The Palestinian Authority, controlled by the Fatah terror group, is once again trying its hand at “unification” with its sister terror group, Hamas. As a sign of Fatah’s “goodwill,” Saeb Erekat, the PA’s top negotiator and a senior member of the Palestine Liberation Organization, called on Hamas to implement all previous agreements with Fatah in order to “fight together against Israel.”

Erekat made the comments Saturday at a conference titled “The Strategy of Resistance.” Erekat said that “we demand that Hamas, more than ever before, implement the Cairo and Doha agreements. The political movements have an obligation to resolve their differences at the ballot box, and not through bullets.”

Hamas and Fatah have been at odds since 2007, when Hamas took over the Gaza Strip, booting out Fatah, which retreated to Palestinian Authority-controlled areas of Judea and Samaria. Centered in Ramallah, Fatah has sought to regain control of Gaza – and is willing to reconcile with Hamas, if that is what it takes.

“I hereby declare, in the make of President Mahmoud Abbas and the directorate of Fatah, that Hamas is a Palestinian movement, and is not and never was a terror group,” Erekat added.

Salam Al Haideri, 24, of Niskayuna, faces 25 years in prison after the jury of nine men and three women found him guilty of predatory sex assault and first-degree rape. The panel began deliberating at 11:20. It reached its verdict at 1 p.m. — and that included time for lunch and a brief break to ask the judge a question.

Acting Supreme Court Justice Roger McDonough set sentencing for May 16.

Al Haideri is the third Middle East refugee — all brought to the Capital Region under the same federally funded resettlement program — to be convicted of a sex crime since 2010.

In closing arguments, Assistant District Attorney Chantelle Cleary played a surveillance video of the distraught 96-pound victim entering a Mobil Mart in Colonie, where she told the clerk, twice: ‘I just got raped’ and said her attacker ‘smashed my face into the ground.’

Al Haideri and a friend had met the victim, whom neither man knew, at the Buddha Tea House club on North Pearl Street in the pre-dawn hours of June 2, 2013. The 4-foot-11 woman got in their car and, during the ride, Al Haideri touched her. She said she wanted to go home and she and Al Haideri argued. When Al Haideri’s friend stopped the car, Al Haideri yanked the woman out of the car and took her behind a trash bin behind ‘I Love NY’ pizzeria on Central Avenue by Vly Road, Cleary said.

Al Haideri smashed the victim’s face into the pavement, ripped open her shorts and raped her for 12 minutes as she begged him to stop, Cleary said.

‘This is an act of just pure anger,’ Cleary told jurors. ‘When she started to fight back, he beat her into submission and then he took what he believed he was entitled to.'” Read more.

Shafqat Maseeh, 38, who works as a watchman in the Saint Cathedral School in Gojra, and his wife Shagufta Maseeh, 42, were arrested in July last year, following a complaint by shopkeeper Malik Mohammad Hussain and local authority Anwar Mansoor Goraya.

The additional district and sessions court judge Amer Habib pronounced the verdict in the district jail, where the case was heard.

Apart from the death sentence, each of the accused has also been ordered to pay a penalty of 100,000 Pakistani Rupees (£615).

Lawyers representing the couple and rights groups have argued that the duo were not involved in sending the blasphemous messages and accused the complainants of malpractice.

‘They [complainants Hussain and Goraya] were reading verses from the Koran. They also said that if the court wouldn’t sentence them to death, they would make sure they would be killed the same way as other opponents of the blasphemy legislation,’ said Farrukh Said, the executive director of the Pakistan-based World Vision in Progress, according to local news.

The latest ruling has come within days of a similar sentence in which another Christian was given the death penalty under blasphemy charges.” Read more.

Oklahoma Rattled By Record-Breaking Earthquake Activity

By Carey Gillam, Reuters – “Earthquakes rattled residents in Oklahoma on Saturday, the latest in a series that have put the state on track for record quake activity this year, which some seismologists say may be tied to oil and gas exploration.

One earthquake recorded at 3.8 magnitude by the U.S. Geological Survey rocked houses in several communities around central Oklahoma at 7:42 a.m. local time. Another about two hours earlier in the same part of the state, north of Oklahoma City, was recorded at 2.9 magnitude, USGS said.

