Allvoices – “Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Sunday said Western sanctions would not stop Tehran’s nuclear progress but would only deepen hatred of the West in the hearts of the Iranian people.

The Iranian Leader warned that any attack by Israel against its nuclear sites ‘will fall like a thunderbolt’ on the head of the Jewish state, accusing the West of ‘lying’ about the Iranian nuclear threat.

Israeli and American officials have begun to discuss the possibility of military strikes against Iran’s nuclear program since the collapse of negotiations in Baghdad between the major powers and Iran last month. ‘All options are on the table’, reiterated Wednesday the Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak in an allusion to a possible attack against Iran. ‘We must find the right time before it is possible to act’.

‘If the Zionist leaders talk of military action (against Iran), it is because they are more vulnerable than ever. Any wrong decision will fall on their head as the lightning,’ stated Ayatollah Khamenei in a speech at a multi-thousand meeting in front of the mausoleum of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the leader of the 1979 Islamic Revolution, who died 23 years ago.

The Iranian Leader further cautioned against the US plots to create a rift between Shiaa and Sunni Muslims and said, ‘Today, the Americans are using Britain’s experience in causing a religious divide among Shiaa and Sunni Muslims.’

On Saturday, according to the Fars news agency, General Yahya Rahim Safavi, the military adviser to Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, said : Iran will retaliate against any attack on its nuclear sites with ‘proportionate action’

He reiterated that Israeli and U.S. bases in the Middle East as well as the U.S. Fifth Fleet in the Gulf were within range of the large arsenal of Iranian missiles.” Read more.

By Alex Thomson, The Telegraph – “This macabre sight, along with an abandoned Syrian tank marked the beginning of rebel-held Houla. For a few hundred feet there was no sign of life and then quite suddenly the convoy was stopped in its tracks by a crowd that appeared from nowhere.

Women and girls joined in with the men chanting ‘Allahu Akbar’ and ‘Assad, we will cut your throat’ with the appropriate gesture of the finger across the throat.

I have scarcely witnessed such extraordinary scenes of people desperate to tell the world what they have been through. We were passed from family to family, house to house, by people, sometimes literally fighting to get their story to the wider world.

All norms of Muslim culture seemed forgotten as we were shown to Riya’s bed. A hauntingly beautiful 15-year-old girl was suddenly, gently rolled on to her side to expose a large dressing where a bullet had exited her abdomen. There are countless such stories. Everybody points to a group of Shia and Alawite villages to the west and east of town. Places like Kabu and Fullah which you can see clearly from the town centre. Everyone you meet says the killers came from these villages to attack the Sunni people of Houla.

They all say that the killers had written a local Shia slogan on their foreheads as they went about their business, shooting and hacking the families of Houla to death. One man spoke for many when he said: ‘When this is over and this is settled and we are victorious, we will kill them. We will slaughter them and we will slaughter their children. We hate them.’

There is also agreement here that more bodies will be discovered. The UN commandeered a flatbed truck – they clearly believed it too. The problem, everybnody here says, is that the unrecovered bodies lie close to the Syrian army positions and nobody dares venture into the killing zone of Houla’s silent no-mans-land.

The burning question is this: if these militia were nothing to do with the government, as President Bashar al-Assad says, how is it 100 men were able to enter a zone where there had been intensive shelling, commit a massacre over several hours, and not be in danger from a single shell, rocket, or mortar?” Source – The Telegraph.

Military options for Syria considered if crisis worsens – “Diplomacy remains the favored option as the U.S. grapples with how best to deal with Syria, but the U.S. military has drawn up plans to use if diplomacy fails. Officials issued fresh reminders of its military alternatives this week as world outrage mounted over last week’s massacre that left more than 100 people dead in the town of Houla. ‘As you know, my job is to provide the commander-in-chief with options,’ said Gen. Martin Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. ‘I think the military option should be considered.'” Read more.

Flashback: Expert: A Threatened Assad May Attack Israel – “Middle East expert Professor Eyal Zisser warned on Monday against a possible Syrian attack on Israel, if President Bashar Assad feels threatened by the anti-regime protesters. In an interview with Arutz Sheva, Zisser said that in the short term there is no reason for particular concern, because a situation which is bad for Assad is good for Israel as this means that the Syrian president is preoccupied with his internal affairs and not with attacking Israel.” Read more.

