Rumor: Chinese Twitter Says Kim Jong-Un Was Assassinated This Morning In Beijing

02/10/2012 Leave a comment

I normally don’t care to share these type of rumors, but given the fact that North Korea is the biggest non-Muslim persecutor of Christians, it’s worth a mention.  I’ll update the post once confirmed if this is fact or (likely) faked …

Update: It’s fake

The Chinese micro-blogging service Weibo has exploded with rumors that new North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un was assassinated today at the North Korean embassy in Beijing. Twitter death rumors are totally cross-cultural.

Here’s one version of the rumor, cleaned up from the crappy Google translation:

According to reliable sources, North Korean leader [Kim Jong-Un was killed] in Beijing in February 10 2012, at 2 o’clock and 45 minutes. Unknown persons broke into his residence shot and were subsequently shot and killed by the bodyguard.

Official Internet Rule: Any (Chinese) Twitter post that begins with ‘according to reliable source’ is almost certainly fake. But this hasn’t stopped Chinese netizens from speculating that the killing was a military coup, and posting blurry pictures purporting to show an unusual number of vehicles parked at the North Korean embassy. ChinaSMACK staff writer Joe Xu suggests reports of large number of cars at the embassy may have sparked the rumor. ‘Rumors like this pop up every other week,’ he writes on Twitter.

We will only know Kim Jong-Un’s fate for sure when a new picture of him looking at things emerges.” Read more.

Saudi Journalist Confused by Islam’s Prophet Flees to Malaysia After Tweet, Faces Death After Extradition Back to Saudi Arabia

02/09/2012 Leave a comment

Apparently, Allah is only “the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful” when you’re not confused …

“A YOUNG Saudi journalist is facing calls for his execution after tweeting about the Prophet Mohammed, and the kingdom’s top clerics are demanding his trial after denouncing him as an ‘apostate’.

On the occasion of the Muslim prophet’s birthday last week, 23-year-old Hamza Kashgari tweeted: ‘I have loved things about you and I have hated things about you and there is a lot I don’t understand about you.’

‘I will not pray for you,’ he added.

The controversial tweet sparked a frenzy of responses – some 30,000, according to an online service that tracks tweets in the Arab world.

In one response, Abdullah, a lawyer, said that since Mr Kashgari was ‘an adult… we should accept nothing but implementing the ruling according to Islamic law’ or sharia.

Insulting the prophet is considered blasphemous in Islam, and is a crime punishable by death.

Mr Kashgari quickly apologised for his remarks, but the calls for his execution only multiplied.

A Facebook page entitled ‘The Saudi people demand Hamza Kashgari’s execution’ already has nearly 10,000 members.” Read more.

‘Sacrilegious’ Saudi writer arrested in Malaysia, to be extradited – “Malaysian authorities arrested a Saudi newspaper writer wanted by the Gulf kingdom for offending Islam and Prophet Mohammed… Hamza Kashgari was seized as he arrived in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday following his escape from Saudi Arabia on news that King Abdullah has ordered him arrested and prosecuted for religious insults in his articles on Twitter. ‘The Malaysian authorities are coordinating with Saudi Arabia to hand Kashgari over,’ the Saudi Arabic language daily ‘Al Youm’ said. In a separate report, newspapers quoted a statement by the kingdom’s Islamic Fatwa Committee calling for punishing Kashgari in line with Islamic law, which means he could be executed.” Read more.

Baylor University Medical Center Surgeon Says Human Body Did Not Evolve

02/08/2012 4 comments

By Brian Thomas, M.S. – “In a recent paper titled ‘Dissecting Darwinism,’ Baylor University Medical Center surgeon Joseph Kuhn described serious problems with Darwinian evolution.1 He first described how life could not possibly have come from chemicals alone, since the information residing in DNA required an input from outside of nature.2

He then addressed Darwinism’s inability to account for the all-or-nothing structure of cellular systems, including the human body. As a medical doctor, Kuhn not only knows the general arrangement of the human body’s visible parts, he also understands the interrelated biochemical systems that sustain and regulate all of those parts. He recognized that the human body contains an all-or-nothing system in which its core parts and biochemicals must exist all at once for the body to function.

Biochemist Michael Behe named these all-or-nothing systems ‘irreducibly complex.’3 Removing a single core part from one of these systems keeps the entire system from working, and this implies that the system was initially built with all of its parts intact.

