A Glimmer Of Hope: Bill Maher Exposes The Leftist Islamophobia Ruse For Even Leftists To See

04/26/2013 Leave a comment

Normally, I would affectionately classify Bill Maher as another “lobotomized liberal.” In this case, however, it seems that a small portion of the logical thinking that was removed could now be growing back. Albeit small. Let’s hope a little bit more common sense continues to regenerate …

By William Sullivan, American Thinker – “On Friday’s Real Time program on HBO, Bill Maher hosted an interview with Brian Levin, the director of the Center for Study of Hate and Extremism.  It became clear within thirty seconds that Levin was not attending the religious parity party he had expected.

One can understand why Levin might harbor such expectations.  Maher has a pretty apparent disdain for religious adherents of all stripes.  But in that first thirty seconds, Maher spoke, with a pointedly singular focus, of the hypocrisy we witness in such fanatical terrorists as the Tsarnaev brothers, who bombed the Boston Marathon last week.  ‘If you read what the older brother wrote on his, uh, on the internet,’ Maher began, ‘it says his worldview: Islam.  Personal priorities: career and money.  And we see a lot of this; I mean, the 9/11 hijackers went to strip clubs the night before they got on the plane.’

Two references to notorious acts of Islamic terrorism were enough for Levin.  He interjected by saying that ‘it’s not like people who are Muslims who do wacky things have a monopoly on it.  We have hypocrites across faiths, Jewish, Christian, who say they’re out for God and end up doing not-so-nice things.’

Before he could even finish this rather boilerplate attempt to draw religious equivalency between the ‘not-so-nice things’ religious people do and acts of murder and terror sanctified by Islamic groups, Maher had written him off, replying, ‘You know what, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.  That’s liberal b——- right there.’

Levin, seemingly blindsided, appealed to the fact that Maher’s pointing out hypocrisy in all religion is how he makes his living, but Maher refused to relent.

There’s only one faith that kills you, or wants to kill you, if you draw a bad cartoon of the prophet.  There’s only one faith that kills you, or wants to kill you, if you renounce the faith.  An ex-Muslim is a very dangerous thing.  Talk to Salman Rushdie after the show about Christian versus Islam.  So I’m just saying, let’s keep it real.

This is the moment where Levin’s agenda was exposed, and anti-jihadists like Pamela Geller were thoroughly vindicated, even if not explicitly.  ‘Well,’ Levin dawdled, ‘I guess I have a girl for you, Pam Geller, you could maybe meet,’ in an attempt to be funny.  Maher, confusedly turning to the audience, replied, ‘Uh, I don’t know what that means.’

‘Well, she’s an Islamophobe,’ Levin said.  There it is.  To those in the in the audience who were paying attention, it became pretty apparent that when presented with these uncomfortable facts by someone who cannot readily be denounced as a hateful Islamophobe, the Islamic apologist can do nothing more than reach into his Islamophobia rolodex for an example to get his point across.  And in this case, that example is a figure who is possibly obscure to Maher, and entirely abstract to the conversation.

If Maher could have readily recalled exactly who Pamela Geller is and reference her work, he would likely have explained to Levin that juxtaposing Islamists who would bless the murder of apostates with Pamela Geller, who has never advocated that her readers commit murder, is a silly, slanderous thing to do.  But though Maher didn’t specifically discuss Geller here, he did vindicate her in terms of the anti-jihad message she works to disseminate.  And here’s why.

Spain Arrests 2 Muslim Men Downloading Bomb-Making Information From Internet, Al Qaeda Terror Links Suspected

Birds of a feather plan terror together …

Nou Mediouni and Hassan El Jaaouani

Nou Mediouni and Hassan El Jaaouani

By Al Goodman, CNN – “Spanish police arrested two suspected terrorists with apparent links to an al Qaeda-affiliated group Tuesday but said they had no indication of an imminent attack.

The Interior Ministry identified the suspects as Nou Mediouni, 23, from Algeria, who was arrested in the north-central city of Zaragoza, and Hassan El Jaaouani, 52, from Morocco, who was detained in the southeastern city of Murcia.

Spanish police worked with their counterparts in France and Morocco to carry out the latest arrests, an Interior Ministry statement said.

