By Greg Miller, The Washington Post – “U.S. spy agencies have begun to see groups of fighters abandoning al-Qaeda affiliates in Yemen and Africa to join the rival Islamist organization that has seized territory in Iraq and Syria and been targeted in American airstrikes, U.S. officials said.

The movements are seen by U.S. ­counterterrorism analysts as a worrisome indication of the expanding appeal of a group known as the Islamic State that has overwhelmed military forces in the region and may now see itself in direct conflict with the United States.

‘Small groups from a number of al-Qaeda affiliates have defected to ISIS,’ as the group is also known, said a U.S. official with access to classified intelligence assessments. ‘And this problem will probably become more acute as ISIS continues to rack up victories.’

The influx has strengthened an organization already regarded as a menacing force in the Middle East, one that has toppled a series of Iraqi cities by launching assaults so quickly and in so many directions that security forces caught in the group’s path have so far been unable to respond with anything but retreat.

U.S. officials attribute the Islamic State’s rapid emergence to factors both psychological and tactical. Its core group of fighters honed their skills against the armies of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and the United States when it occupied Iraq. The group has used raids and ransoms to stockpile weapons and cash. And its merciless reputation triggered rampant defections among Sunni members of Iraq’s security forces already disenchanted with the Shiite-led government in Baghdad.

Even before its assault on Kurdish territories in northern Iraq this month, analysts said the Islamic State had shown an almost impulsive character in its pursuit of territory and recruits, with little patience for the elaborate and often time-consuming terror plots favored by al-Qaeda.

Counterterrorism analysts at the CIA and other agencies have so far seen no indication that an entire al-Qaeda node or any of its senior leaders are prepared to switch sides. But officials said they have begun watching for signs of such a development.” Read more.

By Andre Walker, Breitbart – “A seven-year-old jihadi has been pictured with the severed head of Syrian soldier in a photo posted online by his proud father. The boy is the son of the wanted Australian terrorist Khaled Sharrouf, according to the Metro.

The boy was pictured holding the head in the northern Syrian city of Raqqa. His father tweeted the photo along with the caption ‘That’s my boy!’. He also posed with the head himself under the caption ‘what a head.’

Khaled Sharrouf is a former drug addict who is one of the most wanted Australians. He travelled to Syria to join the jihad and now regularly sends updates of his actions to Twitter. He is believed to have made it out of Australia in December by using his brother’s passport.

In one of the tweets he posed with his son in identical camouflaged combat fatigues, carrying guns. In another he said: ‘The more u hate this path you infidel aussie dogs the happier feel dieinrage when you cant affect men lie about women.’ There are concerns that he is mentally ill and has been diagnosed with schizophrenia.

The former Sydney resident also claimed there would be ‘Inshaallah soon in Aus’ – which means ‘God willing or if Allah wills’, a sign he wishes to bring jihad to Australia.” Read more.

Massacre: At Least 100 Slaughtered After Islamist Attack Against Predominantly Christian Town In Nigeria

Morning Star News – “After weeks of sacking villages and destroying church buildings around Nigeria’s northeastern town of Gwoza, Islamic extremist group Boko Haram on Wednesday (Aug. 6) killed an estimated 100 people in the predominantly Christian town, sources said.

The shooting, fire-bombing and slashing of men, women and children in Gwoza, Borno state, as initially the military reportedly fled before an insurgent force backed by international terrorist groups, began at about 4 a.m., producing eyewitness assertions that Boko Haram, which seeks to impose sharia (Islamic law) throughout Nigeria, had taken control of the town of more than 276,000 people. Local residents reportedly said at least 100 people had been killed.

The full magnitude of the attack and the Nigerian military response was unknown as most sources have been forced to flee to Cameroon or Adamawa state, but on the initial day of the assault Pirda Tada, a Christian resident of Saha village, told Morning Star News that Boko Haram gunmen arrived in Toyota Hilux vehicles and motorcycles and attacked houses with Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) and fuel-bombs.

‘I thank God for sparing my life, but three of my neighbors and members of our church were killed during the attack,’ Tada said. ‘These Christians in our village had their throats slit with knives while their hands were tied behind their backs. Some houses were bombed as the Boko Haram gunmen were chanting, ‘God is great!’ in Arabic.’

Six Christians were killed at Saha village, and the insurgents destroyed houses and shops and burned the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) building in Pegi Barawa village, Tada said. Boko Haram rebels on July 19 had attacked Saha and Pegi Barawa village, near Gwoza; six Christians were reported to have been killed in Saha village.

