Christian Properties Desecrated, Churches Demolished: Christianity In Peril In Turkish Cyprus
Just one of the many reasons why Turkey was added to the list of worst religious freedom offenders in the world …
By Michael Curtis, American Thinker – “Violence against Christians has become all too frequent in recent years, with attacks on them in a wide variety of countries in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. Repression and intolerance have been displayed against the Christian community in Nigeria; against the Coptic Christians in Alexandria, Egypt ; by bombing in a chapel in Sulu, Philippines; by bomb arracks against Assyrian Christians in Iraq; by discrimination against them in the Islamic Republic of Iraq; by prosecution under the blasphemy laws in Pakistan and elsewhere.
It was the interruption and disruption by force of the celebration of Christian Mass in the villages of Rizokarpaso and Ayia Triada in northern Cyprus that led the European Parliament in a resolution on January 19, 2011 to comment on the situation of Christians in the context of freedom of religion. Since the ‘Arab Spring,’ thousands of Christians have fled the countries of the Middle East except Israel. Christian communities have existed for two thousand years in the Middle East, though they are now declining as a result of low birth rates and emigration caused by discrimination and persecution in most of the Arab and Muslim countries in the area. The case of northern Cyprus is a recent example of that discrimination and intolerance towards a Christian community.
The disruption of the Christian liturgy in the two villages was, as admitted by the World Council of Churches at the time, a flagrant violation of fundamental freedoms and human rights, the freedom of religion and belief, as guaranteed in Article 18 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and in other international declarations, including the 1981 United Nations Declaration on the Elimination of all Forms of Intolerance and Discrimination based on Religion and Belief.
The area of Cyprus had been ruled administratively as a protectorate by Britain from 1878 until August 1960, when it become an independent country. An international treaty guaranteed the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Cyprus. But political crises and violence between the Greek and Turkish communities continued. As a result, the U.N. Security Council set up in March 1964 the U.N. Peacekeeping Force (UNFICYP), originally to prevent further fighting between the two communities. In the absence of a political solution of the Cyprus problem, the force, now consisting of 925 uniformed personnel, and 140 international and local staff, has remained in existence to supervise ceasefire lines, maintain a buffer zone between the two sides, and undertake humanitarian activities.
Despite the presence of UNFICYP in 1974, the Turkish army invaded the island, ostensibly to restore ‘constitutional order,’ after the Greek military had attempted a coup to unite Cyprus with Greece. Though there was a de facto ceasefire in August 1974, the Turkish aggression remained. The Turks never withdrew and occupied about a third of the island. In November 1983, the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus was established under the leadership of Rauf Denktash, who remained president until 2005. It had a population of 180,000, of whom about 100,000 came as colonialists from Anatolia, the Turkish mainland. The U.N. condemned the Republic as ‘legally invalid’ and called on states not to recognize it. None has done so except Turkey. The town of Nicosia is still divided, with a ‘Green Line,’ into two parts, each being the capital of one of the two regimes. It is the only divided capital in the world.
With the establishment of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, the 200,000 Greek Christian Cypriots in the north escaped or were Read more…
A Kingdom Divided: Sunni-Shiite War Spills Over Onto The Streets Of Australia, ‘It’s Very Frightening, What Is Happening’
Prophecy unfolds as the Day of the Lord approaches …
Zechariah 14:13, “And it shall come to pass in that day, [that] a great tumult from the LORD shall be among them; and they shall lay hold every one on the hand of his neighbour, and his hand shall rise up against the hand of his neighbour.”
Daniel 2:41, “Whereas you saw the feet and toes, partly of potter’s clay and partly of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; yet the strength of the iron shall be in it, just as you saw the iron mixed with ceramic clay.”

By Rachel Olding, The Sydney Morning Herald – “It was not so much a death threat as a declaration of war.
‘You wanna go to war, you f—in’ Shia dogs?’ the phone message says. ‘We’re taking all of you to war, in Sydney and overseas!’
It was 8pm and Jamal Daoud, an aspiring politician from Auburn was having dinner with his wife and children. An outspoken critic of the Free Syrian Army, Daoud is accustomed to abuse but this call was more frightening than most.
