IPT News – “An Islamist activist honored by the White House last December as a ‘Champion of Change‘ called Zionism ‘racism’ this week and said ‘nothing is creepier’ than the belief in a Jewish homeland.

Linda Sarsour also posted two links on her Twitter feed to a rabidly anti-Israel video by a New York poet that accuses Israel of ethnic cleansing and mocks interfaith dialogue as selling out.

Sarsour has been invited to at least seven White House meetings since April 2010, records show. All but one were with Paul Monteiro, associate director of the White House Office of Public Engagement. The most recent meeting took place seven months ago. Last week, the Investigative Project on Terrorism reported on hundreds of White House meetings involving radical Islamists like Sarsour.

Sarsour, director of the Arab American Association of New York, is on record defending terror suspects, casting skepticism over law enforcement investigations and advancing conspiracy theories. Despite her access to the administration, Sarsour describes support for President Obama as a ‘lesser of two evils’ proposition for Muslim voters.

She also believes there is a government conspiracy against Muslims and that the authorities were behind Malcolm X’s assassination. During a Feb. 23, 2012 interviewwith Russia TV, Sarsour claimed that ‘Islamophobia’ today is a continuation of the genocide of native Americans and the slavery of African Americans. ‘This has happened throughout the history of our country; our country was based on, you know, genocide on native Americans, based on slavery, racial profiling has existed for centuries in this community,’ she said.

During the same interview, Sarsour cast Malcolm X’s assassination as part of a New York Police Department conspiracy which uses informants in the same way today. ‘As a matter of fact, on the chief body guard of Malcolm X was an NYPD informant,’ she said, ‘and we know that Malcolm X was assassinated in cooperation with the government, so it’s very, for me it’s just a continuation of history.’

The occult hand of government lurks behind many corners in Sarsour’s world. In May, she dismissed reports about an al-Qaida plot to blow up an airplane using a more sophisticated, more difficult to detect, underwear bomb. Rather than celebrate this outcome, Sarsour leapt to a false conclusion, claiming that in a May 8 Twitter post that it was a CIA inside job.” Read more.

By KERRY MCDERMOTT – “A mother brutally beat her seven-year-old son to death with a stick then set his body on fire because he was struggling to commit passages from the Koran to memory, a court was told.

Sara Ege, 32, is alleged to have beaten Yaseen Ali ‘like a dog’ for failing to recite passages from the religious text, before burning his body at the family home in Cardiff to try and cover up what she had done.

The youngster’s death was initially believed to be a tragic accident following the blaze at the house in Pontcanna, until a post-mortem examination revealed Yaseen had died before the fire broke out, Cardiff Crown Court heard.

Ege is also accused of abusing her son in the months leading up to his death, allegedly beating him with a hammer and locking him in a shed for falling behind with his Islamic studies.

The trial at Cardiff Crown Court heard how the university graduate and her husband Yousuf Ege had enrolled Yaseen in advanced classes at their local mosque and hoped he would become Hafiz – an Islamic term for someone who has memorised the Koran.

In a video recording of her interview with police Ege told officers she had set her seven-year-old the target of memorising 35 pages in three months.

But the court was told fun-loving Yaseen preferred to play with his friends and fell behind with his learning.” Read more.

Pakistan: Couple Kills Daughter For Talking To A Boy – “A mother and father in Pakistan-administered Kashmir killed their 15-year-old daughter by dousing her with acid after seeing her talking to a young man, police said Thursday. Local police officer Tahir Ayub told AFP the father, Mohammad Zafar, had had suspicions about his daughter Anvu Sha and became enraged when he saw her with a boy outside their home on Monday. ‘Zafar beat her up and then poured acid over her with the help of his wife. She was badly burnt but they did not take her to hospital until the next morning, and she died on Wednesday,’ Ayub said.” Read more.

Sweden: Muslim Mother Smothers 5-Month Old With Qur’an, ‘I Didn’t Want to Kill Him, I Wanted to Save Him’ – “A woman who confessed to suffocating her 5-month-old child with the family’s copy of the Koran is on trial in western Sweden, with her defense team arguing she had a psychotic breakdown, possibly due to postpartum depression. ‘I didn’t want to kill him, I wanted to save him,’ the 28-year-old woman said during a hearing on Tuesday … the father found his child dead with 39 wounds to its body, the majority of which were caused by the holy book.” Read more.

By STEVEN EMERSON and JOHN ROSSOMANDO – “The Investigative Project on Terrorism has learned that House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi headlined a Democratic Party fundraiser with leaders of Hamas and Muslim Brotherhood front groups in May of this year.

The invitation-only fundraiser was sponsored by Reps. Keith Ellison, D-Minn.; Andre Carson, D-Ind.; and Steve Israel, D-N.Y., chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, and took place on the evening of May 16, 2012, at the W Hotel in Washington D.C.

In attendance were about 20 members of a Syrian dissident group and 10 officials representing Muslim Brotherhood and Hamas front groups. Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) Executive Director Nihad Awad was perhaps the most prominent attendee and played a key role in organizing the event.

CAIR, an unindicted co-conspirator in the 2007-2008 Holy Land Foundation Hamas money-laundering trials, was described in FBI testimony as having been created by Hamas. In a 2007 federal court filing, prosecutors described CAIR as conspiring with other branches of the Muslim Brotherhood to support terrorists.

The FBI officially severed relations with CAIR in 2008 because of its ties to Hamas.

Awad has openly championed Hamas and defended suicide bombings as ‘legitimate resistance.’

