By Ean Higgins and Dan Box, The Australian – “PRIME Minister Tony Abbott says NSW Police have saved the nation from a third brush with terrorism.

‘This country has already had two brushes with terrorism,’ Mr Abbott told parliament today following the arrest this morning of two men during terror raids in Sydney.

‘There was the attack on police officers in Victoria in September, and then we had the terrorist incident in Martin Place in December. We could easily have had a third but for strong action by NSW Police and the joint counterterrorist team.’

Omar al-Kutobi, 24, and Mohammad Kiad, 25 are suspected of planning to carry out an attack yesterday, amid suspicions they were plotting a public beheading.

A machete, a hunting knife and a flag associated with Islamic State were among items seized in the raids on their Fairfield home, along with a video of a man talking about carrying out an attack.

Neither man appeared during a brief hearing in Fairfield court, in Sydney’s west this afternoon, where prosecutor Michael Allnutt said they are facing a ‘very, very serious allegation.’

Both have been charged with preparing or planning a terrorist act.

Court documents show the two men have been charged with committing ‘an act in preparation/planning a terrorist act’ at some point between 12pm on Monday and 4.40pm yesterday afternoon.

While it is not yet known what the act was, it seems police responded quickly, arresting them at 4.40pm yesterday afternoon.

‘On 10 February 2015, in the state of New South Wales and elsewhere, (the two men) did commit an act in preparation for, or planning a terrorist act,’ the documents said.

Both men are expected to appear by video-link in Sydney’s Central Local Court, where they will also be provided with an Arabic translator, the documents show.

Mr Abbott, asked in parliament about the arrests, said counterterrorism agencies had thwarted ‘an imminent attack’ against Australians.

‘Police found a large ISIL or Daesh flag, a machete, a hunting knife and a video of a recording of one suspect kneeling in front of the ISIL flag with the two knives while making a statement in Arabic,’ the Prime Minister told parliament.

‘This was an imminent attack in Australia inspired by the ISIL or Daesh death cult.’ Read more.

Iranian Government: Women Are Permitted To Speak, But Must Never Sing

Because it’s “religiously forbidden” for women to sing in front of men. Maybe singing might encourage women to unveil their hair or paint their nails or wear pretty clothes. And that would bring devastating consequences upon the Islamic Republic …

NCRI – “Hassan Rouhani’s government will not issue permits for women to sing solo, Ali Jannati, the minister of Culture and Guidance has declared.

Speaking in Isfahan on Friday, Ali Jannati said: ‘Those political currents that to seek to weaken and destroy the government offer incorrect information to religious scholars and members of parliament and distort the issue.’

He stressed that: ‘The Ministry of Guidance and Culture does not issue permits for women to sing solo.’

He added: ‘Ministry of Guidance works in adherence to Supreme Leader’s viewpoint.’

Jannati remarks followed statements by two senior clerics in Qom announcing that women cannot sing in Iran.

Nouri Hamedani and Makarem Shirazi in their lectures in Qom protested an album that had songs of a female singer, state-run news agency website Tabnak reported on February 4.

Nouri Hamedani said in his lecture: There is no problem with women talking, but ‘women singing cannot become common and we will stop it’. He continued: it is ‘religiously forbidden’ for women to sing or play musical instruments in front of men.

‘Any film, festival, book or music that is in contrast with revolutionary values will be stopped,’ he reminded.
Makarem Shirazi, another senior mullah also showed his opposition to women singers in his lecture as a matter that ’causes popular discontent’.” Source – NCRI.

France: Man Tries To Burn Israeli Flag Outside Paris Kosher Market

C’est incroyable. A man picks a random flag (which just so happens to be Israeli) and attempts to burn it outside a random market (which just so happens to be Jewish) which itself just so happens to be the site of a random Islamic terror attack last month. And I’m sure this man’s peaceful religion had absolutely no influence whatsoever over his random actions. Freaky coincidences. Where would Islam (and Barack Hussein Obama) be without them? …

By Haim Lev, INN – “Police in Paris on Monday arrested a 38-year-old man who tried to set fire to an Israeli flag that was placed at the entrance to the Hyper Cacher kosher supermarket, where Islamist terrorist Amedy Coulibali murdered four Jews last month.

According to local police, the man was stopped and detained before he could carry out his plan to burn the flag. He is reportedly known to police for previous offenses of ‘willful destruction’ and it is believed the incident is of a criminal background.

The attack on the Hyper Cacher supermarket followed the killing of 12 people at the offices of satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo just two days earlier. Coulibali was also behind the killing of a policewoman the day before the attack on the kosher supermarket.

Monday’s incident comes less than a week after a knife-wielding man attacked three soldiers patrolling outside a Jewish community center on the French Riviera.

Two of the troops received knife wounds in the attack and a third managed towrestle the assailant to the ground.

The attacker, 30-year-old Moussa Coulibaly (who is not believed to be related to the Hyper Cacher attacker), was arrested immediately after the attack. He told investigators of his hatred of France, Jews, the police and the military.

The knife attack raised fresh security concerns in France, where authorities continue to crack down on potential terrorists. On Sunday, French police detained six people suspected of recruiting potential jihadists, just days after another operation saw five charged on similar grounds.” Source – INN.
