How Historic Revisionism Justifies Islamic Terrorism

By Raymond Ibrahim, Frontpage Mag – “How important, really, is history to current affairs?  Do events from the 7th century—or, more importantly, how we understand them—have any influence on U.S. foreign policy today?

By way of answer, consider some parallels between academia’s portrayal of the historic Islamic jihads and the U.S. government’s and media’s portrayal of contemporary Islamic jihads.

While any objective appraisal of the 7th century Muslim conquests proves that they were just that—conquests, with all the bloodshed and rapine that that entails—the historical revisionism of modern academia, especially within Arab and Islamic studies departments, has led to some portrayals of the Muslim conquerors as ‘freedom-fighters’ trying to ‘liberate’ the Mideast from tyrants and autocrats. (Beginning to sound familiar?)

Today’s approach to teaching the history of the Muslim conquests of the 7th century is something as follows: Yes, the Mideast was Christian, but local Christians helped Arab Muslims invade and subjugate their countries in preference to Christian Byzantine rule, which was oppressive due to doctrinal disagreements over the nature of Christ.  Hence, the Muslim conquerors were actually ‘liberators.’

This perspective, as with many modern Western perspectives concerning Islam, is a product of modern day epistemic distortions, chief among them: 1) repackaged narratives of the ‘noble savage’ myth—yes, 7th century Muslim invaders were coarse, but had elevated ideals, including a fierce love for freedom and religious tolerance in comparison to Christians of the time (not to mention now); and 2) entrenched political correction that seeks to whitewash the true history of Islam followed by the uncritical acceptance of Islamic apologetics, some of which border on the absurd.

Of course, before the Islamic ‘liberator’ thesis had become mainstream, historians such as Alfred Butler, author of The Arab Conquest of Egypt, had this to say about it:

Even in the most recent historians it will be found that the outline of the story [of the 7th century conquest of Egypt] is something as follows:… that the Copts generally hailed them [Muslims] as deliverers and rendered them every assistance; and that Alexandria after a long siege, full of romantic episodes, was captured by storm. Such is the received account. It may seem presumptuous to say that it is untrue from beginning to end, but to me no other conclusion is possible. (emphasis added; pgs. iv-v).

In fact, one of the major themes throughout Butler’s Arab Conquest of Egypt—which, published in 1902, is heavily based on primary sources, Arabic and Coptic, unlike more modern secondary works that promote the Islamic ‘liberator’ thesis—is that ‘there is not a word to show that any section of the Egyptian nation viewed the advent of the Muslims with any other feeling than terror’ (p. 236).

Tundra Tabloids – “A man dressed in a Muslim outfit broke the windows of a Roihuvuori church and shouted threats in front of the church on Tuesday evening. The police have taken into custody the ethnic Finnish male suspected of the offense, who took attacked the church on the night of the YLE 2′s Ajankohtaisen Kakkosen Islam evening.

There were a number of eye-witnesses . They said that the man came to the church, from the mosque on the opposite side. The man was dressed in a pale Muslim robe.

– The window to the Church’s main door was smashed with the throwing of very large sized rock. It was at the same time as the program [of the Kakkosen Islam night] was going on. The case is now being handled by the police, says the vicar of the parish Roihuvuori Timo Pekka Kaskinen to Radio Dei .

At the time of the incident, the cantor was practicing with volunteers at the Roihuvuori church,

– I was able to meet up with the Cantor later that night. While this was obviously a very daunting experience, Kaskinen described.

The police were summed to the Church and the broken glass was repaired. The man behaved in a threatening manner to the glass repairman who quickly arrived at the scene. eyewitnesses have recounted that the perpetrator refused to allow the worker to repair the window and said that the act was a message of warning to the church.

– According to him[the repairman] it was a threatening situation, but very quickly over, Kaskinen says.

After leaving the church  the Muslim dressed returned to the mosque, where the police arrested the man. The vicar Timo Pekka Kaskinen does not want to guess the motive.” Read more.

Cultural Psychology: How Islam Managed To Stay Medieval For 1,400 Years

What are the cultural psychological factors making Islam able to stay medieval for 1,400 years?