The two suspects have a ‘profile’ that is similar to the two suspects in the Boston Marathon attacks, the statement said. Interior Minister Jorge Fernandez Diaz told reporters that police consider them ‘lone wolves,’ like the Boston suspects.

However, the similarity is based only on how the two suspects in Spain were ‘radicalized,’ by going to online forums and chat rooms, and also in the suspects’ alleged interest in pulling from the Internet information on bomb-making, said an Interior Ministry spokesman, who by custom is not identified.

The pair, who are from different countries, are not brothers and, unlike the two suspects in the Boston Marathon attacks, have no roots in the Caucasus region, he said.

But Fernandez said one of the suspects recently praised the Boston attacks. A second Interior Ministry spokesman said that was the younger suspect, Mediouni.

Both of the suspects in Spain are unemployed, the second Interior Ministry spokesman said. Mediouni, arrested in Zaragoza, studied computer sciences but had not worked professionally in that field, the ministry statement said.

The two are suspected members of a radical cell close to the terrorist organization al Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb, the Interior Ministry said.” Read more.

Nigeria: 18 More Followers Of Christ Slaughtered By Muslim Attackers In Christian Village Of Mile Bakwai

04/26/2013 2 comments

Morning Star News – “Hosea Mashaf was resting in his village of Chirang Mangor, Nigeria, when area Christian youths told him that armed, Muslim Fulani herdsmen were attacking the Christian village of Mile Bakwai.

The 45-year-old farmer and other Christians rushed to Mile Bakwai, three kilometers away in the Bokkos Local Council Area of Plateau State, the night of March 27 to see how they might aid the Christians there, he told Morning Star News.

‘When we got there, the gunmen had already retreated,’ Mashaf said. ‘I saw dead bodies scattered all over the village. I counted the dead bodies we recovered, and in all we had 18 Christians who were killed by the Muslim attackers.’

They found five of those bodies in a minibus, he said.

‘They were travelling in a bus back to our village when they ran into the attack going on at Mile Bakwai village,’ Mashaf said. ‘They were killed by the attackers when they shot at the bus, which crashed into a building, but the attackers went to the place where the bus was and shot the occupants. Five of them were killed, while two others were injured.’

Dead were Geofrey Mafuyai, 35; Mahana Jamok, 50; Arandon Yusuf, 18; Dung Dalyop, 38; and, Mbata Machif, 36. Maju Mahana, 25, and Nanle Enoch, 18 were wounded and received treatment at the ECWA Evangel Hospital in Jos, he said.

The 18 slain were members of Nigerian Baptist Convention, Christ Apostolic Church and Church of Christ in Nigeria (COCIN) congregations, sources said. The Rev. James Danladi Mahwash of the Bishara Baptist Church in Mile Bakwai village said five of his church members were killed, including the financial secretary of the Men’s Missionary Union of his church, 25-year-old Jamle Benjamin Sunday.

‘At about 8 p.m. the attackers, all Muslim Fulani herdsmen, came into this village in two separate groups, attacking us from two different directions, and shooting down anyone they saw,’ he said. ‘They came from the northwestern end of the village, and then separated into two groups with one of the groups attacking from the western end, while the second group attacked from the eastern end.’

Besides Sunday, Mahwash said, among those killed were Kokiwo Malo, 65; Maren Galadima, 18; Gambo Geofrey Mafuyai, 45; Adamu Maren, 55; Zoron Adamu, 10; Maren Garba, 20; Danladi Mangar, 20; Joel Peter, 20; Boaz Masara, 20; Oge Emeka, 5; and one identified only as Jang from the neighboring village of Kunet.

France: Gunman Claiming Associations With Al-Qaeda Kills Three During Random Shooting Spree In Southern Town

04/26/2013 1 comment

The Local – “A gunman opened fire with a Kalashnikov rifle in the southern French town of Istres on Thursday killing three people.

A 55-year-old woman was also left slightly injured after a bullet grazed her ear and police found a Kalashnikov automatic rifle in a ditch near the scene in the small town near Marseille, police sources said.

“Everything points to him having dumped it there after the shooting,” one said, adding that the suspect was known to police for hoarding military weapons and had a history of psychiatric problems.

