MUHAMMAD’S SPIRITUAL PROBLEMS

• When Muhammad began receiving revelations, his first impression of these revelations was that they were demonic.
• Muhammad was so traumatized by his encounter with “Gabriel” that he repeatedly tried to commit suicide by hurling himself off a cliff.
• According to Muslim sources, Muhammad once delivered a revelation from the devil (the “Satanic Verses”).

MUHAMMAD’S PROBLEMS WITH PAGANISM AND IDOLATRY

1) Unrighteous acquisition of Safiya bint Huyay by torturing her husband for treasure and murdering her relatives on the same day before finally forcing himself to marry her.

2) Stealing of his adopted son’s wife, Zaynab along with encouraging his followers to steal married women in war.

3) Marriage to Aisha, who was only 6 when proposed and 9 when consummated, when Muhammad was 50 years old.

4) Hatred of Jews and Christians along with advocating murder of non-Muslims and apostates.

EXPLANATION:

1) “Kinanah b. al-Rabi b. al-Huqyaq who had the treasure of B. Nadir was brought to the Messenger of God, who questioned him; but he denied knowing where it was. Then the messenger of God was brought a Jew who said to him, “I have seen Kinanah walk around this ruin every morning.” The Messenger of God said to Kinanah: “What do you say? If we find it in your possession, I will kill you.” “All right,” he answered. The Messenger of God commanded that the ruin should be dug up, and some of the treasure was extracted from it. Then he asked him for the rest of it Kinanah refused to surrender it; so the Messenger of God gave orders concerning him to al-Zubayr b. al-’Awwam, saying, “Torture him until you root out what he has.” Al-Zubayr kept twirling his firestick in his breast until Kinanah almost expired; then the Messenger of God gave him to Muhammad b. Maslamah, who beheaded him to avenge his brother Mahmud b. Maslamah.” (Sahih Bukhari Vol.2, Book 14, No. 68)

“Narrated Anas bin Malik:

We arrived at Khaibar, and when Allah helped His Apostle to open the fort, the beauty of Safiya bint Huyai bin Akhtaq whose husband had been killed while she was a bride, was mentioned to Allah’s Apostle. The Prophet selected her for himself, and set out with her, and when we reached a place called Sidd-as-Sahba, Safiya became clean from her menses then Allah’s Apostle married her. Hais (i.e. an ‘Arabian dish) was prepared on a small leather mat. Then the Prophet said to me, “I invite the people around you.” So that was the marriage banquet of the Prophet and Safiya. Then we proceeded towards Medina, and I saw the Prophet, making for her a kind of cushion with his cloak behind him (on his camel). He then sat beside his camel and put his knee for Safiya to put her foot on, in order to ride (on the camel). (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Volume 5, Book 59, Number 522)

Revelation 13:18, “This calls for wisdom. Let the person who has insight calculate [ψηφίζω – “reckon”] the number [ἀριθμός – “multitude” of people] of the beast, for it is the number of a man …”

“There are 91 verses in the Quran that say: obeying God is obeying Muhammad and obeying Muhammad is obeying God … Therefore, Muhammad and Allah have the same standing in Islam, are equal to each other.” As I’ve noted previously, one of the reasons why Islamists despise Christians is because we associate Jesus with God, making Jesus a co-equal partner with the Almighty. Jesus being God in the flesh is one of the foundational tenets of Christianity. According to Islam, however, this Christian belief is an unpardonable sin that “Allah” will never forgive. Nonetheless, even though Islam would never teach that Mohammed is “Allah” in the flesh, it associates and equates the “prophet” of Islam with “Allah” himself repeatedly. Islam teaches that “Allah” has no partners on one hand, but on the other it contradicts itself by teaching that one cannot become a Muslim unless they acknowledge that “There is no God but Allah and Mohammed is his messenger” per the Shahada. In Islam, a Muslim’s “salvation” is entirely determined by their obedience and devotion to Mohammed, effectively elevating the “prophet” of Islam to the same co-equal status of Islam’s own deity. To acknowledge “Allah” is not enough. You must acknowledge the “perfect man” Mohammed as well. This, of course, begs the question: Since Mohammed is co-equal with “Allah”, what does the “prophet’s” moral character reveal about the nature of “Allah”? …

Hadith Bukhari 2996, “… [Mohammed] said, ‘Become Muslim and you will be safe. Know that the earth belongs to Allah AND His Messenger. I want to expel you from this land. Whoever of you has some property should sell it. However, the earth belongs to Allah AND His Messenger.’”

Qur’an Sura 3:31, “… If you should love Allah, THEN FOLLOW ME [Mohammed], so Allah will love you and forgive you your sins …”

Qur’an Sura 48:10, “Indeed, those who pledge allegiance to you, [O Muhammad] – they are actually pledging allegiance to Allah …”

Qur’an Sura 4:80, “He who obeys the Messenger [Mohammed] has obeyed Allah …”

Qur’an Sura 33:36, “It is not fitting for a [Muslim], man or woman, when a matter has been decided by Allah and His Messenger to have any option about their decision: if any one disobeys Allah and His Messenger, he is indeed on a clearly wrong Path.”