‘You wanna kill our brothers and sisters overseas, we’re gonna kill you motherf—ers here,’ the caller says.
‘We know where [you] live. We’re coming past [your] house and shoot at [it], if there are people inside we don’t give a f—. You wanna spill blood, we’re gonna spill blood, you f—in’ dogs!’
After two years and an estimated 100,000 deaths, the civil war in Syria has spilled on to the streets of Sydney. Auburn, Lakemba and Bankstown are the new battle lines.
The Syrian conflict, which pits the Sunni-dominated rebellion against the Alawite regime of President Bashar al-Assad, has split the Middle East in two; the Sunni regimes of Saudi Arabia and Qatar and large Sunni population in Lebanon on one side, Iran, the Lebanese militia Hezbollah and the broader Shiite Muslim population, of which the Alawites are an offshoot, on the other.
In Sydney, it is splitting suburbs along the same sectarian lines.
‘It’s very frightening, what is happening,’ says Daoud, who was targeted after posting a disparaging message about the death of Mustapha al-Majzoub, a Sydney sheikh killed in Syria last year, while conducting humanitarian work his supporters say.” Read more.
Flashback: A Kingdom Divided: Could The Hatred Between Two Warring Islamic Ideologies In Syria Ignite World War 3? – “The crisis in Syria may appear to be no more or less than a civil war in a country many people would struggle to place on a map. But it’s much more than that: it is rapidly becoming a sectarian struggle for power that is bleeding across the Middle East, with the potential to engulf the entire region in a deadly power struggle between two bitterly opposed Muslim ideologies, Sunni and Shia. Already, the war inside Syria has resulted in 93,000 dead and 1.6 million refugees, with millions more displaced internally. And those figures are escalating rapidly amid reports of appalling atrocities on both sides.” Read more.

‘A Public Health Nightmare’: Meet The ‘Aleppo Boil’, A Flesh-Eating Parasite Sweeping Across Syria
With reports like this I cannot help but to think of Revelation 16 and the bowls of the wrath of God …
Revelation 16:1-2, 11, “Then I heard a loud voice from the temple saying to the seven angels, ‘Go and pour out the bowls of the wrath of God on the earth.’ So the first went and poured out his bowl upon the earth, and a foul and loathsome sore came upon the men who had the mark of the beast and those who worshiped his image… They blasphemed the God of heaven because of their pains and their sores, and did not repent of their deeds.”
Matthew 24:7, “For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there will be famines, plagues, and earthquakes in various places.”
By Erin Banco, Foreign Policy – “A crowd gathers at the center of Bab al-Salam, a refugee camp on the Turkey-Syria border that is home to some 13,500 internally displaced Syrians. Children sit at their mothers’ feet, playing with plastic toys in the melting mud. One boy’s cheeks are pocked with small red dots; a boy next to him, wearing nothing but a diaper, has a large crusted lesion on his leg — signs of an infectious skin disease that is spreading throughout Syria and the neighboring region.
Since war came to Syria a little more than two years ago, the country has been transformed into a public health nightmare. Gastroenteritis, which causes severe diarrhea, vomiting, and abdominal pain, is ubiquitous among displaced populations — both inside and outside Syria — and a measles epidemic is currently sweeping the northern portion of the country. (At least 7,000 cases of the disease have been detected since 2011, according to Doctors Without Borders.) An outbreak of water-borne diseases such as hepatitis, typhoid, cholera, and dysentery, meanwhile, is all but ‘inevitable,’ according to the World Health Organization (WHO).
But in camps like Bab al-Salam, it is a silent, flesh-eating parasite that is literally leaving its mark on the population. Cutaneous leishmaniasis, also known as the ‘Aleppo evil’ or the ‘Aleppo boil,’ is carried by sand flies and causes painful lesions that can become secondarily infected, often resulting in disfigurement. Another form of leishmaniasis — visceral — affects the spleen and liver, and it is the second-largest parasitic killer in the world after malaria. Mercifully, it is only the nonlethal parasite that is coursing through the Syrian countryside, where years of fighting has made seeking medical treatment extraordinarily difficult. Still, the parasite leaves its victims scarred for life.