Francis Mbala of Gwoza confirmed that Boko Haram attacked Saha and Pegi Barawa this week.

‘The COCIN church and some houses and shops were burned down,’ he told Morning Star News.” Read more.

By Haviv Rettig Gur and Adiv Sterman, The Times of Israel – “International media outlets, including The New York Times and the BBC, have raised serious questions regarding Gaza civilian casualty figures as recorded by health officials both in the Strip and abroad.

The outlets maintain that the hard data does not support the notion that the Israel Defense Forces is engaged in ‘indiscriminate’ killing of unarmed residents in the Palestinian enclave, as was suggested by several international leaders over the past month.

Citing figures released by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, the BBC’s head of statistics Anthony Reuben found that the number of civilian men killed in the fighting outnumbered the number of women by a factor of nearly 3.5:1. According to the UN, 725 men were killed in the conflict as opposed to 214 women. When the 216 confirmed ‘members of armed groups’ were included in the figures, the disparity grew even larger. Israeli military officials said 750-1,000 Hamas and other gunmen had been killed in the fighting as of Tuesday, August 5.

‘If the Israeli attacks have been ‘indiscriminate,’ as the UN Human Rights Council says, it is hard to work out why they have killed so many more civilian men than women,’ Reuben noted dryly.

The question echoes a New York Times analysis from earlier this week, which showed ‘that the population most likely to be militants, men ages 20 to 29, is also the most overrepresented in the death toll: They are 9 percent of Gaza’s 1.7 million residents, but 34 percent of those killed whose ages were provided. At the same time, women and children under 15, the least likely to be legitimate targets, were the most underrepresented, making up 71 percent of the population and 33 percent of the known-age casualties.'” Read more.

Reporter: Hamas Wants Us To ‘Only Show The Damage’ – “A fighter inside Gaza City threatened to shoot me in the head if I didn’t stop taking pictures of a group of cars with tarp-covered trunks parked behind a building. Another young guy near the outskirts of the city was waving an old handgun around screaming at me because he wanted me to take a picture of the dead boy on the ground next to us under the rubble of a building. He was screaming ‘This is our hell! This is our hell!’ … It’s a dichotomy of them needing the situation to be seen, as long as you only show the damage and not the retaliatory measures.” Read more.

“Islamic State” Cleric To Muslims: Pledge Allegiance To The Caliphate Leader, “The Prince Of The Faithful”

I couldn’t help but take notice that Muslims throughout Syria and Iraq now living under the brutal control of the ISIS Caliphate are being forced to pledge allegiance to its leader, a pledge whose own words refer to him as “the Prince of the Faithful.” It may be of little significance, but it did pique my interest. Could its leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, be the one who was foretold by the Prophet Daniel? Is he simply the forerunner? Or is the “prince to come” something else entirely? Which ever it may be, what we are seeing today throughout the “Islamic State” is a foretaste of what is coming tomorrow. And that is a foreboding prospect for many …

ISIS Caliphate Threatens America: “We Will Raise The Flag Of Allah In The White House”

The Daily Caller – “The terror group President Barack Obama threatened to strike in Iraq Thursday evening is itself threatening to strike the American homeland.

‘I say to America that the Islamic Caliphate has been established,’ Abu Mosa, a spokesman for the terror group known as the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), told VICE Media in a video interview posted online Thursday. ‘Don’t be cowards and attack us with drones. Instead send your soldiers, the ones we humiliated in Iraq.’

‘We will humiliate them everywhere, God willing, and we will raise the flag of Allah in the White House,’ he added.

The video is the first of a multipart series on ISIS VICE Media says it plans to release. VICE Media reporter Medyan Dairieh recently spent three weeks in the ISIS-controlled Syrian city of Raqqa, which the terror group has proclaimed the capital of its newly declared Islamic caliphate.

ISIS’s threat to conquer the United States came before President Obama’s Thursday announcement that he may authorize airstrikes against the terror group in order to protect American personnel in Iraq.

‘Today I authorized two operations in Iraq,’ the president said in a speech from the White House. ‘Targeted airstrikes to protect our American personnel, and a humanitarian effort to save thousands of Iraqi civilians who are trapped on a mountain without food and water, and are facing almost certain death.'” Read more.

By Stuart Winer, The Times of Israel – “A Hamas official declared on Thursday that despite a 72-hour ceasefire and negotiations for a longer-term truce, the war with Israel was not yet done and the organization would continue fighting until all of its demands were met. ‘Our fingers are on the trigger and our rockets are trained at Tel Aviv,’ he declared.

