YouTube Employing Extra Staff to Tackle al-Qaeda Hate Videos
By Emma Barnett, Digital Media Editor in San Francisco, “YouTube, the video- sharing site owned by Google, is employing additional people to help review content before and after it goes live, following a spate of al-Qaeda videos which it was forced to take down.
Eric Schmidt, the chief executive of Google, said that the company was ‘adding people to do reviews of videos’ as it is very hard algorithmically to monitor inappropriate comment. Talking to a small group of journalists at the Web 2.0 Summit in San Francisco, he went further and said that it was “impossible” to monitor 100 per cent of the content the site receives, which is why YouTube has to rely upon a mixture of algorithm-driven detection and its community to report inappropriate content.
The question whether YouTube needs to be more proactively edit the video-sharing site, to which 35 hours of content are uploaded to per minute, has come to the fore following the removal of several al-Qaeda videos which promoted violence.” Read more.
Yellow Rain Falls In Tokyo? Pollen Excuse Exact Same As Chernobyl Yellow Rain Lie
“While the Japanese government continues to say that the yellow rain seen in Japan was simply ‘pollen,’ many have been reminded of a very similar occurrence after the Chernobyl nuclear disaster.
Almost on que, the Japan Meteorological Agency has confirmed the rain to be pollen after receiving hundreds of calls from concerned citizens.
The ‘’yellow rain’ seen Wednesday in the Kanto region surrounding Tokyo was caused by pollen, not radioactive materials as many residents had worried, the Japan Meteorological Agency said Thursday, reported the Japan Times.
That’s right, according to so called experts, enough pollen to cause hundreds to report their findings, rained down on Tokyo at the same time as a devastating nuclear disaster has released high levels of radiation at least 20km from the nuclear plant.
This explanation has reminded many of the yellow rain that hit after the Chernobyl disaster.
Similar to the explanation in Japan, government officials claimed that the yellow radioactive rain that fell in Gomel, Belarus was merely pollen and nothing to worry about. We now know that was a bold faced lie.

Islamist Group Is Rising Force in a New Egypt
“By MICHAEL SLACKMAN – CAIRO — In post-revolutionary Egypt, where hope and confusion collide in the daily struggle to build a new nation, religion has emerged as a powerful political force, following an uprising that was based on secular ideals. The Muslim Brotherhood, an Islamist group once banned by the state, is at the forefront, transformed into a tacit partner with the military government that many fear will thwart fundamental changes.
It is also clear that the young, educated secular activists who initially propelled the nonideological revolution are no longer the driving political force — at least not at the moment.
As the best organized and most extensive opposition movement in Egypt, the Muslim Brotherhood was expected to have an edge in the contest for influence. But what surprises many is its link to a military that vilified it.
‘There is evidence the Brotherhood struck some kind of a deal with the military early on,’ said Elijah Zarwan, a senior analyst with the International Crisis Group.” Read more.
Japan Extending Evacuation Zone Around Fukushima Nuclear Plant
“By HIROKO TABUCHI, KEITH BRADSHER and DAVID JOLLY – TOKYO — Japanese officials began encouraging people to evacuate a larger swath of territory around the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant on Friday as new signs emerged that parts of the crippled facility are so damaged and contaminated that it will be hard to bring the plant under control soon.
The authorities said that they would now assist people who want to leave the area from 12 to 19 miles outside the plant and that they were now encouraging ‘voluntary evacuation’ from the area. Those people had been advised March 15 to remain indoors, while those within a 12-mile radius of the plant had been ordered to evacuate.
The United States has recommended that its citizens stay at least 50 miles away.” Read more.
Nearly One Million Ivorians Uprooted by Conflict: UNHCR
“By Stephany Nebehay – GENEVA (Reuters) – Up to one million Ivorians have now fled fighting in the main city Abidjan alone, with others uprooted across the country, the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) said on Friday as violence escalated in a 4-month power struggle.
Hours ahead of a U.N. Security Council debate, France announced it had submitted a draft U.N. resolution banning the use of heavy weapons in Abidjan. The United Nations has accused forces loyal to incumbent Laurent Gbagbo of such attacks, which his camp strenuously denies.
‘The massive displacement in Abidjan and elsewhere is being fuelled by fears of all-out war,’ UNHCR spokeswoman Melissa Fleming told a news briefing in Geneva.
‘Available estimates are that between 700,000 and one million could now be displaced,’ Fleming told reporters.” Read more.
Who Dill Defend Christians in Egypt?

