By Eyder Peralta, NPR – “Amnesty International has released stunning satellite imagery that it says ‘show devastation of catastrophic proportions’ in Baga and Doron Baga, two towns in northeastern Nigeria that were attacked by Boko Haram.

As we’ve pointed out in the past few days, there has been confusion over just how deadly this attack was. Amnesty International has consistently said that the Islamic militants tore through the towns, burning buildings and killing as many as 2,000 people. The government, however, has denied those claims, saying the death toll is closer to 150.

The new images, the human rights group says, show the government estimates are wrong.

‘Up until now, the isolation of the Baga combined with the fact that Boko Haram remains in control of the area has meant that it has been very difficult to verify what happened there,’ said Daniel Eyre, Amnesty Nigeria researcher said in a statement. ‘Residents have not been able to return to bury the dead, let alone count their number. But through these satellite images combined with graphic testimonies a picture of what is likely to be Boko Haram’s deadliest attack ever is becoming clearer.'” Read more.

allAfrica – “Al-Shabaab militants have set fire to vehicles transporting food aid to Goof Gaduud district in Bay region, Somalia’s Radio Danan reported Thursday (January 8th).

Vehicles carrying bagaash, or smaller food items, were waylaid before they were set ablaze, said Goof Gaduud District Commissioner Ahmed Adan Mohamed.

The vehicles were bringing food aid from Baidoa to Goof Gaduud residents, he said, adding that the motive for the attack is not clear.

By Pete Williams and M. Alex Johnson, NBC News – “An Ohio man who allegedly wanted to set up an ISIS cell in the U.S. was arrested Wednesday and accused of planning to attack the U.S. Capitol. But U.S. officials told NBC News the man was dealing with a government informer working undercover the entire time and was never in a position to carry out his plan.

Christopher Lee Cornell, 20, of Green Township, near Cincinnati, was arrested after he bought two M-15 semi-automatic rifles and about 600 rounds of ammunition as the undercover operative watched, according to an FBI affidavit.

Officials said Cornell never bought any components for pipe bombs. “There was never a danger to the public,” an official told NBC News.

A preliminary hearing was scheduled for Jan. 22 in U.S. District Court in Cincinnati on charges of the attempted killing of a U.S. government officer and possession of a firearm in furtherance of an attempted crime of violence.

Cornell’s father, John Cornell, said the family was blindsided by the arrest.

‘He never showed any signs of violence or anything,’ John Cornell said of his son.

The FBI said the informer alerted authorities in August that Cornell — under an alias, Raheel Mahrus Ubaydah — was posting comments on Twitter in support of ISIS. Shortly after those posts began appearing, the FBI sent the operative to meet with him undercover.

… Cornell made it clear early on that he hoped to create an ISIS cell in the U.S., telling the undercover agent in a text message: ‘I believe we should meet up and make our own group in alliance with the Islamic State here and plan operations ourselves.'” Read more.

Report: The Last Words Of The Pilot Of The Crashed AirAsia Plane Was “Allahu Akbar!”

Listening to the audio of the pilot’s final words gave investigators goose bumps, according to New Straits Times Online. Was “Allah is greater!” nothing more than simply an innocent Muslim pilot facing imminent death, or were his last words indicative of a much darker motive? The fact that at least 41 of the passengers were known to be Christians from the same church, and from a nation like Indonesia where Muslims are increasingly hostile against Christianity, certainly raises eyebrows …

“Call me an Islamophobe, but when I research the pilot from the missing flight QZ8501, Captain Iriyanto, I access the local news in Indonesian, not in English. There I find out that the pilot of the missing flight QZ8501 and like the pilot on the other missing flight MH370 are both devout Muslims, I get somewhat paranoid. Translating from Indonesian I find the following:

“Iriyanto was also active in the community as a board member and chairman of the mosque at his residence in Pondok Jati Block BC 12 Village Pagerwojo, Buduran, Sidoarjo.”

“In addition to serving as Chairman of RT 39, Iriyanto also served as a board leader of Masjid Nurul Yaqin, which is located in the housing complex.”

“He was also diligent in worship. When everyone was at home, he would certainly be seen praying in congregation in the mosque.”

Masjid Nurul Yaqin mosque is connected with Hizbut Tahrir, a major terrorist organization that wants to establish an Islamic caliphate in Indonesia and Malaysia.

From Indonesian sources, I also find out that “Before Iriyanto applied for early retirement and became a commercial airline pilot he had been a pilot in the Air Force who served in the squadron Iswahyudi Airport, Madiun, East Java flying fighter Hawk MK 50 and F-5.”

