By Arshad Mohammed – “(Reuters) – The United States has decided to resume formal contacts with the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, a senior U.S. official said on Wednesday, in a step that reflects the Islamist group’s growing political weight but that is almost certain to upset Israel and its U.S. backers.

‘The political landscape in Egypt has changed, and is changing,’ said the senior official, who spoke on condition of anonymity. ‘It is in our interests to engage with all of the parties that are competing for parliament or the presidency.’

The official sought to portray the shift as a subtle evolution rather than a dramatic change in Washington’s stance toward the Brotherhood, a group founded in 1928 that seeks to promote its conservative vision of Islam in society.” Read more.

By Jason Burke – “A senior Saudi Arabian diplomat and member of the ruling royal family has raised the spectre of nuclear conflict in the Middle East if Iran comes close to developing a nuclear weapon.

Prince Turki al-Faisal, a former Saudi intelligence chief and ambassador to Washington, warned senior Nato military officials that the existence of such a device ‘would compel Saudi Arabia … to pursue policies which could lead to untold and possibly dramatic consequences’.

He did not state explicitly what these policies would be, but a senior official in Riyadh who is close to the prince said yesterday his message was clear.

‘We cannot live in a situation where Iran has nuclear weapons and we don’t. It’s as simple as that,’ the official said. ‘If Iran develops a nuclear weapon, that will be unacceptable to us and we will have to follow suit.'” Read more.

Isaiah 5:20a, “Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness …”

“If there are two men, and one of them is stronger spiritually, while the other is stronger physically, (the latter) is more beneficial to that nation. In war, for example, the strong man offers his courage, even if he is immoral or licentious. The weak man (only) offers his impotence, even if he is faithful.

Listen to the response of Imam Ahmad (may Allah have mercy on him), for the Shaykh of Islam (i.e. Ibn Taymiyya) based his ruling on this fatwa from his Shaykh, the Shaykh for the Sunnis, Imam Ahmad. Imam Ahmad was asked about two men, who were leaders in a raid. One of them was a strong, immoral man. The other was a weak, righteous man. With which one would he go into battle? Imam Ahmad said: ‘As for the strong, immoral man, his strength benefits the Muslims, while his immorality only hurts himself. But as for the weak, righteous man, his righteousness only benefits himself, while his weakness hurts the Muslims.’ Thus the Imam said he would go to battle with the strong, immoral man. I hope this answer is clear. The Prophet (peace be upon him), said the same thing in the two Sahihs (Muslim and al-Bukhari), ‘Allah will support this religion through an immoral man.'” Source.

Two Muslim men unable to control themselves rape female student in Texas – “Austin Police have arrested two men for raping a woman in West Campus early Sunday morning. Turki Alamri, 32, and Ahmed Alkhamisi, 24, have both been charged with sexual assault. Both men are from Saudi Arabia.” Read more.

“In a report, titled ‘Assad Reform Pledge Will Not Ease Pressure On Regime,’ Oxford Analytica said the Assad regime was unable to control the revolt which has already worsened Syria’s relations with neighboring Iraq, Israel, Lebanon and Turkey.

‘The protests and violence have become endemic and will eventually contribute to regime collapse,’ the report, released on June 20, said.

The report said the unrest has become more violent while opposition groups were working together. Oxford said Assad’s promises of reform and a national dialogue would fail to hamper the opposition.

‘His vague promises are unlikely to have much traction outside the regime’s core support base,’ the report said. ‘The unrest in Syria is intensifying, spreading and becoming more violent.'” Read more.
