Neo-Ottomanism Rising: Turkey’s Regional Influence Is Growing In Libya, Sudan And Beyond

The prophet Ezekiel 2,600 years ago foresaw a war that would take place just prior to the Second Coming of Christ, one that would end with Yahweh Himself physically intervening against the invading armies and changing world history forever. According to Ezekiel, Turkey would be at the forefront of a coalition of nations that would come against Israel, with Iran from the east and Libya & Sudan from the west mentioned by name specifically as nations that would march in lockstep with Turkey’s lead. Is it just some astounding coincidence that, more than two millennia later, the very nations singled out by the prophet Ezekiel now openly stand in virulent opposition against a re-establish Israel? Is it a freakish happenstance that the very nation singled out by Ezekiel as leading this coalition is today the very nation that is both exercising significant political & military influence of the nations prophesied to be with them and is openly calling upon the surrounding nations to unite against Israel? In the world of Bible prophecy, my friends, there are no coincidences …

The New Arab – Turkey And Libya Strengthens Ties – “Turkey’s role in Libya has undergone a remarkable transformation over the last 14 years. Back in 2011, Ankara, a NATO member, initially rejected a military intervention, offering mediation instead between the then-Gaddafi government and rebels.

Two months later, it joined the military campaign in support of the rebels, eventually toppling the Gaddafi government. By September 2011, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, then prime minister, landed in Tripoli to tell Libyans that Turkey stands with them as brothers.

By 2021, he said that ‘Turkey’s success in Libya, both diplomatically and militarily, has led to a reshuffling of the cards – not only in the Mediterranean, but across the world’. His assessment proved prescient.

Today, Ankara is no longer the hesitant regional power it once was, but a de facto regional superpower, outfoxing nearly all others, including major international actors who, back in 2011, poured political capital and military resources into Libya in an attempt to remould the country to their liking.

Turkey today not only dominates the political scene in the fractured country, but also wields decisive influence over its future …

Its role as guarantor of a recent peace deal between the Radaa militia and the Government of National Unity (GNU), averting clashes in Tripoli, underscores this reality. As Libyan expert Hafed Al-Ghwell, a senior fellow at Johns Hopkins University, told The New Arab, ‘nothing happens today in Libya without Turkiye‘ …

Today, Turkey controls military bases, enforces binding security agreements, wields a controversial maritime memorandum of understanding, and secures lucrative economic contracts – cementing its influence across western Libya.

With Western powers fractured and regional rivals hesitant, Ankara has become Tripoli’s indispensable partner.” Read more.

Turkey And Sudan: A Growing Alliance – “As in Libya in 2019, foreign powers, including Turkey, have intervened in Sudan to support their local allies with weapons and mercenaries… Turkey’s involvement in Sudan underscores its ambition to expand its influence in East Africa and the Red Sea region… Following the outbreak of the war in April 2023, President Erdoğan received General al-Burhan at his palace in Ankara in September 2023, and the two held a closed-door meeting in New York one year later in 2024. After the second meeting, Erdoğan remarked, ‘Türkiye’s relations with Sudan are developing with each passing day, and the solidarity between the two countries will continue to grow stronger.’ … Turkey’s involvement in Sudan aligns with Ankara’s broader regional strategy, as demonstrated by its interventions in Libya …” Read more.

A Neo-Ottoman Crescent Is Rising As The Shi’ite Crescent Crumbles – “It seems that the term ‘total victory’ does not apply to the Middle East, because in this region one never truly wins – one merely replaces adversaries. For the first time in decades, Israel has managed to deliver a crushing blow to the Shi’ite axis led by Iran. The Shi’ite Crescent, stretching from Tehran through Baghdad and Damascus to Beirut, has been dismantled. This is a remarkable strategic achievement, credited to Israel’s unprecedented boldness, ingenuity, and creativity on the battlefield. Yet in the Middle East, every vacuum fills quickly. The collapse of the Iranian threat is now giving way to a new one, equally deep but far more sophisticated and subtle – the neo-Ottomanism of the Muslim Brotherhood, led by Turkey and Qatar… even as Hamas is crumbling in Gaza, it may well be reborn in new forms, sustained by the Brotherhood network that surrounds it. Already now, with the fighting in Gaza subsiding, we see Ankara and Doha’s fingerprints on nearly every aspect of the ‘day after.’Read more.