Also in attendance was Jamal Barzinji, a founding father of the Muslim Brotherhood in America and co-founder of the Muslim Students Association (MSA), an incubator for Islamic radicalism in North America. MSA was the forerunner of Islamic Circle of North America (ICNA), Islamic Society of North America (ISNA)and the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT).

Barzinji was named in a federal affidavit as being closely associated with Palestinian Islamic Jihad and Hamas. His name appears in a global phone book of Muslim Brotherhood members recovered by Italian and Swiss authorities in Nov. 2001 from the home of Al-Taqwa Bank of Lugano founder Youssef Nada, one of the leaders of the international Muslim Brotherhood.

During the fundraiser, Pelosi sat at the same table with Awad and Barzinji.

They are not questions rendered unanswerable by ‘conflicting intelligence.’ They are questions that probe clear actions taking place not on the roof of a safe house under mortar fire, but inside the fortresslike, orderly and well-lit White House.

Who turned down requests for military relief for Americans under rocket and mortar fire? Who decided to suppress the fact that no protest preceded this attack on the U.S. Consulate in Libya, which claimed four American lives? Who ordered senior Obama administration officials to lie to the American people for two weeks by blaming a YouTube video for a ‘spontaneous’ outbreak of violence that was, in fact, a coordinated terrorist assault?

President Obama declared he made his priorities about Benghazi clear ‘the minute I found out what was happening.’ He said: ‘Number one, make sure that we are securing our personnel and doing whatever we need to.’ If he issued an unexecuted order to this effect, there was a grievous breakdown in the chain of command that must be exposed. If, on the other hand, Barack Obama is lying, that must be exposed, too. It’s not a hard fact to find out.

But is Thomas Pickering, Obama’s choice to lead the Benghazi investigation, the proper person to search for it? On first glance, Pickering, a retired top diplomat and State Department official, sets off conflict-of-interest alarms for helming an investigation that must focus closely on the State Department. On closer inspection, however, so many red flags pop up around Pickering that his selection becomes another Benghazi-gate scandal in itself.

Fox News, AP – “CAIRO – Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood said Wednesday it is committed to enshrining Islamic Shariah law as the main source of a new constitution, seeking to mollify ultraconservative Islamists who accuse the group of not advocating strongly enough for Islamic rule.

Islamic influence in Egypt’s governance is the most inflammatory issue following last year’s ousting of longtime President Hosni Mubarak. Islamists have swept elections since then, and the Brotherhood’s Mohammed Morsi is the president — but the Brotherhood faces criticism from even more stringent Islamists as much as from liberals.

Ultraconservatives known as Salafis have pushed for firm language in the new constitution to ensure implementation of Shariah, even calling for demonstrations on Friday. Top Salafi clerics threatened to rally voters against the constitution when it is put to a vote in a referendum before end of this year, if their demands are not met.

Together, Salafis and the Brotherhood dominate the 100-member assembly writing the new constitution.

The controversy centers on the phrasing of key articles that expand the role of Islamic Sharia laws.

The previous constitution said ‘the principles of Shariah’ are the basis of law in Egypt. Liberals favored such phrasing, which they say allows greater leeway, meaning legislation can meet the broad ideas of Islam.

Salafis wanted that changed to ‘the rulings of Shariah,’ implying Egypt’s laws would have to abide by the strict letter of what clerics say is meant in Islamic law.” Read more.

Salafist Leader Warn: If You Don’t Back Shariah Law You Will Go To Hell – “Voters in Egypt will go to hell if they back a new constitution that fails to set in stone fundamentalist Islamic law, a top politician has claimed. Adel Afifi, the leader of the Al-Asala party, delivered the warning on his Facebook page ahead of a referendum expected before the end of the year. ‘Support [Allah] and reject the constitution,’ announced Afifi. He claimed that voting in favour of the draft constitution was committing a sin, for which voters would be ‘casting themselves into hell’. Failing to support sharia law in Egypt would make a citizen an apostate, insisted Afifi.” Read more.

Agence France-Presse – “Gunmen assassinated a well-known comedian and musician who poked fun at Al-Qaeda linked Shebab insurgents in the Somali capital Mogadishu, police and colleagues said Tuesday.

Warsame Shire Awale, a famous composer who had worked with Somalia’s national army band before joining Radio Kulmiye as a drama producer and comedian, was attacked by two gunmen late on Monday.

‘Gunmen killed him… we are investigating the matter and the killers will be brought to justice,’ police chief Ahmed Hassan Malin told reporters.

‘Two men armed with pistols shot and wounded him near his house in Waberi district, he died shortly after in hospital,’ said Abdi Mohamed Haji, a colleague at Radio Kulmiye.

The killing, the latest in a string of attacks on media workers in Somalia, follows the murder of fellow comic Abdi Jeylani Malaq Marshale in August, who also worked at Kulmiye.” Read more.

During planning meetings for September’s Smag Verden – Mangfoldighedsfest, a celebration of the foods and cultures of different countries, Jewish participants were warned that some would interpret the flying of the Israeli flag as a provocation.

‘We were told that is was better if we did not fly our flag,’ Malgorzata H Hansen, who represented local Jews at the meetings, told Berlingske newspaper.

Organisers said they feared clashes between Jewish, Muslim and leftist groups if the Israeli flag was displayed.

Originally, representatives of TaskForce Inklusion, the group responsible for communicating with all of the groups participating in the festival, told the Jewish representatives that all participating associations were being asked not to bring flags.

Other flags were displayed prominently at the festival and the groups involved said they had never been asked not to display their country’s standards.” Read more.
