Leaders Admit Greece May Leave Euro, Could Trigger ‘Chain Reaction’ of Collapses in Europe, Britain Prepares for Worst

At a late night news conference in Cannes on Wednesday, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Nicolas Sarkozy shattered the bloc’s most sacred taboo, conceding openly for the first time that Greece might end up having to leave the tight-knit currency club it joined a decade ago.
The admission, after an intense two-hour meeting with Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou on the eve of a G20 summit, sets the euro zone on a perilous course that could reverberate in Europe and beyond for decades.
Were Greece to leave the euro zone, a step that until now European officials have said is technically and legally impossible, the consequences would be devastating even though the country represents just 2.5 percent of the 17-nation currency area’s gross domestic product (GDP).
Just how devastating is difficult to say because the move would take Europe and the global financial system into uncharted territory.

Egyptian Sheikh Issues Fatwa Prohibiting Votes for Any Candidates Except Pro-Sharia Islamists
“CARIO: Mohammad Amer, a Salafi Sheikh in Damanhur, Egypt, issued a fatwa prohibiting votes for any Christian, secular or liberal candidate, as well as any Muslim candidate who does not pray daily or call for the implementation of Shariah law.
The fatwa also prohibited voting for any former member of the dissolved National Democratic Party (NDP), associated with the regime of deposed President Hosni Mubarak, with the exception of a few ‘honorable’ candidates.
Amer claimed that voting for any such candidate would constitute a grave sin.
‘I want the voters to vote in favor of the candidates of the Islamic movements and to oppose those who want to separate religion from the state. There is nothing called liberalism in Islam and there is no absolute freedom in our religion,’ he said to London’s Asharq al-Awsat newspaper, defending the move.” Read more.

By Oralandar Brand-Williams and Shawn D. Lewis – “Dearborn — The local head of a national Muslim civil rights group says a Christian prayer summit to be held at Ford Field next week promotes anti-Muslim sentiment and is warning local mosques to step up their security.
Dawud Walid, executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations — Michigan, met Wednesday with Muslim activists to voice his concern over the rhetoric he fears could be at the center of the event Nov. 11.
‘There’s a bigger force or movement behind this prayer summit and how they’re literally demonizing Muslims,’ he said.
But Metro Detroit pastors involved in the event say the gathering is merely meant to help Detroit, not target Muslims.
‘I don’t know anything about that,’ said Bishop Edgar Vann of Second Ebenezer Church. ‘People are coming here to pray for our city and that’s what I’m concerned about. Christians will be praying, but it’s open to anyone.’
The Call is being promoted as a 24-hour long prayer event aimed at lifting the city out of its ‘greatest darkness.’ Its website says attendees will ‘gather to this city that has become a microcosm of our national crisis — economic collapse, racial tension, the rising tide of the Islamic movement, and the shedding of innocent blood of our children in the streets and our unborn.’
Senior pastor Jerry Weinzierl of Grace Christian Church in Sterling Heights said the event is not anti-Muslim.’It’s not to pray against anybody,’ he said. ‘It is a very positive movement of Christians gathering together to pray.’
Walid advised the heads of local mosques to ‘maintain security at all entrances, and make sure to notify the police immediately if suspicious persons congregate on mosque property.'” Source – The Detroit News.

