By Rosemary Regina Sobol, Chicago Tribune – “A man threatened to blow up a CTA bus and told police he was ‘jihad against the white devil’ this week, causing evening rush hour passengers to flee in fear for their lives, authorities said.

A judge set bail at $90,000 Tuesday for Caleb Russell, 23, of the 4700 block of South Woodlawn Avenue, who was charged with making a bomb threat, a felony, according to the Cook County sheriff’s office and police.

Russell was aboard a CTA bus that was westbound on Chicago Avenue at Orleans Street in the River North neighborhood Monday about 6:20 p.m. when officers on patrol saw the bus stop in the middle of the intersection, according to a police report.

Several passengers told police that Russell made derogatory and racial remarks and threatened to ‘blow this (expletive) up,’ the report said.

Russell also began yelling racial slurs at responding officers and said he was ‘jihad against the white devil,’ the report said.

After the driver pushed the panic button, numerous passengers who ‘feared for their lives’ exited from the rear and front of the bus, the report said.” Source – Chicago Tribune.

Diving Into Scripture: The Pre-Tribulation Paradox

Proverbs 10:30, “The righteous will never be removed, But the wicked will not inhabit the earth.”

The Apostle Paul was very careful to explain to us that at Christ’s return those who have died in Him are resurrected first, and then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them. The obvious question that we must therefore ask is, “When does the resurrection of the dead in Christ happen?” The answer, which many refuse to acknowledge, is given to us by John in Revelation 20:4-5: The dead in Christ who rise first are caught up in the First Resurrection … after the tribulation. The logical implications of the plain and straightforward teaching of the text are therefore undeniable: If the First Resurrection is after the tribulation then there can be no resurrection before the end of the tribulation, and if there is no resurrection before the end of the tribulation then there is therefore no rapture before the end of the tribulation. It is impossible. Many teachers try to get around this dilemma by somehow imposing “phases” to the First Resurrection, an eisegetical addition which does not even exist in the text and a teaching that — when drawn out to its logical conclusion — essentially contradicts Scripture itself by implying that the rapture takes place before the First Resurrection is even completed, despite the fact that Paul explicitly writes that we who are alive and remain will by no means precede those who are asleep in Christ (1 Thess. 4:15). Obviously, many die in Christ during great tribulation. According to Scripture, the rapture of those who are alive and remain can only happen after tribulation. ‘Doomsday Asteroid’ Apophis To Buzz Past Earth Tonight, Larger Than Previously Thought

By Tariq Malik, Space.com – “A European space telescope has captured new images of the huge asteroid Apophis, revealing that the potentially hazardous object is actually bigger than previously thought — and you have a chance to see the space rock yourself in two free webcasts tonight.

Asteroid Apophis has long been billed as a ‘doomsday asteroid’ because of a 2004 study that predicted a 2.7 percent chance of the space rock hitting Earth when it passes within 22,364 miles of the planet in April 2029, European Space Agency officials said. Later studies proved, however, that the asteroid poses no threat to Earth during that flyby, but astronomers continue to track the object since it will make another pass near Earth in 2036.

Today, ESA officials announced that its infrared Herschel Space Observatory has discovered that Apophis is about 1,066 feet wide, nearly 20 percent larger than a previous estimate of 885 feet.

‘The 20 percent increase in diameter … translates into a 75 percent increase in our estimates of the asteroid’s volume or mass,’ study leader Thomas Müller of the Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics in Garching, Germany, said in a statement.

Tonight’s two free webcasts will stream live views of Apophis from telescopes in Italy and the Canary Islands tonight (Jan. 10). The webcasts, offered by the stargazing websites Slooh Space Telescope and Virtual Telescope Project, will show Apophis as a bright light moving across the night sky. The asteroid is too small to be seen through small backyard telescopes.

The Slooh Space Camera webcast will begin at 7 p.m. EST (0000 Jan. 10 GMT). The Virtual Telescope webcast will begin an hour later at 8 p.m. EST (0100 GMT). You can watch both live webcasts of asteroid Apophis here on SPACE.com tonight.” Read more.

Report: Iran Successfully Builds Nuclear Bomb With Russian And North Korean Help, Has Plutonium For More

By Reza Kahlili, WND – “Iran successfully has built a nuclear bomb with the help of Russia and North Korea and has enough weapons-grade uranium and plutonium for more, according to a source in the Revolutionary Guards intelligence unit.

The source, who has access to Iran’s nuclear program, said the Islamic regime is working out of seven nuclear sites, most unknown to the IAEA, and that its nuclear bomb program is complete.

North Korea has provided the regime with plutonium for nuclear warheads, the source verified, and the last obstacle to overcome is arming missiles with those warheads.

The source, who revealed the existence of the regime’s microbial plant and its effort on biological weapons as published on Jan. 1 by WND exclusively, now has provided information on two of the seven secret sites.

The first is in the town of Khondab near the city of Arak in central Iran where Iran’s heavy-water plant reactor is located, which, once operational, will provide enough plutonium for several bombs just in its first year. Russia: Security Forces Kill Three Islamic Militants Planning Attacks Against Churches

By Steve Gutterman, Reuters – “Russian security forces in a restive North Caucasus province on Sunday killed three militants suspected of planning attacks on church services during the Russian Orthodox Christmas holiday, authorities said.

Security forces tried to stop a van in the Kabardino-Balkaria province on Sunday but its occupants opened fire and were killed in the ensuing battle, during which the vehicle caught fire, the National Anti-Terrorism Committee said in a statement.