This is exactly what researchers expect to see if God purposely created living systems, rather than if natural processes accidentally built living systems bit-by-bit—as Darwinian philosophy maintains.

Kuhn cited the work of another medical doctor, Geoffrey Simmons, who described 17 ‘all or nothing’ human body systems.4 These combine with many others to form the entire human body—a system of systems—that is irreducible at many levels, from gross anatomy to biochemistry. For example, just as a woman would die without her heart, she would also die without the vital blood biochemical hemoglobin.

But even an intact heart and hemoglobin need regulation. A heart that beats too fast or too slow can be just as Read more…

India: Google and Facebook Remove Anti-Islamic Content After Court Warning

02/06/2012 Leave a comment

Here’s an update on this story

“Internet giants Google Inc and Facebook removed content from some Indian domain websites on Monday following a court directive warning them of a crackdown ‘like China’ if they did not take steps to protect religious sensibilities.

The two are among 21 companies asked to develop a mechanism to block objectionable material after a private petitioner took them to court over images deemed offensive to Hindus, Muslims and Christians.

The case has stoked fears about censorship in the world’s largest democracy.

‘(Our) review team has looked at the content and disabled this content from the local domains of search, Youtube and Blogger,’ Google spokeswoman Paroma Chaudhry said.

At the heart of the dispute is a law that India passed last year making companies responsible for user content posted on their web sites, and giving them 36 hours to take down content if there’s a complaint.

Last month, the companies said it was not possible for them to block content. Google’s Chaudhry declined to comment on what had since been removed, and a Facebook representative said only that the company would release a statement later.

A lower court in New Delhi told the companies on Monday to put in writing the steps they had taken to block offensive content, and submit reports to the court within 15 days.

Google, Facebook, Yahoo! and Microsoft have appealed in the Delhi High Court against a criminal case successfully brought by a Hindu petitioner. A civil case against them has been brought to a lower court by a Muslim petitioner.” Read more.

Viral Facebook Photo of ‘IDF Soldier’ Pointing Gun at Girl is Fake

02/05/2012 Leave a comment

“A photograph that went viral on Facebook this week, showing what was claimed to be an Israel Defense Forces soldier pointing a weapon at a young Palestinian girl, prompted anger and cries for clarification across the social network.

The photo, uploaded by a Facebook user named Wesley Muahammad, shows a uniform-clad soldier, his face out of frame, pressing a boot to the stomach of a helpless girl lying on the floor while pointing an AK-47 rifle at her face.

Soon after the picture began circling the social network, Facebook users began refuting its authenticity. Many posted the photograph again, explaining that the caption claiming the soldier was Israeli had to be false because his uniform was not that of the IDF’s, nor does the Israeli army regularly use AK-47s.

‘Don’t believe everything you see on the Internet,’ wrote blogger Omar Dakhane, who uploaded a wider framed version of the image, showing a crowd surrounding the soldier and the girl. ‘This picture was taken in Bahrain 2009 during a street theater.’

Other refuters said the photograph was taken during a riot in Syria.

The wider framed shot also shows that the soldier has a home-made Israeli flag patch pinned to his jacket, and the crowd of bystanders watching the scene without any moving toward the soldier or the girl.

The photograph was taken down on Wednesday, although by the time any action was taken, it had already become an internet sensation.” Source – Haaretz.

Egypt: 79 Die in Violent Soccer Riot, Egyptian Member of Parliament Already Blaming America and Israel

02/02/2012 1 comment

Don’t be surprised if the Muslim Brotherhood is inspired by MP Mustafa Bakri and soon echoes similar sentiments. If they think about it too long, they’ll convince themselves that this would have never happened if Jews didn’t exist …

By Mohamed Fadel Fahmy and Ian Lee – “Cairo (For CNN) — Egyptians began three days of mourning Thursday for the 79 people who perished at a violent soccer riot, as the nation’s fledgling parliament erupted in anger over the national tragedy.

The speaker of the parliament ordered an end to a live broadcast of Thursday’s parliament session, so heated was the debate. But the order was retracted after angry lawmakers made their objections known.

A deputy of the Muslim Brotherhood’s Freedom and Justice Party demanded the resignation of the interior minister, holding him responsible for the loss of lives. Another deputy accused security guards of allowing fans to bring weapons into the stadium in Port Said.

