AvPixlat (Translation) – “When a police patrol went to carry out a drug screening of a suspected gang of youths in the immigrant-dominated Gothenburg district of Bergsjön it ended up with two of the police officers knocked down and beaten with punches and kicks.

Several of the gang managed to flee the scene but two of the gang members, 18 and 21 years old, were apprehended and are now suspects in assault and assaulting a police officer.

They were released, however, for unknown reasons after interrogation. Police did say they take seriously this lack of respect for the police, an attitude, however, that is the rule rather than the exception among the gangs in the ‘multicultural’ neighbourhoods.

The assault took place in connection with a police patrol observed a gang of immigrant youths in Meteor Way in Bergsjön who had concerns about some of the gang had drugs on him.

One of the people that the allegations were made against became aggressive and tried to leave from the site. He was stopped by police but put up violent resistance, with the remaining gang members attacking a police officer.

Additional police officers were called to the scene but the gang still continued with their violence in which two policemen were injured by blows and kicks.

The police intervention that led to the gang beatings were part of the Gothenburg Police work against the large number of gang shootings and shootings that have occurred in Gothenburg recently.

Police have stepped up their efforts in the area, conducting multiple inspections to find weapons and drugs.” Source – Blazing Cat Fur.

AFP – “Attackers shot dead four worshippers on Sunday when they burst into a church service near the Kenyan port city of Mombasa, spraying the congregation with bullets, police said.

The attack, which also left about 17 people wounded, came amid heightened warnings of a threat of Islamist violence in Kenya and despite boosted security in major cities including Mombasa.

‘They were shot by gunmen who shot indiscriminately at worshippers and then fled,’ said local police chief Robert Mureithi, from the Likoni district just south of Mombasa.

Two people were killed instantly, while two more later died of their injuries, the Red Cross said, adding that 17 people had been taken to hospital.

Kenya’s National Disaster Operation Centre said there had been ‘mass casualties’ in the attack on an evangelical church.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility, but Kenya has been hit by a series of attacks since sending troops into southern Somalia in October 2011 to battle the Al Qaida-linked Al Shabab insurgents.

Kenyan troops, which have since joined the African Union force in Somalia, are taking part in a fresh offensive launched this month against Al Shabab bases.

Kenya and Uganda, another key contributor of troops to the AU force, have both warned of the threat of fresh Al Shabab attacks in their own countries.

The attack on the church comes six months after Al Shabab commandos carried out the September massacre in Nairobi’s Westgate mall in which at least 67 people were killed.

The group said the carnage was retribution for Kenya’s military role in Somalia.

The latest attack also comes just days after police arrested two men with a vehicle stashed full of large quantities of powerful explosives prepared in pipe bombs, which experts said would have been strong enough to bring down a major building.” Read more.

For the past few decades, Muslims have been relying heavily on so-called ‘scientific evidences’ for the divine inspiration of the Qur’an. The claim is that, because the Qur’an contains numerous scientifically accurate statements that couldn’t have been known by Muhammad, the Qur’an must be the Word of Allah.

The problem is that the Qur’an doesn’t contain a single scientifically accurate statement that couldn’t have been known by Muhammad. Indeed, the Qur’an contains precisely the sort of nonsensical material we would expect from a seventh-century illiterate caravan trader.

For instance, the Qur’an claims that the sun sets in a muddy pool (18:86), that semen is formed between the backbone and ribs (86:6-7), that the earth is flat (88:20), that there are seven earths (65:12), that the sun orbits the earth (36:38-40), that human embryos are blood-clots (22:5), that the sky would fall on the earth if Allah didn’t hold it up (22:65), and that stars are missiles that Allah uses to shoot demons who try to sneak into heaven (37:6-10; 67:5).

WRAL – “Planes linked to a company with FBI connections circled a north Raleigh neighborhood for weeks before a Wednesday raid that resulted in terrorism charges against two men.

Authorities said in court documents that Akbar Jihad Jordan and Avin Marsalis Brown planned to travel to Syria and Yemen to fight for Islam. Federal law prohibits conspiring to kill or maim people outside the U.S.

FBI agents seized several weapons, including an AK-47 rifle and a sword, along with ammunition from the apartment off Gresham Lake Road that Jordan, 21, shared with his mother.

Airplanes equipped with electronic monitoring equipment have been circling the area where Jordan lives for about a month, flying the same path for up to eight hours a day.

WRAL Investigates tracked the planes’ registrations to a company known to have ties to the FBI. Airplanes belonging to the company and its known affiliates were also spotted in Boston in the days following the marathon bombing last April.

Radar records for every plane connected to or owned by the companies with FBI connections were searched, and two clearly showed a circular flight path. It’s unclear whether those flights are connected to ongoing investigations.

FBI agents moved on the alleged conspiracy involving Jordan and Brown this week because Brown, 21, was about to leave the country, court records show.

Brown was arrested Wednesday at Raleigh-Durham International Airport, and he told investigators that he planned to fly to Turkey and then travel to Syria, according to court records. He made his first court appearance Thursday morning.

One person was taken into custody during the north Raleigh raid, but it’s unclear whether it was Jordan.

A motion filed in federal court noted that Jordan, who is listed as Akba Jordan, is in a hospital, but it’s unclear what he’s being treated for and which hospital is treating him.

