The Day After: Website Run by Iran’s Republican Guard Speaks Openly About Testing Nuclear Warhead
By Julian Borger – “Any mention of an Iranian nuclear weapon is taboo in the Islamic Republic, which insists that its nuclear programme is entirely for peaceful, civil purposes. So it is remarkable, to say the least, that an article has appeared on the Gerdab website, run by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, anticipating the day after Iran’s first test of a nuclear warhead. Here is a translation of the text:
The day after Iran’s first nuclear test is a normal day.
The day after Islamic Republic of Iran’s first nuclear test will be an ordinary day for us Iranians but in the eyes of some of us there will be a new sparkle.
It’s a good day. It’s seven in the morning. The sun is not fully up yet but everywhere is bright. In the northern hemisphere many countries are beginning the day…
The day before, probably in central deserts of Iran, where once Americans and some other Western countries wanted to bury their nuclear waste, an underground nuclear explosion has taken place.” Read more.
Update June 23, 2011: ‘Iranian nuke test’ debunked as blogger’s ‘hoax’ – “An Iranian blogger revealed on Tuesday that the controversial article published on a Revolutionary Guard website in April, describing a hypothetical nuclear experiment by the Islamic Republic, was nothing but a figment of his imagination. The essay caused an international stir as it was not inline with the official Iranian claim that its nuclear program is being developed for civilian purposes only.” Read more.
Iran Nuclear Head: Tehran to Triple Production of Higher Enriched Uranium, Use New Centrifuges
TEHRAN, Iran — Iran will soon install more advanced centrifuges at its new uranium enrichment site, the country’s nuclear chief said Wednesday, underscoring Tehran’s continued defiance in the face of international sanctions imposed over its controversial nuclear program.
Vice President Fereidoun Abbasi also announced that Iran plans to triple its output of the higher enriched uranium in 2011 and move the entire program to the new, secretly-built facility.
The uranium enrichment lies at the heart of Iran’s dispute with the West, which is concerned that the activity masks efforts to make nuclear weapons — a charge Tehran denies, insisting the work is peaceful and only meant to generate electricity.
Abbasi, who also heads Iran’s nuclear agency, said that Tehran would set up the more efficient centrifuges, suitable for higher-grade uranium enrichment, at the Fordo site near the holy city of Qom in central Iran.” Read more.
Evidence Mounting That Iran is Supplying Taliban with Weapons – “Evidence is mounting that Iran is supplying weapons to the Taliban – and that British and other foreign troops are dying in Afghanistan as a result. ‘Hypocritical, two-faced and highly dangerous.’ Strong words from British Foreign Office Minister, Alistair Burt, referring to Iran’s flouting of UN sanctions to sell arms to militant organisations like the Taliban.” Read more.
New Study Shows That 80% of Mosques in America Teach Jihad Violence and Islamic Supremacism
By Robert Spencer – “In 1998, Sheikh Muhammad Hisham Kabbani, a Sufi leader, visited 114 mosques in the United States. Then he gave testimony before a State Department Open Forum in January 1999, and asserted that 80% of American mosques taught the ‘extremist ideology.’
Then there was the Center for Religious Freedom’s 2005 study, and the Mapping Sharia Project’s 2008 study. Each independently showed that upwards of 80% of mosques in America were preaching hatred of Jews and Christians and the necessity ultimately to impose Islamic rule.
And now comes yet more confirmation that mosques in the U.S. are teaching these things, and again the percentage is remarkably similar: around 80% of mosques are found to be teaching jihad warfare and Islamic supremacism.
This study is extensive and detailed. Look over all the data. Above all, call upon your elected officials and the media to take notice — at very least, to ask pointed questions from local mosque leaders about the books they’re using and what they’re teaching in general. Call on them to require honest, verifiable answers.
It is likely, however, that this study, like the three preceding ones that I mentioned above, will be ignored. But don’t let that happen. Our freedoms depend on it.
