One Nation Under Siege: Pentagon Confirms It May Court Martial American Soldiers Who Share Their Christian Faith

05/01/2013 7 comments

Classifying evangelical Christianity and Catholics as extremists isn’t enough. Tip of the hat to otcaaron for the link …

By Ken Klukowski, Breitbart – “The Pentagon has released a statement confirming that soldiers could be prosecuted for promoting their faith: ‘Religious proselytization is not permitted within the Department of Defense…Court martials and non-judicial punishments are decided on a case-by-case basis…’.

The statement, released to Fox News, follows a Breitbart News report on Obama administration Pentagon appointees meeting with anti-Christian extremist Mikey Weinstein to develop court-martial procedures to punish Christians in the military who express or share their faith.

(From our earlier report: Weinstein is the head of the Military Religious Freedom Foundation, and says Christians–including chaplains–sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ in the military are guilty of ‘treason,’ and of committing an act of ‘spiritual rape’ as serious a crime as ‘sexual assault.’ He also asserted that Christians sharing their faith in the military are ‘enemies of the Constitution.’)

Being convicted in a court martial means that a soldier has committed a crime under federal military law. Punishment for a court martial can include imprisonment and being dishonorably discharged from the military.

So President Barack Obama’s civilian appointees who lead the Pentagon are confirming that the military will make it a crime–possibly resulting in imprisonment–for those in uniform to share their faith. This would include chaplains—military officers who are ordained clergymen of their faith (mostly Christian pastors or priests, or Jewish rabbis)–whose duty since the founding of the U.S. military under George Washington is to teach their faith and minister to the spiritual needs of troops who come to them for counsel, instruction, or comfort.

This regulation would severely limit expressions of faith in the military, even on a one-to-one basis between close friends. It could also effectively abolish the position of chaplain in the military, as it would not allow chaplains (or any service members, for that matter), to say anything about their faith that others say led them to think they were being encouraged to make faith part of their life. It’s difficult to imagine how a member of the clergy could give spiritual counseling without saying anything that might be perceived in that fashion.

In response to the Pentagon’s plans, retired Lt. Gen. Jerry Boykin, who is now executive vice president of the Family Research Council (FRC), said Read more…

A Kingdom Divided: Sunni Rebels In Syria Issue Warning Against Shiite Hizbullah After Nasrallah Vows To ‘Not Allow Syria To Fall’ To Apostate Sunnis

Daniel 2:41, “Whereas you saw the feet and toes, partly of potter’s clay and partly of iron, the kingdom shall be divided; yet the strength of the iron shall be in it, just as you saw the iron mixed with ceramic clay.”

INN – “The Syrian opposition on Wednesday denounced threats from the head of Hizbullah and warned the Lebanese Shiite group against any intervention in the Syrian conflict.

‘The Syrians and the Lebanese hoped… that the Hizbullah leadership would stop their attacks on Homs and Damascus and take into account the gravity of the situation in the region,’ the Syrian National Coalition said in a statement, according to the AFP news agency.

‘But they heard nothing but threats… and warnings against setting the region on fire and an admission of their interference in Syrian affairs,’ the key opposition grouping said.

Hizbullah chief Hassan Nasrallah acknowledged on Tuesday evening that members of his group are fighting inside Syria and suggested Iran and other states could intervene to support the Syrian regime against rebel fighters.

President Bashar al-Assad has ‘true friends in the region who will not allow Syria to fall into the hands of the United States, Israel and ‘takfiri’ groups,’ he said, according to AFP.

‘If the situation gets more dangerous, states, resistance movements and other forces will be obliged to intervene effectively in the confrontation on the ground,’ he added.

‘You will not be able to bring down the regime militarily,’ Nasrallah told Syria’s rebel forces. ‘The battle is still long.’

The Syrian opposition has long accused Hizbullah of dispatching fighters to battle alongside government forces, and the Coalition called on the Lebanese government ‘to immediately put an end to Hezbollah military operations in the regions close to the Syrian border.'” Source – INN.