By Kris Sims, SUN – “OTTAWA – A newly released survey suggests a large number of Muslims living in Canada will not disown Al-Qaida.
The study, conducted by the MacDonald Laurier Institute, found 65% of Muslims questioned said they would ‘repudiate absolutely’ the terrorist organization, while 35% would not do so.
‘From a security perspective, it is difficult to know if a 65% rate of repudiation (of Al-Qaida) is re-assuring or a 35% failure to repudiate troubling,’ wrote study authors Christian Leuprecht, associate professor of the Royal Military College of Canada and Conrad Winn, Carleton University professor and president of COMPAS, a public opinion research firm.
‘The most radical political views tended to be expressed by relatively secular people, often equipped with higher education in the social sciences, while devout Muslims were sometimes the most articulate advocates for Canada and democracy.’ According to the Ottawa based think tank, only a small minority of Muslim newcomers to Canada reject Hamas, Hezbollah, or the Iranian regime.
The survey, which was released Tuesday, found 62% wanted some form of Shariah law in Canada, 15% of them saying it should be mandatory for all Muslims.
The report also states support for extremism is just as high among Muslims born in Canada, or other Western countries, as it is among those hailing from oppressive dictatorships.
The survey involved phone interviews with 455 Muslims in Ottawa, between May and July 2008, with a margin of error of five percentage points. The study was funded by the University of Maryland for the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism. These reports reveal the depth of the below-the-surface coordination between the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR), Hamas, Hezbollah, the Iranian regime and the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, Syria, Tunisia, Libya and Jordan. This bloc of regimes and organizations is now becoming the greatest Islamist radical lobby ever to penetrate and infiltrate the White House, Congress, the State Department and the main decision making centers of the US government. All of this is happening at a time when the US government is going through its most strategically dangerous period in modern times because of its need to confront the Iranian Mullahs regime, which is expanding in the Middle East, as well as penetrating the United States, via powerful and influential allies.
It looks like the near future will uncover many surprises after the fall of the Gaddafi regime, as we realize more and more that the popular revolts in the Arab world – and the Obama Administration’s position towards them – were determined by political battles between various pressure groups in Washington. Moreover, pressures by these lobbying groups have left an impact on the region’s events, the last of which was the canceling of the visit of Maronite Patriarch Rahi to Washington. A number of Arab and Western news agencies have leaked that one of ‘those who sought to cancel this visit was Dalia Mujahid, a top advisor on Islamic and Arab affairs at the State Department, who is of Egyptian origin. And that’, said the reports, ‘came at the request of the high command of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, who wish to see the US Administration support the Islamist Sunni current.’
Also very noticeable at this point is the growing domination of Islamist forces around the Mediterranean: the victory of the Nahda Islamist Party in Tunisia, the declaration by (TNC Chairman) Mustafa Abdeljalil that Libya is an Islamist state and the rise of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt. These developments wouldn’t have happened without the approval of the United States. A document published in Washington indicated that Egypt will face more violence and tensions while moving to the Pakistani, rather than the Turkish, model. Egypt will be ruled by an opportunistic bourgeoisie and a regime declaring itself Islamist, and it will be backed by a military institution. The military will be used by the Islamists to maintain power but the armed forces, the parliament, the regime and the constitution will all become Islamist.
In return, the Maronite Patriarch is denied a visit to Washington, Coptic Christian churches are destroyed in Egypt, and Coptic demonstrators are massacred at Maspero in Cairo by the Egyptian military, demonstrating that the goal is to suppress Christians in the Middle East, who are – as Patriarch Rahi said – paying a high price for the revolts of the Arab Spring.” Read more.
Global March to Jerusalem: Million Man Worldwide ‘Caravan’ Organize March to ‘Liberate’ Jerusalem and ‘All of Palestine’
Could this be laying any sort of groundwork to somehow portend to the ‘man of sin’ standing in the ‘holy place’? If the organizers of this effort are successful in achieving even 10% of their ‘million man’ goal, the notion of a ‘peaceful’ march over into ‘Palestine’ and towards Jerusalem will be anything but peaceful and could induce an even greater number of like-minded ‘activists’ into joining the cause. If that were to happen this time, Jacob could be in for a bit of trouble up ahead …
By David Lev – “Israeli security officials are keeping a wary eye out on several groups that are planning mass marches on Jerusalem. One march is scheduled for November 25, and is being organized by the group that tried to conduct a mass march to Jerusalem last September.
This time, however, organizers – and Israeli security officials – believe that the group may attract larger numbers. The group is set out from three locations – Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon – on November 25, with the objective of reaching Jerusalem on November 29, the anniversary of the adoption of the UN partition plan for Mandatory Palestine. Officials said that the group was encouraged by the recent attempt – and temporary success – of Syrian Druze who ‘invaded’ the Golan Heights for several hours, tearing down a border fence to enter the country. Several sources claimed that some of the Syrian Druze were able to enter the interior of Israel, with several claiming to have reached Tel Aviv.
But even more worrisome is another march is scheduled for March 2012, Israeli officials said. That march is being organized by Indian activist Feroze Mithiborwala, who said in a recent press conference in Pakistan that the march will unite people from all over the world, and of all faiths – including Muslims, Hindus, Christians, Sikhs and Jews – ‘to participate in the march towards the Jerusalem and liberate it from the Zionists.’ The march would be in the form of a ‘caravan’ which would start from three directions – Asia, Europe, and Africa, originating in India, Turkey and Morocco respectively. The caravans would stop in all the countries on the way and pick up more participants. The objective is to gather hundreds of thousands, if not millions of people at the borders of Israel who would simply push their way through, reaching Jerusalem and ‘liberating’ it.” Read more.

