Sun Eruption Creates Spectacular Plasma Tentacle

“A NASA spacecraft watching the sun has caught a dazzling view of a solar eruption that launched a vast tendril of magnetic plasma into space.

NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory recorded the sun tentacle, which scientists call a solar prominence, on March 19 as it erupted into space with a rounded, twisting motion.

The eruption occurred over five hours as SDO watched the sun in the ultraviolet range of the light spectrum, SDO mission scientists said in a statement. The solar observatory watched as the prominence twisted up from the sun and expanded, then became unstable.

Ultimately, the sun filament lost cohesion and its particles streamed away from the sun.”  Read more.

Muslims Seeking to Occupy Europe’s ‘Empty’ Churches to Pray Their Friday Prayers

03/26/2011 Leave a comment

Let’s ask them if Christians can use their empty mosques on Sunday to worship Jesus and see the response they give.  This may not be ‘radical Islam’ per se, but it is a ‘radical’ idea that every Christian should be against.  This is only asking for trouble …

“Rome (AsiaNews) – A Muslim group has asked to use the empty churches in France for Muslims to pray in, solving (at the expense of Christians) the traffic problems caused by Muslims who pray in the streets. Fr. Khalial Samir Samir, an expert scholar of Islam, reflects on the embarrassing proposal, calling for Islam in Europe to become more ‘European’ and less ‘Arab’.

In a press release published Friday, March 11, 2011, the ‘Banlieuses Respect’ Collective asked authorities in charge of organization of the Church of France, to place at Muslims’ disposal ’empty churches for Friday prayers’. Hassan M. Ben Barek, a spokesman for the Collective, said the measure would ‘prevent Muslims from having to pray on the streets’ and being ‘politicians’ hostages’.

In fact, for several years now, every Friday, alongside dozens of mosques in France, Muslims have blocked the surrounding streets for an hour or two, spreading mats on the roads to pray. In many cases, local authorities close their eyes to this offense, and in some cases the police are there to ensure the safety of those who block the streets. This situation is on the rise in France (for example, Lyon, Marseille, Montpellier. Montreuil, Nice, Paris, Puteaux, Strasbourg, Torcy …). A situation that is found all over the world (Athens, Brussels, Birmingham, Cordova, Moscow, New York …) and also in Italy (Albenga, Canicattì, Como, Gallarate, Milan, Modena, Moncalieri, Naples, Rome …). In the Muslim world this phenomenon is present, especially in Egypt. On 10 December, in Lyon, Marine Le Pen (National Front) denounced the Muslims ‘street prayers’, which led to negative reactions towards the Muslim community in France.”  Read more.

Muslims Attack Christian in Egypt, Cut Off His Ear

03/26/2011 Leave a comment

“(AINA) — A group of Muslims attacked Ayman Anwar Mitri, a 45 year old Christian Coptic man in the Upper Egyptian town of Qena, cutting off his ear. The Muslims claimed they were applying Sharia law because Mr. Mitri allegedly had an illicit affair with a Muslim woman. The Muslims called the police and told them ‘We have applied the law of Allah, now come and apply your law,’ according to Mr. Mitri in an interview for the Egyptian Human Rights Organization.

Mr. Mitri, a low grade administrator at a secondary school, from elHasweya, in Qena, 492 KM from Cairo, had rented his flat to two Muslim sisters, Abeer and Sabrin Saif Al-Nasr, through an agent. After nine months he learned the sisters had been indicted for prostitution, so he asked them to leave and they did.

On Sunday, March 20 Mr. Mitri was informed by a friend via a phone call at 4 AM that the flat where the Muslim sisters lived was on fire; he went to the flat. While waiting in the torched flat a Muslim named Alaa el Sunni came and berated him for renting his flat to prostitutes. ‘I tried to calm him down,’ said Mr. Mitri, ‘and told him I knew nothing about the two women since they came through an agent.’ Alaa suggested they would go somewhere quiet to clear the misunderstanding. They went to the flat of Mr. Mitri’s friend Khaled, a policeman, where 12 Muslims were waiting for him. They started beating him and saying ‘We will teach you a lesson, Christian’…”  Read more.

  • (C) ReutersHooded anarchists throw paint and set off flares on Oxford Street
  • Police targeted with missiles and light bulbs filled with ammonia
  • Windows at The Ritz smashed as masked youths run wild
  • Anti-capitalist smash banks and cash points in city centre rampage
  • Five police officers injured in clashes, one seriously
  • Labour leader Ed Miliband likens protest to anti-apartheid movement

Anarchists today broke away from one of the largest protests Britain has ever seen to bring chaos to the streets of London.

