Christians Begin to Flee Egypt
By Ryan Jones – “A growing number of Egypt’s 8-10 million Coptic Christians are looking for a way to get out as Islamists increasingly take advantage of the nationalist revolution that toppled long-standing dictator Hosni Mubarak in February.
Egypt Daily News reported on Tuesday that ‘lawyers who specialize in working with Coptic Egyptians…say that in the past few weeks they have received hundreds of calls from Copts wanting to leave Egypt.’
‘They are insisting on leaving Egypt because the risks of staying here are too great,’ Naguib Gabriel, a Coptic human rights lawyer, told Egypt Daily News. ‘Many Christians are afraid of the future because of the fanatics in the mosques.'” Read more.
Sorting Out End-Time Theologies – Dr. Michael Brown Interviews Joel Richardson
Dr. Michael Brown: “I am not interested in speculation but I am very interested in information, and we need to understand what is happening in the Muslim world and how, perhaps, what is happening in the Muslim world ties in with what is happening in our neck of the woods and what ties in, perhaps, with what’s even written in Scripture.” Downoad the MP3 here.
“Meet Joel Richardson, and hear his perspective on the importance of the Middle East, Israel, and Islam in the unfolding of the end times events! Could the Islamic “messiah” be the antichrist? In the second hour, Dr. Brown sifts through different end-time theologies!
Hour 1: Dr. Brown’s Bottom Line: There is a redeemer. He will come and establish His kingdom on the earth, and every knee will bow to Him, every tongue will recognize that He is Lord. And He is not the one that the Muslims call “the redeemer,” He’s the one they wrongly call “Esau,” rejecting the Son of God. He will come, and Muslim knees will bow, Muslim tongues will confess that Jesus is Lord. Let’s pray that God will hasten that day!
Hour 2: Dr. Brown’s Bottom Line: God will keep His promises to Israel, and they will be literally fulfilled. God wants us to be living in light of the return of Jesus; He will appear, and we will become like Him, and we will be with Him forever. How, then, should we live today? Let us live righteous, holy, and godly lives, as we look forward to and hasten the day of His appearing.” Link: The Line of Fire Radio.
Former Muslim Testifies ‘Muslims Are Taught to Hate America’, 9/11 Senate Hearing Descends Into Shouting Match
“A hearing on homeland security descended into a heated and angry dispute after an Arab-American activist testified that she was taught as a youngster to ‘hate Jews’ and ‘hate America’.
The debate over Islamic terror turned into a shouting match as Nonie Darwish, director of Former Muslims United, spoke at the State Senate committee meeting in New York.
One senator gripped a Koran in his and accused the human rights activist of spreading ‘hate and poison’ at the hearing held to study how vulnerable New York City is to another act of terror ten years after September 11.
‘Check what’s going on, it’s not a secret’ said Ms Darwish, who was educated in Egypt and came to the U.S. in 1978.
‘The education of Arab children is to make killing of certain groups of people not only good, it’s holy,’ she said.” Read more.
Haaretz WikiLeaks Exclusive ‘Hezbollah Expected to Launch 100 Missiles a Day at Tel Aviv’
By Yossi Melman – “Israel expects the next war against Hezbollah will last two months, during which 24,000 to 36,000 rockets and missiles are expected to be launched at Israel − about 6,000 of them aimed at Tel Aviv, Wikileaks documents reveal.
Telegrams sent from the U.S. Embassy summing up talks between American and Israeli officials in November 2009 cite a Mossad official as saying Hezbollah is expected to launch 400-600 missiles at Israel a day − 100 of which will be aimed at Tel Aviv, over the course of two months.” Read more.
Destroying One Koran vs. Destroying Many Christians
By Raymond Ibrahim – “The now infamous Koran burning by Florida pastor Terry Jones has created hysteria in the Muslim world. In Afghanistan alone, some twenty people, including U.N. workers, have been killed and beheaded to screams of ‘Allahu Akbar!’ Western leaders around the globe—including Obama and members of Congress—have unequivocally condemned Jones’ actions (without bothering to point out that freedom of expression is a prized American liberty). Many are even blaming the deaths in Afghanistan directly on Jones; Bill O’Reilley says he has ‘blood on his hands.’
Yet, as Western leaders rush to profess their abhorrence at what one American did to one inanimate book, let’s take a quick look at what many Muslims are doing to many living and breathing Christians around the Islamic world—to virtually no media coverage or Western condemnation:” Read more.
At Least 11 Dead in Massacre at Rio de Janeiro School, Killer Said To Have ‘Gotten Closer to Islam’ Recently
“RIO DE JANEIRO — At least 11 people, mostly children, died Thursday and more that 15 were wounded when an armed man attacked a school in Realengo in the poor suburbs of Rio de Janeiro…
Police Col. Djalma Beltrami said the killer used two handguns and a lot of ammunition. The suspect left behind a letter, in which he anticipated committing suicide after the attack. Beltrami, however, gave no details of any possible motive.
