By Fazel Hawramy, The Guardian – “Yazidi shepherd Amin Jendi was herding his flock in northwest Iraq on an August morning last year when Islamic State (Isis) militants attacked. By the time the 54-year-old returned to his village in the Sinjar area at lunchtime, Isis had taken over, and he wasdetained by the militants.

Considered apostates by Isis, Amin and several thousand other Yazidis were taken to several places under the group’s control, including Mosul, and held captive for over five months. While hundreds of followers of the ancient religion have been massacred by Isis, around 200 elderly, sick and disabled Yazidis were freed by the extremist group on Saturday. Jendi was one of them.

‘I was beaten up because I refused to say the Shahada,’ says Amin, referring to the Islamic declaration of faith which is emblazoned on the Isis flag. ‘I had to say it in the end to save my life.’

Isis militants swooped into northern Iraq in early June last year. Two months later they targeted the Yazidi minority, whose members are considered to be devil worshippers by the militant group,and killed hundreds of them and took several thousand prisoners.” Read more.

This is significant because it therefore means that the Greek text is better understood as ‘the multitude of the beast: for it is the multitude of a man.’ But what multitude of people would that be and what man are they all following? There is nothing in the text telling us that the man referred to here must be someone alive at that specific time or an end-of-days Antichrist. So what and who is John the Revelator referring to? Significantly, as noted above, ‘chi-xi-stigma’ (often translated as ‘666’) closely resembles the Arabic Bismallah, which translates to ‘In The Name Of Allah’. In order to convert to ‘Allah’s’ religion, however, one must recite the Islamic statement of faith, called the Shahada, by declaring that ‘There is no god but Allah, and MOHAMMED is his messenger.'” Read more.

ABNA – “Seven men thought to be the so-called Islamic State group cell members have been arrested by Israeli security forces after reportedly being caught violently beheading live animals in preparation for an attack on Israeli occupied regime. They were supposedly beheading the animals as practice for what they would do to Israelis.

All seven reportedly admitted to being a part of the so-called Islamic State group and have been plotting to attack the Druze Israelis and security forces in the Israeli region. It is believed they were trying to set up a terrorist network in Israel as well.

The men were arrested in the Northern region of Galilee in November and December 2014.

If they are indeed a part of Islamic State group, the men are the first of its members to be found in Israel.

Shin Bet, Israel’s internal security force, claims the men slaughtered animals to prepare themselves for ‘slaughtering infidels in Syria,’ according to their indictment. The seven also allegedly met regularly to discuss their violent ideologies, build homemade bombs and prepare themselves to fight with Islamic State group.

The Jerusalem Post identified the seven as Adnan Aladin, 40, a lawyer in Nazareth; Hasam Marisat, 30, a former security prisoner from Deir Hanna; Karim Abu-Tzalah, 22; Alaa Abu-Tzalah, 27; Halad Abu Tzahalh, 30; Sarif Khaled Abu-Tzalah, 29; and Muhammad Abu Tazalah, 27.

According to the newspaper, the central member of the cell is Aladin, who called himself a ‘senior and official [Islamic State] officer in Palestine.’ He was suspended from his job with the Public Defender’s Office in July after he wrote a Facebook post in praise of an Islamic hadith about killing Jews.” Read more.

It came from a known Islamist who wants to raise an army to impose Sharia law here in Australia.

His message was met by cries of ‘Takbir… Allahu Akbar!’ by his followers at Lakemba in Western Sydney.

‘Eventually, we will bounce back and we will reclaim everything that they have taken from us,’ Bilal Merhi told the crowd.

Around 200 men and another 50 women and children, behind a curtain at the back, attended the Public Rally held by extremist Muslim group Hizb ut-Tahrir.

They were told Australia’s democratic government has to go in favour of an Islamic Caliphate ruled by Sharia Law.

‘Now they say are brave, they have their freedoms… yeah because you have no state, no authority, you have no representation, they can be brave! But be brave when we have authority! Come forward when we have a representation with an army! Ready to defend the honour of Allah and his Messenger. They will not. They will not. And that’s what we have to understand,’ Merhi told the crowd.

Freedom of speech was top of the agenda as firebrand preacher Bilal Merhi said Australians use freedom of speech to mock Islam.