A committee will investigate the circumstances that caused the deadly riot Wednesday at the match pitting Cairo’s Al-Ahly team against Al-Masry of Port Said.

It remained unclear whether the riots were ignited by intense sporting rivalry or political strife. Egyptians just marked the one-year anniversary of their revolution that toppled the longtime dictatorship of Hosni Mubarak.

In Cairo’s Tahrir Square, somber protesters, many dressed in popular Al-Ahly club attire, decried Egypt’s Supreme Council of the Armed Forces even though Field Marshall Mohamed Tantawi had tried to allay their fears.

‘This period, I assure you, will be peaceful. Egypt will be stable again,’ Tantawi said in a statement released to Egyptian media. ‘The military council is executing a road map to transfer the authority to an elected civilian entity. … Whoever has any plot against Egypt will not succeed.'” Read more.

Genie’s Out of the Bottle: Djinns Blamed for ‘Fires’ Erupting at House in Saudi Arabia

02/01/2012 Leave a comment

“Two Saudi brothers who were scared out of their home and moved to another house because of repeated mystery fires were shocked to find that fires had not stopped at the old house. A week after they settled down in the new house, a big blaze erupted and damaged a large part of it.

The two were then convinced that Jinn (ghosts) were behind the blazes and their theory was supported by the police and a Moslem scholar who said he himself witnessed the fire at the house in the southern town of Bisha.

But that was not the opinion of the Saudi civil defence, who believe all the fires were an act of arson.

Quoted by the Saudi Arabic language daily Okaz, the two brothers, Fahd and Bandar Al Gamdi, said they were forced to move to another house nearly three km away from the old house because of persistent fires.

‘But fires did not stop at the old house and they then spread to the new house, forcing my brother to move to another house,’ Fahd said.

Sheikh Mohammed Al Omari, a well known scholar in that town, said he was called by the two brothers to read Koran and ‘evict the jinn out of the house.’

‘As I started to read in one room, a fire erupted but was put out by the civil defence units who were there at that time,’ he said.

‘I then moved to another room and started reading Koran when a fire flared…fire erupted in every room I moved to and then I felt the Jinn movements…I was not scared and kept reading Koran.’

The paper quoted police spokesman Major Abdullah Al Shaathan as saying investigation showed there was no act of arson as no one could sneak into that house, adding that forensic experts found no electric or building faults.

‘These fires are abnormal or in other words are supernatural…we are still working on the final report which includes statements by neighbours.'” Read more.

New Bible Yanks ‘Father,’ Jesus as ‘Son of God’

01/30/2012 Leave a comment

1 John 4:15, “Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.”

John 15:5-6, “I am the vine, you [are] the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw [them] into the fire, and they are burned.”

Altering God-inspired Scripture and its intended meaning in an effort to be more “appealing” to Islamic sensitivities carries with it the serious risk of leading many into an apostate form of “Christianity.” As the article below demonstrates, such efforts have done precisely that. Although I understand what these publishers are attempting to do, this is not the right way to do it. In a day and age where spiritual darkness increasingly engulfs the Muslim world, it is not the Biblical text that needs to be altered, but rather the Islamic misconceptions of some of the most basic tenets upon which Christianity is built. His Word is a lamp unto our feet. It is a light unto our path. And the original words chosen by the Spirit should be left as the Spirit intended. Anything else may simply cause them to stumble …

By Joel Richardson – “In the world of questionable and sometimes downright silly Bible translations, one would think that it couldn’t get any worse.

After all, we’ve seen the ‘In da beginnin’ Big Daddy created da heaven an’ da earth’ Ebonics Bible, as well as the ‘Apostle’s Log’ Star Trek English paraphrase Bible. In a more serious effort, the New Oxford Annotated Bible was created in part by pro-‘gay’ and feminist scholars in order to set forth a more ‘gay’ revisionist interpretation of Scripture.

But now there is a major controversy developing as the latest altered Bibles are being created by organizations that most would think of as being more conservative and reasonable. At the forefront of the controversy are the Wycliffe Bible Translators, the Summer Institute of Linguistics and Frontiers, all of which are producing Bible translations that remove or modify terms which they have deemed offensive to Muslims.

That’s right: Muslim-friendly Bibles.

