Planning On Visiting a Muslim Country During Ramadan? You Might Want to Think Twice …

“Islam is the only religion in the world that forces its adherents, under penalty of law, to keep its religious traditions.

On this Arabic TV show host Rashid recently listed the penalties for eating publicly in Muslim countries during Ramadan. Morocco’s criminal code stipulates that any Muslim found eating in a public place during Ramadan will be fined and imprisoned from one to six months. In Qatar the penalty is not limited to Muslims; anyone including non-Muslim expatriates and foreign workers caught eating, drinking, or smoking in public will be fined and put in prison up to three months. The penalty in the UAE and Kuwait also applies to all, Muslims as well as non-Muslims, although the imprisonment is only one month.

Egypt’s constitution does not ban eating publicly in Ramadan, but 155 Christians were arrested in one province alone, Aswan, in 2009 for eating publicly. With the collapse of the government and the rise of the Muslim Brotherhood and Salafist movements, there is no telling how many will be arrested, persecuted, or harassed this year.

In Iran in 2004, a 14-year old youth died as a result of the 85 lashes he received for eating during Ramadan. In Algeria in 2010, Algerian Christians who were tried for eating publicly during Ramadan were sentenced to three years in prison, although the sentence was commuted as a result of media attention. At the beginning of Ramadan each year in Saudi Arabia, guest workers are warned that if they eat publicly during the month they will be arrested and subject to imprisonment and deportation.” Read more.

European Concerns Over Muslim Immigration Go Mainstream

By Soeren Kern – “A new opinion survey shows that more than half of all Europeans believe there are too many immigrants in their countries and that immigration is having a negative impact on their lives.

The findings – which come as Europeans are waking up to the consequences of decades of mass immigration from Muslim countries – point to a growing disconnect between European voters and their political masters regarding multicultural policies that encourage Muslim immigrants to remain segregated rather than become integrated into their host nations.

The survey results mirror the findings of dozens of other recent polls. Taken together, they provide ample empirical evidence that scepticism about Muslim immigration is not limited to a ‘right-wing’ political fringe, as proponents of multiculturalism often assert. Mainstream voters across the entire political spectrum are now expressing concerns about the role of Islam in Europe.

The ‘Global Views on Immigration’ survey was conducted by the London-based Ipsos global research firm and published on August 4. It polled citizens in nine European countries: Belgium, Britain, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Spain and Sweden.

The poll shows a close correlation between the views the natives of a given country have about immigration and the number of, and level of, integration of Muslim immigrants in their countries.

For example, the poll finds that Belgians and Britons hold the most negative views on immigration; these countries also have some of the least integrated Muslim populations in Europe. The poll also shows that among Europeans, Poles have the most positive views on immigration and immigrants; Poland happens to have Europe’s smallest Muslim community, which comprises less than 0.1% of that country’s total population.” Read more.

Hal Lindsey Falsely Announces the Fulfillment of Daniel 2

By Joel Richardson – “This past week, well-known prophecy teacher Hal Lindsey pointed to a recent development within the European Union, claiming it to be a significant fulfillment of Bible Prophecy. Specifically, Lindsey highlighted the Western European Union (WEU), a group of ten nations including Germany, France, the UK, Belgium, Luxembourg, Greece, Portugal, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain. Lindsey claimed was that this group has suddenly been invested with new ‘critical powers’ and that this group is in fact the ten nation coalition of the Antichrist as described in Daniel 2. Following are Lindsey’s comments as they appear on his web site:

… the European Union, though currently gripped in the throes of economic upheaval, is still moving forward to solidify its role in the final days of this Age. In fact, on July 1, 2011, a major milestone was quietly passed in the evolution of that body. Remember Daniel’s interpretation of King Nebuchadnezzar’s dream of an image constructed of various metals? Remember his description of the final kingdom consisting of ‘ten kings?’ Remember hearing that this could not be the EU because it has 27 members? Well, on July 1, the EU formally invested certain critical powers always reserved to the core group known as the ‘Western European Union,’ in a new ‘Permanent Council.’ By its own choice and in its own official documents, that group is hereinafter to be known as ‘The Ten.’

Eerily familiar, isn’t it?

But are events in Western Europe truly as significant as Lindsey is leading his listeners to believe? A simple examination of the facts show just the opposite.

For review, first Lindsey mentioned the ten nation coalition known as the WEU, then he stated that this group has now been invested with new ‘critical powers’, then he connected this development to a passage from the prophet Daniel that speaks of the final ten nation alliance of the Antichrist.

So is Lindsey correct? Is the WEU in fact the final Antichrist alliance as predicted in the Bible?