Religion

One main factor is that while all other religions allow their followers to interpret their holy scriptures, thereby making them relatively adaptable to secular law, human rights and individual needs, Islam categorizes Muslims who do not take the Quran literally as apostates. And according to Islamic law, the sharia, apostasy is to be punished with death. The sharia thus makes it impossible for Islamic societies ever to develop into modern, humanistic civilisations.

The fact that Muslims deviating from the Quranic world view are to be punished has the direct consequence that scientific facts conflicting with the naive and childish world view held in pre-Enlightenment cultures are suppressed. Together with massive inbreeding — 70 percent of Pakistanis, 45 percent of Arabs and at least 30 percent of Turks are from first cousin-marriages (often through many generations) — this has resulted in the embarrassing fact that the Muslim world produces only one tenth of the world average when it comes to scientific research, and are dramatically under-represented among Nobel Prize winners. Fewer books have been translated into Arabic in the last thousand years than the amount of books translated within the country of Spain every year.

Within Islam, faith and tradition is obviously valued far, far more than inventions and discoveries that would ease suffering and lead to a more reasonable understanding of the complexity of the universe and the potential of its inhabitants.

Child rearing

Another powerful defence mechanism within Islamic culture is found within Muslim child rearing. A very real threat of violence and even death is over every Muslim child’s head, should he or she decide to

choose another life style than that of its parents. Even if the parents allow their child to choose his or her own religion — or none at all — other Muslims are dedicating their lives to kill them. Together with the wide use of violence and even torture within Muslim families, the horrific amount of daily family executions of Muslim youth, this is enough to keep the vast majority from even considering escaping the way of the sharia. The Quran’s and the Hadiths’ many promises of hellfire to those who go against Muhammad’s orders and example scares many from leaving the culture that brings them so much suffering. I clearly remember how several Muslim inmates at the prison I was working in as a psychologist expressed what seemed to be compassion, when I told them that I do not believe in Allah.

In order further to make sure that the children grow up to follow the same patterns as their family, many of them are subjected to mind-numbing repetitions of Islam’s exceedingly violent scriptures, making many of them ticking time bombs where ever they live.

Marriage

Muhammad’s teaching that Muslim females can only marry Muslim males — often within their own bloodline — further bolster the culture of his followers against outside influence. The fact that the wives are kept like slaves in the way that they can only divorce if they are set free by an Islamic authority, keeps them from escaping the religion and and very often violent husbands, that leaves them with so few freedoms and rights. Should they chose to run away or divorce, they will in most case be cut off by their family, the often violent father is entitled to the children, and because they are categorized as outcasts and have had no or very little right to educate themselves, the possibility to sustain themselves is strongly limited. On top of that, many will live with a death sentence over their head for the rest of their lives for having insulted the family’s honor.

Almost all Muslim women are thus threatened or even forced to fulfill their responsibility of continuing and passing on the Islamic culture, including its many misogynistic aspects. And the marriage rules within Islam makes sure that non-Muslim influence is not invited into the family.

View on non-Muslims

One basic principle within Islam is hating and harming non-Muslims. The Islamic scriptures are full of dehumanizing propaganda against us, and contain dozens of orders for Muslims to suppress, harm and kill atheists and followers of all other religions. The devaluation and demonizing of non-Muslims can easily be compared to the propaganda spread about the enemy by governments in wartime in order remove their soldiers’ psychological hindrances that would otherwise keep them from attacking the opponent. Not surprisingly, Muslims are not allowed to take non-Muslims as friends.

Thus keeping a mental and physical distance to people from other cultures, Islam prevents its followers from being influenced and inspired by our less barbaric values.

Ethnic pride

Another cultural psychological factor enabling Islamic culture to remain unchanged in a globalised world with all its possibilities concerns Muslims’ ethnic pride. No matter how ridiculous or embarrassing it may seem to the outsider, most Muslims are proud of being Muslim and a follower of Islam. According to Islam they are destined to dominate the rest of us, and we are so bad that we deserve the eternal fire. Working as a psychologist in prison, I heard how the Muslim inmates talk about their non-Muslim victims — and their victims were always non-Muslims, unless it concerned women or rival gangs — and I have no doubt that there exists a severe and widespread racism against non-Muslims among Muslims.

The cultural osmosis

Islamic culture thus has several defence mechanisms that prevents it and its followers from being influenced by non-Muslim values. At the same time, Westerners expressing pride in our country, culture or faith are immediately branded as racists, nationalistic or intolerant.

