By Raymond Ibrahim, Raymond Ibrahim – “Earlier this month, the Islamist-led opposition in Syria broadcast a video clip of a militant threatening the nation’s Christian minority, with a focus on the Cherubim monastery and the large Jesus statue recently erected in the region of Saidnaya in Damascus.

In the video, images of militants firing rockets at the ancient monastery and setting the building on fire appear (confirmed elsewhere). The Christ statue also appears being targeted, though it is unclear if it was damaged.

The 128-foot tall bronze Christ statue, christened ‘I have come to save the world,’ was recently erected in war-torn Syria, with support from the Russian Orthodox Church.

Throughout the video clip, Islamic chanting is heard and Koran verses recited, including those vowing destruction to all polytheism (shirk), a reference to Christianity.

After the speaker in the video accuses Syria’s Christians of being supportive of the secular Bashar Assad government, he declares: ‘The swords of Islam shall fall upon your necks in your own monasteries, Allah willing—and Allah is witness to our words!'” Source – Rayond Ibrahim.

Islamists Kill 3 Christian Pastors In Central African Republic

Charisma News – “Three pastors were among those killed in the recent interfaith violence in Bangui, the capital of the Central African Republic.

Pastors Raymond Doui, 46; Elisée Zama, 33; and Jean-Louis Makamba, 48, were killed on Dec. 5 as members of the disbanded Séléka rebel forces went on a rampage following an offensive by Christian-dominated anti-Balaka militias.

Doui, pastor of the Community of Independent Baptist Churches, died at his house in the northern suburb of Fondo. He leaves behind a wife and 11 children. Zama, of the Evangelical Church of the Brethren, was among those killed as ex-Séléka forces raided a hospital. He leaves a wife and five children. Makamba, pastor of the ELIM Church in the north Begoua area, was killed alongside one of his sons by former members of Séléka, which had entered the church compound. His wife and nine surviving children have fled, after hearing that the rebels were after them.

Another pastor, whom World Watch Monitor is not naming to preserve his safety, is on the run with his family after he learned the rebels were looking for him. He is from a Muslim background and went into hiding after the rebels burned his home and that of relatives living close by.

These incidents highlight the religious nature of the conflict, as Muslims and Christians continue to clash.

In all, more than 400 people died in three days, according to the Red Cross, while dozens have sought treatment in the corridors of overcrowded hospitals.

The number of deaths is likely to be far higher, according to a source cited by Open Doors International, a charity that works with Christians under pressure for their faith. Open Doors quotes a source, not named for security purposes, as saying:

‘In reality we must speak of at least 700 dead. The Red Cross has not counted the people that have been slaughtered and thrown into the river or buried directly by relatives or by fishermen.

‘In spite of the arrival of the French and the beginning of the disarmament, the killings continue. The war has become purely religious. Anti-Balaka defensive forces attacked the ex-Séléka and other Muslims first. This invited terrible retaliation against the Christians. The ex-Séléka and Muslim men women and children armed with firearms and machetes went from house to house, killing Christians regardless of their age. The streets of Bangui are littered with corpses. The Red Cross buried hundreds of bodies in mass graves.

‘Most people are hiding indoors. Some have fled into the bush, and about 20,000 Christians fled to the church of Pastor Nicolas Guerékoyamé, the president of the Evangelical Alliance, because he is one of the religious leaders who always denounced the abuses of the ex-Séléka.'” Read more.

Flashback: Central African Republic: Thousands Of Christians Flee After Muslims Hunt Door-To-Door For Enemies Of ‘Allah’ – “Christian civilians fled by the thousands to the airport guarded by French forces in this chaotic capital Friday as the mostly Muslim armed fighters who have ruled the country since March hunted door-todoor for their enemies and the death toll from inter-communal violence rose to 280 people. Bodies lay decomposing along the roads in a city too dangerous for many to collect the corpses. Thursday’s clashes marked the worst unrest in Bangui in nine months and raised fears that waves of retaliatory attacks could soon follow. ‘They are slaughtering us like chickens,’ said Appolinaire Donoboy, a Christian whose family remained in hiding.” Read more.