Turkey: President Erdoğan, His Senior Officials And His Controlled Media Are ALL Talking About Attacking Israel Soon

10/20/2025 1 comment

An excellent article was published today by the cofounder and president of the Middle East Media Research Institute, Yigal Carmon. “Since Hamas committed its massacre in Israel on October 7, 2023, the rhetoric of Erdoğan, his senior officials, and his media, which have always been hostile to Israel, have grown more alarming, suggesting the possibility of an impending Turkish attack on Israel.” I encourage everyone to read it in full. Those with eyes to see will perceive, many unknowingly, the prophetic trajectory where Turkey and the Islamic world are headed as we speak: Jerusalem

By Yigal Carmon, MEMRI – “At a pro-Palestine rally in Istanbul on October 28, 2023, two weeks after Hamas’ October 7 attack, in the context of discussing Israel, President Erdoğan quoted a popular song whose lyrics he has used in the past to presage Turkish military operations in Iraq and Syria, saying: ‘We may come suddenly one night.'[4] A few weeks later, on November 15, he said: ‘Oh Israel; you have an atom bomb, a nuclear bomb – and you are threatening [others] with it. We know this. And now the moment of your death is coming. Have as many nuclear bombs as you want. Have whatever you want. You’re a goner.'[5] On July 28, 2024, referring to Turkish military operations in other countries, President Erdoğan said: ‘Just as we entered [Nagorno] Karabakh, and just as we entered Libya, we will do something similar to [Israel]. There is no [reason] not to.'[6]

… On December 30, 2024, in the weeks following the takeover of Damascus, Ahmet Yiğit Yıldırım, leader of the Ülkü Ocakları (‘Idealist Hearths’) also known as the Bozkurtlar (‘Grey Wolves’), an organization that has for years supported the Turkish military on the battlefields of Syria and Azerbaijan,[8] said: ‘We all saw the reflection in Syria of our leader’s words ‘we may come suddenly one night.’ We all saw together in Syria what could happen in one night. And so, Turkey is no longer the old Turkey… After Damascus is stabilized and assured, inshallah, we will all see that the conquest of Jerusalem is near.'[9] …

In the meantime, Erdoğan is preparing the Turkish public with justifications for such an attack. On July 30, 2024, amid Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon, he said: ‘Who can guarantee that those who today have their eye on Lebanon will not tomorrow extend their filthy hands elsewhere?'[10] On October 1, he warned that Israeli policies threaten Turkey specifically: ‘Israel’s aggression also includes Turkey.'[11] On June 18, 2025, he connected this aggressive stance to Ottoman history by saying: ‘We are following very closely Israel’s terror attacks on Iran… The victorious army of the Ottoman State had a principle: ‘If you desire peace, be prepared for war.”[12] On June 24, he said: ‘Global actors must take effective measures to end Israel’s madness.'[13] In the same month he sought to discourage other countries from supplying Israel, saying: ‘Those countries that are giving Israel arms and munitions should give up being a partner in this crime.'[14] On July 4, he said: ‘Israel’s policies threaten the tranquility and stability of our region.'[15] His government accuses Israel of genocide in Gaza,[16] has called a raid on a flotilla ‘piracy,'[17] and on August 8, Turkish Communications Minister Burhanettin Duran said: ‘The conscience of the world is strong enough to stop and defeat Israel.'[18]

Erdoğan is not content with rhetoric but is taking concrete action against Israel. Turkey was Israel’s fifth-largest supplier in 2024 until in May of that year it ended all exports to and imports from the country.[19] In August 2025, Turkey banned Israeli vessels from its ports, forbade Turkish ships from entering Israeli ports, and restricted its airspace to Israeli aircraft.[20] His government has allowed Iranian guns and money to move through Istanbul to the Houthis in Yemen.[21] It is taking steps to prepare for war with Israel: Following the 12-day war between Israel and Iran in June of this year, the Turkish intelligence agency MİT released a 58-page report that, among other things, recommends the strengthening of Turkish air defense, the further development of the country’s domestic arms industry, and the construction of shelters in major Turkish cities.[22] Based on these recommendations, planning has begun for the construction of long-term shelters in all of Turkey’s 81 provinces.[23] The country also unveiled over the summer powerful new Gazap (‘Wrath’) and Hayalet (‘Ghost’) bunker-busters that it has developed and manufactured.[24]…