‘Shari’a and Violence in American Mosques,’ by Mordechai Kedar and David Yerushalmi in Middle East Quarterly, Summer 2011:
Works by several respected jurists and scholars from the four major Sunni schools of jurisprudence, dating from the eighth to fourteenth centuries, are all in agreement that violent jihad against non-Muslims is a religious obligation.[19] Such behavior is normative, legally-sanctioned violence not confined to modern writers with a political axe to grind. Nor does its presence in classical Muslim works make it a relic of some medieval past. While Umdat as-Salik (Reliance of the Traveler) may have been compiled in the fourteenth century, al-Azhar University, perhaps the preeminent center of Sunni learning in the world, stated in its 1991 certification of the English translation that the book “conforms to the practice and faith of the orthodox Sunni community.”[20] While addressing a host of theological matters and detailed instructions as to how Muslims should order their daily routine to demonstrate piety and commitment to Islam, this certified, authoritative text spends eleven pages expounding on the applicability of jihad as violence directed against non-Muslims, stating for example:
The caliph … makes war upon Jews, Christians, and Zoroastrians … provided he has first invited them to enter Islam in faith and practice, and if they will not, then invited them to enter the social order of Islam by paying the non-Muslim poll tax.[21]
The caliph fights all other peoples until they become Muslim … because they are not a people with a book, nor honored as such, and are not permitted to settle with paying the poll tax.[22]
The Fiqh as-Sunna and Tafsir Ibn Kathir are examples of works that were rated “moderate” for purposes of this survey. The former, which focuses primarily on the internal Muslim community, the family, and the individual believer and not on violent jihad, was especially moderate in its endorsement of violence. Relatively speaking, the Fiqh as-Sunna expresses a more restrained view of violent jihad, in that it does not explicitly call for a holy war against the West even though it understands the Western influence on Islamic governments as a force that is destructive to Islam itself.[23]
Nonetheless, such texts do express positive views toward the use of violence against “the other,” as expressed in the following:
Ibn Abbas reported that the Prophet, upon whom be peace, said, “The ties of Islam and the principles of the religion are three, and whoever leaves one of them becomes an unbeliever, and his blood becomes lawful: testifying that there is no god except God, the obligatory prayers, and the fast of Ramadan.” … Another narration states, “If anyone leaves one of [the three principles], by God he becomes an unbeliever, and no voluntary deeds or recompense will be accepted from him, and his blood and wealth become lawful.” This is a clear indication that such a person is to be killed.[24]
Similarly in Tafsir Ibn Kathir:
Perform jihad against the disbelievers with the sword, and be harsh with the hypocrites with words, and this is the jihad performed against them.[25]
The survey’s findings, explored in depth below, were that 51 percent of mosques had texts that either advocated the use of violence in the pursuit of a Shari’a-based political order or advocated violent jihad as a duty that should be of paramount importance to a Muslim; 30 percent had only texts that were moderately supportive of violence like the Tafsir Ibn Kathir and Fiqh as-Sunna; 19 percent had no violent texts at all.
Be sure to read it all, and to keep it close at hand as a resource.” Read more.
Kuwaiti Politician: Men Should be Allowed Sex Slaves and Female Prisoners Could Do the Job
This is from a FEMALE politician in Kuwait who claims that it is permissible in Islam to take non-Muslim women as sex slaves. That’s right, the ‘religion of peace’ and ‘dhimmi’ sex slavery should now go hand in hand, and this indecent act would protect decent Muslim men from committing adultery with women who are not ‘sex-slaves’ …
By Daily Mail Reporter – “A Kuwaiti woman who once ran for parliament has called for sex slavery to be legalised – and suggested that non-Muslim prisoners from war-torn countries would make suitable concubines.
Salwa al Mutairi argued buying a sex-slave would protect decent, devout and ‘virile’ Kuwaiti men from adultery because buying an imported sex partner would be tantamount to marriage.
And she even had an idea of where to ‘purchase’ these sex-salves – browsing through female prisoners of war in other countries.
The political activist and TV host even suggested that it would be a better life for women in warring countries as the might die of starvation.
Mutairi claimed: ‘There was no shame in it and it is not haram’ (forbidden) under Islamic Sharia law.’
