Russia: Security Forces Foil Plot By Group of Islamists to Blow Up High-Speed Train

08/15/2011 Leave a comment

“Russian security serves have foiled a plot by a group of Islamists to blow up a high-speed train running between Moscow and Saint Petersburg, the Kommersant business daily said Monday.

A blast on the same route that authorities blamed on Muslim rebels killed 26 people in November 2009.

The respected daily said the group of North Caucasus-based militants had already prepared a fertilizer bomb and were in the closing stages of their operation when they were arrested by Federal Security Service (FSB) agents.

FSB chief Alexander Bortnikov on July 18 reported to President Dmitry Medvedev that his service had averted a ‘major terror act’ in the Moscow region in the preceding days.

Bortnikov added at the time that militants had plans to target public places and ‘transport infrastructure’ in the Moscow region.

Russia is battling a Muslim insurgency in the North Caucasus, and suicide and other attacks have returned to the Russian capital in recent years.” Read more.

Iraq: At Least 80 Dead After a String of Terror Attacks Throughout Country

Facts don’t lie.  Liars lie.

“BAGHDAD—More than 80 people were killed and dozens were wounded Monday in a string of attacks across Iraq, the deadliest day in the country this year, police and government officials said.

In the worst incident, two bombs exploded in a busy market in the city centre of Kut, killing at least 42 people and injuring more than 50.

In an apparently coordinated series of attacks Monday morning, bombings cut a swath from the northern city of Kirkuk to the pricey Mansour district of Baghdad and south to Najaf. Elsewhere, assailants wielding AK-47s targeted anti-terrorism leaders in Diyala province, northeast of Baghdad.

As night fell on the capital, the violence continued.” Read more.

Turkey FM Issues ‘Final Words’ Calling on Syria to Halt Violent Crackdowns

08/15/2011 Leave a comment

This is the final time Turkey tells Syria to behave.  The final time, of course, until they tell them again next week …

By Zvi Bar’el – “Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu told Syrian President Bashar Assad on Monday that military operations against civilians must end immediately and unconditionally, warning him that these were Ankara’s ‘final words’.

‘This is our final word to the Syrian authorities, our first expectation is that these operations stop immediately and unconditionally,’ Davutoglu told a news conference.

‘If these operations do not stop there will be nothing left to say about the steps that would be taken,’ he said, without elaborating.

Turkish leaders, who had backed Assad in the past, have repeatedly urged him to end violence and make reforms after street protests against his 11 years in power erupted five months ago.” Read more.

Precursor to Armageddon? Hizbullah MP Believes That Syria, Iraq, Iran, and Hizbullah (Lebanon) Will Wipe Out Israel

Psalms 83:2-5, “For behold, Your enemies make a tumult; And those who hate You have lifted up their head. They have taken crafty counsel against Your people, And consulted together against Your sheltered ones. They have said, ‘Come, and let us cut them off from [being] a nation, That the name of Israel may be remembered no more.’ For they have consulted together with one consent; They form a confederacy against You”

If the ‘Shiite Crescent’ could, according to this former general, enter into such a war against Israel with a population mass exceeding 100 million, I’d imagine that any ‘Sunni Crescent’ would be more than willing to set aside their differences, even temporarily, with their Shia neighbors to easily double this population mass, an effort no doubt intended to ensure victory and bask in the ‘Islamic glory’ of a ‘divinely appointed destiny‘.  Due to the historic enmity between the two Islamic sects, of course, such a fragile coalition would completely fall apart if something were to go terribly wrong, and Shia and Sunni could very well all end up attacking each other instead …

Hizbullah MP Brig.-Gen. Walid Sakariya (Ret) – “Iran is the country most hostile to Israel, but Iraq serves as a buffer between Iran and the Palestine front – from the days of Saddam Hussein and until the US military presence in Iraq. Iran supports the forces of confrontation: Hamas, Hizbullah, and Syria. If, following the US withdrawal, Iraq becomes a bridge linking Iran to Syria, the Iranian forces could cross Iraq and arrive in Syria, in order to participate in a direct war on the Golan front. In that case, Israel would not be fighting Hizbullah alone. It would be fighting Hizbullah, Syria, Iraq, and Iran. This is the so-called ‘Shiite Crescent’ that they fear.  Since Iran dominates this (axis), the Arab countries refer to it as the ‘Shiite Crescent.’  If Hizbullah has 50,000 missiles and can destroy some targets in Israel, the equation will completely change when Syria and Iran join the war.  You will have the strategic superiority and a force large enough to pulverize Israel, even if this war costs you hundreds of thousands of martyrs – not just 1,000 or 2,000. You will enter this war with a population mass exceeding 100 million…

If Syria, as a confrontation country, falls, America and the Zionist enterprise will be victorious… But if Syria is victorious as a confrontation country, Israel will come to an end.”