Included in the controversial development is the removal of any references to God as ‘Father,’ to Jesus as the ‘Son’ or ‘the Son of God.’ One example of such a change can be seen in an Arabic version of the Gospel of Matthew produced and promoted by Frontiers and SIL. It changes Matthew 28:19 from this:

‘baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit’

to this:

‘cleanse them by water in the name of Allah, his Messiah and his Holy Spirit.’

A large number of such Muslim-sensitive translations already are published and well-circulated in several Muslim-majority nations such as Bangladesh, Indonesia and Malaysia.

According to Joshua Lingel of i2 Ministries, ‘Even more dramatic a change is the Arabic and Bangla (Bangladesh) translations. In Arabic, Bible translations err by translating ‘Father’ as ‘Lord.’ ‘Guardian.’ ‘Most High’ and ‘God.” In Bangla, ‘Son of God’ is mistranslated ‘Messiah of God’ consistent with the Quran’s Isa al-Masih (Jesus the Messiah), which references the merely human Jesus.’

In response to these translations, many within the evangelical missions movement as well as many former Muslim converts and indigenous Christians from countries where these translations are being used, are Read more…

Haitians Turning to Christ, Abandoning Voodoo Practices 2 Years After Devastating Earthquake

01/28/2012 Leave a comment

This is a major step forward for many Haitians. Please keep the people of Haiti in your prayers as they continue their spiritual growth away from darkness …

By Stoyan Zaimov – “Two years after a devastating earthquake killed an estimated 300,000 people in Haiti, Christianity is fast replacing Voodoo in the lives and practices of the people, a missionary has revealed.

According to the Central Intelligence Agency World Factbook, there is a fusion of beliefs in Haiti – 80 percent of people profess to be Catholic, and another 16 percent are Protestant yet roughly half of the population still practices Voodoo.

However, it is no secret that Christianity has been expanding as a religion in Haiti – and a host of Christian missionaries and charity organizations who flew to the Caribbean nation to help the millions in desperate need have also contributed to a large conversion movement.

One such group, the Haiti Foundation of Hope, a Christian organization addressing the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of the people in the impoverished rural communities of northern Haiti, has built a number of community health programs in local villages and has seen firsthand people giving up their Voodoo beliefs and turning to Christ.

‘The background of the religious belief in Haiti has been Voodoo. This came from Africa, and has been integrated into Catholicism. My experience is that as Haitians have come to know the love of Christ, there has been a huge number of people who have left the Voodoo and turned to Christ,’ Linda Markee told The Christian Post. Markee is the secretary, board and founding member of the Haiti Foundation of Hope and has spent two years living and working in the Caribbean nation.

‘After the earthquake especially, people were turning to the Lord. Every single person that was in Haiti felt the earthquake – it wasn’t just people in Port-au-Prince that felt it. Everyone has been affected by it – most have lost family members. In a country where there is no real decentralization of the government – they all felt it. And I have seen people come to Christ, and have not gone back to Voodoo.'” Read more.

State Department Official: President Obama Plans to Accelerate Speed of American Aid to Egypt

01/26/2012 Leave a comment

Note to Obama: The Muslim Brotherhood is about to control Egypt. The Muslim Brotherhood wants to cancel the peace treaty with Israel and kill all the Jews. Yes, Egypt needs help, Obama, but not that kind of help. If you still insist on giving aid to Egypt, it seems to me that you need help, too …

By Warren Strobel – “(Reuters) – U.S. President Barack Obama plans to accelerate the pace of American aid to Egypt, a top State Department official said on Wednesday, as the most populous Arab nation reaches a critical stage in its uncertain transition away from autocratic rule.

Undersecretary of State Robert Hormats, part of a U.S. delegation that held unprecedented talks last week with Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood, said Washington wanted to provide ‘more immediate benefits’ to Egyptians, who earlier this month conducted their first democratic elections in decades.

‘During this period, we want to be as supportive as we can. This is an historic moment. Egypt’s a country of enormous importance,’ Hormats said.

Under the plan, some non-urgent U.S. aid slated for other countries – he did not name them – would be redirected to Egypt. And funding in the pipeline for long-term programs in Egypt would be shifted to quick-impact projects, he said.

Hormats, speaking to Reuters on the sidelines of the annual World Economic Forum, emphasized that the White House had not made any final decisions, and that he was providing Washington’s “broad thinking” on the subject.