One of the victims, a man thought to be in his sixties, was shot dead at the wheel of his car, the other two were male pedestrians, both local men aged 35 and 45 respectively.

A witness to the incident described how the 19-year-old suspect had walked around with his rifle poised ‘as if he was out hunting’ and might easily have killed more people.

‘When a car drove up to him, he raised his rifle and pointed it at the driver. Luckily there was no one on the roundabout ahead and the driver did not stop. That saved his life.’

The shooter was arrested not far from the scene at a roundabout on the road towards Romaniquette beach, near the city of Marseilles.

According to early reports in the French media the gunman opened fire at around 2pm in the middle of a busy street for reasons that are still unclear. He apparently aimed his weapon at people standing outside their homes.

Some reports in the French media suggest he had a history of mental illness but RTL radio station reported the man had claimed to belong to terrorist organisation Al Qaeda.” Read more.

China: At Least 21 Dead After Suspected Islamists Go On Killing Spree In Xinjiang

04/26/2013 1 comment

Reuters – “A confrontation involving axes, knives, at least one gun and ending with the burning down of a house left 21 people dead in China’s troubled far-west region of Xinjiang, a government spokeswoman said on Wednesday, calling it a ‘terrorist attack’.

It was the deadliest violence in the region since July 2009, when Xinjiang’s capital, Urumqi, was rocked by clashes between majority Han Chinese and minority Uighurs that killed nearly 200 people.

Nine residents, six police and six ethnic Uighurs were killed in Tuesday’s drama, said Hou Hanmin, spokeswoman for the Xinjiang government.

It was not immediately clear how many burnt to death.

Hou did not name any group, but China has blamed previous attacks in energy-rich Xinjiang – strategically located on the borders of Afghanistan, Pakistan, India and Central Asia – on Islamic separatists who want to establish an independent East Turkestan.

Many Uighurs, a Turkic-speaking Muslim people native to Xinjiang, chafe at Chinese controls on their religion, language and culture.

Three ‘community workers’ were patrolling a neighborhood of Bachu County, known as Maralbexi by Uighurs, in Kashgar after a tip-off that there were ‘suspicious people’ in a private house, Hou said.

One of the three used a phone to call for help after they found a number of knives, resulting in their being killed by 14 Uighur ‘rioters’ in the house, Hou said.

‘The community people were just conducting regular checks, but the action from the rioters was planned and well prepared,’ Hou said. ‘It’s certainly a terrorist attack.'” Read more.

Boston And The Infantilism Of Jihad Denial

04/26/2013 Leave a comment

By Bruce Bawer, Frontpage Mag – “First of all, I don’t care about the psychology of the Boston jihadists – whether the older one put pressure on the younger one, etc. All we need to know is that they were jihadists, and therefore our enemy. Period.

What I do find myself preoccupied by is the psychology of those Americans who, even before the perpetrators were identified, hoped against hope that they weren’t Muslims – and who, after the perpetrators were identified, were quick to assure us that Islam had nothing to do with it. Or who argued that, even if the brothers were motivated by Islam, that little detail doesn’t matter, and we shouldn’t focus on it.

I’m fascinated by the mindset of those who sought to obscure the vital moral distinctions in this case by waxing philosophical about such matters as the complexity of human character and the power of history. For example, David Remnick, in the New Yorker, described the Tsarnaev family as ‘battered by history…by empire and the strife of displacement, by exile and emigration.’ Many commentators strove mightily to make the case that, in the final analysis, we’re all equally guilty and all equally victims.

Then there’s the repulsive U.N. hack Richard Falk, for whom the lesson of the Boston bombings is that ‘self-scrutiny and mid-course reflections on America’s global role is long overdue.’ There’s been a lot of that going around. And what about those who have preferred to see the brothers not as jihadists but as Chechen separatists, who were driven by an understandable, even noble, antagonism to Russian tyranny (and who had, apparently, somehow mistaken Boston for Moscow)?