Palestinian Statehood: Conquest Disguised as Liberation

By Dean Malik – “First they invaded; five Arab armies, from Jordan, Syria, Egypt, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq all descended. Israel was a state newly formed of a small core of native Sabras from the first five Aliyas along with the battered survivors of the Holocaust and a small cadre of American and British WWII veteran volunteers. After two years of desperate fighting and a cumulative loss to Israel of over one and a half percent of its population, the conflicted ended in a stalemate, with Israel holding a swath of land measuring 9 miles in width at its narrowest, and 71 miles at its broadest, extending 263 miles from the Lebanon border in the north through the Negev Desert in the south.

Three more wars followed in 1956, 1967 and 1973, then an airline hijacking campaign, multiple hostage seizures, civilian bus and car ambushes in the 1970s and 1980s, dozens of suicide bombings in the 1980s and 1990s, and a barrage of over eight thousand short and medium range rockets right up to the present.

This September, what the Arab world could not win in war, and would not accept in peace, it will ask the United Nations to give to it through a non-binding resolution, proving in a surreal twist on Von Clauswitz, that politics is in fact the continuation of war by other means.” Read more.

Expert: Large European Cities Overwhelmed by Muslim Population

08/14/2011 Leave a comment

“Muslim population in many big European cities already exceeds 20%, according to Alex Alexiev, an expert in international security and radical Islam and visiting fellow at the Hudson Institute, Washington, D.C.

In his words, however, what is especially worrying is that these Muslims are getting radicalized.

The expert reckons that almost all Western European countries are marked by a high degree of radicalization.

‘Unlike our Muslims from the Balkan Peninsula, they are much more prone to radicalization because the religious organs in Western Europe, the Muslim religious organs, are controlled and commanded by radical Islamists, subsidized/financed by Saudi Arabia and other places, and preach the ideologies of the Muslim Brotherhood and etc’, Alexiev explains in an interview fir the Focus news agency.

According to him, it seems to escape public notice that almost all Muslims in Western Europe are people residing in big cities.

‘Muslims in rural areas and small towns are hard to find. If we take the city of Marseille as an example, the Muslim population there exceeds 30%, the share of the young generation below 20 years of age is already above 50%, meaning that Marseille is on its way to become an exclusively Muslim city. The same applies to Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Malmö, and Antwerp’, the expert says.” Read more.

Russia: We May Be ‘Forced to Ultimately Take Some Decisions on Syria’, Warns Assad to Prepare for ‘Sad Fate’

08/13/2011 Leave a comment

“Bashar Assad, the president of Syria, has been warned by Russia to prepare for ‘a sad fate’ if he fails to enact reform.

The warning from Russian President Dmitry Medvedev came as the United States accused the Syrian regime of killing more than 2,000 people in the five-month uprising.

In his toughest comments on Syria to date, Medvedev said that time was running out for Assad to halt a crackdown against his people, hinting that the Kremlin, a traditional ally, may support tough action against Damascus in the United Nations if the bloodshed continues. ‘People are dying there [in Syria] in large numbers, and that is causing us huge concern,’ said Medvedev. ‘Assad needs to urgently launch reforms, make peace with the opposition, restore civil order and create a modern state. If he cannot do that, a sad fate awaits him, and we will also be forced to ultimately take some decisions on Syria.'” Read more.

Intelligence Officials: Al Qaeda Operatives in Yemen ‘Planning Deadly Ricin Attack’ on US

08/13/2011 Leave a comment

“Intelligence officials have warned Barack Obama that a dangerous regional arm of Al Qaeda is trying to produce the deadly poison ricin to use in attacks against the United States.

Al Qaeda’s affiliate in Yemen is believed to have been trying to acquire large quantities of castor beans, which contain the toxic rich protein.

It is thought the poison would be packed around small explosives which could disperse the white powdery substance on detonation.

It is so deadly that even a speck of it can kill someone if inhaled or taken into the blood stream.

The poison was used in the 1978 assassination in London of Bulgarian dissident Georgi Markov and, in 2002, police raided a facility said to be plotting its manufacture in the UK capital.

Al Qaeda intend on detonating the explosives in enclosed areas like shopping centres and airports.” Read more.

Analysis: Al-Qaida’s ‘Doomsday’ Revenge?

08/12/2011 Leave a comment

“It is a truism that the vice of revenge has motivated humans since the dawn of history. The August 6 downing of a NATO helicopter in Afghanistan killing 30 American troops is perhaps the latest demonstration of a Taliban proxy retaliation to avenge the spectacular loss of Osama bin Laden, al-Qaida’s legendary founder. The casualties included 22 Navy SEALs from Team Six, the secretive unit behind the daring raid that killed the leader on May 2 in Pakistan.

While it is premature to reach any definitive conclusion on the rationale for the Taliban’s deadliest attack, the frightening prospect is the new al-Qaida will seek to retaliate directly against the US in a big way with weapons of mass destruction. During the Nuclear Security Summit held in Washington, DC in April 2010, US President Barack Obama expressed his concerns about a ‘doomsday’ scenario. He warned that al-Qaida and other terrorist organizations ‘are in the process of trying to secure nuclear weapons or other weapons of mass destruction, and would have no compunction at using them.’