Turkish media, which Erdoğan’s government tightly controls,[25] also signal the government’s increasingly hostile position toward Israel by discussing concrete military considerations. GZT.com, which describes itself as Turkey’s largest digital media brand and on whose program Erdoğan himself has appeared,[26] released on June 24, 2025, a video titled ‘Israel’s Soft Underbelly: What Regions, If Struck, Will Cause Israel To Falter?’ The video lists targets in Israel – the Urim, Tel Nof, and Netafim bases – allegedly housing the construction of the Arrow missile defense system, Unit 8200, tank and artillery munitions depots, and ‘critical elements’ like F-15s, special operations teams, and long-range drones. It specifically lists the Sdot Micha, whose existence is not formally acknowledged, as supposedly the site where nuclear warheads are placed on Eriha missiles, saying that ‘If [Sdot Micha] were struck, Israel’s deterrence could be shaken.’ [27] …

Ibrahim Karagül is a Turkish journalist regularly described as pro-government who, from 2012 through the end of 2020, was editor-in-chief of the pro-government Yeni Şafak daily and can be seen in many photos with Erdoğan, including those taken inside Erdoğan’s private plane. Karagül’s rhetoric on Israel over the past year has been startling.

On January 13, 2025, he wrote: ‘We must sever the hand of Israel, which extends toward our borders… Israel should be afraid.'[28] On April 7: ‘The Turkey-Israel War is now unavoidable… [Israel] will kneel before Turkey… Israel has become an existential threat for Turkey… Within one to three years there will be such a war in this region.”[29] On April 23: ‘The Western power that gave Israel immunity has dispersed… Turkey is the owner and heir of Israel and will claim its right to that land… Let Israel do what it will; let it plan what agitations it will, it cannot neither stop nor alter the direction of this great change of history… These vain flailings will strike the wall of Turkey and disperse. Turkey will be on all of Israel’s borders, and if necessary it will imprison it in its home… Israel’s most correct preference may be to kneel in front of Turkey and seek refuge in it. This is the place where [all] this is leading. The Israelis will decide whether this [process] is bloody or bloodless.'[30]” Read more.

Bombs, Bullets, Beheadings: Syrian Druze And Christians Are Being Slaughtered By HTS Terrorists (As The World Does Nothing)

And the world says nothing … until Israel decides to do something about it. But did they express support for Israel effort’s to intervene and prevent ethnic cleansing? Of course not. They condemn it. The Trump Administration’s removal of the $10 million bounty on self-imposed Syrian leader, terrorist Ahmed Hussein al-Sharaa (Abu Mohammad al-Julani), and the removal of HTS from the list of Foreign Terrorist Organizations was ill-advised and myopic. Even terrorists in smiles and in suits need to be recognized not as a legitimate government, but as the murderers they are. Give terrorism one inch and it’ll paint a mile in someone else’s blood …

HTS Terrorists Burn Church, Destroy Homes In New Wave Of Violence Against Syrian Christians And Druze – “As alarming sectarian violence swept through Syria in the third week of July, Christian communities in the region experienced a new wave of persecution. Attacks on the country’s Christian, Druze and Alawite communities were perpetrated mainly by Islamist jihadists.

The southern district of Sweida, a predominantly Druze region with a substantial Christian population, has witnessed horrific attacks causing deaths and injuries to civilians, religious officials, and on churches and other buildings the week of July 13. These minorities are experiencing a growing deep distrust towards the Islamist-led government now in power in Damascus, a one-time al-Qaida affiliate.

The Greek Melkite Church of St. Michael in the Sweida village of Al-Sura was attacked and set ablaze by unknown assailants, according to witness accounts made to the pontifical charity Aid to the Church in Need on July 15.

Much of the recent atrocities have been leveled against the Druze community, where the death toll has exceeded 600 people, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights. The escalating violence prompted neighboring Israel to intervene, in response to calls made by its own Druze community to help.

Islamist militants view the Druze — whose religion contains elements of Hinduism, Islam, Christianity and Judaism — as heretics.

The Druze spiritual leader Sheikh Hikmat el-Hijri has consistently kept the Syrian government from entering Sweida and demanded ‘international protection,’ which observers understand as Israeli protection.

