State Dep’t, Senate Dems Stall Human Rights Legislation Focusing On ‘Devastating Trend’ Of Christian Persecution In Muslim Nations

11/08/2012 Leave a comment

The State Department and Senate Democrats will do everything possible to avoid highlighting the devastating trend of Christian persecution throughout the Middle East and other Muslim majority nations. After all, to acknowledge that any serious problem exists would be incompatible with the Obama Administration’s pro-Islamic doctrine and would only serve to undermine the image of “democracy and freedom” it wishes to portray of the Arab Spring, a movement that it has already spent hundreds of millions of dollars on, and continues, to fully support …

By Faith J. H. McDonnell – “Recently, U.S. Representative Frank R. Wolf (R-VA) wrote to Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton urging the State Department not to block legislation on the creation of a special envoy to focus on persecuted religious minorities in the Middle East and South Central Asia. Introduced by Wolf and U.S. Rep. Anna Eshoo (D-CA), the bipartisan bill, H.R. 440, to establish such a position passed overwhelmingly (402-20) in July 2011. But the legislation is being held up in the Senate by Foreign Relations Committee member Senator Jim Webb (D-VA) at the request of the State Department.

Wolf has a special passion for the persecuted. He and U.S. Representative Chris Smith (R-NJ) were the first Western government officials ever allowed to enter a Soviet political labor camp. In 1989 they visited the notorious Perm Camp 35 in the Ural Mountains and met with 23 political prisoners and dissidents. In succeeding years Wolf has championed the human rights of the persecuted and oppressed from China to Sudan. His tenacious appeal for an intercessor for vulnerable populations in the increasingly Islamized Middle East and South Central Asia is just the latest of many fights for global justice and religious freedom that are now related in his autobiography, Prisoner of Conscience: One Man’s Crusade for Global Human and Religious Rights.

In the October 25, 2012 letter to Clinton, Wolf warned that ‘time was running out — both in terms of the legislative calendar for this year and in terms of the plight of these communities.’ Both the House-passed legislation and companion bill introduced by Senators Roy Blunt (R-MO) and Carl Levin (D-MI) are ‘languishing in the Senate.’ The congressman, co-chair of the Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission, noted that the introduction of the bill ‘pre-dated the so-called ‘Arab Spring,’’ but that ‘the dramatic changes in the region over the year have only made these communities more vulnerable.’

Minority religious groups are at more risk than ever due to the increasing power of the Muslim Brotherhood and other Islamic supremacists. For instance, says Wolf:

• In Egypt, ‘roughly 8 million Coptic Christians live in fear, especially with the ascendancy of the Muslim Brotherhood and various Islamist elements, and there is ‘widespread and virulent anti-Semitism in the government-controlled media.’

• Iraq’s ‘once vibrant Christian community has been halved from 2003 to the present day’ and ‘large percentages of the country’s smallest religious minorities, including Chaldo-Assyrian and other Christians, Sabean Mandaeans, and Yezidis,’ as well as the tiny Jewish population, ‘have fled the country in recent years, threatening these ancient communities’ very existence in Iraq.’

• ‘Shabbaz Bhatti – Pakistan’s only Christian cabinet member – was Read more…

Denmark: Muslim Majority On Local Board Cancels Decades-Old Christmas Tradition, Finances Islamic Eid Celebration

As the West continues to allow Muslim immigration to continue unabated, these types of stories will become all the more frequent …

It’s Already There

By Nicolai Sennels – “The final remark about a ‘lack of tolerance and inclusiveness from the new majority’ is probably the most important. Translated by Nicolai Sennels, dr.dk ‘Muslims cancel Christmas celebration in housing area‘:

‘The housing area Egedalsvænge in Kokkedal, Denmark, will not have a Christmas tree with lights this year. A small Muslim majority in the Egedalsvænge Board has refused to spend money on the Christmas tree a few days after a big Eid celebration….

For decades it has been a tradition to have a Christmas tree with lights in the area between the buildings throughout the month of December. But now a majority in the Chamber Board refused to spend the approximately 1,000 dollars that a Christmas tree with lights costs.

The decision has attracted much attention since it was made three days after a big Islamic Eid party in Egedalsvænge. A mobile play ground, bungee jumping and a climbing wall was rented to make the Muslim celebration attractive for children and adults, and this event the Board had agreed to finance with appr. 10,000 dollars.