Confidential informants told the FBI that Brown and Jordan, a 2011 Millbrook High School graduate, began talking last May about going overseas to engage in jihad. Jordan ‘functioned as a type of physical fitness, firearms and tactics instructor to Brown’ and often displayed a cache of weapons and ammunition in his apartment, records state.

Jordan even stated at one point that he slept on his kitchen floor with an AK-47 and a Quran to empathize with Muslims in Syria.” Read more.

RAWA News – “A new report on human rights in Afghanistan released by the U.S. State Department reveals that girls as young as six can be ‘married’ away or betrothed and are the victims of frequent sexual abuse from older men, sometimes within their own families.

Although the Taliban have a reputation for religious conservatism, that conservatism does nothing to protect women and girls from the sexual depredations of men. Women and girls are commonly victimized and those that speak out are likely to be blamed themselves, regardless of age differences.

Afghan law requires that girls be 16 before they can marry and boys 18. Such laws are rarely respected and about 60 percent of all girls are forced to marry before 16. Since most of the marriages in Afghanistan are unregistered and few people even have birth certificates, it is virtually impossible for the government to enforce the law.

Other Afghan laws designed to protect women from abuse also have little enforcement.

In 2013, incidents of rape also increased in Afghanistan. Most of the victims were children.

The Taliban argue that restricting child marriages is ‘un-Islamic.’ In their culture, it is perfectly acceptable to marry children or to promise them in marriage. Traditionally a girl may be betrothed, but the marriages are supposed to be delayed until puberty. However, this is not always respected. Also, early onset of puberty can occur in some girls, sometimes as young as eight.

Not only are these girls younger and physically unable to engage in healthy sexual relationships within the context of marriage, they are also psychologically unprepared for marriage, sex, and motherhood.

Girls who are promised in marriage can also be abused by their own family, especially if the intended groom is also a child -the young boy cannot defend his child wife from the depredations of older men.

Child marriage is an ancient practice for the region and it is part of the dominant culture. Typically, money is exchanged for the bride-to-be. However, it is now understood that such practices are very harmful. Girls and women in these situations are usually treated poorly, with several being badly abused or even killed each year.

Given the Afghan government’s lukewarm support of the official law and their inability to effectively rule outlying districts, it is unlikely these barbaric practices will change anytime soon.” Source – RAWA News.

By Tova Dvorin, INN – “Top-ranking government officials allotted ten billion shekel ($2.89 billion) to the IDF’s budget in preparation for an armed conflict with Iran, Ha’aretz reported Wednesday.

The report cites ‘senior military officials’ and three unnamed Knesset MKs as stating that the huge sum – the same as in 2013 – has been relegated within the IDF treasury for preparations for an attack on the Islamic Republic in 2014.

The report also interprets statements from IDF representatives and ‘government officials from the political echelon’ as the IDF receiving direct orders from Netanyahu and Ya’alon over the issue.

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and IDF Spokesperson’s Office both declined to comment.

While Ya’alon was adamant about the US taking the lead in attacks against Iran in the previous Knesset term, and took up the issue with then-Defense Minister Ehud Barak, he recently criticized the US and the West for remaining complacent about the outcome of ongoing talks.

‘Everyone knows Iran is lying,’ Ya’alon noted. ‘But the pampered West is satisfied with postponing conflict [with Iran over the nuclear program].’ He added that it may be possible to stall Iran ‘until next year – or even after this term – but eventually, it will explode.'” Read more.

By Raymond Ibrahim, PJ Media – “Recently on live TV, Sheikh Abdul Maqsud, an Islamic jurisprudent, issued a fatwa obligating ‘Muslims’ (in this context, Muslim Brotherhood supporters in Egypt) to engage in acts of terror against ‘infidels’ (in this context, the Egyptian government and anyone else opposing the Brotherhood).

Maqsud began by quoting the well-known hadith in Sahih Muslim wherein prophet Muhammad reportedly said that if a Muslim sees forbidden acts being committed, he should forcefully stop them, ‘with the hand’; if he is not capable of doing so, he should try to prevent them ‘with his tongue’; and if he still cannot do that, he should at least be against such acts ‘in his heart.’

Maqsud’s point was that jihad must be understood in the context of capability.  Because the Muslim Brotherhood and its jihadi allies and supporters are simply not capable of taking the Egyptian state head on — due to, as Maqsud bemoaned, Egypt’s military strength and organization, advanced weaponry, and large numbers of soldiers — all pro-Brotherhood Muslims should limit themselves only to those things they can do, namely, terrorism.

To further bolster this view, the sheikh quoted from the renowned Islamic jurist Ibn Hazm, who wrote that Muslims must only draw the sword in jihad when victory is attainable.

And because the Brotherhood’s supporters have little chance of attaining victory by drawing the sword in a head on jihad,  ‘All that is left for us,’concluded Maqsud, ‘is to try to terrorize them, by burning their cars, threatening them, burning their homes, etc.’

Maqsud, like so many before him, rationalized jihad in the context of the doctrine of abrogation, specifically, by taking the view that later verses do not cancel out earlier ones, but rather that Muslims must uphold those verses that are closest to their personal circumstances.” Source – PJ Media.
