A recent Pew poll on public attitudes toward Islamism in Jordan, Egypt, Lebanon and Turkey shows that the radical Islamist side is winning.  Read more.

The Islamist group is trying to clean up its image, most recently by deleting its objectives from its English-language website. Al-Qaeda does its enemy a favor with its honesty. The Muslim Brotherhood does not make the same mistake. It is more politically savvy and aware of how it can manipulate the minds of Westerners with soft language..  Read more.

An Egyptian-born imam lost a court fight Wednesday to stave off his expulsion from Germany after he was accused of preaching hatred towards Christians and Jews. The superior administrative tribunal in Muenster, northern Germany, agreed to a federal government demand to strip his political asylum. Read more.

Though Muslims represent about 1% of the American population, they constitute defendants in 186 of the 228 cases DOJ lists. More than 80% of all convictions tied to international terrorist groups and homegrown terrorism since 9/11 involve defendants driven by a radical Islamist agenda.  Read more.

“A prominent member of Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood this week became the first member of the Islamist group to visit Iran, where he praised Tehran’s leadership and denounced Israel.

The New York Post reported that Kamal El Helbawy – a London-based Islamic scholar and Brotherhood representative widely known as the movement’s face in the West – told his hosts he wished to see Egypt become, like Iran, ‘a true Islamic state.’

‘Egypt and the world of Islam as a whole need leaders like President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad,’ he said, and ‘should join a new world order with Iran and Venezuela, plus Hezbollah and Hamas to chase away the Americans.

‘Every night when I go to bed, I pray to wake up the next day to see Israel is wiped off the map,’ the Brotherhood leader reportedly said.

Last month, during protests to oust Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, Helbawy told Iran’s Al-Alam television network, ‘The only foreign intervention in this revolution is that of Israel. They destroyed the gas pipeline, so that the revolutionaries would be accused of using explosives. No one would accept a destructive Iranian role in Egypt, or elsewhere. We think highly of a country whose president is important, courageous and has a vision.'”  Read more.

“CAIRO, March 8 (CDN) — A Muslim mob in a village south of Cairo last weekend attacked a church building and burned it down, almost killing the parish priest after an imam issued a call to ‘Kill all the Christians,’ according to local sources.

The attack started on Friday evening (March 4) in the village of Sool, located in the city of Helwan 35 kilometers (22 miles) from Cairo, and lasted through most of Saturday. A local imam, Sheik Ahmed Abu Al-Dahab, issued the call during Friday afternoon prayers, telling area Muslims to kill the Christians because they had “no right” to live in the village. The attack started several hours later.

The Rev. Hoshea Abd Al-Missieh, a parish priest who narrowly escaped death in the fire, said the clamor of the church being torn apart sounded like ‘hatred.’

‘I was in the attack, but I can’t describe it,’ he said. ‘The sound of the church being destroyed that I heard – I can’t describe it, how horrible it was.'”  Read more.