She gave the example of Haroun al-Rashid, an 8th century Muslim leader who ruled over an area covered by modern-day Iran, Iraq and Syria and was rumoured to have 2,000 concubines.
Mutairi recommended that offices could be opened to run the sex trade in the same way that recruitment agencies provide housemaids.
She suggested shopping for prisoners of war so as to protect Kuwaiti men from being tempted to commit adultery or being seduced by other women’s beauty.
‘For example, in the Chechnyan war, surely there are female Russian captives,’ she said.
‘So go and buy those and sell them here in Kuwait. Better than to have our men engage in forbidden sexual relations.'” Read more.
Italy: Palestinian Groups Threaten to Target ‘Israel Week’ in Milan and ‘Ignite the City’
By Menachem Gantz – “Italian police have refused to handle security for an Israeli exhibit at a central Milan square next week due to threats of violence by Palestinian activists, Yedioth Ahronoth reported Monday.
The exhibit, set to take place at Piazza Duomo, has been planned in honor of ‘Israel Week’ in the city. It includes 15 towers showcasing Israeli culture, technology, agriculture, economics, and art ‘to present the unfamiliar Israel’.
But pro-Palestinian organizations are threatening to target the exhibit. Over the past few days the groups have been urging internet users to sign a petition to cancel the exhibit.
Web posters issued by the groups threaten to ‘ignite the city’ and say, ‘No to Israeli occupation of Milano’.” Read more.
UK: Muslim Teacher Tells Students ‘Terrorism Works’ and ‘Permanent State of War’ Exists Between Muslims and Non-Muslims
By Duncan Gardham – “An Islamic preacher told students it was difficult to argue with the views of Osama bin Laden and said ‘terrorism works’ in a speech at the university attended by the Detroit bomber, it can be disclosed.
Abdur Raheem Green, a Muslim convert and former public schoolboy, told students at University College London that a ‘permanent state of war exists between the people of Islam and the people who opposed Islam’.
He gave the speech, seen by The Daily Telegraph, to the university’s Islamic society while Umar Farouq Abdulmutallab, the Detroit bomber, was a student there in 2005.
A review by UCL into the Abdulmutallab case failed to analyse speeches made by the preacher and other visitors. It concluded that ‘speakers with controversial but not illegal views were welcome to the extent that they could be expected to stimulate debate’.
The disclosure follows a statement by Theresa May, the Home Secretary, in an interview with this newspaper, in which she said there had been ‘complacency’ by universities about Islamic extremism.
The Government’s Prevent strategy to combat extremism will say it is ‘concerned that some universities and colleges have failed to engage’ with the project, and cite a study showing that at least 55 per cent of institutions did not frequently engage with authorities running the scheme.
Qasim Rafiq, a spokesman for the Federation of Student Islamic Societies, invited Mr Green to speak at UCL along with two speakers from the extremist group Hizb ut-Tahrir and another who has supported the Taliban.
Since then, Mr Green has been invited to give lectures at London University’s School of Oriental and African Studies, Queen Mary and Bart’s and at UCL.
Referring to bin Laden in his 2005 UCL speech, Mr Green, who claims he is not an extremist, said: ‘His rational [sic] is … we are going to keep on killing your women and children until you stop killing our women and children. How do you argue with that?’
Citing the IRA, he added: ‘The other thing is that it seems that terrorism works. We certainly have precedent.’
Saqib Sattar, a trustee of the Islamic Education and Research Academy, where Mr Green works, said: ‘The aim of the talk was to combat indiscriminate violence and terrorism and not advocate it.’
A spokesman for UCL said the inquiry had been aware of the speech but added: ‘Provided the law is observed, we do not operate a ‘no platform’ policy in relation to speakers with controversial, distasteful or even repugnant views.’” Source – The Telegraph.
Germany on the Brink
By Robert Spencer – “In Stuttgart, Germany, last week, violent Leftist and Islamic supremacist demonstrators violently menaced anti-jihad activists – giving a sobering picture of where Germany, Europe, and the U.S. as well are headed if we don’t stand up and resolutely defend our freedom now.