By Agence France-Presse – “Visiting Afghan President Hamid Karzai said in New Delhi on Saturday he no longer ‘trusts’ the United States, accusing the Americans of saying one thing and doing another in his troubled homeland.

Karzai’s statement to journalists came a day after he insisted he would not be ‘intimidated’ into signing a security pact allowing US troops in Afghanistan to stay on after next year.

‘I don’t trust them,’ Karzai said in a wide-ranging discussion at a local hotel in which he singled out a letter US President Barack Obama wrote last month assuring him that US forces would ‘respect’ the safety of Afghans in their homes.

Karzai was speaking on the second day of a three-day visit to India during which the United States hopes New Delhi can persuade him to sign the troubled troop deal.

Karzai, who is due to stand down after elections next year, initially endorsed the so-called Bilateral Security Agreement, or BSA.

But he later said the agreement could only be signed after the presidential election in April, warning against a NATO presence if it just meant ‘more bombs and killings’.

His stance has outraged US officials and lawmakers, who have threatened a complete forces pullout if Karzai does not sign by the end of the year.

‘When Obama writes to me that he will respect homes, they should prove it… implement the letter, respect Afghan homes,’ Karzai said.

‘Just instruct no more bombings and there will be no more bombings and of course launch the peace process publicly and officially,’ he said.

‘I am trying to make it a win-win for all,’ he said.” Read more.

Enabling The Caliphate: The Middle East Now Has Three Alliances, And None Of Them Are With The U.S.

By Ryan Mauro, The Clarion Project – “Turkey and Iran’s move to form an Islamist super-bloc is changing the balance of the Middle East. Egypt and Saudi Arabia have chosen to lead an Arab bloc of their own, rather than capitulate to their enemies’ dominance.

Our last analysis of this development explained that three distinct blocs were formed since the Muslim Brotherhood was toppled in Egypt:

1. The Shiite bloc consisting of Iran, Hezbollah, Iraq and the Syrian regime.

2. The pro-Muslim Brotherhood Sunni bloc, consisting of Turkey, Qatar, Tunisia, Hamas and some Syrian rebels.

3. The anti-Iran/anti-Brotherhood Sunni bloc consisting of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, other Syrian rebels and other Arab countries.

The first two blocs are on opposite sides in the Syrian civil war, but are hoping to negotiate a ceasefire that allows them to mend ties. The third bloc feels so threatened by the other two that Saudi Arabia is widely rumored to be offering Israel access to its airspace to strike Iran’s nuclear facilities.

Clarion Project was recently told by an intelligence source that the Saudis and Israelis have moved ‘beyond talking’ and there will likely be on-the-ground preparations for this scenario soon.

The Syrian civil war had put Turkey and Iran at odds, but the prolonged stalemate is compelling the two governments to look for a way forward. The Turkish Foreign Minister was recently in Tehran, where he said they agreed to push for a ceasefire. He also said Turkey and Iran will ‘join hands’ to be ‘the backbone of regional stability.’

Both sides are bleeding and spending heavily in the Syrian civil war and the demographic realities make it difficult to envision either side prevailing. Syria is likely to be divided with the Iran-allied regime holding onto the Allawite and Christian areas and the rebel-controlled Sunni areas winning autonomy.

Turkey will have to twist the Syrian Muslim Brotherhood’s arms to make this happen. The group refuses to negotiate with Iran and claims it rejected a recent offer from Iran to pressure Assad into stepping down from power in return for reconciliation.

That is a huge concession. The last reported offer from Iran came in January 2012, when it was willing to hand the Syrian government to the Brotherhood as long as Assad remains at the helm. Now, if the Syrian Brotherhood is telling the truth, the Iranian regime is willing to push Assad aside. Unfortunately for Turkey and Iran, the Brotherhood is unwilling to be seen as a sell-out.