Those two were preceded by two more, at 2.6 magnitude, and 2.5 magnitude, that also rolled the landscape in central Oklahoma early Saturday morning. A 3.0 magnitude tremor struck late Friday night in that area as well, following a 3.4 magnitude hit Friday afternoon.

Austin Holland, a seismologist with the Oklahoma Geological Survey who tracks earthquake activity for the USGS, said the earthquake activity in the state is soaring.

‘We have had almost as many magnitude 3 and greater already in 2014 than we did for all of 2013,’ Holland said.

Last year’s number of ‘felt’ earthquakes – those strong enough to rattle items on a shelf – hit a record 222 in the state. This year, less than four months into the year, the state has recorded 253 such tremors, according to state seismic data.

‘We have already crushed last year’s record for number of earthquakes,’ Holland said.

Most earthquakes occur naturally. But scientists have long linked some small earthquakes to oil and gas work underground, which can alter pressure points and cause shifts in the earth.

Oil and gas exploration has increased in recent years across the country, spurred by U.S. efforts for energy independence. Modern hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, is one particularly controversial technique.

For bigger quakes, so far this year the state has recorded 106 at 3.0 magnitude and above, according to Holland. For all of last year the state had 109 at 3.0 and above.” Read more.

By Dalit Halevy and Ari Yashar, INN – “A Canadian court held a trial Tuesday for Mohamed Hersi, a Somali-Canadian resident of Toronto, who was accused of trying to join the Al Qaeda-affiliated Somali terrorist group Al Shabab. The group was responsible for the deadlyWestgate Mall massacre in Nairobi last September.

Hersi was arrested in 2011 at Toronto’s Pearson airport while leaving Canada, reportedly to join the terror group, in the first case of a Canadian being arrested while on their way out of the country to take part in terrorist activities, according to the National Post.

Investigations of 28-year-old Hersi began in 2010, after dry cleanersdiscovered a SD card with instructions on how to make explosives in the pocket of clothes he brought in for cleaning. After the card was transferred to police, an undercover officer was assigned to Hersi, posing as a fellow terrorist hopeful.

Over the course of the years, the officer recorded numerous conversations with Hersi in which he expressed hatred towards the West, Canada, Christians, and ‘infidels’ in general, reports Shalom Toronto.

Hersi claimed in the recordings that any rule, even that of a tyrant, would be preferable to the ‘police state’ of Canada, in which non-Muslims ‘hate Islam,’ and Christians ‘don’t understand what ethics are.’

In one taped conversation, he confessed to avidly reading the Al Qaeda propaganda magazine Inspire, and noted that he particularly enjoyed an article attacking the West and giving permission to steal from non-Muslims…

‘I always picture (myself) as a type of, you know, like a silent assassin,’ said Hersi in one recorded conversation. ‘Some of those people deserve to, you know, get what they, what’s coming to them, you know. If you ever insult the prophet Allah, peace be upon him, you deserve a certain outcome, you know.'” Read more.

Boko Haram, in a video, also warns police to get out of the way because the group’s drive for Islamic law, or Shariah, will not be stopped.

Islam analyst Theodore Shoebat noted the jihadists sing an ominous song in the video that is ‘purely in accordance with Islamic tenets.’

They sing: ‘We are working for Allah and must bring Shariah to existence; we are committed to protecting Muslims from being annihilated by infidels. We are going to kill them. We will enter churches and slaughter Christians and barracks. We are calling on all Muslims to come out and fight jihad. If you joke, these infidels will annihilate Muslims. You see how they are killing our women and children.

In what analysts call one of Boko Haram’s most brazen video statements, the jihadists bragged that they’ve displayed their skill in northern Nigeria and against the ‘infidels’ in the northern Plateau and Kaduna states.

U.S. Nigeria Law Group managing partner and Nigeria analyst Emmanuel Ogebe said the video is possibly a ‘recruiting tool.’

‘The release of this video is probably a rallying call to embedded terrorists to deploy. Boko Haram is quite media savvy, and its main mode of communication is not conventional telecoms but videos,’ Ogebe said.

Ogebe added that the vocal tracks on the video are filled with invectives to incite Muslims to jihad.

‘The sound track of this video is laced with messages about attacks on Christians, even naming the states and location where they have ‘obliterated’ Christians and where they are going next,’ Ogebe said.” Read more.