Sadly, Lindsey is very misinformed on this issue and his report is highly misleading. In fact, when one actually looks up what these new ‘critical powers’ are, they are little more than the provision to oversee their own permanent dissolution, not an exaltation of their collective status. That’s right, on June 30, the WEU was officially declared defunct.

The People of the Prince to Come: A Roman-European Antichrist? – “Many have traditionally believed that since the army that destroyed the city and the sanctuary in 70 AD was considered Roman then this, therefore, must mean that according to Daniel 9:26 the Antichrist would rise out of Europe. The majority of popular Biblical eschatology teachers today, even in light of events happening on the global stage, still teach an Antichrist who comes out of Europe, a charismatic leader that rises from within the European Union to then lead a One World Government. Writers have published novels such as the ‘Left Behind’ series promoting it, even Christian movies have been inspired and produced by this very idea. However, although the people of the prince to come mentioned in Daniel 9:26 may have been considered ‘Roman’ soldiers merely because they were (supposedly) under the command of Rome, many of these same teachers have either ignored or were just not aware of the following very significant fact.” Read more.

Canada: Windsor, Ontario Mystified by Whole Lotta Shakin’ Underground

And now, those mysterious rumblings under the city have found a new believer — the city’s Ward 10 Coun. Al Maghnieh, who says it’s time to start taking the phenomenon seriously.

‘It’s very present and real,’ he said.

Maghnieh added that those who think the phenomenon is a joke or that its proponents are ‘crazy’ need to grasp the implications in terms of health and the environment.

‘I mean, it’s actually scary to think that this is going on and we still can’t pinpoint what it is,’ he said.

‘This is potentially very dangerous.’

Maghnieh said he first started receiving calls from concerned citizens back in March.

But it wasn’t until the early hours of Friday morning — when he’d arranged to visit the homes of rumble witnesses — that he experienced the sensation himself.

‘It’s a very sharp, consistent rumble sound,’ Maghnieh said. ‘Sometimes it’s like a hum.’

The city councillor said that at one point, he put a half-full water bottle on the ground and could see the vibrations causing ripples on the water’s surface.

At another point, he could hear the aluminum siding of a house rattle due to the vibrations.

‘It was very obvious. It was very evident,’ Maghnieh said. ‘It sent shivers up my spine.'” Read more.

“A hair-thin electronic patch that adheres to the skin like a temporary tattoo could transform medical sensing, computer gaming and even spy operations, according to a US study published Thursday.

The micro-electronics technology, called an epidermal electronic system (EES), was developed by an international team of researchers from the United States, China and Singapore, and is described in the journal Science.

‘It’s a technology that blurs the distinction between electronics and biology,’ said co-author John Rogers, a professor in materials science and engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

‘Our goal was to develop an electronic technology that could integrate with the skin in a way that is mechanically and physiologically invisible to the user.’

The patch could be used instead of bulky electrodes to monitor brain, heart and muscle tissue activity and when placed on the throat it allowed users to operate a voice-activated video game with better than 90 percent accuracy.

‘This type of device might provide utility for those who suffer from certain diseases of the larynx,’ said Rogers. ‘It could also form the basis of a sub-vocal communication capability, suitable for covert or other uses.’

The wireless device is nearly weightless and requires so little power it can fuel itself with miniature solar collectors or by picking up stray or transmitted electromagnetic radiation, the study said.

Less than 50-microns thick — slightly thinner than a human hair — the devices are able to adhere to the skin without glue or sticky material.” Read more.

No Joke: Iran Calls on the British Police to ‘Exercise Restraint’ Against Violent Protesters

The epitome of hypocrisy.  British police largely stood back initially, unable to quell the rioting, yet Iran urges ‘restraint’ and seeks ‘independent human rights organizations to investigate the killing in order to protect the civil rights and civil liberties’ of victims, notwithstanding the bloody fact that Iran — who killed scores of its own people in an effort to crush the 2009 ‘Green Revolution‘ — to this day has said nothing against Syria that is currently killing hundreds, even thousands, of protesters demanding Assad’s removal and their own civil rights.  Instead, the Iranians are bent on keeping their ally Assad in power and are even assisting his murderous killing spree against the people of Syria …

“Iran has called on the British police to exercise restraint against people protesting over the killing of a Black man in London.

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast urged the British government to order the police to stop their violent confrontation with the people, IRNA reported in the early hours of Tuesday.

Mehmanparast asked the British government to start dialogue with the protesters and to listen to their demands in order to calm the situation down.

The Iranian official also asked independent human rights organizations to investigate the killing in order to protect the civil rights and civil liberties.