In another recorded incident, 38 homes belonging to Christian families were destroyed by fire, leaving numerous families homeless, according to ACN. As a result, some 70 people were forced to take refuge in a church hall in Shahba, where they are fearful, living in precarious circumstances.

‘This community has lost everything,’ one person told ACN. ‘They had very little to begin with — they were already among the poorest in the region — and now they have nothing left.’

‘The militias left Sweida City after killing scores of people in their homes and cars,’ one Christian told OSV News via Signal chat.

‘There are now threats that they will return, and we are very afraid. My family has packed our bags and we want to flee, but we don’t know where to,’ the man said …” Read more.

The Jerusalem Post: Turkey Aims To Activate The Syrian T4 Air Base – “Turkey wants to become Syria’s air defense provider, in part by establishing a presence at the T4 base, which was active during Assad’s regime. The T4 base has been the target of several Israeli airstrikes in Syria in recent weeks. On Monday, an Israeli defence official told reporters that the purpose of these strikes was to signal to Syrian leader Ahmed al-Sharaa that Israel will not allow any reduction in its freedom of action in Syrian airspace. According to the Western intelligence source, Turkey intends to convert the T4 base into a drone facility … the base will help Turkey establish air dominance in the region …” Read more.

Israel Destroys Assad-Era Military Assets Across Syria, Sends Warning To Turkey – “The Israeli air force operated overnight between Wednesday and Thursday across Syria to prevent the use of military bases and facilities left in the country from the Assad regime era… The targets attacked included the T4 military airport near Homs, the military airport in Hama, and military infrastructure in the Damascus area… the strikes are also a signal to Turkey… ‘We will not allow you to establish a presence in Syria.’ … Defense Minister Israel Katz said on Thursday that he warned Syrian leader Al-Joulani … Foreign Minister Gidon Sa’ar, during an official visit to Paris, said Turkey is playing a negative role in Syria, Lebanon, and other regional countries. ‘They are doing everything to turn Syria into a Turkish protectorate’… Turkey has so far remained silent, preferring not to engage in a public confrontation with Israel. However, it is believed that despite Israeli operations, Erdogan’s attempts to establish a foothold in Syria are likely to continue …” Read more.

Can Israel Pivot To Confront Turkey While Managing Other Wars? – “It increasingly appears that Israel would like to preempt any attempt by Turkey to put down roots in Syria… The big question is whether Israel wants to get involved in an open-ended campaign in Syria that not only involves potential tension with Ankara but also clashes with Syrians near the border. The clashes are increasing. Syria will likely wait to respond, but the clashes may encourage it to demand more help from Ankara. The Israeli strikes may not have the desired effect because the more Syria feels vulnerable, the more it may need Turkey… Israel’s attempt to preempt threats, rather than manage them, seems to guide its Syria and Turkey policy today. However, Israel may find that it has traded one enemy in Syria for another. Iran left Syria after the Assad regime fell, which was good news. Instead of a peace dividend, however, it appears Israel is now being drawn into a new conflict…” Read more.

Greek City Times – Syrian Christians Beheaded, Shot, Threatened – “Samaan Satme and Helena Khashouf from the village al-Jamasliyye in Syria’s Homs province were brutally murdered in their home. Although the murder was initially reported as a burglary gone wrong, it later emerged that Samaan was beheaded and Helena shot, indicating that there were other motives… According to local reports, ‘random murders’ in Homs and the coast continue, often fitting the pattern of assailants entering a house to murder the victims. Syrian Rebel Leader Al-Jolani Vows To Implement Sharia Law And Use Force If Necessary – “A foundational ministry should hold to account those who violate public moral rules. We disagreed on who would have authority on this matter. We find it appropriate for the morality police to be part of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The Ministry of Interior will have a morality police led by clerics and mullahs. People will be told to obey sharia without using sticks. If we move with a stick while calling for sharia this shows our inability to convey sharia to people. Islam is the true religion. It is already strong. Whoever stands against Islam with a weapon, then Islam will resort to weapons. We will respond with force to those who try to prevent us from implementing sharia. This jihad is obligatory for this reason.” Watch video.