Although the small majority in the Chamber Board of Directors was democratically elected at the general meeting in September, the new course has surprised many. It is a sign of a lack of tolerance and inclusiveness from the new majority in the fund’s board of directors, says one person from the Egedalsvænge, where many refuse to talk to the media.'” Source – Jihad Watch.

Al-Qaeda Leader Zawahiri: Benghazi Attack Signifies American Weakness, ‘Their Awe Is Lost And Their Might Is Gone’

11/07/2012 2 comments

Even the Father of Lies himself can actually speak the truth once in a blue moon …

By Tiffany Gabbay – “Following quickly on the heels of the U.S. presidential election, al Qaeda leader Ayman al-Zawahiri proclaimed that the terror attack against the U.S. diplomatic outpost in Benghaz indicates that American ‘awe is lost’ in the region. In an audio message addressed to the Somali jihadist group, al-Shabaab, Zawahiri said American influence in the region is floundering due to weakness.

‘They were defeated in Iraq and they are withdrawing from Afghanistan and their ambassador in Benghazi was killed and the flags of their embassies were lowered in Cairo and Sanaa (Yemen),’ a translation the militant’s message reads in the Long War Journal.

‘Their awe is lost and their might is gone and they don’t dare to carry out a new campaign like their past ones in Iraq and Afghanistan.’

Al Qaeda is, of course, along with other militant groups, are still sweeping the Maghreb — in particular, Libya. On Tuesday turmoil reached a fever pitch in Benghazi after a car bomb exploded near a police station late in the day, a police officer told AFP.

He added that two of his colleagues were injured in a subsequent gunfight with the primary suspect. The vehicle reportedly belonged to a law enforcement officer and it was believed to have been ignited by a hand grenade or fishing explosives.

‘One of them is in a critical condition and the other was hit on his foot,’ said the police officer, adding that the suspect had escaped.

The country’s newly elected authorities are attempting to empower the national army and police but are losing control of militias that sprung from the 2011 uprising against Libya’s longtime dictator, Muammar Gadhafi.

AFP adds more on the wave of assassinations ravaging the country:

The city has also witnessed a wave of assassinations, targeting officials with links to the former regime, which are often blamed on hardline Islamists.

On Tuesday, also in Benghazi, the bullet ridden corpse of retired colonel Abdul Karim Mahfud, who backed the 2011 revolution, was found in his farm.

Libya held its first elections in July but the new government officials are struggling with how best to provide security in the volatile area.” Source – The Blaze.

Egypt: Islamist Hardliners Dance To The Beat Of A Different Drum After Hearing Christian Music Played In Public

By Yasmine Saleh, Reuters – “Mohamed Talaat didn’t like the fact Christian music was being played at a party to promote interfaith harmony in the Egyptian town of Minya south of Cairo, so together with a group of like-minded Islamist hardliners, he showed up to put a stop to it.

It was simply un-Islamic to broadcast Christian songs, Talaat explained.

‘Egypt is Islamic and so we all have to accept Islamic rules to halt any strife,’ he said by telephone.

Four months since Egypt elected veteran Muslim Brotherhood politician Mohamed Mursi as president, human rights activists say hardliners are trying to impose Islamist ways on society.

Although reliable data on social trends is hard to find in Egypt, many people believe that cases of religious intimidation have increased.

‘There is no doubt that the rate of strange and violent practices by strict Islamists has increased tremendously since the election of Mursi,’ said Gamal Eid, founder of The Arabic Network for Human Rights Information, a human rights group.

‘We have in a few months seen many more of such incidents than we have seen in years before Mursi,’ he said.

Seemingly sporadic incidents are turning into what rights activists describe as an emerging pattern of abuses in the street by radicals, defying both the authority of the state and Mursi’s own promises to protect personal freedoms…

CHRISTIANS FEAR VIOLENCE

Egypt’s Christian minority, the Middle East’s largest, has lived with increasing fear of sectarian violence, which worsened in Mubarak’s final weeks and the early days of the interim military rule that followed his ouster in February 2011.

Weeks before Mubarak was ousted, 23 Coptic Christians were killed in the bombing of a church on New Year’s Day 2011. Five months later, with generals still in charge of the country, several churches in Cairo were torched and Christian houses and businesses destroyed. Fifteen people died and hundreds were wounded in the May 2011 religious unrest.” Read more.

‘This Isn’t A Show’: Netanyahu Says He May Go It Alone On Striking Iran, Doesn’t Need America’s Approval To Make Decision

11/07/2012 1 comment

By JODI RUDOREN, The New York Times -“JERUSALEM — Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday reiterated his willingness to attack the Iranian nuclear programwithout support from Washington or the world, returning to an aggressive posture that he had largely abandoned since his United Nations speech in September.

