The Muslim Organisations in Defence of Islam (Pembela), comprising 20 groups, protested after Friday prayers at the National Mosque against Putrajaya’s release of Malay-language bibles and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s promise to never impound the Alkitab again.
A group of 30 men dressed in white shirts and skullcaps gathered at the main entrance of the mosque after prayers with placards saying ‘Allah is great! We Ansarullah (helpers of Allah) are watching you!'” Read more.
Egyptians Alarmed Over Rise in Influence of Islamists in Post-Mubarak Era
By ABEER TAYEL – “Acts of hard-line vigilantism committed recently in Egypt are fuelling debate and concerns over the role Islamists could play after the departure of President Hosni Mubarak, who suppressed Islamist groups which he saw as a threat to his rule, analysts said.
Salafis were tolerated as a religious group under the former president as a counterweight his top foe, the Muslim Brotherhood group. But they appear to be playing a more political role in the country after the January 25 revolution.
That has alarmed many of the secular and liberal forces in Egypt because of the group’s extremist discourse and imposition of sharia (Islamic law.)” Read more.
Swarm Of Quakes In Nevada Have Experts Concerned
By Brooke Boone – “Nevada Seismologists are keeping a close eye on an area southwest of Hawthorne, Nevada where hundreds of earthquakes have been detected since Sunday.
‘It’s a little bit concerning in a sense.. The largest earthquakes in these sequences are pretty large in size.’ Graham Kent is Director of Nevada Seismological Laboratory at the University of Nevada Reno. He says there have been hundreds of earthquakes southwest of Hawthorne over the past few days. The largest– recorded at a 4.4 in size.
‘These are the biggest in a sequence we’ve seen at least in the last couple of years.’ Kent says unlike the 2008 quakes in Somersett that damaged so many homes, these earthquakes are fortunately not underneath a community.
Size is not the only reason Kent says they are watching the swarm of quakes closely. The location of these quakes is on top of a fault that has until now remained unknown or has not been active. Kent then made an eerie comparison, ‘Whats really interesting about most of these earthquakes we’ve experienced. Short of the Chilean and Japanese; Haiti, Baha, even Christchurch.. ‘It Felt Like a Bomb’: Arkansas, Oklahoma Storms Kill at Least 9
“TUSHKA, Okla. — Violent storms ripped across Oklahoma and Arkansas overnight, killing nine people including three children, and cutting a path of destruction through Arkansas’s largest city of Little Rock.
Tornadoes killed two people in Oklahoma, both in the small southeastern town of Tushka where the only school was leveled, authorities said.
In Arkansas, seven people were killed as the storms hit early on Friday morning.
A six-year-old boy was crushed to death by a tree in the town of Bald Knob.
A father and an 18-month-old girl died in Garland County when a tree struck by lightning fell on their home…” Read more.
Nearly Half of US Meat Tainted With Drug-Resistant Bacteria, Study Suggests
“PHOENIX — There may be scores of drug-resistant bacteria lurking in your grocery meat aisle.
A study Friday by the Translational Genomics Research Institute, found that Staphylococcus aureus — bacteria that causes most staph infections including skin infections, pneumonia and blood poisoning — was present in meat and poultry from US grocery stores at ‘unexpectedly high rates.’
Researchers found nearly half of the meat and poultry samples, 47 percent, were contaminated with S. aureus, and more than half of those bacteria, 52 percent, were resistant to at least three classes of antibiotics.” Read more.
Christian Missionaries in Turkey Become Targets for Militant ‘Nationalists’
‘Turkish nationalists’ see Islam as a ‘unifying force of the country’, yet some try to claim that their attacks against Christians have ‘nothing to do with Islam.’ Yet every single ‘Turkish nationalist’ is Muslim. Are the deniers really that ignorant? Or is this yet again another blatant example of taqiyya?

The attacker in front of the Dirilis Kilisesi, or Church of the Resurrection, was quickly overwhelmed, but the incident on the evening of April 1 was a reminder of the hatred that some radical Turkish nationalists feel for Christian missionaries. Radical nationalists in Turkey are not opposed to Christian missionaries for religious reasons, Ferhat Kentel, a sociologist at Istanbul’s Bilgi University, said about the hatred against missionaries.
‘It is an effort by nationalists to create enemies, a perception of threat,’ Dr Kentel said. ‘It has nothing to do with Islam. It is an ideological phenomenon.’ He said the fear of missionaries was ‘a symbol for dangers coming from outside’. Turkish nationalists see Islam as a unifying force of the country that will be undermined if Christians are allowed to proselytize.” Read more.

Workers can only go in for perhaps 10 minutes, 15 minutes at a time and they get their year’s dose of radiation. You’re there for one hour and you have radiation sickness … you’re there for a day and you get a lethal amount of radiation. At Chernobyl there were 600,000 people mobilized, each one going in for just a few minutes, dumping sand, concrete, boric acid on to the reactor site. Each one got a medal. That’s what it took to bring one raging nuclear accident under control… In the best case scenario … they hope to bring it under control by the end of this year.

Radiation Levels in Fukushima Underground Water Rise 38x During Past Week
“The operator of the troubled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant says radiation levels in underground water gathered in so-called sub-drain pits rose by up to 38 times during the past week.
Tokyo Electric Power Company, or TEPCO, is working to remove contaminated water from the basements of the turbine buildings and tunnels. The contaminated water is hindering efforts to restore the reactors’ cooling systems.
TEPCO said that in its monitoring on Wednesday, it found 400 becquerels of iodine-131 and 53 becquerels of cesium-134 per cubic centimeter in the No. 1 reactor’s sub-drain pit. These levels are 6 times and 38 times higher than a week ago respectively.” Read more.