Syria’s Christians: ‘We Have No Reason to Trust Al-Jolani’ – “In the middle of the night on Monday, Elias, a 21-year-old Syrian Christian living in Berlin, received a voice message from his mother in Damascus. She was weeping. ‘If anything happens to us, do not come back to Syria,’ she said … while Syrians are collectively celebrating the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s sadistic regime, Syrian Christians are nervous about their future in the region. The Islamist rebels in Syria have a history of persecuting Syrian Christians. Elias, who asked that we use a pseudonym to protect his family, told The Free Press that he has seen some truly horrific acts by the rebels. In 2014, when he was still a child, he went to a family friend’s house to console them after their son was kidnapped by Islamist rebels from a Christian area. While they were there, their son’s severed head was delivered in a box — his cross necklace stuffed in his mouth… ‘I’m only 21 years old,’ Elias said. ‘But I’ve already buried 12 friends.’ Not surprisingly, he fears the worst. ‘We have no reason to trust al-Jolani,’ he said. ‘He is a terrorist.'” Read more.

Syrian Islamists Who Overthrew Assad: “We Are Coming For Jerusalem”

Well, that didn’t take long. In mere hours after taking Damascus, “moderate” Islamist fighters from Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) are already showing their true ISIS and Al Qaeda colors by declaring support for Hamas in Gaza and vowing to soon take Jerusalem.

According to some foreign policy experts, Turkey’s Erdogan gains to benefit and is about to get his ‘Leader of the Muslim World’ moment. But with Hezbollah a shell of what it was and Hamas relegated to little more than a band of demoralized guerilla fighters, Shia Iran has become the biggest loser in the region next to Bashar al-Assad in the aftermath of recent events. Their “Axis of Resistance” is in tatters, and they know it. So when it looks like Plan A is no longer a viable option, we can be certain that Shia Iran is already hard at work on a Plan B. Expect Iran to soon be reaching out to both Erdogan in Turkey and HTS leadership in Damascus in an effort to “work together” in advancing “common interests.” As divided a kingdom as it is, the Shia and Sunni sects of Islam still hate one thing more than each other: Israel …

Damascus Is Fallen, Is Fallen: Syrian President Assad Flees Country As Terrorists Overrun Capital After Lightning Blitz

According to the prophets Isaiah and Jeremiah, a time is coming when the city of Damascus will face Divine judgment from the God of Israel. That judgment has not yet seen its fulfillment, but with Damascus now under the control of an Islamist army that is largely comprised of remnants from ISIS, Al Qaeda et al who have vowed to wipe out Jews and Christians, the reason for its impending destruction is coming into focus.

Damascus is not far from Israel. Trying to get as close as it can to its prey, a leopard can conceal itself and its intent before striking, but a leopard can never change its spots. The terrorists who have taken Damascus may rebrand their name and use Western buzz words like “freedom” and “peace” and “justice” in order to dissuade any attacks from the West, but an Islamist beast under a different name is still an Islamist beast. What the fall of Damascus entails for Israel and any remaining Christian communities in Syria for the immediate future, well, that remains to be seen. If history is any indication, however, it will not be long before these comouflaged animals begin to show their true colors

Israel National News – “The rebel forces in Syria announced on Sunday morning morning that ‘the free Syrian people have toppled the regime of Bashar Al-Assad.’

Earlier, the rebels had reached ‘beyond enemy lines’ in the Syrian capital, Damascus, and had begun searching for President Bashar Al-Assad.

The rebels stated that they had freed prisoners from the Saydnaya military prison on the outskirts of the Syrian. Two sources from the rebel forces told Reuters that there appeared to be no Syrian army deployment in the city. Al Jazeera reported that officers and security officials withdrew from the Ministry of Defense headquarters in Damascus.

Meanwhile, two senior Syrian officers told Reuters that President Bashar al-Assad had left Damascus for an unknown destination. According to reports in Syria, Assad’s plane took off from the country shortly after the rebels took over the capital, but the plane later disappeared from radar and at this point it is unclear what happened to it.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, an opposition organization based in London, told the AFP news agency that the Syrian army and security forces had withdrawn from Damascus International Airport following the rebels’ advance toward the capital.

Syrian Prime Minister Mohammad Razi Al-Jalali made a special statement following the toppling of the Assad regime in which he said that his government is ready to cooperate with any leadership chosen by the Syrian people.” Read more.