It’s Unofficial: Greek Prime Minister Scraps Referendum on Greek Debt Plan
“ATHENS, Greece – Greece’s prime minister abandoned his explosive plan to put a European rescue deal to popular vote and opened emergency talks Thursday with his opponents, who reversed themselves and agreed to broad austerity measures in exchange for a European bailout.
Prime Minister George Papandreou ignored widespread calls for his resignation and instead invited the opposition to join negotiations on the bailout, telling an emergency Cabinet meeting that early elections would force Greece into leaving the 17-nation euro currency, with disastrous effects for both Greece and other European economies.
Papandreou sparked a global crisis Monday when he announced he would put the latest European deal to cut Greece’s massive debts — an accord that took months of negotiations — to a referendum. The idea horrified other EU nations and Greece’s creditors, triggering turmoil in financial markets as investors fretted over the prospect of Greece being forced into a disorderly default.
Two officials close to Papandreou said Thursday the referendum idea has now been scrapped, after the debt deal won support from the opposition. Papandreou spoke with conservative opposition leader Antonis Samaras in the afternoon, his office said, before a major address to his Socialist party deputies in parliament.” Read more.
UK: Britain on Alert for Strain of Killer Flu, ‘One of the Biggest Biological Threats of Our Time’
By Jo Willey – “A NEW strain of killer flu which could spread to Britain within 24 hours is ‘one of the biggest biological threats of our time’, experts warned.
The alert comes after people started to fall victim to seasonal flu and the more virulent swine flu at the same time.
Such a rare incidence creates the risk of a lethal mutation, leading to an ‘ominous’ super-flu virus for which humans have almost no immunity, said medical scientists.
Dr Peter Hotez, a world-renowned infectious disease expert, warned: ‘Highly infectious strains of the virus against which humans have little defence can spread from one continent to another within 24 hours.’ He said the fact scientists had detected the rare double-flu infection highlighted the need for extreme vigilance against new killer strains around the world.
Dr Hotez, president of the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, praised the scientists who had made the discovery.
But he warned: ‘We are required to remain vigilant against one of the biggest biological threats of our time.’
This comes as Britain’s winter flu season gets underway, amid fears it could be one of the worst outbreaks of the disease in years.
Last year more than 600 people died from winter flu in the UK, with hospitals so overwhelmed they were forced to cancel routine operations.
The severity of the outbreak in late 2010 took experts by surprise as it was far more virulent than had been predicted.
But many Britons still have little immunity to the virus strain because of low uptake of the vaccine that fights it.
The true nature of this year’s virus won’t be known until the weather gets colder and people spend more time indoors, which leads to the quick transmission of the disease.” Read more.
Iran: Upcoming UN Report to Reveal Iran is Attempting to Engineer and Test Nuclear Weapons
Iran will of course continue to call any assertions that they’re after nuclear weapons “baseless”. Besides, even if they were seeking to develop nuclear weapons, it’s all for “peaceful purposes” …
By Damien McElroy – “The research by the UN’s watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency, will add a substantial layer to seven years of investigations that is likely to inflame tensions in the Middle East.
Yukiya Amano, the organisation’s director-general, is unlikely to draw a definitive conclusion that Iran is making nuclear weapons, but according to Western diplomats the facts will make any other conclusion implausible.
They believe the IAEA has substantiated evidence from intelligence reports, interviews with Iranian scientists and on-the-ground inspections that Iran is carrying out a nuclear weapons programme in parallel to its civilian energy goals.
The agency will sound the alarm over Iranian scientists’ work to develop a ballistic missile warhead capable of carrying a nuclear device. It has already uncovered evidence that Iran has been carrying out research into triggers for nuclear weapons.
Inspectors have also questioned Iranian scientists on simulation programmes that they believe are designed to design and test a potential weapon.
‘This is the product of a vast amount of work by the IAEA which will show the level of evidence they’ve accumulated and make clear a number of supplementary indications they have uncovered,’ said a Western diplomat. ‘It makes an inescapable case that Iran has ambitions to militarise the uranium it has been enriching at its production facilities.'” Read more.
‘UK Speeding Up Planning for Potential US-Led Iran Attack’
“The British military is accelerating planning for its part in a potential US-led attack on Iran’s nuclear facilities, The Guardian reported on Wednesday, days after the UK’s military chief visited Israel.
Defense Minister Ehud Barak is currently in London on a state visit, where he met with senior officials, including British National Security Adviser Peter Ricketts.
The Iranian nuclear threat is believed to be at the top of the agenda of talks between Barak and British officials.
According to the Guardian report, the British Ministry of Defense believes the US may have intensified plans for targeted-missile strikes of Iranian nuclear targets.
The newspaper quoted British officials as saying that the UK would help the US in such a mission.
Britain is reportedly examining locations for mobilizing its Royal Navy ships and submarines to assist a possible American aerial and naval campaign against Iran.
Washington could also ask London for permission to use the British island of Diego Garcia, in the Indian Ocean, as a base of operations.” Read more.