Now, four months after the Abbottabad operation and the death of the notorious mastermind of 9/11, the lingering question that still remains is al-Qaida’s worst revenge yet to come? Two reasons account for this likely eventuality. First is the persistent motivation of deep hatred towards the US and its friends and allies. For instance, in February 1998, bin Laden pronounced a fatwah (religious ruling) that Muslims should kill Americans, including civilians, anywhere in the world they could be found, and in the following May, he stated in a declaration titled ‘The Nuclear Bomb of Islam,’ that it is the duty of Muslims to prepare as much force as possible to attack the ‘enemies of God.’

Second is the network’s unending effort to obtain an unconventional capability. Bin Laden’s operatives have relentlessly searched for such weapons and the materials to build them. The lure of engaging in a successful WMD operation as a worthy follow-up to 9/11 still persists as a ‘divine force.’ The sights are definitely on something big. For example, in 2003, New York officials were alerted to a possible hydrogen cyanide gas attack by al-Qaida operatives on the New York subway system.

It didn’t materialize, supposedly called off by Ayman Zawahiri, at the time al-Qaida’s second in command, for ‘something better.'” Read more.

The Punchdrunk President: Obama’s Milquetoast Islamic Extremism Strategy (And Why It’s Doomed To Fail)

08/11/2011 Leave a comment

By Robert Maginnis – “President Barack Obama’s plan to counter violent extremism is doomed because it puts more importance on protecting Muslim sensitivities than confronting the unvarnished truth about the homegrown jihadist threat.

Last week President Obama unveiled his strategy to counter the problem of violent extremism. The eight-page paper titled ‘Empowering Local Partners to Prevent Violent Extremism in the United States’ provides a three-pronged approach that includes community engagement, better training and counter-narratives. But Obama’s plan defies reality by going to great pains to avoid singling out Muslims with what the administration calls a ‘more holistic approach.’

The anti-extremism plan’s ‘holistic approach’ states ‘any solution that focuses on a single, current form of violent extremism, without regard to other threats, will fail to secure our country and community.’ No doubt there are numerous extremist threats, but the dominant threat is Islamic extremism, which deserves most of the administration’s attention.

Specifically, Sunni extremists were identified with about one-half of all terrorist attacks across the world in 2009, according to a 2010 U.S. National Counter Terrorism Center report. Those attacks accounted for 62% of all terrorism-related deaths and the majority of the victims were Muslims in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan. The Islamic threat is now spreading to America’s shores as never before.

The incidences of homegrown Islamist terrorism have increased significantly over the past two years, a trend that is expected to continue. Thirty-one American citizens or legal residents were arrested over the past two years in connection with 22 homegrown Islamist terrorism plots, according to the Congressional Research Service. By comparison, there were just 21 plots over the previous eight years.” Read more.

Pennsylvania: Muslim Pleads Guilty to Using Internet to Solicit Terrorism with ‘Bullets, Bombs, and Martyrdom Operations’

08/11/2011 Leave a comment

‘No peace. But bullets, bombs, and martyrdom operations.’ It seems like week after week more and more within the ‘religion of peace‘ are getting tired of waiting

By Warren Richey – “A 22-year-old American Muslim from New Bethlehem, Pa., pleaded guilty on Tuesday to using an Internet website to urge Muslim radicals within the US to engage in a wide range of terror attacks.

Emerson Winfield Begolly pleaded guilty in federal court in Pittsburgh to a single charge of solicitation to commit a crime of violence.

The solicitations including urging like-minded individuals in the US to sabotage train tracks; destroy phone lines, power lines, and cell phone towers; start forest fires; and engage in isolated attacks against Americans civilians, police, and military officials.

‘Real terrorism, but on a small scale,’ he wrote in one of his posts. ‘Best as single shot, drive by, hit and run, beat down. Who are the best targets? Off duty police, off duty soldiers, gang member, family members of soldiers, government agents, workers at ammunition factory, white supremacists or black supremacists.’

He added: ‘It is best if targeting soldiers or police that they are off duty and out of uniform simply because [their] investigations will look usually for ‘robbery gone wrong’ or ‘revenge’ [rather than] as act of terrorism [or] revolt.’…

‘Begolly placed a number of postings … encouraging attacks within the United States,’ the indictment says. ‘He suggested the use of firearms, explosives, and propane tanks against targets such as police stations, post offices, synagogues, military facilities, train lines, bridges, cell phone towers, and water plants.’

According to the indictment, he used the forum to express his approval of the 9/11 attacks, the 2004 killing of 334 hostages – including 186 children – in Beslan, Russia by Chechen fighters, the kidnapping and beheading of American businessman Nick Berg in Iraq in 2004, and the kidnapping and beheading of Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl in Pakistan in 2002.

Begolly suggested militant Muslims in the US should attack civilian aircraft, banks, military installations, Jewish schools, and Jewish and daycare centers, according to the indictment.

‘Peaceful protests do not work,’ he posted in July 2010. ‘The [non-Muslim unbelievers] see war as [the] solution to their problems, so we must see war as the solution to our[s]. No peace. But bullets, bombs, and martyrdom operations.'” Read more.