Thursday afternoon I spoke in Stuttgart at the invitation of the human rights group Pax Europa. The event was well advertised, and so the thuggish Leftist/Islamic supremacist alliance mobilized and was out in full force.
About a thousand protesters from the frequently violent hard-Left Antifa group showed up, along with around 500 German riot police. ‘Antifa’ stands for ‘Anti-fascism,’ but if any fascism was on display, it was from the ‘anti-fascists,’ who did their best to destroy the Pax Europa event. They were menacing people, starting fights, banging drums, blowing whistles, and chanting Leftist and Communist agitprop slogans. One young man from Antifa came up to me as I was standing right in front of a line of German police and said, ‘You’re lucky there are so many police here today.’ He was not expressing solidarity.” Read more.
Global Jihad Marches: Islam and Forced Conversion
By VIN IENCO – “I have been producing a weekly synopsis and articles on the global encroachment of Islam for about two years. In that time, a week hasn’t passed without certain ‘staples’ of Islam perpetrated on Muslims and Non Muslims alike. One of the traits that are unquestionably unique to Islam is ‘forced conversion’.
With very little research, it is easy to discover that forced conversion in hand with over-breeding, is part of a larger Islamic strategy to achieve the state of Dar al-Islam, or the ‘house of Islam’. Simply defined, it is the chipping away at a country until it is an Islamic state and continuing this, on a global scale, until all religion is for Allah. The weekly synopsis certainly gives a clear picture of this objective.” Read more.
Terrorism in the UK: Universities ‘Complacent’ Over Islamic Radicals
By Duncan Gardham – “Theresa May told The Daily Telegraph that universities were not taking the issue of radicalisation seriously enough and that it was too easy for Muslim extremists to form groups on campuses ‘without anyone knowing’.
She also said the Government would cut funding to any Islamic group that espoused extremist views, and set out the ‘key British values’ to which those seeking support must subscribe. It is understood that about 20 groups are already losing their funding.
Mrs May made her comments ahead of the publication this week of the updated version of the Prevent counter-terrorism strategy.
‘I think for too long there’s been complacency around universities,’ she said. ‘I don’t think they have been sufficiently willing to recognise what can be happening on their campuses and the radicalisation that can take place. I think there is more that universities can do.’
Mrs May said universities had to ‘send very clear messages’ and ‘ask themselves some questions about what happens on their campuses’.” Read more.
40 UK universities are now breeding grounds for terror as hardline groups peddle hate on campus – “England’s universities have become a breeding ground for extremism and terrorist recruitment, according to a disturbing government report. Officials have identified 40 English universities where ‘there may be particular risk of radicalisation or recruitment on campus’. A soon to be published Whitehall report – seen by the Daily Mail – will point to a string of examples of students going on to commit terrorist acts against this country or overseas.” Read more.
Researcher: Iran Can Produce Nuke Within 2 Months
By Yitzhak Benhorin – “The Iranian regime is closer than ever before to creating a nuclear bomb, according to RAND Corporation researcher Gregory S. Jones.
At its current rate of uranium enrichment, Tehran could have enough for its first bomb within eight weeks, Jones said in a report published this week.
He added that despite reports of setbacks in its nuclear program, the Iranian regime is steadily progressing towards a bomb. Unfortunately, Jones says, there is nothing the US can do to stop Tehran, short of military occupation.
The researcher based his report on recent findings by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), published two weeks ago. Making the bomb will take around two months, he says, because constructing a nuclear warhead is a complicated step in the process.
Jones stresses that stopping Iran will require deploying forces on the ground, because airstrikes are no longer sufficient. The reality is that the US and Israel have failed to keep Iran from developing a nuclear warhead whenever it wants, Jones says.” Read more.
IAEA receives evidence Iran nuke program is military – “VIENNA – The UN atomic watchdog has received further information regarding activities that ‘seem to point to the existence’ of possible military dimensions to Iran’s nuclear program, the agency’s head said on Monday. ‘There are indications that certain of these activities may have continued until recently,’ Yukiya Amano, director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), said in a speech to the agency’s 35-nation governing board.” Read more.
