‘We Haven’t Seen This Before’: USGS Issues Rare Earthquake Warning For Oklahoma

By Becky Oskin, LiveScience – “Mile for mile, there are almost as many earthquakes rattling Oklahoma as California this year. This major increase in seismic shaking led to a rare earthquake warning today (May 5) from the U.S. Geological Survey and the Oklahoma Geological Survey.

In a joint statement, the agencies said the risk of a damaging earthquake— one larger than magnitude 5.0 — has significantly increased in central Oklahoma.

Geologists don’t know when or where the state’s next big earthquake will strike, nor will they put a number on the increased risk. ‘We haven’t seen this before in Oklahoma, so we had some concerns about putting a specific number on the chances of it,’ Robert Williams, a research geophysicist with the USGS Earthquake Hazards Program in Golden, Colorado, told Live Science. ‘But we know from other cases around the world that if you have an increasing number of small earthquakes, the chances of a larger one will go up.’ [Watch 2500+ Oklahoma Earthquakes Since 2012 (Video)]

That’s why earthquakes of magnitude 5 and larger are more frequent in states such as California and Alaska, where thousands of smaller temblors hit every year.

This is the first time the USGS has issued an earthquake warning for a state east of the Rockies, Williams said. Such seismic hazard assessments are more typically issued for Western states following large quakes, to warn residents of the risk of damaging aftershocks, he said.

The geological agencies took action after the rate of earthquakes in Oklahoma outpaced that of even California for the first few months of 2014. (California regained the lead in April.)

‘The rate of earthquakes increased dramatically in March and April,’ Williams said. ‘That alerted us to examine this further and put out this advisory statement.'” Read more.

400,000 In Danger Of Human Rights Violations As Sharia Law Infects A New Corner Of The World

Get your skis shined up, grab a stick of juicy fruit. Articles like this sometimes make me wonder if the “he” of Daniel 7:25 can also be rightly understood as an “it” in a non-anthropomorphic sense as translated in Young’s Literal Translation, similar to how the Beast of Revelation 13:11-18 is translated as a “he” in some texts, but as an “it” in some others. Though it may not burn as many calories as the Giant Slalom, it’s certainly something good to chew on …

Sharia will be implemented in three phases, starting last week and being completed in two years. Punishments to take effect begin with fines or jail time (missing Friday prayers, spreading other religions), continue on to whipping and amputations (theft, alcohol), and culminate with the death penalty (adultery, insulting Mohammed or the Koran).

Oh – and those who question or oppose the government’s actions and speak freely about it on social media?

What about the 20% of the population who are non-Muslim, including Christians and Buddhists?

An Islamic Religious Council official said that they ‘can continue to practice their own religions’ and are protected under the law, as ‘there is no compulsion in Islam.’ (Sorry, but if this were true, there would be no need for Rescue Christians.)

But the International Council of Jurists is wary of this statement – nothing in the new law speaks about a different treatment of non-Muslims. In addition, the current situation in countries like Pakistan, Syria, and Nigeria is cause for concern regarding the ultimate fate of anyone, regardless of religion, in a Muslim-dominated country.

Children were instructed to shoot “all the Jews,” on the weekly Hamas children’s program Tomorrow’s Pioneers this week. The young Hamas TV host Rawan talks to a young girl in the studio named Tulin, who tells her she wants to be a police officer when she grows up. The child host directs her to the conclusion that as a police officer she would shoot “all the Jews.”

Child host (Rawan): “Tulin, why do you want to be a police officer? Like who?”
Girl (Tulin): “Like my uncle.” …
Child host: “OK, so what does a policeman do?”

By Brian Pellot, Charisma News – “Secretary of State John Kerry should cite 16 countries for severe violations of religious freedom, the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom recommended Wednesday in its 15th annual report.

The State Department’s ‘Countries of Particular Concern’ list has remained static since 2006, when eight countries — Burma, China, Eritrea, Iran, North Korea, Saudi Arabia, Sudan and Uzbekistan — were designated as CPCs.

USCIRF, an independent watchdog panel created by Congress to review international religious freedom conditions, criticized the government’s unchanged list of CPCs and sanctions against them, claiming such measures have ‘provided little incentive for CPC-designated governments to reduce or halt egregious violations of religious freedom.’