Three More Suspects Arrested In Boston Bombing Case As Saudi Arabia Reveals It Warned US Of Tsarnaev, ‘Something Was Going To Happen’

05/01/2013 4 comments

Not only did Saudi Arabia reportedly warn the United States about the threat that the elder Tsarnaev brother posed and that “something was going to happen in a major U.S. city”, they even deemed Tamerlan Tsarnaev too “radical” to visit Mecca for the annual Hajj pilgrimage. This is a monumental epic failure on the part of “Homeland Security” …

Update: The Saudi ambassador in Washington is now denying that they warned America about Tsarnaev …

MyFoxBoston – “Three new suspects have been taken into custody in the Boston Marathon bombings investigation, the Boston Police Dept. tweeted Wednesday morning.

The new suspects are expected to be charged with providing some sort of assistance to the two main suspects, sources told Fox News. It was not immediately known when the suspects were taken into custody.

Boston police said there was no immediate danger to the public and referred further questions to the FBI.

The development comes as investigators have continued to scrutinize two of Dzhokhar Tsarnaev’s classmates at UMass-Dartmouth.

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev’s alleged associates are natives of Kazakhstan and have already been detained by U.S. immigration officials for alleged immigration violations.

Azamat Tazhayakov and Dias Kadyrbayev were in federal immigration court earlier Wednesday morning on those matters, a government source said; however, the court hearing was delayed.

Authorities were not immediately saying who the three detained were or if Tsarnaev’s two classmates were part of the new group of suspects.

An attorney for Kadyrbayev has told media outlets that the two young men have been interviewed by FBI agents and that they were cooperating.

The Boston Police Dept. broke the news in a tweet, writing, ‘Three additional suspects taken into custody in Marathon bombing case. Details to follow.'” Read more.

New Boston Suspects Drove Car With ‘Terrorista #1′ License Plate – “Two suspects who have been taken into custody in connection with the Boston Marathon bombings drove a car with ‘Terrorista #1’ license plates. Azamat Tazhayakov and Dias Kadyrbayev were reportedly arrested, along with one other person, for allegedly making false statements and obstructing justice during the federal investigation into Boston Marathon bombing suspects Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, officials said Wednesday. Tazhayakov and Kadrbayev, who are reportedly in FBI custody, drove around in a black BMW with ‘Terrorista #1’ license plates and were also photographed with Dzhokhar Tsarnaev in Times Square.” Read more.

Tamerlan Tsarnaev Was Too Radical Even For Saudi Arabia, US Warned In Writing About Possible Terror Connections And That ‘Something Was Going To Happen In A Major U.S. City’ – “The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia sent a written warning about accused Boston Marathon bomber Tamerlan Tsarnaev to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in 2012, long before pressure-cooker blasts killed three and injured hundreds, according to a senior Saudi government official with direct knowledge of the document. The Saudi warning, the official told MailOnline, was separate from the multiple red flags raised by Russian intelligence in 2011, and was based on human intelligence developed independently in Yemen. Citing security concerns, the Saudi government also denied an entry visa to the elder Tsarnaev brother in December 2011, when he hoped to make a pilgrimage to Mecca, the source said. Tsarnaev’s plans to visit Saudi Arabia have not been previously disclosed. The Saudis’ warning to the U.S. government was also shared with the British government. ‘It was very specific’ and warned that ‘something was going to happen in a major U.S. city,’ the Saudi official said during an extensive interview. It ‘did name Tamerlan specifically,’ he added.” Read more.

Sudan: Christian Persecution Intensifying, Authorities Threaten To Bury Christians Alive During Interrogations

05/01/2013 3 comments

Meanwhile, instead of condemning the atrocities, the Obama Administration is laying down the red carpet for Sudan’s genocidal leaders in Washington for talks

Morning Star News – “Sudan has stepped up its arrests and deportations of Christians, with interrogation including threats to bury them alive, sources said.

Besides the deportation to South Sudan of the secretary general of the Sudan Catholic Bishops’ Conference on April 12, other Christians have been targeted in the past several weeks for arrest, interrogation and/or deportation. On April 21, as a South Sudanese church elder was worshiping at a Sunday service in Khartoum, officials from the National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS) detained him to pump him for information, the elder told Morning Star News.

Authorities questioned him for four hours before releasing him, he said.

‘They told me to reveal to them 12 names of Christians who are active in evangelism in Sudan, but I told them I have no idea,’ said the elder, whose name is withheld for security reasons.