‘We will continue to stand up and oppose your freedom to insult our Messenger! Takbir! Allahu Akbar! Takbir! Allahu Akbar!’

As the only journalist present, the organisers allowed me to record audio, but banned cameras.

Australian law says we’re allowed to film public rallies.

‘We do have some media present here tonight so we do strongly encourage the audience not to engage with them,’ Hamzah Qureshi, a senior Hizb ut-Tahrir spokesman, told the audience.

By Damien Gayle, Mail Online – “The Saudi royal family are building a 600-mile barrier to fortify the northern frontier of their kingdom.

The fence and ditch, punctuated with radar surveillance towers, command centres and guard posts, aims to protect the Saudis’ oil-rich territory from invasion by the Islamic State insurgency.

Last week a suicide bombing and gun attack which killed two Saudi border guards and their commanding officer was styled by one analyst as the Islamic State’s first attack on the kingdom.

No group claimed responsibility for the assault in a remote desert area, but it happened just next to Iraq’s Anbar province where Islamic State militants are fighting Iraqi army forces.

Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz al-Saud inaugurated the first phase of the border security project in September, soon after Islamic State’s Sunni insurgency swept across Iraq.

The multi-layered barrier, which will eventually stretch across the Saudi-Iraq border from Jordan to Kuwait, includes 78 monitoring towers, eight command centres, 10 mobile surveillance vehicles, 32 rapid-response centres, and three rapid intervention squads, reports Janes.com.

Citing a promotional video, the defence industry magazine reported the six-mile-deep barrier consists of a ditch, two fences and a patrol road connecting the watchtowers and guard rooms. The video included footage of thermal imagers and battlefield radar systems that can detect individuals at up to 12 miles away and vehicles at up to 24 miles away.

By Katharine Lackey and Oren Dorell, USA Today – “Two terror suspects were killed and another was in custody after a police raid on a cell planning a ‘major, imminent attack’ in Belgium, a magistrate said at a news conference Thursday.

Those targeted in the raid had been under surveillance since recently returning to Belgium from Syria and were close to carrying out an attack, Magistrate Eric Van der Sypt said.

The operation in the industrial town of Verviers, located about 80 miles southeast of the capital of Brussels, came amid heightened concerns over terrorism in Europe in the wake of last week’s Paris terror attacks and the threat of extremists returning from Syria.

However, Sypt said there was no link yet to the Paris attacks, and the operation was the result of an investigation into extremists returning from Syria that had been underway for a few weeks.

The suspects were killed after they opened fired on authorities near a train station inVerviers. No civilians or officers were injured, Sypt said.

‘These were extremely well-armed men,’ with automatic weapons, Van der Sypt said.

Witnesses told Belgium’s RTBF radio they heard a series of explosions followed by rapid fire near a bakery and a train station in the town.

Belgium’s terror alert level has been raised to its second highest level, and anti-terror raids were also underway in near Brussels, Sypt said.

Islamic State militants had threatened attacks on Belgium in a video released Wednesday, the Brussels-based Belga news agency reported, according to AFP.

The terrorism cell targeted in Verviers is believed to have ties to the militant group, CNN reported. A senior Belgian counter-terrorism official told CNN the group had been instructed by the Islamic State to carry out attacks in Belgium and Europe in retaliation for the U.S.-led airstrikes against the militants in Syria and Iraq.” Read more.

Business Standard – “The Islamic State (IS) group has reportedly launched a massive social media campaign, urging every Muslim living in the West to act as a ‘city wolf’.

According to the Washington Times, following the recent terror attacks in France, the Islamic State posted Tweets calling on jihadists to kill more Westerners and to celebrate the lives of the three Muslims who slaughtered 17 innocent civilians and police on a rampage that began on Jan.

The Islamic State started the campaign on Sunday via two affiliated media groups, Al-Battar and Al-Ghuraba.

Robert Maginnis, a retired Army officer and military analyst said that IS’ social media sophistication was working and needed to be defeated quickly.

He added the ‘IS’ strategy to harness social media challenges the West’s military dominance by reaching past our governments to the people.’

The group used the hashtag #FightForHim – a reference to the Prophet Muhammad – over 3,000 times on Twitter since early Sunday, the report said.” Source – Business Standard.