At the same time, we in the West have a longstanding tradition of tolerance and openness, together with the multicultural agenda pushed by the Left, the Media, EU and UN. The cultural osmosis can therefore go only one way: Islam stays where it is, while it drags the West back into medieval darkness, with its limitation of free speech and pre-enlightenment-style acceptance of religious dogmas and sensitivities.” Source – Jihad Watch.

World Tribune – “Turkey has been challenging Israel’s military throughout the Mediterranean.

Military sources said Turkey has used its Navy and Air Force to disrupt Israeli operations around the Mediterranean. They said the Turkish Air Force and Navy harassed Israeli warplanes during patrols and exercises over the last six months.

‘They are trying to provoke an incident with us that could have strategic repercussions,’ a source said.

The sources said the Turkish military was ordered by Prime Minister Recep Erdogan to disrupt Israeli operation near waters or air space claimed by Ankara, including those around the Republic of Cyprus. They said this has hampered recent exercises in the eastern Mediterranean with Greece, including one that took place earlier this month.

‘The Turks view us as they do the Greeks, which means that the Turkish military flexes its muscles at every opportunity it gets,’ the source said. ‘In the air, Turkish warplanes are playing a game of chicken with our forces.’

The sources said Ankara has been dismayed by Israel’s growing militarycooperation with Greece. They said the Israeli cooperation, which included military exercises, training and arms projects, replaced Turkey with Greece as a leading defense partner of the Jewish state. In November, Israel plans to host three NATO members in the largest international exercise in the country.

Yes, all Octobers in Canada shall be an opportunity for you infidels to learn from my people.

Learn about our often bloody history of conquest and enlightenment, including how we Muslims slaughtered our own Prophet Mohammed’s family, right up to modern times when we committed genocides in Bangladesh and Darfur and tried to kill innocent school girls like Malala Yousafzai.

It’s amazing how Canada is providing us Muslims the opportunity to reconcile the crimes and accomplishments of our forefathers, without us having to fear for our lives.

So, now that we have allotted October to Muslims, how about designating every month of the year as a ‘History Month’ for all the religious (and other) groups in Canada?

Let us start with the Sikhs and designate November as ‘Sikh History Month’.

And what better month to designate as ‘Christian History Month’ than December?

If Catholics and Protestants do not wish to share December, we can have a coin toss and the loser gets January.

We are now left with seven more months (February, as you all know, is already designated as ‘Black History Month’) to distribute to the other dozen or so religious communities of Canada.

Germany: Police Chasing Suspect Are Forced To Run For Their Lives From Suspected Muslim Mob

It appears that the article believes it doesn’t need to mention the identity of the violent mob, but in numerous past examples this behavior has been typical of Muslim street gangs time and time again. If this incident were any different the article would have likely gone out of its way to identify who the perpetrators truly were, but sometimes it’s silence that speaks volumes …

Aachener Zeitung (Translation) – “A policeman attempting to arrest an offender is suddenly overrun by 10 to 15 people who insult and threaten him. The officer manages to escape, calling for backup, but even they need to withdraw.

Reason: Now gathered are 50 to 60 aggressive people opposing the police. What looks like scenes from a Hollywood movie about tough New York street gangs becomes quite real on Thursday night in Aachen Ostviertel, provoking heated debates at the police headquarters in Aachener Soers the next day.

‘There are some people who probably believe they live in law-free areas,’ says police spokeswoman Sandra Schmitz at the request of the AZ regarding the extremely troubling incident. ‘This is a development that we will not tolerate under any circumstances.’

The whole incident started on Thursday around 7 pm in the Alsace road. A police car was traveling there at the same moment a 20-year-old wanted on an arrest warrant was leaving a restaurant. Recognizing the man, one of the police officers immediately began chase. The officer followed him on foot, but then quickly becomes the hunted himself.

A group of 10 to 15 people who were passing by the two also gives chase — and started chasing the policeman. ‘You die, pig’ they yell at the officials, ‘we’ll get you and break you.’

After the police manage to escape and call for backup, several patrol cars arrive. The police won’t necessarily find the 20 year-old, who has appeared repeatedly as a perpetrator of violence and this time was wanted for counterfeiting offenses.