The Ritz hotel and Fortnum & Mason were among the buildings targeted in the capital after groups of rampaging youths intent on spreading havoc left the mass anti-cuts demonstration.

Around 500,000 activists and campaigners descended on London this morning to protest at the Government’s drastic cuts programme.

But while the main march and rally in Hyde Park, which was addressed by Labour leader Ed Miliband, remained peaceful, splinter groups of anarchists went wild.” By By IAN GALLAGHER and GEORGE ARBUTHNOTT.  Read more.

Libyan Rebel Commander Admits His Fighters Have al-Qaeda Links

03/26/2011 1 comment

Can’t say I’m surprised.

“By Praveen Swami, Nick Squires and Duncan Gardham – In an interview with the Italian newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore, Mr al-Hasidi admitted that he had recruited ‘around 25’ men from the Derna area in eastern Libya to fight against coalition troops in Iraq. Some of them, he said, are ‘today are on the front lines in Adjabiya’.

Mr al-Hasidi insisted his fighters ‘are patriots and good Muslims, not terrorists,’ but added that the ‘members of al-Qaeda are also good Muslims and are fighting against the invader’.

His revelations came even as Idriss Deby Itno, Chad’s president, said al-Qaeda had managed to pillage military arsenals in the Libyan rebel zone and acquired arms, ‘including surface-to-air missiles, which were then smuggled into their sanctuaries’.”  Read more.

Reporting by Ivana Sekularac, editing by Jane Baird “AMSTERDAM, March 25 (Reuters) – Dutch authorities said on Friday they will cull about 127,500 egg-laying hens on a farm in the south of the country after the H7 bird flu strain was detected.

The virus was reported at a farm in the village Schore in Zeeland province, around 170 kilometres south-west of Amsterdam near the border with Belgium, the Dutch ministry for economic affairs, agriculture and innovation said in a statement.

Authorities imposed a ban on transporting poultry and eggs in an area of 1 kilometre around the farm, the statement said.

The government said more tests will be conducted to indicate whether the H7 strain was low-pathogenic or a more dangerous high-pathogenic strain. The results will be available later on Friday.”  Read more.

Gagging Order on Scientists Probing Dolphin Deaths as U.S. Builds Criminal Case Against BP

03/26/2011 Leave a comment

“By DAILY MAIL REPORTER – Scientists probing the deaths of baby dolphins in the area affected by last year’s BP oil spill have been ordered by the government not to speak about the project.

Wildlife biologists who have been contracted by the National Marine Fisheries Service to investigate a huge rise in dolphin mortality this year must keep their findings confidential.

The gagging order was imposed because the review of the deaths is part of the federal criminal investigation into last year’s BP disaster.

A letter sent out to senior scientists who are not working on the project and are baffled by the silence, said: ‘Because of the seriousness of the legal case, no data or findings may be released, presented or discussed outside the investigative team without prior approval.’

About 90 dolphins died last year, but this year the toll has jumped to 200 already.” Read more.

Beetles Take Over Surfers Paradise

By Jessica Johnston, “THOUSANDS of beetles are swarming Surfers Paradise in a never before seen phenomenon that has stumped local scientists.

The water beetle invasion captured on amateur youtube footage shows the large black beetles swarming around lights and dropping to the footpath on The Esplanade last night.

Griffith University entomologist Professor Clyde Wild said he had no definitive explanation for the rare phenomenon.

‘I’ve never seen swarms of these like this before, why they are at the beach front escapes any explanation I can think of,’ Prof Wild said.”  Read more.

Lost in Translation: ‘Not Appointed Unto Wrath’ – What Scripture Is Really Saying

03/26/2011 139 comments

By ICA

1 Thessalonians 5:9, “For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ …”

Buy a book written by virtually any popular Bible prophecy teacher today and you are guaranteed — at some point within the confines of its pages — to read a sentence or two that sounds a little something like this: “The Bible says that we are not appointed unto wrath, which means that Christians are not destined to suffer the wrath of God. Since the Tribulation is the wrath of God the Church must therefore be removed from the earth before the Tribulation begins. Otherwise, the Bible is lying.” You get the idea. It sounds reasonable, right? Because if the premisses are true then the conclusion must be sound, correct? In theory, yes, but only if all of the premisses are true. So allow me, if I may, to take a closer look at the “not appointed unto wrath” proposition that leads many of us to conclude “removal from the earth”, and join me as together we delve a little bit more into the text in an effort to better understand the wrath that we see in the Book of Revelation, and the wrath that we specifically are not appointed unto. Something very, very important has been lost in translation. Read more…