‘The past 10 years have seen a worsening of the already-poor religious freedom environment in Pakistan, a continued dearth of religious freedom in Turkmenistan, backsliding in Vietnam, rising violations in Egypt before and after the Arab Spring, and Syria’s descent into a sectarian civil war with all sides perpetrating egregious religious freedom violations. Yet no new countries have been added to the State Department’s CPC list,’ the report states.

USCIRF recommended that the CPC list be expanded to include these countries along with Iraq, Nigeria and Tajikistan. USCIRF’s 2013 report made similar recommendations, with the noteworthy addition this year of Syria.” Read more.

Nigeria: Islamists Abduct 300+ Teenage Girls In Recent Weeks, Names Released Are 90% Christian

Associated Press – “The number of kidnapped schoolgirls missing in Nigeria has risen to 276, up by more than 30 from a previous estimate, police said, adding that the actual number abducted by Islamic extremists on April 14 was more than 300.

Police Commissioner Tanko Lawan said the number of girls and young women who have escaped also has risen, to 53.

He told a news conference Thursday night in Maiduguri, the northeastern capital of Borno state, that the figures keep increasing because students from other schools were brought into one school for final exams last month after all schools in Borno state were shut because of attacks by Islamic extremists. Communications are difficult with the military often cutting cellphone service under a state of emergency and travel made dangerous on roads frequently attacked by the militants.

‘The students were drawn from schools in Izge, Lassa, Ashigashiya and Warabe A. and that is why, after the unfortunate incident, there were various numbers flying around as to the actual number of girls that were taken away,’ Lawan said.

Hundreds of women protested in at least three cities this week to express their outrage that the girls have not been found.

Two bombings in three weeks have also hit the nation’s capital, Abuja.

Reports this week indicated some have been forced into ‘marriage’ with their extremist abductors, who paid a nominal bride price equivalent to $12. Other reports that also could not be verified said some have been taken across borders, to Chad, Cameroon and to an island in Lake Chad. The reports come from parents and legislators who are in touch with villagers who have seen the girls with their abductors.

As the students, aged between 15 and 18, endure a third week of captivity President Goodluck Jonathan referred to them publicly for the first time at a May Day rally on Thursday.” Read more.

France: 150,000 Muslims Gathering To Attend Islamic Congress Descend Into Anti-Semitic Hate Fest

Miller, American Thinker – “In some deep corner of hell, Hitler is smiling.  One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Muslims gathered in Paris to attend the Union of Islamic Organization’s Thirty First Congress. It was advertised as a gathering about immigration, assimilation, and culture, but it soon descended into an anti-Semitic hate fest.

When the ‘Jew’ was cast into the convention’s spotlight, the crowd was whipped into frenzy with as much emotion as Albert Speer could have ignited from his Nazi rallies orchestrated with cascading lights and burning torches. The atrocities in Syria, the bloodbaths in the streets of Cairo, the barbaric behavior of Boko Haram in Nigeria, and all the evil and wanton cruelty in the Islamic world that daily leap out at us from television, print, and the Internet, all of this was explained as being guided by an invisible hand, the Jew.

Hatred is the great unifier of mass movements. Hitler dressed millions of compliant Germans in uniforms and marched them to their deaths to fight the international Jew. He convinced the Germans they were Aryan superman. The ideal version of which was blond, tall, and slim.  So, consider, here was Hitler with dark hair; Goering  who was morbidly obese; and Goebbels who was a dwarf, all  preaching the genetic virtue of the blond, slim, and tall Aryan superman. And the incongruity escaped mass detection because hatred is also the enemy of rational thought.

In Paris, Hani Ramadan (brother of Tariq) took his place in the pantheon of Jew haters while spewing the irrational to an overly enthusiastic audience, who suspended disbelief. Does any rational human being believe that all the evil in the world, all the violence and barbarism in the imploding Islamic world, and all the backwardness of Islam is due to the all powerful Jew, who is clinging to a sliver of land the size of Rhode Island in a region that is one huge cesspool, whose peoples, like those meeting in Paris, are seeking eagerly to return to the seventh century?

Ramadan’s words, like Speer’s torchlight parades, echo manifestations of violence in the streets. Ilan Halimi, in 2006, was the first Jew killed in France since World War II for simply being a Jew. He was grotesquely tortured, beaten, set on fire, and left to die. His killers were Muslims steeped in anti-Semitism. Andrew Hussey, the British cultural biographer and expert on France, investigated Halimi’s murder and found that people in the Muslim neighborhood where he had been held knew where he was. Yet, they chose to do nothing, even finding convenient justification for the kidnapping because Halimi was Jewish.” Read more.