The right to manifest one’s faith is a key provision of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, to which Sudan is a signatory.

NISS officials have required staff members of a university campus-based ministry to report to them weekly following their arrest on Feb. 23; initially they were held and interrogated for a week, one said.

‘The security officers verbally threatened to bury us alive if we did not give information on who was supporting these Christian activities,’ the Christian worker said.

After the Christian workers were released, for two weeks security officials ordered them to report to NISS offices on a daily basis for interrogation about links with Christian organizations, said the worker, whose organization name is withheld for security reasons. NISS officials confiscated the organization’s equipment, vehicle and documents. They also went to the home of organization members and took academic papers, laptops, digital cameras, mobile phones and iPads, among other personal belongings, he said.

Authorities deported three of the group’s workers to South Sudan in March after monitoring their movements and telephone calls, another member told Morning Star News.

‘They gave me only 72 hours to leave the country,’ the Christian worker said. ‘They came to my house while I was away and took five laptops of my sisters, as well as my documents, identity cards, school documents and mobile phone. I thank God that He has been with me during the interrogation with the Security.'” Read more.

Syria: Obama Moving Toward Sending Lethal Weapons To Rebels While ‘Nowhere In Rebel-Controlled Syria Is There A Secular Fighting Force To Speak Of’

05/01/2013 2 comments

Meh. Despite the atrocities these rebels have committed, they’re reflective and representative enough of the Syrian population… right? …

Proverbs 22:24-25, “Make no friendship with a man given to anger, nor go with a wrathful man, lest you learn his ways and entangle yourself in a snare.”

By Karen DeYoung, The Washington Post – “President Obama is preparing to send lethal weaponry to the Syrian opposition and has taken steps to assert more aggressive U.S. leadership among allies and partners seeking the ouster of President Bashar al-Assad, according to senior administration officials.

The officials said they are moving toward the shipment of arms but emphasized that they are still pursuing political negotiation. To that end, the administration has launched an effort to convince Russian President Vladimir Putin that the probable use of chemical weapons by the Syrian government — and the more direct outside intervention that could provoke — should lead him to reconsider his support of Assad.

But Obama, who spoke by telephone with Putin on Monday and is sending Secretary of State John F. Kerry to Moscow in the coming days, is likely to make a final decision on the supply of arms to the opposition within weeks, before a scheduled meeting with Putin in June, the officials said.

Confirmation that the Assad government has used chemical weapons, Obama said Tuesday, would mean that ‘there are some options that we might not otherwise exercise that we would strongly consider.’…

Yet even as Obama voiced caution in responding to what he has called the ‘red line’ on chemical weapons, the senior officials described him as ready to move on what one described as the ‘left-hand side’ of a broad spectrum that ranged from ‘arming the opposition to boots on the ground.’

‘We’re clearly on an upward trajectory,’ the senior official said. ‘We’ve moved over to assistance that has a direct military purpose.'” Read more.

‘Nowhere In Rebel-Controlled Syria Is There A Secular Fighting Force To Speak Of’ – ” In Syria’s largest city, Aleppo, rebels aligned with Al Qaeda control the power plant, run the bakeries and head a court that applies Islamic law. Elsewhere, they have seized government oil fields, put employees back to work and now profit from the crude they produce. Across Syria, rebel-held areas are dotted with Islamic courts staffed by lawyers and clerics, and by fighting brigades led by extremists. Even the Supreme Military Council, the umbrella rebel organization whose formation the West had hoped would sideline radical groups, is stocked with commanders who want to infuse Islamic law into a future Syrian government. Nowhere in rebel-controlled Syria is there a secular fighting force to speak of.” Read more.

Is Al Qaeda Our New Peace Partner In Syria? – “Would you help Al Qaeda fighters attempt take over a chemical weapons plant? President Barack Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry essentially just did. Fortunately, the armed insurgents were stopped just a mile from the compound after vicious fighting. It would have been unthinkable in the months and years after Sept. 11 that our leadership in Washington would be actively helping al Qaeda and other radical Islamic fighting forces secure oil fields in Syria, conquer chemical weapons plants and eventually the country. But that’s exactly what we are doing.” Read more.