And let’s not forget Salon’s Andrew O’Hehir, who insisted on Saturday, the day after the younger Tsarnaev was taken into custody, that ‘we still have no idea what role their religion and national background may or may not have played in motivating the crime.’ These sentences from O’Hehir deserve to be quoted in full:

…it’s not entirely fair to suggest that Americans think one kid killed by a bomb in Boston is worth more than 12 kids killed in Afghanistan. It’s more that we live in a profoundly asymmetrical world, and the dead child in Boston is surprising in a way any number of dead children in Afghanistan, horrifyingly enough, are not. He lived in a protected zone, after all, a place that was supposed to be sealed off from history, isolated from the blood and turmoil of the world. But of course that was a lie.

What, exactly, is O’Hehir doing, or trying to do, here? He’s trying to shift our attention away from the jihadist murder of eight-year-old Martin Richard to children killed in Afghanistan – not the innumerable children killed by jihadists, of course, but those who die as the result of the actions of American soldiers at war. In short, O’Hehir wants to draw our attention away from a jihadist act on U.S. soil to American military actions abroad, the implied idea being that they are more or less comparable – although America’s crimes are, presumably, more extensive and thus more deplorable and more deserving of our attention than those committed by the Tsarnaevs.

O’Hehir doesn’t dare to suggest explicitly that the American military strike was twelve times morally worse than the jihadist act – but he doesn’t have to. The implication is there. Also present is the implication that the act of jihad was perhaps not in fact an act of jihad at all, but rather a (legitimate?) reaction to American acts abroad.

The subject of this passage from O’Hehir isn’t the malice of the jihadists – it’s the mendacity of American officialdom, lying to American citizens about their security. Lost is the fact that until 9/11 America was, in a very real sense, a Read more…

With Common Links In Many Attacks, Obama’s Scrub Of Muslim Terms Draws Heavy Fire

04/26/2013 Leave a comment

Proverbs 12:15a, “The way of a fool is right in his own eyes …”

"Allah la la la la la ...."

“Allah la la la la la ….”

By Rowan Scarborough, The Washington Times – “Before the Boston Marathon bombings, the Obama administration argued for years that there is a big difference between terrorists and the tenets of Islam.

A senior White House aide in 2009 publicly urged Washington to cease using the term ‘jihadist’ — asserting that terrorists are simply extremists. Two years later, the White House ordered a cleansing of training materials that Islamic groups deemed offensive.

Now, some analysts are asking whether the 2009 edict and others that followed have dampened law enforcement’s appetite to thoroughly investigate terrorism suspects for fear of offending higher-ups or the American Muslim lobby.

It is not just the case of Tamerlan Tsarnaev, a radicalized jihadist whom the FBI questioned in 2011 and cleared of terrorism links. At least five Muslims have attempted mass destruction in the U.S. since 2009, undetected beforehand by law enforcement and the intelligence community:

• Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad opened fire at a military recruiting office in Little Rock, Ark., in June 2009, killing one soldier.

• Najibullah Zazi, who said he was a member of al Qaeda, tried to detonate bombs in New York City’s subway in September 2009.

• Army Maj. Nadal Malik Hassan opened fire at a soldier processing center at Fort Hood, Texas, killing 13.

• Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab tried to explode a bomb hidden in his underwear onboard a flight to Detroit in December 2009.

• Faisal Shahzad attempted to detonate a car bomb in Times Square in May 2010.

Steven Emerson runs the Investigative Project on Terrorism, which monitors a network of Islamic groups with ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, whose stated goal is to impose Shariah, or Islamic law, on the world.

‘Numerous experts on Islamic terrorism like myself and I had given 143 lectures at the FBI, CIA were banned from speaking to any U.S. government counterterrorism conferences,’ Mr. Emerson told The Washington Times. ‘Instead, these agencies were ordered to invite Muslim Brotherhood front groups.'” Read more.

Saudi Arabia: ‘Religion Of Peace’ Scholar Calls For The Savage Killing Of Infidel Women And Children

04/26/2013 1 comment

For peaceful purposes. Where is Martin Bashir when you need him to set all of these Islamic scholars and renowned clerics straight? …

ABNA – “The Saudi Wahhabi cleric and the faculty member at the Islamic University of Imam Muhammad bin Saud, Dr. Saad al-Durihim, called Iraqi Mujahideen (al Qaeda terrorist groups) to kill Shiite women and children in order to cause more terror and fear among Iraqi people.

Dr. Saad al-Durihim, in his Twitter called Mujahideen to increase cruelty and murder or even captive women and children to scare more people.

