Whether the current, or a future, Sudanese government declares official participation in an upcoming military coalition with Turkey, Iran and other nations against Israel is irrelevant. Iran International – “After Hamas militants in Gaza and other Iranian-armed allies took punishing blows throughout a two-year war regional melee since Oct. 7 2023, analysts say war-torn Sudan could provide an unlikely haven to recoup their power.

Sudan may serve as a gateway for rearming groups like Hamas, as Tehran’s so-called Axis of Resistance has been weakened by military and political losses, Danny Citronowicz, head of the Iran and Shia Axis program at Israel’s Institute for National Security Studies told Iran International.

‘We have to pay attention to Iranian entrenchment in Sudan. (The Iranians) are working hard to build a base there. Recent reports indicate they are selling drones to the Sudanese army to strengthen their foothold,’ he said.

‘Sudan has been a crucial waypoint for Iran to smuggle arms to Hamas,’ Citronowicz added. ‘Iran’s activity in Africa, especially the eastern region, is significant. Sudan is key if they want to rearm Hamas again.’

Khartoum began to expel Hamas-linked operatives following the ouster of longtime Islamist President Omar al-Bashir in 2019, as new authorities mended ties with the West and inked a normalization accord with Israel.

Sudan’s ongoing civil war has reshaped its political landscape, unleashing deadly chaos and barely governed swathes of contested lands in which some Islamist groups have thrived.

Last year, Israel reportedly considered exiling the assassinated Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar from Gaza to Sudan before he was ultimately killed in a drone attack.

Earlier this year, Sudanese and Israeli media reported discussions about relocating Hamas leadership to Sudan, a possibility that could gain traction following recent Israeli airstrikes on Hamas bases in Qatar.” Read more.

Hamas at Palestinian Rally in Gaza: “Praise be to you, our Lord. You have made our killing of the Jews an act of worship, through which we come closer to you. Allah’s prayers upon you, our beloved prophet [Muhammad]. You have made your teachings into constitutions for us … and the fire with which we harvest the skulls of the Jews… Oh sons of Palestine… wage jihad, wreak destruction, blow up and harvest the heads of the Zionists… Like a bad seed, we shall uproot you from our land, so that it can blossom in the light of the everlasting sun of our Jihad, and of our invincible religion.”

Hamas Official: “First of all, the Hamas movement will never surrender its weapons. This is non-negotiable. Secondly, Hamas leaders will not leave (Gaza). The slogan of Hamas’s leaders is: ‘We will gain either victory or martyrdom.'”

Al-Mashhad TV Host: “But Netanyahu said that he would not withdraw from Gaza, unless Hamas is disarmed. What you are saying means that at least part of Gaza will remain occupied.”

Hamas Official: “In any case, as you know, no occupation can last for a long time. The Americans came to Afghanistan and stayed there for 20 years. They said that they would not leave unless the Taliban is finished. What eventually happened was that the Americans signed a withdrawal agreement with the Taliban, left Afghanistan, and the Taliban took over. So if they pin their hopes on Hamas and its leaders leaving the Gaza Strip, they are deluding themselves…”

MEMRI – “On October 10, 2025, Hamas, Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) published a joint statement stressing that they intend to continue terror attacks against Israel after the ceasefire.

The statement, which came the day after U.S. President Donald Trump announced that an agreement had been reached on the first stage of a ceasefire between Israel and the Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip, opened by emphasizing: ‘We emphasize our determination to continue with the resistance in all its forms until our rights are achieved – first and foremost the removal of the occupation, [Palestinian] self determination, and the establishment of an independent [Palestinian] state with full sovereignty with Jerusalem as its capital.’

Also in the announcement, the factions, including Hamas, rejected out of hand any ‘foreign guardianship’ of the Gaza Strip and emphasized that its administration was an ‘internal Palestinian matter’ to be decided by ‘national [Palestinian] elements’ – meaning that Hamas will be part of the administration of the Gaza Strip.

Hamas is thus expressing its rejection of vital parts of President Trump’s 20-point plan, of which the ceasefire is the first stage, and which also addresses what is to come next for the Gaza Strip.