The unrest began on Saturday when a few hundred people gathered outside a police station in Tottenham to protest against the fatal shooting of Mark Duggan on Thursday.

The protesters also set a bus and buildings on fire on High Road and broke many shop windows.

Turmoil is now threatening to sweep across all of Britain as the unfolding mayhem and looting has also raged the central city of Birmingham, the western city of Bristol, the northwestern city of Liverpool, and south London neighborhood of Brixton.

Police said they have arrested more than 200 people since the unrest began.” Source.

UN Report: ‘Iran caught 10 times trying to send arms to terrorists’ – Iran has been caught red-handed in 10 different attempts in recent years to transfer weaponry to terrorists throughout the Middle East, including a recent case, in April, when a shipment of advanced missiles was caught en-route to Taliban forces in Afghanistan, according to a United Nations report obtained Thursday by The Jerusalem Post. The report was submitted three weeks ago to the Security Council by a UN group of experts that monitors compliance with UN sanctions imposed on Iran. Canada: Customers Fume as Gas Stations Run Dry

By Wendy Gillis and Liam Casey – “Drivers looking to fuel up at Toronto gas stations Tuesday found the pumps dry — a phenomenon that some experts say will become more familiar in the future.

Shell stations across the GTA displayed ‘No Gas’ signs after a delay at their refinery in Sarnia caused supply shortages.

‘Customers are getting mad,’ said Damodar Madhi, an employee at the Shell station near Lake Shore Blvd. and Third St. in Etobicoke, after his station ran out of gas Tuesday morning.

His station hadn’t received a delivery since the weekend, and he had no idea when their next shipment was coming.

Gas shortages in the GTA and across the country will be the new normal, according to experts and Natural Resources Canada. Refineries across the country are pushing out gasoline at or near capacity, and without ‘new refining capacity, supply interruptions could become more frequent and increasingly difficult to manage,’ according to the Natural Resources Canada’s website.

Jeff Gabert, a Shell spokesperson, said the gas company has been experiencing a fuel shortage for the past week, leaving some stations without gas in the GTA, Sarnia and London. Their refinery in Sarnia was shut down for maintenance that lasted a week longer than expected — something that happens frequently at refineries — causing an internal shortage of fuel.

When the company turned to other suppliers in Ontario, including Esso and Suncor, they didn’t have any fuel to spare.” Read more.

Update August 8, 2011: Hawaii DOH Refuses to Comply with Subpoena, Federal Judge Tells Hawaii Officials to Explain Obama’s Birth Records – “California attorney Orly Taitz today secured an order from United States District Court Magistrate Judge Richard L. Puglisi demanding representatives of the Hawaii Department of Health appear in federal court Sept. 14 to show why Taitz should be prevented from seeing whatever original 1961 documents the agency has on record regarding Barack Obama’s birth.

Taitz returned to federal court in Honolulu today after Hawaii DOH officials presented her with a letter refusing to comply with her subpoena on grounds that Hawaii privacy laws prevented officials from releasing Obama birth records to the public.

‘It’s ridiculous,’ Taitz told WND.

She had argued previously – without getting a response from the state – that Obama had waived all privacy rights by releasing his long-form birth certificate to the American public at a White House press conference April 27.

The ExParte Emergency Motion for Order to Show Cause and to Compel Attendance for Production of Documents that Taitz filed with the federal magistrate asked the court to demand Hawaii DOH head Loretta Fuddy appear in court to explain why she would not comply with the subpoena.

‘Getting a federal judge to demand Fuddy’s attendance at a show-cause hearing is a victory,’ Taitz said. ‘I will return to Hawaii on Sept. 14 and I expect then to be able to force the Hawaii DOH to turn over the relevant records as demanded by the subpoena.'” Read more.

Subpoena to be Delivered, Obama Birth Certificate to be Examined in Hawaii on August 8th, 2011 – “Computer scanning expert Doug Vogt and typesetting expert Paul Irey say they will accompany attorney Orly Taitz when she presents to the Hawaii Department of Health a subpoena that should allow her to examine Barack Obama’s original 1961 typewritten birth certificate.

Vogt and Irey both told WND they are making travel plans to join Taitz in Honolulu when she goes to the state agency at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 8, to present the subpoena in person.

‘We will plan to hold a press conference late in the day of Aug. 8,’ Vogt said, ‘and if the document we see varies from the birth certificate documents the White House released, we plan to file criminal charges in Hawaii immediately.’

Vogt shared with WND a copy of a letter he has written to Hawaii Attorney General David Louie, putting Louie on notice regarding the reasons he believes the birth certificate released by the White House is fraudulent.