‘When David Ben-Gurion declared the foundation of the state of Israel, was it done with American approval?’ Mr. Netanyahu asked in an interview broadcast on Israel’s Channel 2 on Monday night. ‘When Levi Eshkol was forced to act in order to loosen the siege before 1967, was it done with the Americans’ support?

‘If someone sits here as the prime minister of Israel and he can’t take action on matters that are cardinal to the existence of this country, its future and its security, and he is totally dependent on receiving approval from others, then he is not worthy of leading,’ Mr. Netanyahu added. ‘I can make these decisions.’

Though American officials, including President Obama, have always acknowledged that Israel ultimately has the right to decide how to defend itself, Mr. Netanyahu’s tough tone and timing — on the eve of the American presidential election — are sure to reignite rifts with Washington over how best to prevent Tehran from developing a nuclear bomb.

As has been the case over the past two years, however, it is impossible to know whether his hawkish words are harbingers of deeds or part of a strategic campaign to scare nations into increasing economic and diplomatic pressure on Iran.

‘I am not eager to go to war,’ Mr. Netanyahu said in the seven-minute interview. ‘I have been creating very heavy pressure, and part of this pressure comes from the knowledge some of the most powerful nations in the world have that we are serious. This isn’t a show, this is not false.’

Besides the creation of diplomatic tensions if Israel were to act alone against Washington’s wishes, there is a more practical concern: the Israeli military lacks the capacity to penetrate all of Iran’s underground nuclear facilities, and thus could most likely only delay the potential development of a nuclear weapon by a few years. The United States has bunker-busting bombs that could do far more damage.” Read more.

Muslim Brotherhood: Obama Needs To ‘Accept The Will Of The Arab People’

11/07/2012 Leave a comment

Odd, isn’t it, that the Muslim Brotherhood viewed Barack Obama as being “biased” toward Israeli interests, despite the fact that Obama has been the most hostile American President toward Israel in recent memory. I’d hate to imaging what it would take for Obama to receive the full approval of Egypt’s new Islamist government …

“WASHINGTON (CBSDC/AP) — Islamists in the Middle East are speaking out following President Barack Obama’s re-election Tuesday night.

The Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood feels that the only foreign policy change Obama can bring is by ‘accepting the will of the Arab people.’

‘We must rely on ourselves and on our resources and build our country,’ Issam Al-Aryan, a top Muslim Brotherhood official, said, according to The Times of Israel. ‘In the absence of direct American influence, Egypt can affect and lead the process of building a democratic and constitutional regime that will become a dream for African and the southern hemisphere.’

Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood wants to make Shariah Law the main source of the country’s new constitution.

Terror group Hamas is calling for Obama not to be ‘biased’ toward Israeli interests during his second term.

‘We heard moderate speech from Obama following his first term victory, but his policy was inconsistent with the speeches he gave in Egypt and Turkey,’ Taher Nunu, a Hamas government spokesman, said, according to The Times of Israel. ‘He now has an opportunity to implement those promises to the nations of the region, far from pressures by the Israel lobby and politicized money.’

Iran wants Obama to force Israel to get rid of its nuclear weapons.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has warned Iran of a possible military strike if the Tehran regime continues its efforts in building a nuclear weapon.” Source – CBS.

That Didn’t Take Long: Palestinians Congratulate Obama, Already Demand Promised Support For Statehood Bid

By STUART WINER, Times of Israel – “Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas on Wednesday issued a statement congratulating US President Barack Obama on his election victory and encouraging him to continue his efforts to achieve peace in the Middle East.

Chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat said he hoped Obama’s second term in office would see the establishment of a Palestinian state. Erekat added that, with the Palestinians determined to bid for nonmember state status at the UN this month, he expected the president to show support for the move.

‘We have decided to take the Palestinian issue to the UN and we hope that Obama will stand by this Palestinian right,’ Erekat said. ‘What Obama needs to do is stop the Israeli settlement policy and not act to stop the Palestinian activity at the UN.’

Palestinian rival Hamas called on Obama to alter his country’s foreign policy concerning Arab and Palestinian affairs. The group’s spokesman urged the president to stop favoring Israel and examine the ‘Palestinians’ legal rights.’

Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi said he trusted Obama would use his second term to act in the best interests of the US and Egypt.