By Matthew Boesler, Business Insider – “Barton Biggs, the storied hedge fund manager who runs Traxis Partners, recently had an interesting encounter recently over lunch with a Saudi businessman who explained to him the real motivations behind Saudi Arabia’s ramp up in oil production and why oil prices will likely continue to fall as a result for an extended period of time.

It’s all part of a plan hatched by the Saudi royal family, according to Biggs, who relays this conversation in a note just published by Itaú BBA. Biggs says he asked the man what his outlook for Saudi Arabia was in the medium and long term, and the man was particularly negative about this, even given the vast riches of Saudi Arabian oil wealth.

Here is what Biggs writes about his conversation with the Saudi man:

“You have to understand our geo-political equation and vulnerability,” he said calmly but intensely.

“Our two most dangerous enemies are Iraq and Iran. Both are Shia, and both are trying to destabilize the Arab world and our Sunni kingdom by funding terrorism. Our only weapons against them are our wealth and our oil. Their current vulnerability is their financial fragility. Their financial reserves are a fraction of ours, and they desperately need money to prop up their economies.

The ruling council has decided that over the next two years we have a brief window of opportunity to impoverish and weaken them by driving down the price of oil. Iraq and Iran need to produce and sell their oil at well over one hundred dollars a barrel. In the next twenty four months, we will gradually increase our production with the objective of breaking the price of crude down to sixty dollars a barrel.

The man also pointed out to Biggs the opportune timing of this plan from the Saudi standpoint:

“Don’t forget we have the wind at our backs because of Europe’s problems and the weak global economy. Under normal recessionary circumstances, we would be reducing production to maintain current prices. Instead, we will be flooding a weak market already suffering indigestion. You also should understand that Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates are with us. Royal families tend to stick together.””

In his Sunday address in San Diego, the Nation of Islam leader slammed Israel, lamented Mexico’s loss of land at the hands of American ‘trickery’ and derided President Barack Obama for his endorsement of same-sex marriage. But that’s only a portion of what was uttered in his nearly three-hour address. During the last 10 minutes, the fiery Farrakhan erupted with fervency, applauding the violence of sharia law and giving some cryptic warnings to America regarding Iranian intervention.

In speaking to his ‘Arab brothers,’ Farrakhan said that they should not kill their children who shame them. But rather than merely lambasting those who participate in honor crimes, he turned the discussion into a referendum on America (in all fairness, while making these comments, he did say that ‘Islam needs reform,’ and that his Arab brothers need ‘mercy from God’ so they can get ‘strong enough to live sharia’ — but both statements came without proper explanation).

‘To my Arab brothers, you should not kill your children in this honor killing after you bring yourself and them into a country that is a modern Babylon and they get sucked up into the culture of decadence,’ he said. ‘They you’re angry with them because they brought shame on the family. Let me tell you, shame on you for looking to America for your health and bringing your children into this and not creating a world for them to revolve in that will keep the decency that you taught them in the old country.’

From here, the conversation turned into a rant about what goes on in the Islamic holy city of Mecca. Farrakhan explained that, following Jumu’ah prayer on Fridays, if someone is guilty of stealing something, locals don’t wait for that individual to go to jail where he or she will be fed and cared for. Instead, he says the offender has his or her hand cut off in the middle of the prayer square and in front of everyone…

Then, Farrakhan’s tough message for America was weaved into his closing, as the faith leader warned of potential calamity if the United States decides to take military action against Iran. This danger, he contends, would be thrust upon America by Allah.

‘So, America I close. I tell you, you’re on your way to war and if you declare war on Iran at the behest of Israel and you bomb Iran and some of you are saying we should invoke Hiroshima again on Iran, meaning drop an atomic bomb on Muslims — I have even heard that they’re talking about even bombing Mecca…,’ he continued.

Of course, there was no mention of where Farrakhan heard that Mecca, a city in Saudi Arabia, was on the U.S.’s list of bomb targets, but that didn’t stop him from making the allegation.” Read more.