Spokesman Mushir al-Masri made the statements at a pro-Hamas rally in the Gaza Strip, attended by a crowd estimated at some two thousand.

‘The war is not yet over,’ he said. ‘We stress that the Palestinian people’s demands are legitimate, and we call on Egypt, on the Arab nations, and the international community to adopt them.’

In a statement issued Thursday evening, the Hamas military wing threatened to resume rocket fire at 8 a.m. Friday if the blockade of Gaza was not lifted by then.

Israeli officials said Israel was poised to respond as necessary to any resumption of attacks, and was taking the Hamas threats seriously, Channel 2 reported Thursday evening.

Nonetheless, Israel’s negotiators were heading back to talks in Cairo later Thursday with Israeli input which might enable an extension of the ceasefire, the TV report said.

Channel 2 said. IDF Chief Benny Gantz had said Wednesday that the IDF would retaliate strongly if the terror organization resumed its attacks on Israel, and that Israel is prepared to strike Hamas leaders when they emerge from hiding. ‘We will not hesitate to continue to mobilize our forces as necessary to ensure the security of Israeli citizens,’ he said. ‘We aren’t done. If there are incidents, we will respond to them.'” Read more.

Turkish Weekly – “As many as 500 people from Iraq’s Yazidi religious minority have been killed by the terrorist group Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant – ISIL – in the town of Sinjar since Sunday, a Yazidi lawmaker has claimed.

‘ISIL has killed 500 Yazidis and abducted 500 women as slave concubines in Sinjar,’ Iraqi MP Fayyan Dahel told a press conference Tuesday in the parliament in Baghdad.

He said the enslaved women had been taken to some areas near the city of Tel Afar, which is also under ISIL control.

The ISIL-led militants seized control of the town of Sinjar near the city of Mosul on Sunday after fierce clashes, which saw Kurdish Peshmerga forces withdraw from the region they had protected since insurgents overran Mosul and surrounding localities in June.

Sinjar is the traditional home of the Yazidi, an eclectic religious sect fusing Zoroastrian, Manichaean, Jewish, Nestorian Christian and Islamic elements. It is regarded as heretical by orthodox Islamic scholars.

‘The Yazidi religion is currently being wiped out at the hands of ISIL,’ Daheel said, warning against a possible genocide.

He said around 100 people had lost their lives out of the 30,000 Yazidis who had fled for shelter following the advance of ISIL.

Tension continued to remain high in Iraq after the ISIL-led militants, also backed by tribal fighters, seized Iraq’s second-largest city Mosul on June 10 and captured a number of other cities in the north, including Tikrit and Tal Afar…

Thousands of members of the Yazidi religious minority in northern Iraq have fled for shelter following the advance of militant Islamic State – ISIL – rebels into their homeland on Tuesday.

The Yazidi people, an ancient minority, are a significant part of the population in Sinjar town, west of Mosul. Their faith is composed of elements of Christianity, Sufi Islam and Zoroastrianism and is regarded as heretical by Islamist hardliners.

Many Yazidis have gone to a mountainous region called Lalish, about 50km out of Dohuk, north of Mosul.” Read more.

Iraq: 200,000 Christians Have Fled The Nineveh Plain In The Last 24 Hours, Towns Completely Abandoned

Christians are the light of the world, but when forced to completely flee cities and towns and entire regions from the threat of the Beast, the only thing that remains is darkness. And like Sodom and Gomorrah, a kingdom full of darkness is a kingdom that will soon witness the full wrath of Almighty God …

AINA – “The push of the Islamic State (IS) from Mosul north into the Nineveh Plain, the last stronghold of Assyrians in Iraq, has created fear and panic in the population, causing a massive exodus from Assyrian villages. The influx of refugees into Ankawa and Noohadra (Dohuk) has overwhelmed the towns. There is a shortage of everything — shelter, food, water. Dispalced Assyrians are sleeping on sidewalks and in open fields.

AINA spoke to several government officials by telephone regarding the crisis in the Nineveh Plain. These same officials have also fled with the rest of the population.

Yesterday at midnight a column of IS vehicles entered Tel Kepe and took control of the city, whose population had already fled north. IS is now marching to Batnaya and Telsqof, which have been abandoned.

All of the population of the city of Alqosh has fled.

The massive exodus of Assyrians was precipitated in part by the withdrawal of Kurdish forces from the Nineveh Plain. With no one left to defend them, Assyrians followed the retreating Kurdish forces.