Iran Arrests Converts To Christianity At Easter Service

This is still the position of all the schools of Islamic jurisprudence, both Sunni and Shi’ite. Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi, the most renowned and prominent Muslim cleric in the world, has stated: ‘The Muslim jurists are unanimous that apostates must be punished, yet they differ as to determining the kind of punishment to be inflicted upon them. The majority of them, including the four main schools of jurisprudence (Hanafi, Maliki, Shafi`i, and Hanbali) as well as the other four schools of jurisprudence (the four Shiite schools of Az-Zaidiyyah, Al-Ithna-`ashriyyah, Al-Ja`fariyyah, and Az-Zaheriyyah) agree that apostates must be executed.’ There is only disagreement over whether the law applies only to men, or to women also – some authorities hold that apostate women should not be killed, but only imprisoned in their houses until death. This father clearly believes that a female apostate should be killed.

‘A Number of Christian Converts Arrested at Easter Service,’ Mohabat News, April 28, 2014 (thanks to The Religion of Peace):

Iranian security authorities raided an Easter service in a house-church in southern Tehran, on Friday, April 18, arresting those in attendance.

According to Mohabat News, Human Rights news sources in Iran reported that five of those arrested in the raid are identified as Ehsan Sadeghi, Nazi and Maryam Asadi, Vahid Safi, and Amin Mazloomi.

These reports indicate that plain-clothes security authorities raided Ms. Asadi’s house, where a house-church service was being held. The Authorities were armed and carrying walkie-talkies. They terrified those in the house-church and began searching the house. They eventually transferred all in attendance to an unknown location using two white vans.

Neighbors of Ms. Asadi said that the security authorities were very disrespectful to those in the house-church as well as to the neighbors. They also went on the roof top of the apartment building and broke satellite dishes belonging to other residents of the building.

There are no details available regarding these detainees’ whereabouts currently and efforts of their families to find out about their situation have not been effective.

A large group of Iranian Christians with Islamic backgrounds have been arrested and sentenced to lengthy prison terms in recent years. Numerous Farsi-speaking official Churches have been closed down and banned from any religious activities as well.

Last month, Ahmad Shaheed, UN Special Rapporteur on Iran, released an extensive report on Human Rights violations in Iran. In that report he had warned that Human Rights and basic freedoms of Iranian citizens are widely violated on a regular basis.

Mr. Shaheed also expresses serious concerns over the persecution of Christians who have converted from Islam along with Baha’is, Dervishes and Sunni Muslims.

The European Parliament released a resolution on Iran criticizing the country for discriminating on the basis of ethnicity, gender and religion, including against Baha’is and Christians.

By Rebecca Savastio, Liberty Voice – “Danish psychologist Nicolai Sennels, an expert in working with Muslim youth criminal offenders, has written a new book entitled Among Criminal Muslims. A Psychologist’s Experience from the Copenhagen Municipality, and in an essay supporting the book, he claims that ‘Islam creates monsters.’ A recent study out of Germany supports Sennels’ statement. It found that devout Muslims were more prone to violence than the non-Muslim participants in the study.

Sennels says Islam is different from other religions because the way it is taught brainwashes its youth with violent messages. Parents inflict violence on their children repeatedly, Sennels claims, and at the same time, deliver religious ideology. He says this behavior makes Muslim extremists far more violent than extremists of other religious faiths.

The brainwashing, as Sennels terms it, begins very early on in a child’s life, and religious messages are repeated vigorously along with a heavy dose of physical discipline. It is this combination of pain and reinforcement, Sennels claims, that creates Islamic ‘monsters’ who then feel justified in torturing and killing innocent people.

Sennels points out that parents want to indoctrinate their children into the religion as early as possible so that the kids will remain Muslim instead of looking to another faith—under Sharia law, turning against Islam is a crime punishable by death.

He goes on to point out that Muslim culture lags far behind in the ‘understanding of human development,’ and therefore, the techniques that Westerners would call child abuse are deeply ingrained and normalized among Muslim parents as correct child-rearing strategies.