Since then, the promise of Christian-Muslim unity has given way to religiously-motivated attacks on Egypt’s large Coptic Christian community, which is estimated to have ten million members…
For decades, the Egyptian government has openly persecuted Christians. For example, says Bashir, the country’s security services have interfered in Coptic affairs, obstructing the basic maintenance of churches and blocking building permits for new churches.
Islamic terrorists are an even greater threat to Coptic Christians.
In the aftermath of the bloody New Year’s Day bombing of a Coptic church at Alexandria, Egypt, which killed 23 people, Canada’s Coptic community, which has itself been threatened with violence by al Qaida, publicly demanded that Egypt protect their co-religionists.
‘Unfortunately, the situation is quickly getting worse,’ says a Canadian Coptic activist, who cannot be identified in order to protect loved ones still living in Egypt.” Read more.
Up to 4,000 Fishermen from Pyapon Missing in Storms
Myo Thein – “New Delhi (Mizzima) – Around 4,000 fishermen from the Pyapon area may have lost their lives in vicious storms that struck Irrawaddy Division last week, according to Win Kyaing, the general secretary of the Myanmar Fisheries Federation.
Win Kyaing said in a meeting held by the Myanmar Fisheries Federation on Tuesday that the 4,000 fishermen represent about 2,000 fishing rafts that were lost in storms from March 14 to 17, according to a reporter who attended the meeting.
The number of dead or missing is difficult to determine, said authorities.
‘His estimation of the missing is based on the total number of rafts. There are about 1,500 registered rafts and 500 unregistered rafts [in the area]. A raft can carry around three people each. That’s why he estimated that more than 4,000 people are missing’, the reporter said. The rafts are manned by fisherman who go out daily to catch fish and work their nets.” Read more.

This superbug happens to be a ‘deadly bacteria thought to be resistant to all known remedies.’ And it’s here. In Los Angeles. The Daily Breeze explains that the superbug is technically ‘a multiresistant form of Klebsiella pneumoniae, also known as CRKP,’ which “was formally thought to be contained to the East Coast.” Thanks a lot, East Coast!
To date, 365 cases of CRKP have been found in Los Angeles County, with most of the cases being ‘elderly patients at skilled nursing facilities and long-term care facilities.’ No, you’re not in the clear: ‘[L]ab results also show a small percentage of cases at acute care hospitals.’
The superbug is serious … deadly serious. Doctor and infectious disease expert Brad Spellberg admits CRKP has killed patients at County Harbor-UCLA Medical Center near Torrance. Because it is resistant to all antibiotics, treating it is a gamble. Spellberg describes the treatment process: ‘We’re at the point with some of this (resistant bacteria) that we’re just mixing a bunch of crap together, throwing it at the patient and crossing our fingers.'” Read more.
North Korea’s Food Stocks Running Dry, 24 Million People at Risk of Starvation

The UN World Food Programme, which resumed sending food aid to North Korea in 2006, blamed flooding, foot-and-mouth disease, and an unusually cold winter for devastating food supplies to the country.

Netanyahu: Israel Ready to React With ‘Great Force’ Against Islamists in Gaza
By Dan de Luce “CAESAREA, Israel — Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told US Defence Secretary Robert Gates on Friday that Israel is ready to act with “great force” in response to a spate of rocket fire by Gaza militants and a deadly bus bombing in Jerusalem.
Israel had been ‘subjected to bouts of terror and rocket attacks,’ Netanyahu told reporters before going into a meeting with Gates.
‘We stand ready to act with great force and great determination to put a stop to it,’ he added, with police saying Israel had not been hit by any projectiles Friday morning.
Netanyahu said he had received a ‘very warm’ telephone call from US President Barack Obama on Thursday expressing his condolences after the latest flare-up in violence.
‘Any civilised society will not tolerate such wanton attacks on its civilians,’ he said.” Read more.
Japan Official: Fukushima Reactor No. 3 with MOX Fuel May Be Breached and Leaking Radioactive Material

By the CNN Wire Staff – “Tokyo (CNN) — Authorities in Japan raised the prospect Friday of a likely breach in the all-important containment vessel of the No. 3 reactor at the stricken Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant, a potentially ominous development in the race to prevent a large-scale release of radiation.
Contaminated water likely seeped through the containment vessel protecting from the reactor’s core, said Hidehiko Nishiyama of the Japan nuclear and industrial safety agency.
Three men working inside the No. 3 reactor stepped into water this week that had 10,000 times the amount of radiation typical for that locale, Nishiyama said. That water likely indicates ‘some sort of leakage’ from the reactor core, signaling a possible break of the containment vessel that houses the core.” Read more.