Syria Claims 22 killed, Scores Hurt in Naksa Day Prostests at Israeli Border, IDF Unable to Confirm or Deny
“Israel Defense Forces killed 22 protesters trying to cross from Syrian into Israel during Naksa Day demonstrations Sunday, according to Syrian media reports. The IDF did not give any official number of fatalities.
IDF officers fear that Palestinian refugees will continue trying to breach Israel’s border with Syria, tying down large numbers of soldiers in the Golan Heights.
No Palestinians did cross the border Sunday in the second such attempt in less than a month. In contrast, hundreds surged across on Nakba Day, May 15. Syrian television reported that the IDF also injured hundreds in its effort to repulse them.
The IDF said that since all the casualties were on the Syrian side of the border it was unable to provide an exact count, but it expressed great skepticism about the Syrian figures. Soldiers fired ‘with precision’ at the bottom half of the bodies of the protesters, the army said. Many, if not most, of the casualties occurred when a brush fire, apparently ignited by Molotov cocktails hurled by the demonstrators, set off antitank mines along the border near Quneitra at about 5 P.M.” Read more.
Mosques as Barracks in America
By Andrew G. Bostom – “Turkish Prime Minister Erdogan represents the triumphant Janus-faced approach to the fundamentalist global ‘Islamic revival.’ He and his pious forbears have now completed dismantling Turkey’s secular experiment, and achieved the full-throated re-Islamization of Turkish society, an insidious process begun already within the decade after Ataturk’s death, in 1938. When currying favor with gullible Western audiences, Erdogan burbles disingenuous ecumenical platitudes about the ‘Alliance of Civilizations.’ But in reality, this is an Islamization campaign promoted by the Organization of the Islamic Conference, notably Saudi Arabia, which rewarded Erdogan, for his role in the Alliance, specifically, as ‘services to Islam,’ with the ‘King Faisal International Prize,’ considered the ‘Nobel prize’ of the Arab world. Regardless, Erdogan has always aroused his Muslim constituencies by brazenly appealing to their deep-seated jihadist sentiments as he did while mayor of Istanbul, in 1997, delivering a fiery speech that reminded the masses of these words from the poem ‘The Soldier’s Prayer,’ written (in 1912) by Turkish nationalist poet Ziya Gokalp:
The minarets are our bayonets, the domes our helmets, the mosques our barracks and the faithful our army.
Cited appropriately by successful opponents of minaret construction in Switzerland, such rhetoric should now resonate uncomfortably in America with the online release Monday June 6, 2011 of alarming survey data from a representative national sample of US mosques.
During August 2007, the New York City Police Department (NYPD) released ‘Radicalization in the West – The Homegrown Threat.’ This insightful 90-page report evaluated the threat that had become apparent since 9/11/2001, analyzing the roots of recent terror plots in the United States, from Lackawanna in upstate New York to Portland, Ore., to Fort Dix, NJ. Based upon these case-study analyses of individuals arrested for jihadist activity, the authors concluded that the ‘journey’ of radicalization that produces homegrown jihadists began in so-called ‘Salafist’ (‘fundamentalist’ to non-Muslims) mosques characterized by high levels of Sharia-Islamic Law-adherence. The landmark study just published, ‘Sharia and Violence in American Mosques’ (Kedar M, Yerushalmi D. The Middle East Quarterly, Summer 2011, Vol. 18, No. 3, pp. 59-72) sought to expand considerably upon the NYPD’s post-hoc, case study approach-systematically gathering objective survey data, with much greater methodological rigor-and address these two a priori questions: I) Is there a robust association between observable measures of religious devotion, coupled to Sharia-adherence in US mosques, and the presence of violence-sanctioning materials at these mosques?; and II) Is there a robust association between the presence of violence-sanctioning materials at a mosque, and the advocacy of jihadism by the mosque’s leadership via recommending the study of these materials, or other manifest behaviors?” Read more.