Beltrami described the letter as ‘the words of a person who no longer believes in anything, full of sentences that made no sense and references to Islamic fundamentalism.’
Roselane de Oliveira, a sister of the attacker, told Rio de Janeiro radio station Band News that the young man ‘was very strange.’…
In recent months, she said, he appeared to have got closer to Islam.” Read more.
Revelation 13: A Commentary
By ICA
Many Christians today can be eschatologically myopic. This is particularly true for many of us who live comfortably in the West, working comfortable jobs and making enough money to enjoy a fairly comfortable living while Christians in other parts of the world, especially the Middle East, North Africa and parts of Asia where Islam is the dominant religion, live under the constant threat of persecution and even death simply because of the very fact that they are Christian. According to the World Evangelical Alliance, over 200 million Christians in at least 60 countries are denied fundamental human rights solely because of their faith. David B. Barrett, Todd M. Johnson, and Peter F. Crossing in their 2009 report in the International Bulletin of Missionary Research (Vol. 33, No. 1: 32) estimate that approximately 176,000 Christians were martyred between mid-2008 to mid-2009. This, according to the authors, compares to 160,000 martyrs in mid-2000 and 34,400 at the beginning of the 20th century [1]. And it’s getting worse.
I believe that we are in the last of the last days and are being plunged into a time that Christ described as “great tribulation” in Matthew 24. I do not believe, however, in a seven-year-tribulation nor do I believe that we, at any imminent moment, will be whisked away in a secret rapture to avoid any and all persecution that may be coming to our shores, as much as I would love for that to be the case (read here to find out where Paul and John place the rapture of the Church in Scripture, and here to find out what the Church is according to Jesus).
As the end of the age approaches, the picture of radical Islam and its role in the Last Days is becoming increasingly clear (cf. Daniel 12:4), and just as our Christian brothers and sisters on the other side of the world are today being persecuted, imprisoned, tortured, shot, blown up and beheaded for the faith of Jesus, I believe that we, too, will continue to witness all that is taking place. As such, I hereby present to you a commentary on Revelation 13 for your consideration that I believe reveals to us the time in which we are now living today, and the time that will soon be upon us.
Muslims Attack Christian in Egypt, Cut Off His Ear
“(AINA) — A group of Muslims attacked Ayman Anwar Mitri, a 45 year old Christian Coptic man in the Upper Egyptian town of Qena, cutting off his ear. The Muslims claimed they were applying Sharia law because Mr. Mitri allegedly had an illicit affair with a Muslim woman. The Muslims called the police and told them ‘We have applied the law of Allah, now come and apply your law,’ according to Mr. Mitri in an interview for the Egyptian Human Rights Organization.
Mr. Mitri, a low grade administrator at a secondary school, from elHasweya, in Qena, 492 KM from Cairo, had rented his flat to two Muslim sisters, Abeer and Sabrin Saif Al-Nasr, through an agent. After nine months he learned the sisters had been indicted for prostitution, so he asked them to leave and they did.
On Sunday, March 20 Mr. Mitri was informed by a friend via a phone call at 4 AM that the flat where the Muslim sisters lived was on fire; he went to the flat. While waiting in the torched flat a Muslim named Alaa el Sunni came and berated him for renting his flat to prostitutes. ‘I tried to calm him down,’ said Mr. Mitri, ‘and told him I knew nothing about the two women since they came through an agent.’ Alaa suggested they would go somewhere quiet to clear the misunderstanding. They went to the flat of Mr. Mitri’s friend Khaled, a policeman, where 12 Muslims were waiting for him. They started beating him and saying ‘We will teach you a lesson, Christian’…” Read more.
Who Dill Defend Christians in Egypt?
By GEOFFREY P. JOHNSTON – “… During last winter’s people power demonstrations in Tahrir Square, the epicentre of the democratic uprising, Christians and Muslims peacefully coexisted as they demanded the end of Mubarak’s 30 year dictatorial reign.
Since then, the promise of Christian-Muslim unity has given way to religiously-motivated attacks on Egypt’s large Coptic Christian community, which is estimated to have ten million members…
For decades, the Egyptian government has openly persecuted Christians. For example, says Bashir, the country’s security services have interfered in Coptic affairs, obstructing the basic maintenance of churches and blocking building permits for new churches.
Islamic terrorists are an even greater threat to Coptic Christians.
In the aftermath of the bloody New Year’s Day bombing of a Coptic church at Alexandria, Egypt, which killed 23 people, Canada’s Coptic community, which has itself been threatened with violence by al Qaida, publicly demanded that Egypt protect their co-religionists.
‘Unfortunately, the situation is quickly getting worse,’ says a Canadian Coptic activist, who cannot be identified in order to protect loved ones still living in Egypt.” Read more.