In a telegram of congratulations released by the official news agency MENA, Morsi said he hoped for a ‘strengthening of the friendship between the two countries to serve their common interests, namely justice, freedom and peace.'” Read more.

PA to Push for UN Nonmember Status This Month, Abbas Confirms – “The Palestinians will push forward with their bid for nonmember status at the United Nations in November, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas said on Tuesday. In a meeting with Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Amman, Abbas told Lavrov that the PA would submit its request for nonmember status to the 193-member UN General Assembly. The move would essentially provide non-binding international recognition of a Palestinian state. After the meeting, the PA’s chief negotiator Saeb Erekat said Lavrov had expressed support for the PA’s diplomatic bid, Ynet reported.” Read more.

Israel Knesset Speaker: Obama Hurting America With Naïve Foreign Policy Preferring Islamic World Over West, Israel Will Not Capitulate

11/07/2012 Leave a comment

By AARON KLEIN – “TEL AVIV – The state of Israel will not capitulate before President Obama, whose ‘naive’ leadership has hurt the U.S., stated Danny Danon, deputy speaker of Israel’s Knesset.

Danon, a Knesset member from Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s ruling Likud party, was reacting to the re-election of Obama.

‘Obama’s victory demonstrates that the state of Israel must take care of its own interests,’ Danon said. ‘We cannot rely on anyone but ourselves. Obama has hurt the United States by his naïve leadership in foreign policy, which prefers the Arab world over the Western world, along with Israel. The state of Israel will not capitulate before Obama.’

Earlier this week, WND quoted a senior Palestinian Authority negotiator claiming that if Obama secures another four years in office, he will use his second term to target Netanyahu as the main party to blame for the collapse of Mideast peace talks.

The negotiator further claimed that Obama quietly pledged to the Palestinians a campaign at the United Nations to renew U.N. Security Council Resolution 242, which calls for a Palestinian state to be established in the West Bank, Gaza Strip and eastern Jerusalem.

The PA negotiator said the White House had asked the Palestinians to slow their drive for the unilateral declaration of a state at the U.N. General Assembly.

The negotiator further said Obama had promised the PA that the establishment of a Palestinian state will be one of the main priorities for a second term.

‘We were told that the negotiations for a Palestinian state will be a main goal for Obama,’ said the negotiator. ‘Netanyahu will be declared the main person responsible for the collapse of the peace process.'” Source – WND.

Pakistan: Christian Pastor Telling Christians Not To Participate In Islamic Feast Is Jailed For Blasphemy, Threatened With Death

11/07/2012 2 comments

Acts 15:29, “You are to abstain from food sacrificed to idols … You will do well to avoid these things.”

1 Corinthians 10:19-21, “… the sacrifices of pagans are offered to demons, not to God, and I do not want you to be participants with demons. You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too; you cannot have a part in both the Lord’s table and the table of demons.”

All meat consumed by Muslims is to be Halal, and in order for meat to be considered Halal the animal must be sacrificed in the name of Allah.  According to Biblical Scripture, Allah is a false god. False gods are idols. And as we can see from the verses above, God has a few things to say to His children when it comes to food that has been sacrificed to idols: don’t eat it …

Sacrificed For The Islamic Deity "Allah"

Sacrificed For The Islamic Deity “Allah”

By Stoyan Zaimov , Christian Post – “A pastor in Pakistan has been denied bail after he was accused of blasphemy and arrested by police, who protected him from a mob of angry Muslims.

Karma Patras was originally arrested on Oct. 13, after he held a prayer meeting at a Christian family’s house in Sanghla Hill in central Punjab province, where he was asked about the meaning and relevance of the Muslim feast of sacrifice, Eid-al-Adha. The festival, celebrated by Muslims throughout the world, honors the sacrifice to God Abraham was willing to make by offering his first-born son Ishmael, as found in the Book of Genesis. [ICA Comment: A typical Islamic distortion. The sacrifice was not of Ishmael in Genesis, but of Isaac, cf. Gen. 22:2].

As reported by persecution watchdog International Christian Voice, Pastor Patras said that the feast was strictly a Muslim one and was forbidden for Christians. Patras quoted Corinthians 10:28-29, which says: ‘But if anyone says to you, ‘This was offered to idols,’ do not eat it for the sake of the one who told you, and for conscience’ sake; for ‘the earth is the Lord’s, and all its fullness. ‘Conscience,’ I say, not your own, but that of the other. For why is my liberty judged by another man’s conscience?’