But again, clearly inferior in number, officials find themselves in the middle of the street with a group of 50 to 60 people and leave the scene. ‘These are situations where you would rather first retreat for the purpose of de-escalation and strike back later,’ says Schmitz.

Two criminal charges of the breach of peace will be delivered immediately against the 20-year-old and a 26-year old, who is known to the police. The investigation of the other people running under ‘unknown’. The police are silent on any further measures being considered.

“Sturla Nøstvik ( 36 ) sensed no danger before he was beaten in his forehead with a gun. It was the start of a 50 minute long hell as a hostage. The robbers became insecure and threatened Sturla to make him say that the robbers were not dark-skinned, but white. Sturla assumes they are of Somali origin.

Women are raped in the night in Oslo, the amount of robberies is increasing fast. In the last ten years, more than 4,000 people have been robbed in the Oslo center and Greenland (Muslim dominated area) area, mostly by young men.

Sturla Nøstvik is robbery victim #351 in Greenland this year alone, while in the same period more than 50 rapes in Oslo have been reported. Police visited Sturla Nøstvik when he was at the emergency room for treatment after the robbery . …. He is blind in his left eye, so he is so glad it went did not go worse. Pakistan: Christian Family Accused Of Blasphemy, Threatened With Death For Refusing To Convert To Islam

By Jibran Khan, AsiaNews – “A Pakistani court has indicted three people for proffering death threats against the family of Boota Masih, 58, a Christian man killed in mid-September in an incident involving accusations of blasphemy. Siding with the dead man’s family, activists with Life for All and the Masihi Foundation, along with Church and civil society leaders, have called on the authorities to arrest the murderer and do something to stop the persecution of the Masihs’ who are only guilty of being Christian. Unfortunately, they are up against the usual reticence (if not the connivance) of police and prosecutors in such cases.

Everything began for the Masih family on 16 September when Muhammad Asif killed their main breadwinner after accusing him of blasphemy. The Muslim businessman attacked his victim at the Liaqatabad Gold Market in Karachi in broad daylight. Using a knife, he cut his throat, finishing him off with a dozen stabs, all this in the plain view of other workers and some police officers, who did not intervene and left the murderer all the time he needed to escape unmolested.

The next day, a member of the Liaqatabad Jewellers Association belatedly came to the dead man’s defence, saying that he ‘had never seen or heard him speaking against anyone, ever.’ The victim had worked at the market for 30 years.

For his family, the accusation of blasphemy was but an excuse to kill him, a way to remove a business rival. When they reported the murder, police initially refused to start an investigation.

The story took a turn for the worse when, on 24 October, a group of armed men broke into the Masih home, threatening to kill its members if they did not withdraw their complaint and convert to Islam.

Instead of complying with the threats, the Masihs went to police the next day to file another complaint. Last Sunday, law enforcement authorities took into custody Muhammad Nadeem and two accomplices, for carrying out the punitive raid against the bereaved family. Yesterday, their case went before a judge. Still, the murderer Muhammad Asif is still a fugitive.

Fr Arshad Gill, a priest in Karachi, spoke to AsiaNews about this ‘sad story’ in which the victim is ‘an innocent man’ and his family is told to convert to Islam or die. For him, the case epitomises the situation of Pakistan’s minorities, forced to live ‘in conditions of profound insecurity’ in which events such as this one tend to exacerbate the situation.” Read more.

By ADAMU ADAMU and MICHELLE FAUL, ABC News – “A 5-hour battle between Islamic extremists and army troops in the capital of Yobe state killed at least 127 people, all but two combatants, according to reports from army and police officers that raise doubts about military claims that they have the upper hand in Nigeria’s fight to halt an Islamic uprising in the northeast.

The stench of rotting corpses from the morgue hung over Damaturu Specialist Hospital on Tuesday, where a reporter counted 31 bodies identified as those of extremists.

Details still are trickling in about the attack, which militants began at dusk Thursday on an army barracks 20 kilometers (12 miles) outside Damaturu, the capital, where they overpowered the soldiers, seized an armored car, looted the armory and set the barracks ablaze with improvised explosive devices.

The reports were given to Yobe state Gov. Ibrahim Gaidam by military officers as he toured the destroyed sites with a heavily armed escort on Monday. Journalists accompanying the tour heard the reports.