Flashback: Nation of Islam Leader Farrakhan Says Mahdi is ‘Present in the World, is the Christ You’ve Been Looking For’ – “… The End of Your World has arrived! What you’re looking at happening in Tunisia, in Egypt, in Yemen, in Jordan, in Libya, in Bahrain will soon—very soon—happen in all the nations of the world. And even sooner to take place in America, so don’t you get ‘bent out of shape’ with what you see happening there! If the Iranians truly believed that, you’d think they would be itching for the West to intervene militarily in Syria. Considering the rhetoric coming out of Iran lately, they’d be willing to give their left leg (along with the right leg, both arms and a charred torso) to inflict a deep incision into the “cancerous tumor” … 

By Avi Issacharoff – “A western military intervention in war-torn Syria will result in a regional upheaval that would undoubtedly engulf Israel, a senior Iranian official said on Wednesday, following a massacre in the Syrian city of Houla, which garnered severe criticism in the West.

Russia said on Wednesday that the UN Security Council should not consider new measures to resolve the crisis in Syria at this point and signaled it would block any effort to authorize military intervention, the Interfax news agency reported.

The warnings came after the French President Francois Hollande said military intervention was not ruled out provided it was backed by the Security Council, and Germany said it would push for ‘new engagement’ by the council on Syria.

Referring to the possibility of military action being taken in order to depose the regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad on Wednesday, Iranian Parliamentary Speaker Ali Larijani warned of the consequences of such a move.

‘Possibly, U.S. military officials are misunderstanding regional issues because Syria’s specifications are no way similar to those of Libya,’ Larijani, an aide of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei said.

In what seemed to be an explicit threat against the consequences military action could have on Israel, Larijani said that violence form a Syrian version of Benghazi ‘will spread into Palestine and the ashes of such flame will definitely bury the Zionist regime.'” Read more.

Flashback: Top Syrian Cleric Warns West: We Have Suicide Bombers Who Are ‘Already In Your Countries’ – “Syria’s top Sunni Muslim cleric has warned Western countries against military intervention, threatening to retaliate with suicide bombings in the United States and Europe if his country comes under attack. Grand Mufti Ahmad Badreddin Hassoun gave a speech and told the U.S. and Europe that ‘we will prepare suicide bombers who are already in your countries if you bomb Syria or Lebanon.’… Hassoun’s comments follow another warning by Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Moallem, who threatened ‘tough measures’ against any country that recognizes the newly formed opposition Syrian National Council.” Read more.

Russia Today – “A radio host has been hospitalized after being cut 15 times by an unidentified criminal. Two weeks ago the journalist ventured to criticize the founder of Islam, the Prophet Mohammed, on air.

­Sergey Aslanyan, 46, was brought to Moscow’s hospital with numerous non-penetrating knife wounds to the chest, neck and arm.

According to the police report, on late Monday evening an unknown man called to Aslanyan’s flat over the building intercom and called him outside for a talk. When the journalist stepped out of the entranceway he was knocked over the head with a heavy object, after which the assailant brought the knife into play.

Aslanyan claimed that the attacker was shouting ‘you are Allah’s enemy!’ while slashing at the victim.

Police say the abuser was a slim man of about 30, while according to some witnesses there were several attackers.

As of now the journalist is conscious and his condition is stable. His relatives and friends are free to visit him in his flat, which is guarded by police. Investigators say they do not have a primary lead, but hope to identify the perpetrator using porch surveillance camera data.

Still, Izvestia newspaper made a guess that the attack could be linked to recent statements made by the journalist in a radio show. While discussing religion in general he made some “from zero to hero” remarks towards the Prophet Mohammed.

‘The Prophet Mohammed, as we know, was not a religious figure. He was a businessman, but after getting considerable financial support built plans as to how to get to the top,’ Aslanyan disclosed. He also said that the Prophet ‘rewrote the Bible’ so that ‘now everyone would know the Prophet Mohammed was not a market shopkeeper, but an outstanding political figure.’

According to Aslanyan, the idea of Islam was a ‘business project from the very beginning,’ and turned out to be successful due to ‘handsome financing.’ Besides that, the journalist, who was an external expert at this radio show, speculated that the Prophet had some sort of sexual disorder.

Reportedly, the journalist later apologized on air for the harsh statements he had made, but that did not change public opinion much.

Such statements could not but stir the Muslim community. There was a widespread angry reaction on the Islamic internet forums.” Read more.