It can go through 20 feet of solid concrete. And the rationale at the time was deep concerns with Israeli transfers of military technology to China. That issue was largely resolved by 2007. And in a secret letter from President Bush to Prime Minister Olmert, Bush agreed to sell the bunker busters. But that sale was then deferred two years into what became the Obama administration. And then Obama, very early in his administration, approved the transfer of 55 out of 100 that had – Bush had agreed to sell Israel in 2009.” Read more.
Iran’s Nuclear Activity Under Scrutiny as Evidence of Weapons Threat Emerges
By Julian Borger – “A report by the UN’s nuclear watchdog due to be circulated around the world next week will provide fresh evidence of a possible Iranian nuclear weapons programme, bringing the Middle East a step closer to a devastating new conflict, say diplomats.
The report by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is the latest of a series of quarterly bulletins on Iran’s activities, but this one will contain an unprecedented level of detail on research and experiments carried out in Iran in recent years, which western officials allege could only be for the design and development of a nuclear warhead. ‘This will be a game-changer in the Iranian nuclear dossier,’ a western official predicted. ‘It is going to be hard for even Moscow or Beijing to downplay its significance.’
The key passage of the ‘safeguards report’ will be a summary of all the evidence collected over the years by UN weapons inspectors, including a substantial amount of hitherto unpublished data pointing to work in the past seven years.
Western officials say Iranian work up to 2003 involved research and engineering, including the production of some prototype components of a warhead. From 2004, alarmed by the invasion of neighbouring Iraq, those officials say Iranian technicians pursued only design work and computer modelling to reduce the chances of being detected.” Read more.

UNESCO Granted Palestine Full Membership Even As PA Fell Woefully Short of UNESCO’s Own Basic Education Standards

By Roni Shaked – “UNESCO decided to grant the Palestinian Authority full membership despite the fact that it does not meet the basic educational requirements outlined in the organization’s codex, Yedioth Ahronoth reported Wednesday.
The United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization has clear prerequisites which every nation must meet before it is accepted into its ranks, such as: Do its textbooks recognize certain nations and religions, do they include anti-Semitic or racist references etc. The PA, it seems, is not exactly up to par.
A study by the Institute for Monitoring Peace and Cultural Tolerance in School Education (IMPACT-SE) found that Palestinian textbooks are far from meeting the requirements.
The report, which examined 117 Palestinian textbooks, was commissioned before the Palestinians filed their UNESCO application.
The report stresses the fact the Palestinian textbooks and maps are largely devoid of any reference to Israel, geographic or otherwise.
IMPACT-SE also found that many of the Palestinian schoolbooks glorify jihad (‘holy war’), death and acts of violence, predominantly against Jews.
‘Presenting Israel as the ‘ultimate evil,’ preaching violence and war and omitting any reference to peaceful collaborations does not coincide with UNESCO’s principles,’ Dr. Eldad Pardo of the Hebrew University, who heads IMPACT-SE, said.” Read more.
“We just want to get Israeli’s. I want to kill them” – The manipulation of innocents is nothing new for Hamas and its ilk. Each summer, Hamas, along with fellow terrorist groups Islamic Jihad and the Al-Aqsa Martyr’s Brigade, operates camps that indoctrinate scores of Palestinian children in the ways of jihad and Jew-hatred. The campers, some of whom are as young as 8 and 9 years old, are taught military tactics as well as the finer points of suicide attacks. The PA also militarizes Palestinian children through government-run television programming. In one fictitious music video that has run continually over the past few years on PA TV, a young Palestinian boy is shown heading to ‘shahada,’ or martyrdom. Scenes of his death are accompanied by selections from his suicide letter, such as, ‘How sweet is shahada…be joyous over my blood, and do not cry for me.’ Other PA music videos show children defacing Jewish symbols, such as the Menorah, and throwing stones at Israeli soldiers while chanting, ‘You will not be saved, oh Zionist.’ This widespread indoctrination of young Muslims calls to mind an Arabic saying, Al-ilm fi al-sghirar kanaqshi fi al-hajar. Translated into English, it means, ‘An education in one’s youth is like engraving into a stone.'” Read more.