According to the WHO, which has set up an early-warning system to monitor the disease in all 14 of Syria’s governorates, 1,047 cases of cutaneous leishmaniasis were reported between April 14 and May 18 of this year. The majority of those cases occurred in Aleppo, where the disease was endemic prior to the crisis, but an increasing number have cropped up among internally displaced people in Syria’s Tartus governorate, where the disease was previously unreported. Thousands of additional cases have been reported in bordering countries in the last year.
Still, the WHO has yet to classify the increasing number of cases as an official outbreak, which would require a twofold increase in the number of reported cases among all age groups since last year. ‘Despite articles or videos circulating in the media talking about an ‘outbreak’ of cutaneous leishmaniasis, WHO has not received up to date any systematic epidemiological data to ascertain that,’ Jose Postigo, an expert on leishmaniasis at the WHO, told Foreign Policy in an email. ‘But the disease is highly endemic in parts of the country.'” Read more.
Flashback: Specialists: SARS-Like Virus With Extremely High Mortality Rate Plagues Middle East – “A new virus responsible for an outbreak of respiratory illness in the Middle East may be more deadly than SARS, according to a team of infectious disease specialists who recently investigated a set of cases in Saudi Arabia. Of 23 confirmed cases in April, 15 people died — an ‘extremely high’ fatality rate of 65 percent, according to Johns Hopkins senior epidemiologist Trish Perl, a member of the team that analyzed the spread of the virus through four Saudi hospitals. Saudi officials said that as of Wednesday, 49 people have contracted the disease and 32 have died.” Read more.
UK Magazine: Forget About ‘Islamophobia’ Let’s Tackle Islamism, ‘It Is Time To Unfold The Lie’
Unfortunately, when it comes to the “Religion of Peace” many still attempt to create a dichotomy of “good Islam” verses “bad Islam” when, in reality, all of Islam is inherently destructive. Sure, there are many Muslims who are peaceful, but they are not peaceful because of their religion. They are peaceful in spite of it. If Europe and the West as a whole were truly serious about tackling “Islamism” they would need to tackle Islam itself, but that is something that an intellectually and politically atrophied West will never have the willpower to do. Until it is too late …
Hadith, Bukhari, 2977, “I have been made victorious with terror” – The ‘Prophet’ Of Islam, Mohammed
Qur’an Sura 33:21, “Indeed in Allah’s Messenger (Mohammad) you have an excellent example to follow for him who hopes in (meeting with) Allah and the Last Day…”
By DOUGLAS MURRAY, Standpoint – “‘The good news is that government is finally dealing with the issue and it is now a priority,’ said the government minister in a BBC film last month. And of which of the panoply of issues currently facing our country was this speaker thinking? The stalled economy? Youth unemployment? No. The words were spoken by Baroness Sayeeda Warsi, the ‘minister for faith’, and the issue she was happy to report as a UK government ‘priority’ was the tackling of ‘Islamophobia’.
Coming just days after the bombing of the Boston Marathon by two young radical Muslims, Baroness Warsi’s comments were not just poorly timed — they were poorly thought through. The killing of three people and injury of more than 260 others would have been the perfect time for Britain’s only Muslim cabinet minister to address and assault the ideology which causes such attacks: radical Islam. B Days later, a soldier was beheaded by Islamists on the streets of Woolwich. But — aside from attacking the most irrelevant, fringe extremists like Al-Muhajiroun — Warsi has never taken up this role. This is not just her own failing. It is an exemplar of a wider cultural failure.
In the first years after 9/11 there was some success in turning the global spotlight onto what Islamic fundamentalists believed, taught and aimed to achieve. But then — at some point in the last five or more years — that spotlight was turned around. It was not on the extremists but on the rest of us — Muslim and non-Muslim — that it settled. It became all of us who were the problem — not the crimes of the fundamentalists but our response to them. The primary problem was no longer Islamic fundamentalism but ‘Islamophobia’. This narrative has not only become pervasive in our societies — it has become dominant. It is stopping us from dealing with the most severe challenge to our security. It is time to unfold the lie.