It said that explosives, guns and ammunition were found in the van and that the men who were killed had been planning attacks on churches during services marking Russian Orthodox Christmas, which is on Monday.

The statement gave no evidence to support that suspicion and the account could not be verified.

Deadly exchanges of gunfire between police and suspected militants at road checkpoints are common in Russia’s North Caucasus, a string of provinces hit by an Islamist insurgency rooted in two separatist wars in Chechnya.

Kabardino-Balkaria, west of Chechnya, is mostly Muslim but has a sizable Christian minority.” Read more.

Iraq: Christian Teacher Has Throat Cut In Mosul By Suspected Islamists, Plunging City In Fear Again

AsiaNews – “Police in Mosul found the body of a Christian woman with her throat cut. The gruesome discovery was made today in an area where attacks have been perpetrated in the past against members of the city’s Christian minority, some, like abducted Bishop Faraj Rahho and Fr Ragheed Ganni, murdered.

Sources told AsiaNews that the victim is Shdha Elias, a 54-year-old Chaldean, who worked as a teacher ‘in a school in the al Bath neighbourhood.’ She ‘lived however in Bar Nirgal, near the university’. With her death, she joins ‘the long list of Christian martyrs in Mosul.’

For the source, ‘Tensions between Sunnis and Shias are running high across Iraq, not only in the North. And peace and national reconciliation appear far off.’

Mosul is a stronghold of Sunni Wahhabism, which is closely tied to Saudi Arabia. For experts on Iraqi politics, the aim is ‘to set up a state based on Sharia,’ with the Qur’an and the Sunnah as the basis of legislation and ‘Islam as the only state religion’. In such a system, members of other religions can choose between conversion, flight or paying taxes for non-Muslims.

In northern Iraq, Christians have been targeted for murder and kidnapping for the purpose of extortion. They have also been caught in the crossfire between Arabs, Turkmen and Kurds vying for power and control of the area’s rich oil resources.

In ten years of conflict, the Christian community has lost more than half of its members in an exodus of ‘Biblical’ proportions following a series of murders.

A Christian official in Mosul Governatorate, anonymous for security reasons, acknowledged that ‘many Christian families’ have fled. ‘They have lost confidence in everything,’ he said. ‘The government is incapable of doing anything to protect them. Sudan: Islamist Government Still Bombing Christians, ‘The International Community Is So Silent About The Killing’

MorningStarNews – “Non-Arab Christians in Sudan’s Nuba Mountains said they feel forgotten after Sudanese air forces killed at least 11 of the faithful in bombings before and after Christmas, according to area sources.

Following bombings of non-Arab civilians in Christian villages in Sudan’s South Kordofan state from Dec. 18 to Dec. 26, the ethnic Nuba Christians are praying for a change of government in Khartoum, said a church leader from the state who recently visited Juba.

‘We are surprised why the international community is so silent about the killing in South Kordofan,’ said the church leader, who requested anonymity.

On Wednesday (Dec. 26) Sudan’s Russian-made Antonov airplanes dropped nine bombs in Al Dar village in Buram County, killing two Christian women – 70-year-old Kuku Tia and 45-year-old Aisha Tutu Tolodi, the source said. The same attack struck a different Christian village, Um Serdiba in Buram County, where two Christian children were killed instantly, he said. They were identified as Rehab Adam Alfol, 8 and her 4-year-old sister, Najaha Adam Alfol.

According to online news portal Nuba Reports, at 12:30 a.m. of the same day Sudan dropped 12 bombs on Kauda town, wounding pastor Ayube Ibrahim and killing three cows. Nuba Reports, run by aid worker Ryan Boyette, who remained in South Kordofan after his Christian humanitarian organization was forced to evacuate when military conflict escalated last year, reported that four churches in Kauda usually celebrate Christmas for three days starting Dec. 25.

The church leader who spoke to Morning Star News said area contacts reported that in Um Serdiba village on Dec. 23, a Sudanese bomb killed Sholi Jalbor, a Christian civilian whose house was reduced to ashes in the attack.

Intelligence Report: Islamist Extremists Radicalizing Canadians At ‘A Large Number Of Venues’

By Stewart Bell, National Post – “Islamist extremists are now radicalizing Canadians at ‘a large number of venues,’ according to a secret intelligence report released to the National Post under the Access to Information Act.

While mosques with hardline imams are often singled out for spreading violent Islamist ideology, the study found that radicalization has been taking place at a much longer list of locales.

‘Radicalization is not limited to religious centres,’ says the Canadian Security Intelligence Service report, titled Venues of Sunni Islamist Radicalization in Canada.

The heavily censored report identifies the role of prisons, the Internet and foreign travel in turning some Canadians into extremists who wage or support violence. But it also points a finger at the family home.

‘Parents have radicalized children,’ reads the Intelligence Assessment, ‘husbands have radicalized wives (and some wives have radicalized or supported their husbands) … and siblings have radicalized each other,’ it says.

‘As this assessment has demonstrated, a large number of venues have been, and continue to be used to further Islamist extremist ideology. … As radicalization is usually a social process, it can occur wherever humans interact, in the real world or virtual ones,’ it says.

Since al-Qaeda’s attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, an increasing number of Canadians have become lured into Islamist extremism, an intolerant, anti-democratic and virulently anti-Western worldview that preaches that violence against non-Muslims is a religious duty and a path to paradise.” Read more.