WND previously reported on Vogt’s decision to file a 22-page criminal complaint with the FBI.

Irey says it won’t take long to evaluate the original birth record, if it exists.

‘Over the years of my career, I’ve seen everything that can be put on paper,’ he said. ‘Now that I’m thoroughly familiar with what the White House released, I will be able to tell you within a few minutes, if what the Hawaii DOH has matches what the White House has released, or not.

‘I will expect to see the same differences in typeface that are on the White House version, otherwise I will know immediately that what the Hawaii DOH is showing us is a forgery.'” Read more.

US: Army Approves Atheism-Themed Concert at Fort Bragg, Fools Rush In

By TOM BREEN – “RALEIGH, N.C. — A concert event organized by atheist, agnostic and other non-theist soldiers has been cleared by the Army to take place next spring at Fort Bragg, concert organizers and a spokesman for the post said Monday.

Organizers planned to hold the Rock Beyond Belief event this year, but they canceled after saying Bragg leadership was not providing the same support it gave to an evangelical Christian concert last fall.

Supporters hailed the Army’s decision.

‘You know those goosebumps you get when your favorite song hits that sweet spot? I got those,’ said Sgt. Justin Griffith, main organizer of the event and the military director of American Atheists, in an email. ‘I was overcome with joy and a sense of vindication.’

The plan is to hold the event on March 31 at the main parade field at Fort Bragg, where the Christian-themed Rock the Fort concert was held. Famed atheist Richard Dawkins is scheduled to appear, along with musicians, speakers and other entertainment.” Read more.

US Air Force Suspends Decades-Old Bible-Centric Ethics Training – “The Air Force has suspended decades-old Bible-centric ethics training intended to make Christian officers comfortable with the possible use of nuclear weapons. The training program was given to all new missile officers by Air Force chaplains… The training slides include quotations from the Bible, portraits of Christian saints, prophets, and famous American generals known for their faith, including George Washington, Union Army Gen. Joshua Chamberlain, and Confederate Gen. Thomas ‘Stonewall’ Jackson.” Read more.

US: Churches to Read Torah in Response to Other ‘Churches’ That Read From the Qur’an

By Gil Ronen – “Churches in the U.S. are preparing to read sections of the Torah on Sunday, August 13, in a show of solidarity with Israel and the Jewish people.

The move is a response to an initiative by a group of churches that read from the Muslim Koran during their services on Sunday, June 26. According to the Faith Shared project, which initiated the Koran reading, 66 churches from 32 states joined that effort.

In an effort to counter the move, a grassroots movement of churches across America is preparing to read from sections of the Torah during their services.

According to Pastor Mark Biltz, one of the pastors leading the move, while Jewish communities around the world read the Shema prayer, Christian communities will join them in solidarity. ‘There is a special bond between Jews and Christians, as both hold as the greatest commandment to love the L-rd their G-d with all their heart,’ Pastor Biltz explained. ‘So I’ve also posted the Shema in as many languages as I could find on our website so everyone could see it.’

‘I am asking in a show of solidarity with the G-d of Israel, the G-d of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob that churches/organizations join together in one accord and read from the Torah during their Saturday/Sunday services this coming August 13 and 14,’ he wrote.

Biltz went on to say that ‘The suggested reading from this Torah portion is the greatest commandment, found in Deuteronomy 6:4-9, that we love the Lord with all our heart, soul and strength.’

The pastor is referring to the verses after the one-line Shema prayer. The reading will obviously not be from a parchment hand-written Torah scroll.

‘It is known in Judaism as the Shema and begins with asking Israel to hear and obey the Lord and realize He is the one and only G-d. This date was chosen because the Jewish people all over the world will be reading that portion on that weekend. So Christians will literally be joining a chorus of voices proclaiming on earth and to the heavens that the G-d of Israel is the One and Only G-d and that we are to love Him above all others!! This weekend also is the weekend right after the Ninth of Av and begins the readings of speaking comfort to Jerusalem.'” Read more.

Rewriting History: Obama Spreads False Claim That Thomas Jefferson Hosted First Ramadan Iftar Dinner at White House

“The State Department retails the PC myth in this article, ‘Thomas Jefferson’s Iftar,’ July 29. Nor is this the first time this falsehood has gone around: the State announcement quotes Barack Obama saying last year: ‘Ramadan is a reminder that Islam has always been a part of America. The first Muslim ambassador to the United States, from Tunisia, was hosted by President Jefferson, who arranged a sunset dinner for his guest because it was Ramadan — making it the first known iftar at the White House, more than 200 years ago.’