Iriyanato ‘performed operational tasks from 1983 up until 1992.’ It was such fighter jets from Indonesia that were used over East Timor and were operational till September of 1999 killing some 200,000 mostly Christian Timorese out of a total population of 600,000 which has been winked at by western powers and today western media said nothing about this pilot’s involvements?

Zaharie Ahmad Shah the captain of the other missing flight MH370 had his co-pilot also another Muslim Faruq Abdul Hamid, 27. Now I become triply somewhat paranoid.

Being just paranoid and pilots just being very devout Muslims is not 100% conclusive evidence, but when one adds the scenarios of past history, it changes things. When the first plane hit the first tower on 9-11, the TV said ‘it was a terrible accident’ and in march Flight MH370 vanished and they also said that this was a ‘terrible accident,’ yet when the second plane hit the other tower, the TV instantly said that, ‘it was definitely a terrorist attack’ and now that when flight QZ8501 also vanished should not our paranoia and phobia levels be a bit up to think that ‘Muslim terrorists’ are playing their favorite deadly pranks again?

If Iriyanto’s religion and his ‘Allahu Akbar’ turns out to be relevant, so too will the religion of his nation. Let’s overlook the fact that new-and-improved “divine revelations” render earlier “divine revelations” obsolete in the “eternal” Qur’an. Let’s forget the fact that approximately 66% of all verses in the “perfect” Qur’an have some type of variance due to the ambiguity of early Arabic text. If Islam’s “holy” book today calls Jews the most vile and hostile people on the face of the earth, then these “prophetic” words must somehow prove the Qur’an to be true. The Times of Israel – “A sheikh giving a spontaneous sermon at the al-Aqsa mosque recently called for the ‘slaughter’ of the Jews, saying they were ‘the most evil creatures to have walked this Earth.’

Omar Abu Sara was filmed at the mosque, located in the Temple Mount, on November 28. In a video made available by the Middle East Media Research Institute this week, he is seen addressing worshipers as the crowd mills about.

‘Talking about the traits of the Jews requires one to get into a special mode, because we are dealing with people to whom every single vile trait has been attributed,’ the sheikh says. ‘They were the masters of these vile traits, and they taught their secrets to others.

‘These traits were registered in the Quran, which depicted all aspects of the lives of the Jews in the most abominable images,’ he claims.

Abu Sara accuses the Jews of killing dozens of prophets, and attempting to kill the prophet Muhammad twice.

He says a battle with the Jews draws near, and praises the Islamic State “caliphate” as one of the vehicles for the Jewish people’s destruction.

‘I say to the Jews loud and clear: The time for your slaughter has come. The time to fight you has come. The time to kill you has come… Please do not leave in our hearts a single grain of mercy towards you, oh Jews, because when the day of your slaughter arrives, we shall slaughter you without mercy.'” Read more.

For the past five months a barrage of phone calls and internet postings have threatened employees. The callers vow to carry out mass murder.

ABC7 News is not identifying the business nor any individuals because of the sensitive nature of these threats.

The business is Jewish owned and some of the threats are anti-Semitic while others are racial or homophobic.

The recent terrorist attacks in Paris have employees worried.

The owner says D.C. police investigated but handed the case over to Homeland Security, which deemed the threats not credible.

Verizon says the calls are traceable but it needs police to ask it to take action.

The business owner says the detectives tell him they must hear from Verizon first.

The business owner and employees say they know of no one who has an axe to grind against them and they are baffled as to why the callers are targeting them.” Source – WJLA.

KOIN 6 News – “Over the weekend, police arrested a 19-year-old man accused of making ethnically charged threats towards a local business owner.

Abdalah Mohamed is scheduled to appear in court Monday afternoon and will be arraigned on two counts of second-degree intimidation.

Records show he was arrested Jan. 9 after a warrant was issued for his arrest Dec. 15, 2014. The case was previously dismissed, but the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office opted to re-file the case late last year.

Deputy District Attorney Richard Freud, who wrote the affidavit to support an arrest warrant, said Monday he is no longer handling the case and did not know why the case was originally dismissed and now re-issued.

According to the affidavit, Portland police responded to Ira’s Deli at Northeast 72nd and Prescott at 9:40 a.m July 14, 2014. An employee working told police that Mohamed, a frequent customer, entered the store and approached the counter. He reportedly wanted to buy a single cigarette, court documents state. When told that the business did not sell individual cigarettes, Mohamed started ‘to make threatening statements,’ Freud wrote.