I have long argued — in this magazine and elsewhere — that the very word ‘Islamophobia’ is a nonsense term. A ‘phobia’ is something of which one is irrationally afraid. Yet it is supremely rational to be scared of elements of Islam and of its fundamentalist strains in particular. Nevertheless the term has been very successfully deployed, not least because it has the aura of a smear. ‘Islamophobes’ are not only subject to an irrational and unnecessary fear; they are assumed to be motivated (because most Muslims in the West are from an ethnic minority) by ‘racism’. Who would not recoil from such charges?
There is also something akin to the charge of anti-Semitism in the accusation — a link that many Jewish leaders have promoted. It was several years after 9/11 that I first remember speaking on a panel with a leader from the Jewish community. My co-speaker framed his remarks by saying, ‘We must fight anti-Semitism but we must also fight Islamophobia.’ He could not answer my question of how you could condemn Islamic anti-Semitism without committing an act of ‘Islamophobia’. But the term has caught on, in part because of its catch-all availability.” Read more.

‘Prepare For War’: Iran Says Syrian Crisis Is A Prelude To The Coming Of Islamic Savior, The Mahdi
Isaiah 43:11, “I, even I, am the LORD, And besides Me there is no savior.”
Before reading the full article below it is highly recommended that you read this article first …
By Reza Kahlili, WND – “A high Iranian politician believes the Syrian revolution could be the catalyst for sparking a worldwide conflagration that will usher in an era of Muslim domination of the world.
‘One can smell from the crisis in Syria the coming … of the end of times and the coming of the last Islamic messiah,’ said Ruhollah Hosseinian, a member of the Islamic regime’s parliament. Previously he was deputy of the Intelligence Ministry and a member of board of trustees of Islamic Revolution Document Center.
Shiites, whose clerics rule Iran with an iron fist, believe that at the end of times, the 12th Imam, Mahdi, a 9th century prophet, will reappear with Jesus Christ at his side, kill all the infidels and raise the flag of Islam in all four corners of the world. Many analysts believe Iran is seeking nuclear capability to bring on that Armageddon.
Based on hadiths by Muhammad and his descendants, the Syrian revolution is a start to the coming of Mahdi, Hosseinian said in a speech quoted Thursday by Fars News Agency, a media outlet run by the Revolutionary Guards.
‘Imam Sadegh (the Shiites’ 4th Imam) has stated, when the masters of the yellow flag (Lebanese Hezbollah) engage in a conflict with anti-Shiite elements in Damascus and Iranian forces join them, this is a sign and a prelude to the coming of his highness (Mahdi),’ Hosseinian said. ‘We see that (now) the masters of the yellow flag are engaged with anti-Shiite groups in Damascus. Perhaps this is the event that promises the coming and that we must prepare ourselves.’
Hadiths from Ali, the Shiites’ 1st imam, also state that a sign of the coming will be the fall of the walls of Damascus. A tight-knit coalition of Syrian loyalists, Hezbollah fighters and Iranian forces is fighting against a loose coalition of Syrian rebels and al-Qaida fighters. The anti-Assad forces have brought their fight to inside Damascus.
Hosseinian told the audience that they should prepare themselves for war.
‘The coming of his highness is assured … the prophet has promised that people from the east, which according to the hadith means Iran, take power and prepare for the government of Imam Mahdi.'” Read more.

Egypt: Islamic Clerics Warn Of ‘Civil War’ Ahead Of This Weekend’s Planned Anti-Islamist Protests
By Tom Perry and Yasmine Saleh, Reuters – “Egypt’s leading religious authority warned of ‘civil war’ on Friday and called for calm as political factions clashed ahead of major rallies the opposition hopes can force the Islamist president to quit.
A member of the ruling Muslim Brotherhood was shot dead overnight. Dozens of people were wounded in Alexandria, many by shotgun pellets, when opposition marchers clashed with Islamists on Friday, two days before President Mohamed Mursi’s critics hopes millions take to the streets to demand new elections.
‘Vigilance is required to ensure we do not slide into civil war,’ clerics of the Al-Azhar institute said. In a statement broadly supportive of Mursi, it blamed ‘criminal gangs’ who besieged mosques for street violence which the Brotherhood said has killed five of its supporters in a week.