Baghdede is now nearly completely empty of Assyrians. The exodus began yesterday morning at 2:30 A.M when Kurdish forces announced they were withdrawing. The Bishops ordered all churches to ring their bells to warn the residents to flee and the exodus began.

After the Kurdish forces withdrew IS took control of the city and the surrounding areas, including Karamles and Bartella.

Last night and this morning IS robbed Assyrians as they fled Baghdede.

It is estimated that 200,000 Assyrians have fled the Nineveh Plain, heading north to Dohuk, Sarsink and Zakho and east to Ankawa and Arbel. The following is a list of Assyrian villages and towns which are now completely abandoned …” Read more.

AINA – “A man claiming to be a member of the Islamic State (ISIS) walked into the front yard of St. Hurmiz Assyrian church, in Greenfield Park, Sydney, and shouted “come out you dogs, I will burn this church down in 1 explosion in 2 hours, just wait.” According to witnesses, the man approached from a nearby shopping center. The police were called and the church provided them with video footage from security cameras. The man was arrested later in the day, but may be released for lack of stronger evidence.

Church members were shaken. A women said she now fears to attend church because of the bombing threat.

The church is now under 24 hour surveillance by the police and private security guards.” Source – AINA.

This report was sent to us by Ms. Christina Patto, VP Assyrian Aid Society of Iraq. Here what she wrote:

Here is our report and some of our testimony concerning the events happening now in North of Iraq.

It is a tragic situation, nobody can imagine how terrible it is, as much as I write to you and send you reports it will not be enough to describe the suffering of people.

For Zummar and Sinjar: they are under Da’esh control, thousands of Yazidis died in the last two days, they are facing a real genocide. Till yesterday (45) children died of thirst. Some families throw their children from the top of Sinjar mountain in order not to see them die from hunger or thirst, or not to be taken by the terrorists. (1500) men were killed in front of their wives and families, (50) old men died also from thirst and illness. More than (70) girl and women (including Christians) were taken, raped and being captured and sold. More than (100) families are captured in Tel afar airport.

There is about (50) Christian families in Sinjar. The terrorists were able to control the Syriac church there and cover the Cross with their black banner. Till now we do not know anything about those Christian families.

For Nineveh Plain:

As a reason to the continuous bombing on Telkeif, Deacon (Lujain Hikmat Nano) died, most of the families left their houses and would leave one member of the family in the house, but this tragic led to an exodus from Telkeif. the same thing happened in Shekhan and the surrounded villages (shekhan center, Karanjo, Dashqotan and Ein biqri).

Ba’ashiqa: an exodus from there because there was boming and battles near Ba’ashiqa as the terrorists are trying to control that area too. Ba’ashiqa Monastory is being evacuated from the inhabitants and from IDPs.

Ein Sifni: an exodus of the Yazidi families which forced the christian families to flee too.

Christian Leader: ISIS Caliphate Is “Systematically Beheading” Children In Iraq, “World Hasn’t Seen An Evil Like This”

Hadith, Sahih Muslim 4457, “The Messenger of Allah … used not to kill the children, so thou shouldst not kill them unless … you could distinguish between a child who would grow up to he a believer (and a child who would grow up to be a non-believer), so that you killed the (prospective) non-believer and left the (prospective) believer aside.”

He said that the Sunni extremists are committing genocide against Christians in Iraq and with the aim to instill the Sharia Law as the law of the land.

In the interview with CNN’s Jonathan Mann, Chaldean-American businessman Mark Arabo said that the ‘world hasn’t seen an evil like this for generations.’

‘There is a park in Mosul, where [ISIS] they actually beheaded children and put their heads on a stick and have them in the park,’ he explained. ‘More children are getting beheaded, mothers are getting raped and killed, and fathers are being hung.’

Speaking from San Diego over Skype, Arabo called for the international community to offer asylum to the more than 300,000 Christians fleeing and living in neighboring cities.

At a meeting in the White House last week, he said the Chaldean-American leaders and the political leaders are saying that the world should come together to stop these crimes against humanity and help alleviate the sufferings of the Iraqi people.

‘The world hasn’t seen this kind of atrocity in generations,’ he said. ‘This is a crime against humanity. This is much broader than a community or a state. This is crime against humanity. They are doing the most horrendous, the most heart-breaking crimes that you can think of.’

When asked about Sunni extremists’ targeting of Christians, Arabo said that around 95 percent of Christians have fled, five percent have converted. Also, the ISIS have marked the death stamps on Christian homes, so whoever returns will get killed.

‘Christian holocaust is in our midst,’ he said.” Read more.
