By Terry Davidson, QMI Agency – “TORONTO – Police are investigating an east-Toronto Islamic school following a complaint it had been teaching its young students that Jews are ‘treacherous’ and comparable to Nazis.

The East End Madrassah (EEM), a Sunday school for Muslim children that rents space from an east-end public school to teach its courses, had by early Monday removed from its website the controversial Lesson 8 of its curriculum.

The a 160-page tutorial referred to Jews as ‘treacherous’ and ‘crafty,’ compared them to Nazis, and alleged they plotted to kill the Prophet Muhammad.

‘We do have a complaint we are investigating,’ said York Regional Police spokesman Rebecca Boyd.

The EEM is a subsidiary of the Thornhill-based Islamic Shia Ithna Asheri Jamaat of Toronto and has a permit from the Toronto District School Board to teach its lessons on Sundays out of David and Mary Thompson Collegiate Institute.

Under Canada’s Criminal Code, it is against the law to publicly and ‘willfully’ promote hatred against any identifiable group.

David Spiro, co-chair of the Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs Greater Toronto, said such teachings are against ‘Canadian values’ of tolerance and cultural bridge building.

‘It was clearly hatred, and that hate was directed toward the Jewish community,’ insisted Spiro.

Spiro also took aim at the TDSB, saying such teachings should not take place within its facilities, and that the publicly-funded school board should more carefully scrutinize the groups it rents space to.” Read more.

Associated Press – “The CIA thwarted an ambitious plot by Al Qaeda’s affiliate in Yemen to destroy a U.S.-bound airliner using a bomb with a sophisticated new design around the one-year anniversary of the killing of Usama bin Laden, The Associated Press has learned.

The plot involved an upgrade of the underwear bomb that failed to detonate aboard a jetliner over Detroit on Christmas 2009. This new bomb was also designed to be used in a passenger’s underwear, but this time Al Qaeda developed a more refined detonation system, U.S. officials said.

The FBI is examining the latest bomb to see whether it could have passed through airport security and brought down an airplane, officials said. They said the device did not contain metal, meaning it probably could have passed through an airport metal detector. But it was not clear whether new body scanners used in many airports would have detected it.

The would-be suicide bomber, based in Yemen, had not yet picked a target or bought his plane tickets when the CIA stepped in and seized the bomb, officials said. It’s not immediately clear what happened to the alleged bomber.

The operation unfolded even as the White House and Department of Homeland Security assured the American public that they knew of no Al Qaeda plots against the U.S. around the anniversary of bin Laden’s death. The AP learned about the thwarted plot last week but agreed to White House and CIA requests not to publish it immediately because the sensitive intelligence operation was still under way. Once those concerns were allayed, the AP decided to disclose the plot Monday despite requests from the Obama administration to wait for an official announcement Tuesday.” Read more.

‘He was stabbed once in the right side and twice on the left side,’ says Frank Blem-Nielsen from the Copenhagen Police to bt.dk.

The victim has undergone surgery at the hospital, but is reported now out of danger.

The four tourists from different places in Denmark – three men and one woman, all in their early twenties – visited Copenhagen in connection with a music concert. In their search for the center of Copenhagen, they strayed into Nørrebro. As they crossed the People’s Park, the car was surrounded by a group of immigrants.

‘They were pulled out of their car by a group of 10-12 men. One (the man) was stabbed with a knife in the stomach. The others (the three women) were beaten with fists, but have not sustained serious injuries,’ says Frank Blem-Nielsen.

The Guards are using Imam Ali mosques around the globe, including some in the U.S., as terror command centers.

Unit 110 and Unit of Madinah – named after the second holiest city in Islam, the burial place of the Prophet Mohammad – were established to remove the U.S from the Gulf, sources report.

Unit 110 gathers intelligence while Unit of Madinah is in charge of military operations. Both are stationed in the city of Shiraz in Fars Province, under the command of Gholam Hossein Gheib Parvar, according to sources.

Parvar, one of the regime’s most radical military commanders, is in charge of all Guard forces.

According to a former intelligence officer who served in that specific region, their orders are twofold: Incite uprisings within the Shiite minorities in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Yemen and other countries in the region, and prepare for military operations against those countries’ governmental facilities.