The movement’s political wing warned of ‘dire consequences that will pull the country into a violent spiral of anarchy’. It held liberal leaders, including former top U.N. diplomat Mohamed ElBaradei, personally responsible for inciting violence by hired ‘thugs’ once employed by the ousted dictator, Hosni Mubarak.
Opposition leaders also condemned the violence.
In Alexandria, at least 36 people were wounded, a Health Ministry source said, many by birdshot when hundreds scuffled outside a local office of the Muslim Brotherhood. A Reuters reporter saw about a dozen men break off from an anti-Mursi march on the seafront to throw rocks at the building’s guards.
They responded. Bricks and bottles flew. Gunshots went off. Ambulances arrived. Military helicopters hovered overhead.
There was no immediate sign of trouble as thousands of Islamists gathered round a Cairo mosque after weekly prayers to show support for Mursi. His opponents hope millions will turn out on Sunday to demand new elections, a year to the day since he was sworn in as Egypt’s first freely chosen leader.
‘I came to support the legitimate order,’ said Ahmed al-Maghrabi, 37, a shopkeeper from the Nile Delta city of Mansoura whose hand bore grazes from street fighting there this week. ‘I am with the elected president. He needs to see out his term.’
There was a mostly festive atmosphere in the hot sunshine, with vendors selling mango and cakes and banners flying.
Some opposition gatherings were also under way. A handful of protesters watched security men ringing the presidential palace, the focus for Sunday’s Cairo rally. Mursi has moved elsewhere.
A few thousand milled around in the capital’s Tahrir Square, cradle of the revolution. Some waved red cards reading ‘Out!’, in preparation for the big demonstration against the president.
The army, which heeded mass protests in early 2011 to push aside Mubarak, has warned it will intervene again if there is violence and to defend the “will of the people”. Both sides believe that means the military may support their positions.” Read more.

Muslim Immigration And The Fate Of Europe
Proverbs 14:12, “There is a way which seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.”
By Nikolaas de Jong, The Brussels Journal – “Is European civil war inevitable? Increasingly the question is posed these days not only by those who were in the past labeled alarmists and political amateurs, but by all sorts of people who are waking up to the disconcerting aspects of Muslim immigration in Europe. At first thought, predicting civil war would indeed still sound somewhat irresponsible to many westerners, especially the middle and upper classes who have retreated in pleasant and quiet suburbs, and therefore believe the whole country must look like their quiet, pleasant suburbs, populated by the same friendly and orderly kind of people. Indeed it is stunning to what extent this group have become totally isolated from evolutions in their own country, to the point that once again we may refer to ‘the two nations’; the pays réel, so to speak, composed of people who are often confronted with Muslim behavior and simply don’t like what they see, and the pays légal, composed of the estranged upper middle classes and politicians of all parties. I can very well imagine that all warnings about growing Islamic influence in our cities, and eventually in the country as a whole, strikes these people as apocalyptic. Nonetheless, -and this is also an answer to critics of Islam who aren’t very impressed by the Islamic threat and believe a Muslim takeover is impossible- it is very hard to deny the overwhelming evidence, both relating to current affairs and to larger historical patterns, that within the next century Europe will witness, if not an Islamic takeover, at least serious internal tensions that will probably complete the process of decline that set in after the First world war.
The problem of large numbers of Islamic immigrants arriving in Europe each year, is serious enough in itself. Currently, the Muslim population is believed to exceed ten percent in France, and in all major European countries it has reached the five per cent mark some time ago. It may be true that, as some critics of the ‘Eurabia’ thesis reassuringly note, a less than ten per cent total for western Europe as a whole is not alarmingly great, because their influence on society as whole is negligible even if they pose grave problems by themselves. But this is to ignore the long-term evolution: since 2000, the Islamic population in Europe and the United States has almost doubled, and there is no reason to assume that this trend will not continue in the next decades; already, it can be predicted with certainty that some major European cities will have a Muslim majority some years from now. Arguments to counter this prediction are unconvincing and, mostly, simply ignore reality: Muslim birth-rates may be slowly declining, but as Muslim communities in the west become larger and form their own closed systems, impervious to western influence, this decline is already becoming less marked. Second, even with declining birth rates, there is not much hope if immigration continues as it does today, legal as well as illegal. It has been estimated that in the worst case of the United Kingdom, about two hundred thousand immigrants arrive each year, undoubtedly for a large part Muslims, and Sweden is actively encouraging immigrants and expects to receive another forty thousand of them this year. In total, more than a million immigrants are still arriving in Europe annually, and current democratic policies and standards can in no way suffice to stem this avalanche. Europe will probably only be shaken out of complacency when it is too late, and the apparatus of state coercion will already partly be dominated by the Islamic community.
