India: Muslims Go On Violent Rampage During Protest Of Anti-Mohammed Film In Ahmedabad
City police fired three rounds in the air to disperse the mob. Officials also lobbed more than 30 tear gas shells and lathi-charged the protesters to bring the situation under control. At least 12 people were injured in police lathi-charge.
More than 100 people were arrested for the violence by late evening. This included a woman, Zarina Khan, who had initially sought permission for a rally from the cops, which was turned down. The accused have been booked for attempt to murder and vandalism.
The violence sparked off after a string of bandh calls given by various groups in different parts of the city during the past week. Several minority-dominated parts of Ahmedabad had witnessed spontaneous bandhs and small rallies against the film.
On Wednesday, a large section of the minority community had decided to stage a rally on a much larger scale. However, the city police denied them permission. Upset with the decision, the protesters called for a city-wide bandh…
These twin aspects did not go down well with the bandh and rally supporters who started collecting at the Lal Darwaja in huge numbers at 2 pm.
The city police seemed to have underestimated the threat-perception of this massive gathering. This was evident in the fact that quite a small number of Karanj policemen were posted near Lal Darwaja and they proved to be grossly inadequate to stop the protesters from marching ahead.
At around 3 pm, a huge rally marched to Jama Masjid beyond Teen Darwaja. Outside the ancient mosque people started shouting slogans against the people who had asked the protesters to stay calm. This sparked off more violence…
Ahmedabad: The angry mob refused to budge from in front of the Jama Masjid despite repeated warnings by police. Then city police lathi-charged the protesters. This triggered more violence as the mob retaliated with pelting stones at the cops.
The mob then directed its fury at the Karanj police chowky, close to the women’s station. As the mob started vandalizing the chowky, women officers and other cops fled in fear. The mob then set fire to the furniture and vehicles parked outside…
When the police were busy in crowd control near Teen Darwaja, another group of violent protestors attacked a government vehicle near Relief Cinema and set it ablaze.” Read more.

By Ryan Jones, Israel Today – “Almost baiting Israel to launch a preemptive strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities, the representative of the Islamic Republic’s ‘supreme leader’ to one of its most secretive military forces stated this week that Iran is now just waiting for the right excuse to destroy the Jewish state.
Seemingly contradicting himself, Hojjat al-Eslam Ali Shirazi, Ayatollah Khameini’s liaison to the Qods Force, told reporters that Iran would need just ’24 hours’ to destroy Israel in what he called a ‘war of attrition.’
The Qods Force is a clandestine wing of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards and answers directly to Khameini. It’s primary field of operations is outside Iran’s borders.
Shirazi said he believed Israel was foolish enough to try a preemptive strike on Iran, and that Iran would then use its ‘expertise in fighting wars of attrition’ to bury Israel.
Iran fought an extremely bloody eight-year war of attrition against Iraq for the better part of the 1980s. But, of course, Iran does not share a border with Israel, so any war of attrition between the two states would be carried out largely with air and missile forces, where Israel enjoys a significant advantage, both in quality and numbers.
Meanwhile, the Times of Israel cited unnamed Iranian sources as saying the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program is accelerating.
‘More and more young graduates and people are brought in every day,’ said one source who works at one of Iran’s nuclear facilities. ‘We have been working non-stop.'” Read more.

‘Forest Jihad’: Al-Qaeda Blamed For Recent Series Of Forest Fires Across Europe
AFP – “Al-Qaeda has been blamed for a recent series of forest fires across Europe, as the head of Russia’s Federal Security Service claimed they were set by arsonists as part of the group’s low-cost attack strategy.
‘One should note that setting fires to forests in the countries of the European Union is a new tendency in al-Qaeda’s strategy of a ‘thousand cuts’,’ Alexander Bortnikov said, according to state news agency RIA Novosti, at a meeting of heads of security agencies.
‘This method allows (al-Qaeda) to inflict significant economic and moral damage without serious preliminary preparations, technical equipment or significant expenses.’
In linking al-Qaeda to the deadly wildfires, Mr Bortnikov pointed to calls to launch a ‘forest jihad’ by various extremist websites which he said also publish detailed instructions about how and where to best carry out arson.
He said it was very difficult for special services to find and prosecute such arsonists.
Deadly fires have swept through forest land in EU countries such as Portugal and Spain over the past few months, killing scores of people and forcing thousands to evacuate.
In its continuing campaign against the West, al-Qaeda has vowed to ‘bleed the enemy to death’ by resorting to inexpensive, low-scale attacks it refers to as a ‘strategy of a thousand cuts’.” Source – The Telegraph.