The third bloc led by Saudi Arabia is not giving up on overthrowing Assad and is using its proxies to become the dominant Syrian rebel force. The Saudis arranged for rebel units to break away from the Free Syria Army to form the Salafist-led ‘Army of Islam.’ This Salafist force represents the Saudi brand of Islam but is opposed to Al-Qaeda, an enemy of the Saudi Royal Family.

The Army of Islam is the beginning of Saudi Arabia’s plan to build a 40-50,000 strong national army. The Saudis imported Pakistani instructors to train 5-10,000 of them and have set up training centers in Jordan.

The nuclear deal with Iran heightened the tension between these blocs. As the deal was being finalized, an Iran-backed militia in Iraq fired mortar shells into Saudi Arabia. It said that it was retaliation for Saudi Arabia’s anti-Shiite agitation.

‘If they continue their provocations, we will carry out armed operations inside Saudi territories,’ the militia threatened.” Read more.

Syria: Muslim Cleric Tells Children To Hate And Kill Christians, ‘The Entire World Is For Allah’

It would be better for him to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied around his neck than for him to cause one of these little ones [children] to sin.’”

By Raymond Ibrahim, Frontpage Mag – “A video recently appeared of an Islamic Sunni cleric in Syria inciting Muslim schoolboys, most of whom appear  to be between the ages of five-twelve, to hate and kill Christians and others.

According to a report in Arabic (scroll down for video), among other things, the sheikh calls on the children to ‘slaughter all Christians for being infidels’ and that he boasted that ‘the Christians of Syria are under continuous attack and their churches and monasteries subject to violence.’

In the video, the sheikh first talks of Islam’s egalitarianism—that it does not consider the race, nationality, or language of people, only whether they have submitted to Islam by becoming Muslims or not—adding, ‘because the entire world is for Allah.’

He then tells the children that ‘Islam uplifts the Muslims and debases the non-Muslims,’ while raising one hand, symbolic of Islam, and lowering the other, symbolic of all non-Islam, to drive the point home to his young audience.

Next the sheikh asked the children, ‘Now, the crusaders, that is, the Christians, are they Muslims or infidels?’ A few boys answer, ‘infidels.’

He agreed, pointing out that various Koran verses say that whoever says Jesus is the son of God (that is, Allah) or that he is God is an infidel (see Koran 5:73 and 5:17).

To clarify the point to those children unable to understand all this ‘theological’ talk, the cleric made the sign of the cross, saying ‘Christians are they who do this.’

He then moved on to the Alawites, the Shia sect of President Bashar Assad, and called on the children to slaughter anyone belonging to them—making a knife-slitting motion with his hand across his neck—because they too are infidels.

The sheikh further told the children in attendance that what they are being taught in schools—that Christians and Alawites are their ‘brothers’ and they are all one nation—is false and a lie against Islam. This would be a reference to the highly divisive Islamic doctrine of loyalty and enmity, which commands Muslims to hate all non-Muslims—even if they are married to them.

As for the school text books that the boys are taught from—which he said teach all Syrians to treat each other as ‘brothers’ and as ‘one nation,’ regardless of religion—these he called ‘poisonous,’ since ‘these teachings contradict the law [Sharia] of Allah.’

Finally, while confirming that some non-Muslims have ‘rights’ under Islam—a reference to third-class dhimmi status—he called on the children never to show any love for Christians or Alawites, even if they are their neighbors.

Such is the unswerving nature of the ‘rebels’ and ‘opposition’ that the U.S. government is supporting.” Source – FrontPage Mag.

Daniel 9:27 Redux: Will Antichrist Make A False 7-Year Peace Treaty With Israel?