Bahrain’s monarchy faces daily protests and occasional terrorist attacks against its police forces and facilities. Protests are also taking place in Saudi Arabia within the minority Shiite population. Yemen is battling al-Qaida forces in addition to government protesters.

Bahrain and Saudi Arabia are key Gulf allies of the United States. Bahrain hosts the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet, and Saudi Arabia can help stabilize oil markets should a conflict develop with Iran.

“BERLIN (AP) – Clashes erupted in Germany when police tried to separate competing rallies by an ultraconservative Muslim group and a small far-right march, injuring 29 officers, authorities said Sunday. More than 100 Salafist protesters were briefly arrested.

The trouble in the western city of Bonn started late Saturday when hundreds of Muslims protested against the rally of about 30 supporters of the local far-right party Pro NRW, which has angered Muslims by showing unfavorable cartoons depicting Islam’s Prophet Muhammad. Strict Muslims oppose any depiction of their prophet.

About 110 Salafist protesters were arrested after they started attacking security forces with stones and bottles, police said. Two of the injured police officers were hospitalized with serious wounds after being stabbed.

Most of the protesters who were arrested were released by Sunday, but prosecutors opened criminal investigations against them on suspicion of breach of the peace. A 25-year-old German protester of Turkish origin, who is suspected of having stabbed the two police officers, remained in custody and was investigated on suspicion of attempted homicide, police said.

‘This was an explosion of violence as we haven’t witnessed in a long time,’ Bonn police chief Ursula Brohl-Sowa said at a news conference Sunday.

About 200 Salafists threw objects toward police after the far-right protesters showed the cartoon depicting Mohammed, she said, according to German news agency dapd.” Read more.

By Gil Ronen – “Jordanian news site Ahbar Baladna reports that western spy satellites have recently spotted movements of Syrian heavy missile launchers northward and southward, toward Syria’s borders with Turkey and Israel.

The site says hundreds of high-caliber launchers are being moved, and that these could only be long range Scud missile launchers.

Syria has threatened in the past that in the event of foreign military intervention on its soil, it will not hesitate to fire missiles at Israel and Turkey in order to ignite a large scale regional war.

Turkish and French officials said ten days ago they were mulling a potential military intervention in Syria, where civil war has been raging for 14 months.

‘In the face of developments in Syria, we are taking into consideration any kind of possibility in line with our national security and interests,’ Turkish foreign minister Ahmet Davutoglu told parliament during a briefing to lawmakers.” Source – Israel National News.

With many living in the West, and some ditching their trademark beards, it is hard to differentiate Brotherhood from leftists. But there is little dispute about who calls the shots.

From annihilation at home 30 years ago when they challenged the iron-fisted rule of Hafez al-Assad, the Brotherhood has recovered to become the dominant force of the exile opposition in the 14-month-old revolt against his son Bashar.

Careful not to undermine the council’s disparate supporters, the Brotherhood has played down its growing influence within the Syrian National Council (SNC), whose public face is the secular Paris-based professor Bourhan Ghalioun.

‘We chose this face, accepted by the West and by the inside. We don’t want the regime to take advantage if an Islamist becomes the Syrian National Council’s head,’ former Brotherhood leader Ali Sadreddine al-Bayanouni told supporters in a video.

By DPA, Haaretz – “Thousands of Jordanians took to the streets on Friday demanding an end to the country’s 18-year-old Wadi Araba peace treaty with Israel.

In a series of nationwide protests, leftist and Islamist activists urged Amman to cut ties with Israel, burning Israeli flags and chanting ‘death, death to Israel’ and ‘the people want an end to Wadi Araba.’

Protesters rallied in seven cities across the country, urging authorities to expel the Israeli ambassador from Amman, chanting ‘no to a Zionist embassy on our land.’

Protest organizers, including the Jordanian Muslim Brotherhood and youth movements, said the demonstrations came as a direct response to King Abdullah’s recent nomination of Prime Minister Fayez Tarawneh, who served as a key figure in the 1994 Jordan-Israel peace process.

Various political and social groups have expressed outrage over comments recently made by Tarawneh indicating that, if given a second chance, he would still support the controversial peace treaty.

‘This is a person who obviously does not respect the people’s will and his words are proof of how out of touch he is with average citizens,’ Jamil Abu Baker, a spokesman for the Muslim Brotherhood, told dpa.” Read more.