Islam Watch – “For Islam to be true, both Muhammad and his supposed God [Allah] must be of moral perfection as conceived by the human conscience. In fact, the Quran, the holy book of Islam, does claim that Muhammad was the perfect human being ever created:

‘Ye have indeed in the Apostle of God a beautiful pattern (of conduct) for any one whose hope is in God and the Final Day, and who engages much in the Praise of God.’ (Quran 33:21)

Therefore, Muhammad is expected to the ‘Paragon of Moral Perfection’ as per Islam’s own claim. Also in the following verses, Allah endows moral greatness upon Muhammad:

1. ‘Say (O Muhammad to mankind): ‘If you (really) love Allah then follow me (i.e. accept Islamic Monotheism, follow Quran and the Sunnah), Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. And Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.’ Say (O Muhammad): ‘Obey Allah and the Messenger (Muhammad).’ But if they turn away, then Allah does not like the disbelievers.’ (Quran: 3:31)

2. ‘And whatever the Messenger gives you, take it, and whatever he forbids you, leave it. And fear Allah: truly Allah is severe in punishment.’ (Quran 59:7)

3. ‘And verily, you (O Muhammad SAW) are on an exalted standard of character.’ (Quran 68:4)

4. ‘And We have not sent you but as a mercy to the worlds.‘ (Al-Anbiya’ 21:107)

Narrated Abu Huraira:

Allah’s Apostle was asked, ‘What is the best deed?’ He replied, ‘To believe in Allah and His Apostle (Muhammad). The questioner then asked, ‘What is the next (in goodness)? He replied, ‘To participate in Jihad (religious fighting) in Allah’s Cause.’ The questioner again asked, ‘What is the next (in goodness)?’ He replied, ‘To perform Hajj (Pilgrim age to Mecca) ‘Mubrur, (which is accepted by Allah and is performed with the intention of seeking Allah’s pleasure only and not to show off and without committing a sin and in accordance with the traditions of the Prophet).’

There are 91 verses in the Quran that say: obeying God is obeying Muhammad and obeying Muhammad is obeying God (see http://www.islamreform.net/new-page-41.htm). Therefore, Muhammad and Allah have the same standing in Islam, are equal to each other.

Evidence for moral perfection of Muhammad is found in the Sunnah – the sacred sayings and deeds of Islam’s holy prophet. Sunnah literally means ‘path’. In Islam, Sunnah is the ‘path’ laid down by the character, manners, ritual habits, deeds, examples and legislative actions of Prophet Muhammad.

Let’s not forget about the wondrous healing properties found in drinking camel urine that was miraculously revealed to Mohammed …

Hadith, Bukhari 8:82:794, “Some people from the tribe of ‘Ukl came to the Prophet and embraced Islam. The climate of Medina did not suit them, so the Prophet ordered them to go to the (herd of milch) camels of charity and to drink, their milk and urine (as a medicine).”

By David Wood, Answering Muslims – “Muhammad’s followers often went to him for advice on various topics. His advice, however, wasn’t always sound. According to Muhammad, it’s perfectly safe to use water that has human waste or dead animals floating in it. Muhammad promoted dunking flies in one’s food, in order to get the cure for the diseases that flies carry. Needless to say, these teachings are quite dangerous. Fortunately, most modern Muslims don’t take them seriously.

Sunan Abu Dawud 67—I heard that the people asked the Prophet of Allah: Water is brought for you from the well of Buda’ah. It is a well in which dead dogs, menstrual cloths and excrement of people are thrown. The Messenger of Allah replied: Verily water is pure and is not defiled by anything.

Sunan Ibn Majah 520—It was narrated that Jabir bin Abdullah said: “We came to a pond in which there was the carcass of a donkey, so we refrained from using the water until the Messenger of Allah came to us and said: ‘Water is not made impure by anything.’ Then we drank from it and gave it to our animals to drink, and we carried some with us.”

Sahih al-Bukhari 5782—Allah’s Messenger said, “If a fly falls in the vessel of any of you, let him dip all of it (into the vessel) and then throw it [i.e. the fly] away, for in one of its wings there is a disease and in the other there is healing (antidote for it) i.e. the treatment for that disease.”

Musnad Ahmad 16245—[Mua’wiya said]: I saw the prophet sucking on the tongue or the lips of Al-Hassan son of Ali, may the prayers of Allah be upon him. For no tongue or lips that the prophet sucked on will be tormented (by hell fire).

On a side note, since Muslims want to argue that there’s something miraculous about Islam, perhaps they can make an argument based on Muhammad’s teachings about personal hygiene. A Muslim could always argue that it’s a miracle that Muhammad and his followers survived his teachings about personal hygiene, and that Allah must have been miraculously preserving Muhammad and the early Muslim community!” – Source – Answering Muslims.

By David Wood, Answering Muslims – “Muhammad was once asked, as a challenge to his prophethood, why a child sometimes resembles the mother’s side of the family and sometimes resembles the father’s side of the family. Muhammad said that he received the answer to this question from the Angel Gabriel. The answer, however, is scientifically false. So if Muhammad got a false revelation from the same ‘angel’ that was giving him Qur’anic revelations, how can we believe the Qur’an?

Sahih al-Bukhari 3329—Narrated Anas: When Abdullah bin Salam heard of the arrival of the Prophet at Al-Madina, he came to him and said, “I am going to ask you about three things which nobody knows except a Prophet:

(1) What is the first portent of the Hour?
(2) What will be the first meal taken by the people of Paradise?
(3) Why does a child resemble its father, and why does it resemble its maternal uncle (mother’s brother)?”

Allah’s Messenger said, “Jibril (Gabriel) has just now told me of their answers.” Abdullah said, “He (i.e., Jibril), from amongst all the angels, is the enemy of the Jews.” Allah’s Messenger said, “As for the first sign of the Hour, it will be a fire that will collect (or gather) the people from the east to the west; the first meal of the people of Paradise will be extra lobe (caudate lobe) of fish-liver. As for the resemblance of the child to its parents: If a man has sexual intercourse with his wife and gets discharge first, the child will resemble the father, and if the woman gets discharge first, the child will resemble her.” On that Abdullah bin Salam said, “I testify that you are the Messenger of Allah.”