Four Die After Outbreak Of Rare Form Of Meningitis Sickens 26 People In 5 States
Associated Press – “NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — An outbreak of a rare and deadly form of meningitis has now sickened 26 people in five states who received steroid injections, health officials said Wednesday. Four people have died.
Eighteen of the cases are in Tennessee where a Nashville clinic received the largest shipment of the steroid suspected in the outbreak. The drug was made by a specialty pharmacy in Massachusetts that has since issued a recall.
Three cases have been reported in Virginia, two in Maryland, two in Florida and one in North Carolina. Two of the deaths were in Tennessee; Virginia and Maryland had one each, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said.
More new cases are almost certain to appear in the coming days, said Tennessee Department of Health Commissioner John Dreyzehner. Cases in that state began in July and five new cases were confirmed over the past 24 hours, he said Wednesday.
Investigators have been looking into at least three different products used for the back injections that could have been tainted by the fungus that appears to be behind the illnesses. None of the products have been ruled out. However, the primary suspicion is on steroid medication, which is commonly used for back pain.
The Food and Drug Administration identified the maker of the steroid as the New England Compounding Center, a specialty pharmacy in Framingham, Mass. Last week, the company issued a recall of three lots of the steroid. Company officials could not be immediately reached Wednesday afternoon by telephone; the company’s website was unavailable.” Source – Yahoo News.

By Katherine Weber – “Multiple sources have confirmed that about 25 to 30 Christian college students were massacred at a university in northeastern Nigeria late Monday night, causing Christians to pray for a ‘change of heart’ among the extremist Islamist group Boko Haram to put a stop to the continued violence.
While there is speculation as to the motive of the massacre, sources close to the human rights watchdog Open Doors USA confirm that the massacre was performed by Boko Haram.
Emily Fuentes, the communications and public relations coordinator for Open Doors who recently visited Nigeria and spoke to Christian leaders about Boko Haram, told The Christian Post that believers around the world can agree that prayer is the ‘only thing that will change the people of Boko Haram.’
‘There are people who are turning to Christ who used to be in the Boko Haram, and God is changing their hearts,’ Fuentes told CP.
‘A lot of Christians believe that God will change these peoples’ hearts,’ she added.
The killings reportedly occurred in the late night hours on Oct. 1, when masked gunmen went door-to-door in the off-campus housing section of Federal Polytechnic College in Mubi, a city in the remote Adamawa State in northeastern Nigeria.
Open Doors USA sources confirmed that the gunmen separated the Christian students from the Muslim students, addressed each victim by name, questioned them, and then proceeded to shoot them or slit their throat.
‘Open Doors is calling on Christians in the West to bear this horrific burden with our brothers and sisters in Mubi and Adamawa state,’ Open Doors USA spokesman Jerry Dykstra said in a press release emailed to The Christian Post.
‘Nigeria is becoming a killing field,’ he added.” Read more.

AFP – “KABUL — Afghanistan’s senate voted to cut the word ‘friendship’ from a pact with France because Islamic texts say it cannot be used to describe relations between Muslims and infidels, senators said Tuesday.
France, which has seen 88 of its troops killed as part of the NATO coalition backing the Afghan government against Taliban insurgents, signed the 20-year ‘friendship and cooperation treaty’ earlier this year.
‘Some senators said that based on Sharia rulings we cannot use the word friendship with infidels, so after voting the word friendship was replaced with relationship,’ Senator Zahra Sharifi told AFP.
The move, which amounts simply to a recommendation as the senate has the power only to approve or reject the document, not to amend it, apparently embarrassed some senators.
‘We argued, we said that France has been a close friend of Afghanistan for a very long time,’ said Mohammad Alam Ezedyar, who chaired the senate session.
‘Some senators disagreed, but the important thing is that the pact was approved, and will be sent to the foreign ministry.'” Read more.

He quoted sayings of the Prophet Muhammad, spoke of foreign troops humiliating civilians, and ridiculed the corruption that runs through the heart of the government. ‘This anarchy has been created by the West,’ he told GlobalPost. ‘The West is never happy to let Muslims be united.’ Faizani’s views are common among members of the powerful religious establishment here. Gog Of Magog: Destroyed On The Mountains Of Israel?
By Joel Richardson – “In several previous articles, I have argued that the infamous ‘Gog’ and his hordes of Ezekiel 38-39, are one and the same as the Antichrist / Beast figure of the New Testament and other Old Testament passages. Of course, many students and teachers of prophecy disagree with this view. Among the primary arguments used to support the two being distinct, one argument in particular, although widely accepted, is demonstrably not in accord with the greater context of Ezekiel’s language.
This particular argument holds that Gog and his hordes will be killed literally and specifically on the ‘mountains of Israel’, whereas Antichrist and his armies will specifically be killed either in the Valley of Jezreel, near Megiddo, or the valley of Jehoshaphat just outside Jerusalem, depending on who you ask. As such, it is claimed, the two eschatological figures and their armies cannot be the same.
This argument was popularized by Hebrew scholar Arnold Fruchtenbaum in his book, Footsteps of the Messiah. According to Fruchtenbaum, the prophetic/poetic description of the destruction of Gog and his hordes ‘upon the mountains of Israel’, means that they will literally die exclusively on top of the actual mountains of modern day Israel.
Numerous prophecy teachers have since followed Fruchtenbaum’s line of argumentation on this matter. Nathan Jones of Lamb Lion Ministries, for example, says:
The locations described for the two battles [the Battle of Gog of Magog and the Battle of Armageddon] do not match. Armageddon takes place in a valley — the Valley of Jezreel by the plain of Megiddo (Judges 5:19; 2 Kings 23:29; 2 Chron. 35:22; Zech. 12:11). Ezekiel 38:8 describes the Gog-Magog Battle taking place on the mountains — the “mountains of Israel.”