It was unclear whether the total amount of U.S. aid to Egypt would be increased. ‘Whether it’s an increase or whether it’s reprioritizing existing assistance, we’re still working this out,’ Hormats said.

Still, he made clear the United States wants to be seen as doing more to assist a hoped-for democratic evolution in Egypt, where the military still holds ultimate power on the first anniversary of protests that ousted President Hosni Mubarak.” Read more.

US Outraged as Egypt Bars Americans From Leaving Country, Including Son of Ray LaHood

01/26/2012 Leave a comment

Maybe if they hadn’t taken a Chevy to the airport things would have turned out differently …

By Patrick Werr and Tom Perry – “(Reuters) – Six Americans working for publicly funded U.S. organizations promoting democracy in Egypt have been barred from leaving the country, provoking angry demands in Washington that Cairo’s new military rulers stop “endangering American lives”.

Among those hit by travel bans – one of those targeted called it ‘de facto detention’ – is a son of U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, as well as other foreign staffers of the International Republican Institute and National Democratic Institute, officials at the two organizations said on Thursday.

The United States said Egypt should reverse them: ‘We are urging the government of Egypt to lift these restrictions immediately and allow these folks to come home as soon as possible,’ State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland said.

A month after police raided the Cairo offices of the IRI, NDI and eight other non-governmental organizations, it raises the stakes for Washington, which had already indicated it may review the $1.3 billion it gives the Egyptian military each year if the probe into alleged breaches of local regulations went on.

Some see it as a poor omen for Egypt’s fledgling democracy following last year’s overthrow of Hosni Mubarak.

John McCain, the leading Republican senator who chairs the IRI, voiced ‘alarm and outrage’ at a ‘new and disturbing turn’ which included a travel ban on Sam LaHood, the group’s Egypt director and son of President Barack Obama’s transport chief.

The younger LaHood said he was stopped at Cairo airport on Saturday and prevented from boarding a flight out.

McCain, in a statement referring to Egypt’s ruling military council, said: ‘I call on the Egyptian government and the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces to cease the harassment and unwarranted investigations of American NGOs operating in Egypt.’

‘This crisis has escalated to the point that it now endangers the lives of American citizens and could set back the long-standing partnership between the United States and Egypt.'” Read more.

US Bans Jewish Parliament Member From the US But Allows Hamas and Ahmadinejad

Makes a lot of sense. If you’ve got that lobotomy thing going on …

By Hezki Ezra and Chana Ya’ar -“MK Michael Ben Ari is still being refused a visa to enter the United States – but the lawmaker says Hamas terrorists are allowed to visit.

In an interview with Arutz Sheva’s Hebrew news service, Ben Ari said Wednesday that he is ”still waiting’ for a visa to visit the U.S.’ Ben Ari noted that even after thousands of people were killed in the September 11, 2001 multi-site Al Qaeda terrorist attack on America, ‘The United States allows terrorists to enter its territory.’

The lawmaker contended that ‘It shows something about the country, that what may happen to the next set of Twin Towers is not so important to them.’

The MK said he also asked U.S. Ambassador to Israel Dan Shapiro about the problem with the visa, but that Shapiro replied such things were ‘not his responsibility.’

Shapiro also told the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee on Wednesday that he ‘can’t speculate’ on whether President Barack Obama might consider commuting the sentence of imprisoned spy Jonathan Pollard to time served. MK Meir Sheetrit also asked the ambassador why MK Michael Ben Ari was unable to obtain a visa to enter the U.S., noting that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejaad and Hamas terrorists have been able to do so.” Source – INN.

Flashback: Muslim Brotherhood Gaining Foothold in U.S. Government? – “They were the first modern terrorists and the forerunner of al Qaeda. But these days, the Muslim Brotherhood is becoming mainstream not only in Egypt, but in Washington, D.C. While the final chapter of the so-called Arab Spring has yet to be written, it appears that radical Islamic forces could emerge as the big winners. None more so than the Muslim Brotherhood. In Egypt, Tunisia, Libya, Syria and Jordan, the Brotherhood has used unrest to increase its influence. The group is also making inroads closer to home, according to one expert. ‘Their goal is primarily deception, manipulation and intelligence gathering,’ former FBI Special Agent John Guandolo said. Guandolo said Brotherhood operatives have infiltrated the halls of power in Washington, D.C.” Read more.