BookOfDanielOne of the most commonly held positions by many premillennial Christians today asserts that the time leading up to the Second Coming of Christ will be immediately preceded by a seven-year “peace treaty” signed between Antichrist and Israel. While I had at one time held to this position myself, subsequent studies have lead me to conclude that there is no solid Biblical basis for this view, only interpretative assumptions. Years of personal study as it relates to Biblical eschatology has also made it apparent to me that, even though we’d all love to believe we have every aspect of the prophetic texts completely figured out, we still continue to see as through a glass darkly. With as many opinions regarding secondary doctrines as there are Christian denominations, one obvious reality is that there is not a single pastor or teacher or author who has a complete and perfect understanding of Scripture or that is free from error, myself included, indicating that one interpretative method or hermeneutical approach alone cannot provide all the answers that we so often seek as students of Scripture.

As brothers and sisters in Christ, we can vigorously debate secondary doctrines (these must never be allowed to divide us) yet remain united on the essentials of our faith. Recently, I had the pleasure of engaging in a spirited debate regarding the prophecy of Daniel 9:24-27 with Joel Richardson, author of “Mideast Beast” (which I highly recommend) and a brother in Christ whom I esteem highly. Following our debate, Joel felt it was necessary to defend the view which posits an upcoming seven-year peace treaty between Israel and Antichrist by writing a subsequent article titled “The Antichrist’s False Peace Treaty” and offering a number of reasons why he believed it to be a sound, tenable position. Obama, Iran, And The Coming Nuclear War

Iran has gained time, an access to part of its frozen assets and a stable channel of influence on the West. Western diplomats and politicians got the chance of telling the people- again- the famous phrase, ‘I’ve brought you peace,’ demonstrating that they are working for the good of the world 24/7/365.

Russia and China have again demonstrated that they are playing an important role. The only black sheep is Israel who stubbornly refuses to join the chorus of those who praise Ayatollah Khomeini, President Roukhani, President Obama, President Putin and all the other Presidents and Prime Ministers, together with their relevant teams. And Saudi Arabia is also spoiling the celebration- but it’s a small detail.

Has Iran really ceded something important in exchange for cancelling a huge part of its sanctions? No. Will Iran be able to restore even that part it ceded in no time? Yes, of course. Nobody doubts it.

As it turns out, the question that worries politicians most is not if Iran will or will not get an A-bomb, but who played the main role in negotiations. The Russian Foreign Minister insists that all the ideas were generated by Mr. Putin. The US’s John Kerry praises the political genius of Mr. Obama and hints on some secret talks that the USA had been holding with Iran for quite a long time (without informing their closest allies in the region, Israel and Saudi Arabia, but it’s, again, a small detail). And who cares that Netanyahu talks about the ‘historical mistake’ and about the evident fact that Iran kept all its nuclear facilities and can calmly go on building the A-Bomb.

Obama avoided the war he did not wish and did not need. In doing so, he brushed aside all the obligations and promises made by the previous US Administrations and by him personally concerning the security of America’s closest allies: Saudi Arabia and Israel. The political prestige of the United States has fallen below the level of the Challenger Deep. But after all, the United States of America has kept its best ally that is always true: the United States of America. Others should have been smarter.

Europe avoided- not the war, as Europe would not start a war with Iran no matter what inspired-by-Saudi-money France could say- but Europe escaped responsibility, accurately placing it on the USA and Russia.

China made its position stronger among those who decide- without exposing itself to any danger, as the Iranian nuclear program, peaceful or not, does not pose any threat to China, and China will go on trading with Iran as it was trading before, with international sanctions- or without them. This fact, by the way, does not affect the Chinese fruitful cooperation with Saudi Arabia.

Russia stands apart. On the one hand, Russia is the only country among all the negotiating powers that has a border with Iran. And this border is not the calmest on Earth. Iran demands to recognize its rights on 20% of the Caspian Sea, and judging by the inflexibility of both parts, this territorial dispute will drag on for the next two or three centuries. On the other hand, Iran has not destabilized the situation in the Russian North Caucasus, although it could easily do it.  And this demonstrates that Iran is very interested in keeping any conflict with Russia low-profile in search of Russian technological help and political support.