The attackers then moved down the main road into the city where they rammed the armored car through the gates to the headquarters of the Police Anti-Terrorist Squad. There, they burned down three buildings.

While some of the extremists exchanged fire with the police, the armored car and others in all-terrain pickup trucks and on foot went on to shoot up and set fire to the police Criminal Investigation Department offices and four other police offices scattered across the city until they arrived at the Mobile Police Base, where the armored car caught fire and was abandoned.

The militants went to the hospital where they looted drugs and bandages as the medical staff fled in terror, according to doctors at the hospital.

This account differs from the official version of events that extremists attacked an army checkpoint along the road from Damaturu to Benisheikh — where militants have killed hundreds of civilians in recent weeks — at around 3 a.m. on Friday. A ‘firefight ensued and the insurgents were effectively neutralized,’ according to a statement Monday from the army spokesman in Damaturu, Ibrahim Attahiru.

He said 70 militants were killed there.

‘Fleeing insurgents’ then ‘regrouped to carry out attacks on Damaturu town,’ Attahiru said. Security forces killed another 25 insurgents in the city, he said.

Col. A. O. Abdullahi told the governor that 22 soldiers were killed in the attacks.

A police officer who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak about the incident said eight police officers were killed in the shootout at the mobile base. A reporter who visited the hospital mortuary on Sunday saw 17 bodies in police uniform.” Read more.

The Loop – “A 71-year-old Iranian-born man is facing three criminal charges after bomb-making elements were found inside a passenger’s carry-on luggage at Montreal’s Trudeau International Airport on Sunday.

Antony Piazza, whose name was legally changed from Houshang Nazemi, made a brief court appearance on Monday afternoon.

Piazza’s defence lawyer, Louis Morena, revealed the objects in the carry-on he’s accused of putting through security.

‘They’re talking about bullets, they’re talking about powder, they’re talking about wire, they’re talking about briquette,’ Morena told reporters.

Piazza is facing charges of being in possession of an explosive substance, conspiracy to transport an explosive substance on an airplane, and endangering the safety of an airport or aircraft.

The charges come after airport screening officers spotted a suspicious item in a passenger’s carry-on luggage around 5:40 a.m. on Sunday.

Police shut down the security screening area at the airport’s U.S. departure zone for three hours and interviewed everyone on board the suspect’s U.S.-bound flight. Sixteen flights were delayed as a result.

Police said Monday that the carry-on bag contained “everything” needed to construct a bomb — except the actual explosives.

‘It was different materials It’s the kind of device that when it’s put together, could be part of an explosive device,’ Cmdr. Ian Lafreniere told CTV News.” Read more.

China: Suspected Islamists Attack Tourists In Tiananmen Square With Suicide Car Bomb

By Wang Zhicheng, AsiaNews – “Beijing police suspect that yesterday’s incident – where a car drove into some tourists in Tiananmen Square , and then exploded , killing all passengers – was carried out by Uyghurs suicide terrorists. The incident occurred almost under the large portrait of Mao Zedong that dominates the front of the Imperial Palace , a few dozen meters from Zhongnanhai, home to many leaders.

The incident took place yesterday at noon and in addition to the three people in the car (an SUV ) , killed a further two people, a Chinese man and a Filipino national, leaving 38 injured. Police and firefighters have cordoned off the area from public view.

Today, the English edition of the Global Times, part of the People’s Daily , said that the police have linked the incident with the Xinjiang and some Uyghur suspects . But the Chinese edition does not mention anything about Xinjiang .

Yesterday, all day censors removed any news or comments about the incident from the web, allowing only the official version of Xinhua.

Last night and today the police launched a manhunt to gather information on two Uyghur men and four cars with the Xinjiang license plate. Ilham Tohti , a Uyghur intellectual , writing on the website Uighurbiz.net , pleaded for caution because it is easy to blame the Uyghurs and increase control over the ethnic minority.

The western region of Xinjiang has been shaken by Islamic Uyghur nationalist movements for decades. For the most part they seek greater autonomy from the cultural and commercial dictatorship of the central government that has colonized the region with millions of Han immigrants and hundreds of thousands of soldiers.

The settlement also involves religion: Islam is strongly controlled in Uyghur schools, mosques, and society.” Read more.