Too Radical For Four More Years: Obama Still Wants To ‘Fundamentally Transform America’

Muslim mobs attack American embassies in 27 countries chanting, ‘Death to America.’ The White House response? A statement blaming the outrages on a filmmaker in the United States, along with apologies to the Muslim world.
The American economy languishes with millions unemployed in the worst times since the Great Depression. Yet the president spends his first years in the White House focusing on a plan to create a trillion-dollar socialized health care system opposed by a majority of Americans. Then he campaigns for re-election on a platform blaming rich Americans for the economic woes.
What’s going on here?
The answer lies in a famous statement the president made on the eve of his election, when he told a crowd of cheering supporters: ‘We are five days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America.’ These are not the words of a traditional, pragmatic-minded American politician. A practical politician attempts to address problems and fix them, not to fundamentally transform an entire nation. Transforming nations is what radicals aspire to do. But Mr. Obama’s actions in the past four years — beginning with putting Obamacare in front of the economic crisis — are nothing if not radical.
Radicals are sometimes referred to as ‘liberals in a hurry.’ They share goals but not means. Both Mr. Obama and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, California Democrat, expressed early sympathy for the Occupy Wall Street movement, whose rage at the American social order quickly turned violent and destructive.

‘Judgment Day Is Coming’: Stock Market May Be Headed For A Rude Shock This Month

For the last three months, investors have been ignoring the weak economic backdrop and plowing money into stocks because of the cheap money swirling from central banks around the world. Investors are searching for yield in an environment of rock bottom rates.
But judgment day is coming.
The fourth quarter has begun and the third-quarter earnings will start to flow, giving us a window on just how anemic the last three months have been in the real economy.
That doesn’t mean the chasing of the highly volatile big performers will let up. But it does mean selectivity when buying stocks will be more important than ever. And the risks of a big sell-off are higher.
Big institutions and other deep pools of capital, such as pension funds, have been playing catch up, chasing stocks even in the face of anemic economic growth, stubbornly high unemployment, and a mess in Europe that has yet to be resolved.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average is up more than 10 percent year to date, 4.3 percent in the third quarter. The S&P 500 index is more than 15 percent year to date, and 5.8 percent in the past quarter, and the Nasdaq Composite Index, the big winner of all is up nearly 20 percent year to date and 6.2 percent in the third quarter.
But as money has flowed into stocks, the backdrop for corporate earnings has worsened. Gross domestic product, the broadest measure of the economy, was revised downward to show a slow 1.3 percent growth versus an earlier estimate of 1.7 percent.
Earnings for the third quarter are seen contracting — S&P Capital IQ is expecting a negative showing for third-quarter numbers, with profits down 1.9 percent. It would be the weakest earnings picture since the second quarter of 2009, smack dab in the middle of the recession.
Revenue is seen growing just 1.4 percent. To put that in context, historically over the last 10 years, revenue has grown some 7 percent.” Read more.

Nigeria: At Least 26 Students Murdered After Suspected Islamists Attack Mubi College With Guns And Knives
The Times of India – “OHIA ABUJA: At least 26 students were killed and several others injured when unidentified gunmen wearing military uniform attacked a hostel in northern Nigeria on Monday.
Gunmen invaded the hostel of Mubi Polytechnic in northern state of Adamawa, killing 26 students, police sources said.
A lecturer told reporters that the number of dead could be as much as 40. He said that the gunmen wore military attire and told the students to identify themselves by name.
According to him, some of them were spared after mentioning their names but no reason was given by the assailants for the identification process.
The invaders used guns and knives in killing the students.
The spokesman of the oil-rich African country’s National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Yushua Shuaib said he cannot say whether the assailants were members of a violent sect that is notorious within the region.
‘I also do not have the total casualty figure but would make it available soon,’ he told PTI.
A curfew has been imposed on the city but that did not deter the frightened students from fleeing the place in droves.
Several killings in the state have been carried out by a Muslim militant sect called Boko Haram which wants to convert the people of northern Nigeriato Islam by force and install a Sharia government.” Read more.