The comments were disparaging toward Judaism and Israel, court documents state. ‘I will blow up your store,’ Mohamed reportedly said. ‘I’m going to take care of you, you mother (redacted).’ Police said that Mohamed also said, ‘I’ll call my people to take care of you to shoot you!’ He also reportedly said ‘I will blow up your store in the name of Allah’ and ‘I will take care of people like you!’

After the in-store incident, the employee told police that Mohamed left the store and got into a silver sedan and started …” Read more.

He said Fox News continues to utilize the nation’s most notorious Islamophobes and Islamophobia enablers — like Robert Spencer, Pamela Geller, Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Brigitte Gabriel, and Zuhdi Jasser — as regular commentators on issues related to Islam and Muslims.

So Hamas-linked CAIR wants Fox not to feature Emerson, Geller, Hirsi Ali, Gabriel, Jasser or me — just five days after claiming, in the wake of the Charlie Hebdo jihad massacre, that it supported the freedom of speech. I wrote at that time: ‘Hamas-linked CAIR is an inveterate and committed enemy of the freedom of speech, tarring and smearing anyone and everyone who dares to utter a critical word about jihad terror as a ‘racist,’ ‘bigoted’ ‘Islamophobe’ and doing everything it can to make sure that such critics are denied platforms to speak and shunned by all decent people.’ This new attempt to strong-arm Fox into dropping virtually every one of us who speaks the truth about the jihad threat just confirms that assessment.

And consider this: Hamas-linked CAIR operatives have the ear of government, law enforcement, and media. Nihad Awad or Ibrahim ‘Honest Ibe’ Hooper can pick up the phone and get a story into any major newspaper, spun just the way they want it, on demand. They’re the go-to people for every mainstream media reporter who wants a quote from a ‘moderate’ Muslim, and they’re regularly featured on TV shows on all the major networks. And yet they’re deathly afraid of six people appearing occasionally on one network. Now, why is that? The answer is obvious: Hamas-linked CAIR is dedicated to spreading a thick fog of disinformation about the jihad threat, so as to render Americans ignorant and complacent about that threat. The people they excoriate as ‘Islamophobes’ clear away that fog. Even though they have much more money and much greater access than we will ever have, they know we have one weapon they cannot defeat: the truth. By Soeren Kern, Gatestone Institute – “The offices of a German newspaper that republished satirical cartoons from Charlie Hebdo, a French magazine known for lampooning Islam, have been hit by arsonists.

No one was hurt in the attack on the Hamburger Morgenpost, which occurred in the early morning hours of January 11 and caused only minor damage.

Although police arrested two individuals in connection with the incident, their identities have not yet been released to the public. But German police said they are ‘working under the assumption’ that the attack was connected to the decision by the paper, also known as MOPO, to republish cartoons spoofing Mohammed on its front page on January 8, as an act of solidarity with the attack on the journalists of Charlie Hebdo.

Hamburg Mayor Olaf Scholz said that any attack on the press and freedom of expression is an attack on democracy. ‘A free press and freedom of expression are part of the foundation on which democracy rests,’ Scholz said. ‘A democratic society without a press-mediated conversation about the political and social issues of our time cannot be imagined.’

The attack came a day after the German newsmagazine Der Spiegel reported that Germany’s Federal Criminal Police Agency (Bundeskriminalamt, BKA) has enacted a nationwide emergency plan in an effort to prevent Islamic terrorists from striking in Germany.

According to Der Spiegel, federal and state security agencies have been ordered to locate the whereabouts of up to 250 German Islamists and other ‘relevant persons’ whose identities are known to counter-terrorism authorities. The magazine also reported that the BKA had evidence ‘that key European cities could be attacked at any time.’

In an interview with the newspaper Bild am Sonntag on January 11, German Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere confirmed that German intelligence was monitoring ‘around 260 individuals’ who could potentially strike at any moment. He said:

“We have no concrete evidence of attacks. But, as I said, we have about 260 dangerous individuals (Gefährder). We also have around 550 people who have travelled to the battle zones in Syria and Iraq. Between 150 and 180 of these have returned to Germany, and 30 of them are battle-hardened fundamentalists. They pose a serious threat to our security. I am very concerned about well-prepared perpetrators such as those in Paris, Brussels, Australia and Canada. This is a serious situation.”

Bild questioned whether Germany has enough security personnel to track all the potential terrorists. According to the newspaper, at least 60 police officers are needed to successfully monitor just one German jihadist around the clock.

De Maiziere said he was doing all he could, but he conceded: ‘So far we have been lucky. Unfortunately, this may not always be the case.'” Read more.