RT – “Videos of bison seemingly fleeing Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming have sparked concerns among some bloggers that recent seismic activity could trigger the eruption of the park’s so-called supervolcano.

According to Epoch Times, multiple videos of such incidents have been posted online recently, one of which shows a herd of buffalo allegedly leaving the park and ‘running for their lives.’ Although people behind the discussion acknowledge there’s no way to predict when the park’s massive volcano could erupt, they believe the reaction of the Yellowstone’s animals could signal some kind of alert.

On March 30, Yellowstone was struck by the most powerful earthquake it has experienced since 1980 – a 4.8 magnitude quake that did no damage, but that some believe could be connected to the various animals’ movements.

‘Whether I believe this, or whether I don’t believe the story or not, I don’t know. I can tell you this story I saw this morning about the buffaloes running the street … whether or not it’s because of any activity in Yellowstone or not, I don’t know,’ said blogger Jay Lee, according to the Times.

‘But I’ll tell you this, whatever the case may be, that their running away from Yellowstone is an alert of some sort.’

Another video uploaded to YouTube, this time by self-described ‘survivalist’ and ‘search-and-rescue expert’ Tom Lupshu, claims, ‘Biologists aren’t sure if there’s been a stunning decline in the herd or if other factors have skewed the tally.’ Lupshu also said that helium releases in the area are 1,000 times above normal levels, and accused the US Geological Survey of not reporting small quakes occurring near the volcano.

‘Herds of bison running for their lives on the public roadways and they were not being chased or rounded up, the bison were running down the mountain slopes onto roadways running right past a filming crew,’ he added. ‘They detect something vast and deadly. The Yellowstone Supervolcano is the only thing there that would fit the bill.’

The supervolcano – which was found last year to be 2.5 times larger than previously thought – has not erupted in over 640,000 years, leaving some to speculate that a blast is overdue. If and when it erupts again, the volcano could potentially spew ash over large swathes of North America and cause trouble around the entire planet.

‘It would be a global event,’ Jamie Farrell of the University of Utah told the Associated Press last year. ‘There would be a lot of destruction and a lot of impacts around the globe.'” Read more.

“Narrated Anas bin Malik:

We arrived at Khaibar, and when Allah helped His Apostle to open the fort, the beauty of Safiya bint Huyai bin Akhtaq whose husband had been killed while she was a bride, was mentioned to Allah’s Apostle. The Prophet selected her for himself, and set out with her, and when we reached a place called Sidd-as-Sahba, Safiya became clean from her menses then Allah’s Apostle married her. Hais (i.e. an ‘Arabian dish) was prepared on a small leather mat. Then the Prophet said to me, “I invite the people around you.” So that was the marriage banquet of the Prophet and Safiya. Then we proceeded towards Medina, and I saw the Prophet, making for her a kind of cushion with his cloak behind him (on his camel). The regulations place secular citizens who commit thought crimes in the same category as violent terrorist groups such as Al-Qaeda’s Yemen branch and Saudi Hezbollah.

Under the new decree by King Abdullah, Saudi Arabia will jail for up to 20 years anyone who fights in conflicts abroad – an apparent move to deter Saudis from joining rebels in Syria.

But the law also applies to any Saudi citizen or a foreigner residing in the kingdom that ‘calls for atheist thought in any form or calls into question the fundamentals of the Islamic religion on which this country is based.’

The laws have been denounced by human rights groups for making no distinction between religious expression and violent extremism.

‘Saudi authorities have never tolerated criticism of their policies, but these recent laws and regulations turn almost any critical expression or independent association into crimes of terrorism,’ said Joe Stork, deputy Middle East and North Africa director at Human Rights Watch.” Read more.

This Muslim student was apparently enraged at the insolence of this Christian teacher, who should have known his place, daring to reprimand him. And so he exerted justice. The question now will be whether he will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law, even with Egypt’s present post-Muslim Brotherhood government, or whether Islamic supremacists sympathetic to his act will see to it that he gets off lightly.

A Coptic Christian teacher in Marzouk prep school in Minya was shot in the head by a student that belongs to the Muslim Brotherhood terrorist group. Eyewitnesses said that the student was caught smoking in the class and was reprimanded. Therefore, he decided to take revenge of this Coptic teacher and shot him in the head while he was returning home.