But the problem is not simply a demographic problem: as readers of the BJ will know, the Muslim immigration question in the West is intimately connected with political and cultural factors, first of all the influence of the Arab oil countries, and secondly the demographic explosion in the Muslim world. In fact, the revival of Islam stems from these two factors, combined with the cultural crisis in the west and the corresponding dominance of political correctness. You do not have to accept the Eurabia theory to appreciate the weight of these factors: maybe it cannot be ascertained that at a given moment political leaders from Europe and Saudi Arabia concocted some scheme and that all current evolutions have been planned in some way, but what is certain is that Saudi oil money has bought large segments of the American and West-European campus and has decisively influenced the academe and policy makers with its propaganda campaign to obscure the real nature of Islam. And of course, it must be visible to all that the foreign policy decisions of western nations have been determined by Arab demands and preferences, as in the Bosnian crisis when the US deployed an air force to protect Bosnian Muslims who were in fact the original aggressors, while at the same time hundreds of thousands of Christians were slaughtered in Darfur by Jihadist, and the international community even refused to impose an air blockade. Similarly, the Obama administration rushes in to complain to the Burmese government about its treatment of Muslims, while Christians and other minorities are almost without exception persecuted in Islamic countries, first of all in Egypt and Nigeria, and all western response is lacking.” Read more.
Syria: Islamic Militants Behead Christians In Front Of Cheering Crowd
Behold, the exceedingly dreadful Beast that devours and tramples all residue under its feet. But a Day is coming when this Beast will be slain and his body destroyed and given to the burning flame …
Revelation 6:9-11, “… I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain for the word of God and for the testimony which they held. And they cried with a loud voice, saying, ‘How long, O Lord, holy and true, until You judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?’ Then a white robe was given to each of them; and it was said to them that they should rest a little while longer, until both the number of their fellow servants and their brethren, who would be killed as they were, was completed.”
Daniel 7:27a, “Then the kingdom and dominion, And the greatness of the kingdoms under the whole heaven, Shall be given to the people, the saints of the Most High …”

Syria Report – “Two Christians, one of them a priest, have been beheaded by militants because they were suspected of cooperating with the Syrian military, according to an Al-Alam report.
A video uploaded to the internet yesterday shows two men with their hands bound, surrounded by dozens of people, many of them armed and cheering in celebration.
The two are brutally executed – beheaded with a small combat knife. Echoing previous beheading recorded by insurgents, the head is held up to the cheers of onlookers and then placed on the body.
This month has seen an escalation in sectarian atrocities committed by insurgents, who have been publicly armed and supported by America, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey and other actors. Indeed, the atrocities are coinciding with further arms transfers – with new advanced weaponry witnessed in the hands of militants in the past number of weeks.
The most recent beheading recorded on video and uploaded to the internet, reportedly took place in Idlib countryside.
Recently, a Catholic priest was executed by foreign militants. The monastery in which he resided was burnt and looted, echoing the events of a massacre in Homs last month which resulted in the entire population of a Christian village being wiped out and their houses and possessions burnt. Two Christian bishops who were kidnapped by Chechen gunmen in Aleppo earlier this year, are still missing.” Read more.

‘Incredible Violence And Incredible Suffering’: Suicide Bomber Detonates Near Church In Christian Area Of Damascus, At Least 4 Dead
AFP – “A suicide bomber killed at least four people in a Christian area of the Syrian capital on Thursday as aid groups said they cannot keep pace with the ever-growing suffering.
State media said the bomber struck near a church belonging to an order of the Maronite church, killing four people, a toll confirmed by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
‘A terrorist suicide bombing… in Damascus has left four people dead and several others wounded,’ state television reported said.