Sennels says that in Muslim culture, the idea of ‘constructive criticism’ doesn’t exist, and any criticism of Muslim identity will result in extreme anger and quite possibly, physical violence. The Quran itself, Sennels claims, does not allow for the idea of tolerance, and calls for Muslims to separate from non-Muslims and view people of other faiths as inferior. This, in turn breeds hatred, Sennels claims. He explains:

The cultural and psychological cocktail of anger, low self-esteem, victim mentality, a willingness to be blindly guided by outer authorities, and an aggressive and discriminatory view toward non-Muslims, forced upon Muslims through pain, intimidation and mind-numbing repetitions of the Quran, is the reason why Islam creates monsters.

His remarks have stirred up a great deal of controversy, but a large study out of Germany, involving 45,000 teens, seems to support Sennels’ claims. In that study, a strong link between the level of religious Muslim belief and the willingness to participate in violence was revealed.

Notably, the study’s author undertook the project hoping it would prove the opposite outcome. Christian Pfeiffer, a scientist who works at the Criminal Research Institute in Saxony, said that he has been active in opposing any campaign to denigrate Muslims or other foreigners, and he was disappointed by the study results.” Read more.

Sudan: Christian Woman Enslaved For 19 Years By Muslims Is Finally Free

By Mark Ellis, GR – “She was kidnapped in South Sudan before she was even a teenager and forced by her Muslim captor to the North. Subjected to beatings, forced genital mutilation, and commanded to ‘pray like a Muslim,’ she found liberation after 19 painful years.

‘I was captured in 1994 in Gok Machar.  I was still young, not yet a teenager.  Six of us were captured.  Three of us refused to go to the North.  They were killed.  My hands were tied to a horse to pull me along.  We walked all day without rest, and we weren’t treated when we were sick,’ Ayul Aguer told those who worked for her release at Christian Solidarity International (CSI).

 After they arrived at their destination, her new master – a man named Mohammad Jamos, sold two of the remaining three victims, so only Ayul remained as his servant.

‘He did not treat me well,’ she recounts.  ‘He beat me all the time, as m

uch as ten times a day.  He forced me to work, grinding grain, fetching water, cooking, and washing clothes,’ according to her interview with CSI.

One day Mohammad sent her to the market for provisions, but a tragic incident happened. ‘Some Arab boys raped me on the way, and knifed my finger, upper arm and upper thigh.’

Ayul followed Jesus Christ at the time of her capture and attended church, but her captor forbade any outward expression of her faith.

‘Mohammed forced me to pray like a Muslim.  He threatened to kill me if I talked about church.  Once I told him I was going to go to church anyway.  He tied me up outside and left me in the sun all day.  He ordered me to look at the sun.  I couldn’t see for some days after that.  I still get dizzy sometimes,’ she recounts.

Mohammed also forced her to undergo female genital mutilation/cutting (FGC), sometimes referred to as female circumcision.  It is estimated that between 100 million and 140 million girls and women worldwide have received FGC, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. There are more than 3 million girls at risk of having FGC each year.

‘I didn’t want it; it’s not from my culture,’ Ayul says.

A short time later, Ayul was given to another slave, Deng, to be his wife. ‘We had three children, and gave them Arab names.  If I had given them Dinka names, I would have lost my life,’ she says.

Ayul is from the Dinka people group, the largest ethnic tribe in South Sudan, which makes up about 18% of the population.

Ayul was separated from her three children when she was liberated in September, 2013 and returned to her home in South Sudan. ‘I need my children back,’ she says. ‘I also need Deng.  He’s the only one I know.’ Deng also belongs to the Dinka people.

Submission: The 5 Latest Signs Of Britain’s Imminent Demise

When British Prime Minister David Cameron said, ‘I want London to stand alongside Dubai as one of the great capitals of Islamic finance anywhere in the world,’ Britain’s surrender to Sharia became an even more pressing concern, as Cameron will discover that Sharia finance cannot be separated from the rest of Islamic law any more than he could separate a bowl of blood pudding into its constituent parts.

The Derby Telegraph reported last week that ‘churchgoers were left terrified after believing a 52-year-old man who walked into their church ‘dressed like a terrorist’ on Remembrance Sunday ‘might be armed with a bomb.’’

Mohamed Dar didn’t just walk into the church: as he walked in during a service, wearing a bandana that proclaimed ‘Allahu akbar,’ Dar demanded that the congregants ‘turn to Allah.’ He shouted: ‘This is rubbish, you should be preaching Allah, turn to Islam, we send boys of 10 to war.’ One of the assembled Christians recounted: ‘He was dressed like a terrorist, I though he may have a gun or a bomb or some sort of weapon, I was so frightened.’