Following the publication of these writings by the Saudi Wahhabi cleric in Twitter, the flood of criticism followed and some even called him a criminal.

In response to these extremist and sectarian expressions, the writer of al-Medina newspaper wrote, I take Allah as witness that really those who insult Islam are not Christians, Jews or Zarathustras but like these extremists who invite to killing and bloodsheds.

The writer in Akkaz newspaer, Abdullah Bin Bakhit, criticized al-Durihim and wrote: ‘When this person go free without any trial, we should not be surprise that terrorists live in Saudi Arabia.'” Read more.

Vienna: Muslims Demonstrate Outside U.S. Embassy In Support Of The ‘Innocent’ Boston Jihad Bombers

04/26/2013 1 comment

Apparently Islamic terrorism is all some sort of strange Western conspiracy and non-existent in the hearts and minds of these “moderates” …

By Robert Spencer, Jihad Watch – “‘We are convinced of the innocence of our brother. There is no evidence that he is guilty. America needs a new enemy.’ Once again we see the Islamic supremacist deflection of responsibility: any evil perpetrated by Muslims anywhere in the world is always, always the fault of someone else. Even the moderates and pseudo-moderates in the U.S. who condemned the Boston bombings disclaimed any need for examining how the texts and teachings of Islam incite to violence and supremacism, and doing anything about that.

‘Wien: Mini-Demo für Boston-Bomber,’ German-language article from Kurier, April 25 (thanks to Christa). Here is a rough translation:

Vienna: mini-demo for Boston BomberAround 40 people demonstrated for the Boston bombers.

Vienna Chechens called upon their compatriots via Facebook to protest outside the U.S. Embassy. They demanded solidarity for the Boston bombers, and solidarity for Muslims and Chechens, because of allegations that the FBI had falsified evidence against the brothers. The “Pro-Tsarnaev” Rally had called for the demonstration via Facebook.

The police went in the afternoon, and assumed that the demo would remain on a small scale. Roadblocks were not planned.

Finally, about 4:30PM, around 40 peaceful demonstrators marched toward a large contingent of police. Men and women demonstrated separately. Among the protesters were both female veil wearers and women in Western dress.

“We are convinced of the innocence of our brother. There is no evidence that he is guilty. America needs a new enemy,” read the Chechens’ signs….”

Pakistan: Christian Family Living In Fear After Islamists Try To Kidnap And Kill Daughter For Refusing To Convert To Islam

04/26/2013 2 comments

By Xavier P. William, BosNewsLife – “A Christian father said Friday, April 26, his family is hiding in the Pakistani city of Lahore after Islamic militants tried to abduct and kill one of his daughters because they refuse to convert to Islam.

Sadiq Masih Zafar told BosNewsLife that the threats come nearly a decade after his family was forced to flee the nearby city of Muridke, where another daughter was nearly strangled to death in 2004 because of their church work.

He said the problems began when the Lahore Church Council appointed him to supervise the construction of a local church building. ‘Religious extremists tried to pressurize and stop the construction and took over the church land,’ he recalled.

‘They demolished the construction and brutally assaulted’ him, family members and even workers, Zafar said. Soon after, ‘A mosque was constructed near the church land and announcements were made that if the church is constructed, they would burn it,’ he added.

The ‘extremists’, he claimed, also pressured him and his family to convert to Islam. He recalled that his daughter Sarwat Naheed was returning home in 2004 from the city of Faisalabad, when she was ‘abducted by masked men.’ …

‘They broke her legs, she had a severe head injury as they tried to strangle her,’ he said. ‘She was found unconscious in the fields.’

Several days later his son Azeem Zafar was allegedly stopped on his way home and ‘assaulted’ as well. Zafer said his family fled Muridke and settled in Lahore, the capital of Punjab province. But the ‘extremists’ didn’t stop looking for them, he recalled.

‘I still remember that on March 27, 2004 [when] the family was sitting together in Bahar colony of Lahore, masked men forcefully entered our home.’

His family moved away to another location in Lahore, but was recently discovered when daughter Asma Tosheeba joined a local medical school, he said.

‘She was threatened and the extremists tried to abduct her.’ He complained that his family has been appealing for protection, but police ‘failed to act’.” Read more.