The Britain-based rights watchdog said in ‘a suicide bomber detonated his explosives near the Mariamite church. According to preliminary reports, four people were killed and several others wounded.’
The Observatory also reported shelling in nearby Al-Amin Street, also in old Damascus, without going into further detail.
The latest violence in a conflict the Observatory says has killed more than 100,000 people comes as relief groups say they are unable to keep pace with the rising misery.
‘There is a huge discrepancy between the ability to cope with the Syrian crisis and the escalating speed in which the demands in Syria are growing,’ said Peter Maurer, the head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
‘And this gap still continues to widen as we speak,’ he said in Geneva, decrying ‘incredible violence and incredible suffering, and quite extraordinary violations of international humanitarian law by all parties to the conflict in Syria.’
On Tuesday, the World Food Programme warned that Syrians caught up in the war are cutting basic foods from their diets to save money, or resorting to begging to survive.
Maurer, presenting the ICRC’s 2012 annual report, said the Syrian conflict represents the organisation’s largest outlay, ahead of Afghanistan, with 101.3 million Swiss francs (82.2 million euros/$107.2 million) dedicated to addressing it this year.” Read more.

There was a bus stop right beside it … Terrorists are doing this,’ said George, a Christian who, like many residents in Bab Touma lives in fear of the rebel fighters trying to gain control of the capital.” Read more.
Say What? William Hague Claims That ‘Europe Is Losing Its Patience’ …
… but when you find out why this British Foreign Minister said what he said, you’ll soon realize that the real issue is not about Europe losing its patience. It’s about Europe losing its mind …
By Dan Aridor, Gatestone Institute – “At the end of May of this year, British Foreign Minister William Hague made a statement that ‘Europe is losing its patience.’ There are quite a few reasons for Secretary Hague to have made such a statement:
- In Britain a soldier was beheaded in the street, and in France a soldier was murdered. Both attacks seem to be hate crimes of Muslims against Christians.
- 60,000 British women were genitally mutilated due to a ritual practiced by Muslims, and 20,000 more are in immediate danger of being forced to undergo this procedure.
- In Egypt, the original inhabitants of the country, Christian Copts, are been hunted down by the Muslims.
- In Syria, the level of atrocities has reached a new high as chemical weapons have been deployed. The death toll in the civil war is approaching 100,000.
- In Saudi Arabia, women are discriminated against and a culture of women as sex slaves is flourishing.
- An important Palestinian Authority figure, Jibril Rajoub, has just said that Palestinians, if they could, would nuke Israel. No condemnation or rebuff of his statements was heard from any Palestinian politician.
- Mauritania still has slaves; Indonesia still canes people; Iran hangs homosexuals from cranes; Turkey has more journalists in prison than any other country, including Iran and North Korea; Saudi Arabia denies women freedom of movement; does not allow Bibles into the country; and there is no equal justice under law, property rights, free speech, free press, or free worship.
- In Britain and across Europe, Israeli and Jewish speakers, Jewish students or just plain Jews are routinely attacked by what can be described as the new ‘Brown Shirts’ of Europe (and occasionally also in and American and Canadian Universities).
Secretary Hague’s comments, however were directed at Israel and the settlements. Hague presumably by accident failed to recall that to most Arabs — in both the Palestinian Authority and Hamas Charters, and all maps of Palestine currently in use by them — the entire State of Israel is one big ‘settlement.’ Hague made these comments during his visit to Israel at the end of May. What Secretary Hague apparently condemns is the Jewish people’s settlement into its historic home — the creation of which the British Empire tried to prevent, despite its commitments in the 1917 Balfour declaration to establish a national home for the Jewish people, and despite the 1920 San Remo Agreement (an international meeting attended by Britain France Italy and Japan, which, among other things, adopted the Balfour declaration). The British Mandate for Palestine was based on San Remo decisions, in order to establish a Jewish home in Palestine.
So seemingly it is not hate crimes around the Muslim world, in Arab countries or in Sharia’s enclaves in Britain, or even in London that anger Secretary Hague.
The latest hate crime, the beheading of an British soldier in London, propelled one of the most supportive ‘politically correct’ advocates of our time, former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, finally to say what no one else dares to say: that there is a ‘problem within Islam.’