It is indicative of how much British non-Muslims have learned to put up with this sort of thing that this incident was reported only in one laconic story in the Derby Telegraph, whereas if a Christian had gone into a mosque anywhere in Britain wearing a bandana that said ‘Jesus is Lord’ and had begun shouting, ‘This is rubbish, you should be preaching the Gospel, turn to Christ,’ it would without the slightest doubt have been national and international news, and the subject of numerous earnest BBC chats featuring media-hyped ‘moderates’ such as Maajid Nawaz, Mehdi Hasan, and Mohammed Ansar, all sounding (in harmony) notes of wounded victimhood.

The incident would be taken as an indication of Britain’s deep-seated ‘Islamophobia,’ and dire need to lay in yet more legal insulation against that vile crime. But Mojamed Dar’s little exercise in dawah (Islamic proselytizing)? That’s just life in Britain today.

4. Two women fined for tearing up Qur’an at soccer match

Two fans of the British soccer team Middlesbrough FC, Julie Phillips and Gemma Parkin, were found guilty Thursday of ‘religiously aggravated harassment’ for ripping pages out of the Qur’an at a soccer match. Phillips was fined £300; Parkin £200. This comes just a few months after another British citizen, Mark Stephenson, was prosecuted and fined for tearing up a Qur’an at a soccer match.

If Mark Stephenson, Julie Phillips and Gemma Parkin had torn and thrown pages of the Bible, would they have been found guilty of ‘religiously aggravated harassment’? Or have the British authorities simply taken it upon themselves to prosecute violators of Sharia blasphemy laws? Tearing up a Qur’an is a violation of Islamic law, not British law. Will Muslims be charged with ‘religiously aggravated harassment’ in Britain for their repeated claim that Moses and Jesus were Muslim prophets?” Read more.

Close Shave: Bus-Size Asteroid Buzzes Earth, Comes Closer Than The Moon

Another one closer than the moon. And this one was only discovered a few days ago. Certainly makes you wonder how many are out there that they’ve yet to discover …

By Tariq Malik, Space.com – “A small asteroid about the size of a city bus zipped by Earth at a range closer than the moon early Saturday (May 3), but posed no threat to our planet.

The newly discovered asteroid 2014 HL129 came within 186,000 miles (299,338 kilometers) of Earth when it made its closest approach on Saturday morning, which is close enough to pass between the planet and the orbit of the moon. The average distance between the Earth and moon is about 238,855 miles (384,400 km).

The asteroid is about 25 feet (7.6 meters) wide, according to NASA’s Asteroid Watch project based at the agency’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif. It made its closest approach to Earth at 4:13 a.m. EDT (0813 GMT).

The Daily Star – “Recent deadly attacks in China that have been blamed on Islamist extremists are getting bolder and bloodier, targeting civilians rather than the authorities and further challenging Beijing’s ability to stop them.

The latest attack at a train station Wednesday in the far-western region of Xinjiang – where extremists among the Turkic Uighur Muslim population have been waging a simmering insurgency against Beijing for years – left three people dead and 79 injured, prompting Chinese President Xi Jinping to demand ‘decisive actions’ against terrorism.

Authorities said two of the dead were assailants, marking the attack as an apparent suicide bombing that hints at a further escalation in tactics, said Raffaello Pantucci, a terrorism expert at the Royal United Services Institute for Defense and Security Studies in London.

Prior to that, in March, five knife-wielding men and women believed to be Uighurs slashed at crowds indiscriminately at a railway station in southwestern China, killing 29 people. And last year, three Uighurs rammed a vehicle into crowds in a suicide attack near the Forbidden City gate in the heart of Beijing, killing themselves and two tourists.

While these attacks are still relatively crude and bear little sign of specialized training, they seem to have an audaciousness and deliberateness that wasn’t present before, said Andrew Small, an expert on China and Central Asia at the German Marshall Fund in Washington, D.C.

‘The capacity of groups inside China to mount effective, politically targeted attacks does seem to be growing,’ Small said.

‘It’s a step beyond the sort of localized incidents in western Xinjiang that were taking off a few years ago.’

Embarrassingly, the latest incident came as Xi wrapped up a four-day trip to the region that included a visit to an anti-terror unit and bold rhetoric from the leader about the need to maintain social stability at all costs.” Read more.