Muslims were also listening in on his answers, however, and told others about Patras’ explanation. When the pastor returned home from the prayer gathering, he was threatened by angry Muslim clerics who wanted to punish him for speaking out against the celebration of Eid-al-Adha.

The imams apparently organized an angry mob, who called Patras an infidel who has blasphemed against Islam and should be killed, attacking the pastor’s house. Police apparently rushed to the scene to try and save Patras from the beating and his house from being destroyed, but at the same time arrested him under suspicion of blasphemy.” Read more.

Powerful 7.4 Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Near Guatemala Coast, Buildings Rocked In Capital, Felt As Far As Mexico City

11/07/2012 Leave a comment

FOX News – “SAN MARCOS, Guatemala – A 7.4-magnitude earthquake rocked Guatemala on Wednesday, killing at least 48 people in two provinces as it toppled thick adobe walls, shook huge landslides down onto highways, and sent terrified villagers streaming into the streets of this idyllic mountain town near the border with Mexico. One hundred people were missing, and hundreds were injured.

The quake, which hit at 10:35 a.m. in the midst of the work day, caused terror over an unusually wide area, with damage reported in all but one of Guatemala’s 22 states and shaking felt as far away as Mexico City, 600 miles to the northwest.

President Otto Perez Molina said at a news conference that 40 people died in the province of San Marcos and eight more were killed in the neighboring province of Quetzaltenango.

San Marcos, where more than 30 homes collapsed, bore the brunt of the temblor’s fury.

More than 300 people, including firefighters, policemen and villagers, tried to dig through a half ton of sand at a quarry in the commercial center of town in a desperate attempt to rescue seven people believed buried alive. Among those under the sand was a 6-year-old boy who had accompanied his grandfather to work.

‘I want to see Giovanni! I want to see Giovanni!’ the boy’s mother, 42-year-old Francisca Ramirez, frantically cried. ‘He’s not dead. Get him out.’ She said the boy’s father had emigrated to the U.S. and there was no way to reach him.

Perez flew to San Marcos to view the damage in this lush mountainous region of 50,000 indigenous farmers and ranchers, many belonging to the Mam ethnic group.

‘One thing is to hear about what happened and another thing entirely is to see it,’ Perez told The Associated Press. ‘As a Guatemalan I feel sad … to see mothers crying for their lost children.'” Read more.

Waiting For The Apocalypse? A Military Nuclear Iran Is Now Pretty Much A Done Deal

11/07/2012 1 comment

By Prof. Louis René Beres, Op-Ed INN – “After too many years of delay and self-delusion concerning Tehran’s atomic intentions and capabilities, a militarily nuclear Iran is now pretty much a fait accompli.

For a distinctly identifiable period of time, selective preemptions against certain Iranian nuclear assets and corollary infrastructures could have made strategic sense. Now, for Israel, the country most directly threatened by these portentous enemy developments, self-defense options will be limited to mostly reactive counter-measures. Above all, this means fashioning critically improved nuclear deterrence, and also conspicuously-expanding programs for ballistic-missile defense.

Although never discussed publicly, these remaining options will likely announce an end to Israel’s longstanding policy of ‘deliberate nuclear ambiguity,’ or the so-called ‘bomb in the basement.’ Included, too, will be substantial engineering improvements to the Arrow, Iron Dome, and (later) Magic Wand missile interceptors. There will also be parallel and reinforcing efforts aimed very specifically at enhanced national plans for intelligence, counterintelligence, and cyber-defense. In military parlance, because these plans will be intersecting and inter-penetrating, or ‘synergistic,’ they will represent powerful ‘force multipliers.’

A successful and timely preemption might once have prevented a nuclear Iran. Similarly, Israel’s defensive anti-missile programs could become useful as an important adjunct to nuclear deterrence. This would come about because the rationality of any contemplated Iranian attack upon Israel could be affected by Israel’s deployed hard-target protections. In essence, with capable Israeli ballistic missile defenses in place, Teheran could require a steadily increasing number of offensive missiles just to ensure its necessary penetration capacity.

It is true, of course, that Israel’s active defenses could also provide certain limited protections for civilian populations or ‘soft’ targets, but any such post-attack benefits would be far less important than those gains associated with improved nuclear deterrence.

Whether rational, irrational, or ‘mad’ – and there are genuinely vital differences between these three decisional possibilities – any nuclear-capable Iranian leadership that inclines toward military conflict with the ‘Zionist Entity’ could Read more…