In a move reminiscent of Nazi Germany, Britain, led by Mr. Cameron and Mr. Hague, is part of a growing effort in the European Union to Read more…
Syria: Thousands Flee After Islamic Rebels Execute Priest, Loot, Burn Monastary In Northern Syria
Syrian Report – “On Sunday, June 23, Syrian Catholic priest François Murad was murdered in the locality of Gassanieh, northern Syria, according to a statement from the Custody of the Holy Land sent to the Fides Agency.
Murad (49), having led a religious life and studied in Palestine, was ordained a priest and set about building a monastery in Gassanieh, Idlib.
Murad was targeted by armed militants, while he was residing at the monastery, which was dedicated to Saint Simon Stylite.
Citing the head of all Franciscans in the Holy Land, Pierbattista Pizzaballa, the Vatican News Agency said that Father Murad recently chose a monastic way of life and resorted to the monastery, with Franciscan Friars, a few weeks earlier.
‘The world must know that the support of gunmen by the west is helping extremists in killing Syrians’, Pizzaballa said, adding that, ‘with such stances, not a single Christian will remain in the East.’
According to local sources, the monastery was raided by gunmen, who proceeded to execute François Murad, loot and burn the building. Four-thousand people are reported to have since fled the area.
Christians in Syria are being increasing targeted by sectarian armed groups in Syria, of which there are between several hundred and over a thousand.” Read more.

The Wall Street Journal: Let Al-Qaeda And Hezbollah Fight It Out In Syria
“Let Allah sort it out“. With the Muslim Brotherhood & Al-Qaeda standing firmly in one corner while in the other the Ayatollahs & Hezbollah dig in, this divided kingdom will remain a kingdom divided. As long as there remains no secular fighting force to speak of in rebel-controlled Syria, arming anyone would only serve to needlessly draw more parties into an already expanding abyss of death …
Proverbs 22:24-25, “Make no friendship with a man given to anger, nor go with a wrathful man, lest you learn his ways and entangle yourself in a snare.”
By DOUGLAS MURRAY, The Wall Street Journal – “The war in Syria has been a catastrophe for the Syrian people. But as the composition of the military opponents has become clearer—al Qaeda-linked Islamists dominating one side, Bashar Assad’s forces and Hezbollah the other—it has become obvious that the window of opportunity for outside intervention is closed. We must now have in mind Henry Kissinger‘s famous remark during the Iran-Iraq war: It’s too bad they both can’t lose.
Western governments no longer have the will, capability or patience to act in such a forum. And to dabble without wishing to get more deeply involved is a pathetic option.
So when the British prime minister and foreign secretary talk of arming a ‘moderate opposition’ to Assad, they are talking of a diminishing and soon-to-be extinct force. If there was ever a chance of helping such moderates into power, it has passed. What moderates existed have been replaced by extremists, and the West must have no part in assisting them.
It is not Assad propaganda but the simple flood of news that now confirms this. What Vladimir Putin alluded to at the opening of the G-8 summit last week was true: that a young Syrian opposition fighter called Abu Sakkar was captured on video last month cutting out and biting into the lung of an opponent. Similar atrocities include those of ‘opposition’ forces who recently tortured and executed, in front of his parents, a 15-year-old coffee seller in Aleppo. Mohammad Qataa’s ‘crime’ was an overheard comment alleged by these judges, jurors, torturers and executioners to be blasphemous.
Other ‘rebels’ include the killers of Andrei Arbashe, a 38-year-old Christian taxi driver who was recently beheaded and his body fed to dogs near the Turkish border, all because his brother was allegedly overheard referring to the opposition as bandits.
Of course, the atrocities do not go in one direction. Assad’s forces have been performing acts of barbaric violence from the outset of this war, aided by Hezbollah. We did nothing to stop them then. Yet the British government now appears eager to arm someone—anyone—to tip the balance in the war. This is a mistake.
The moment they do so, their complicity will shift from the tangential complicity of the bystander to the more serious complicity of the enabler. This is not just a moral question, but a practical one too: How do David Cameron and William Hague hope to go about arming only the ‘good’ rebels while ensuring that their weaponry does not fall into the hands of the ‘bad’ ones?” Read more.