BBC: Infections Are The True Beneficiaries Of War

In Revelation 6, the description of the seals given by John point to compound stages of the eschatonic Beast empire from which Antichrist arises, the empire of Islam. From the very beginning of Islam’s inception, each successive seal has been the end result of the one preceding it. The opening of the 1st seal, for instance (Mohammed’s desire to conquer through lies and deceptions), precipitates or triggers the wars and the removal of peace from the earth that John then describes in the 2nd seal, which together advances all the pestilences and plagues and famines and destruction that accompany it in the 3rd seal. Take the poliovirus outbreak in Syria – and Israel and Egypt too – caused by related strains that can be traced back to Pakistan.

War and insurgency provide the ideal conditions for bacteria and viruses to take a foothold, so it is little surprise that poliovirus has become entrenched – endemic – in Pakistan and Afghanistan and has now re-emerged in the Middle East.

Similarly in Africa, political obstruction to vaccination campaigns means that poliovirus continues to circulate in northern Nigeria and igniting an outbreak in war-torn Somalia and the wider Horn of Africa.

Many public health experts believe that the lack of vigorous vaccination programmes meant that this was an outbreak waiting to happen.

Damage to road networks leaves healthcare workers unable to get vaccines and medicines to the people needing them.

Most vaccines have to be kept cool until they are used, but interruptions to power supplies and lengthy journeys prevent this.

In Syria, poor vaccine coverage, coupled with overcrowding, lack of clean water and poor sanitation, is undoubtedly helping fan the flames of the poliovirus outbreaks.

But it is not just overcrowding and poverty that cause problems. Mass movement of troops and refugees greatly facilitates the spread of infectious disease.” Read more.

A video released by a leading Islamist faction shows Islamist military leader Abu Bilal al-Homsi exhorting his followers to reject the largely secular Free Syrian Army, led by Salim Idris.

According to Al-Homsi, Idris has said that the Free Syrian Army under his command is fighting for ‘democracy, secularism, communism, and the rights of minority groups’, including Syrian Druze.

Rebels must fight not for democracy or rights, but for Islam, Al-Homsi declared. From the beginning, the purpose of the rebellion was to institute Islamic law, he argued.

‘The Koran is our law,’ he emphasized.

He argued that Idris’ alleged statements constitute a betrayal of thousands of rebel fighters who died for Islam, and prove that the Free Syrian Army is taking orders from foreign powers.” Read more.

Central African Republic: Thousands Of Christians Flee After Muslims Hunt Door-To-Door For Enemies Of ‘Allah’

Bodies lay decomposing along the roads in a city too dangerous for many to collect the corpses. Thursday’s clashes marked the worst unrest in Bangui in nine months and raised fears that waves of retaliatory attacks could soon follow.

‘They are slaughtering us like chickens,’ said Appolinaire Donoboy, a Christian whose family remained in hiding.

France had pledged to increase its presence in its former colony well before Christian militias attacked the capital at dawn Thursday. The arrival of additional French troops and equipment came as the capital teetered on the brink of total anarchy and represented the greatest hope for many Central Africans.

About 1,000 French troops were expected to be on the ground by Friday evening, a French defence official said.

As night fell across the near anarchic capital, Christians fearing retaliatory attacks by the mostly Muslim ex-rebels crowded as close to the runway as possible, laying out their woven mats in front of a barbed wire coiled fence. National radio announced that at least 280 people had died, citing figures from local Red Cross officials.

France signalled its amped up presence Friday by sending out armoured vehicles to patrol the streets.

Up to 250 French troops are carrying out permanent patrols in Bangui, and ‘we didn’t notice any direct clashes between armed groups today,’ said French military spokesman Col. Gilles Jaron in Paris.

On Thursday, however, 10 armed attackers in a pickup truck fired on a French position at the airport.” Read more.
