CBS Minnesota – “FRIDLEY, Minn. (WCCO) – In broad daylight, and within full view of a busy stretch of East River Road, a group of seven young men struck two joggers totally at random.

The joggers were out for a Sunday run near East River Road and 37th Avenue North when each one was suddenly and viciously punched by the group.

Lt. Mike Monsrud, of Fridley Police, says attacks like these are rare.

The victims said their attackers demanded no money and said few words before striking. The attacks, according to Monsrud, appear to be unprovoked.

The first attack occurred around 3:25 p.m. Sunday afternoon, followed by the second incident in the same general area about 20 minutes later. Police said one man suffered a bloody nose in the attack and the other has a sore throat.

‘Without talking to them (the attackers), we have no idea what motivated them. It does not appear to be robbery or any other means to a greater crime,’ Monsrud added…

Police say this is the first incident of this nature that’s been reported along the jogging path. Authorities said the suspects are described of a group of six to seven Somali men, but did not have any more information.” Read more.

Abdullah Mohammad Al Dawood, who writes self-help books including one called The Joy of Talking, has stirred fierce debate this week via the internet microblogging service with the use of the hashtag harass_female_cashiers, to press for Saudi women to be forced to stay at home to protect their chastity.

His campaign against official moves to encourage women to work in mixed gender environments has led some Twitter users to denounce him. Others however applauded him as a fighter against government efforts to westernise and corrupt the country.

The Express Tribune – “HANGU: The process of administrating polio drops to children was suspended in Hangu’s area of Tal after people in the area pelted the polio team with stones injuring a female polio worker, reported Express News on Wednesday.

The injured polio worker Zohra Khatoon had been shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. She was discharged upon receiving emergency care.

In an earlier incident, gunmen shot dead a female health worker and injured her colleague on the edge of Peshawar on Tuesday.

Two attackers on a motorcycle opened fire on polio vaccinators Sumbal and Sharafata in Kaga Wala village in the jurisdiction of Badhaber police station.

Sharafata died on the spot while her colleague was seriously injured. Both were rushed to the Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) where Sumbal was said to be in a critical condition. Sharafata is the third polio vaccinator to be killed in Peshawar.” Read more.

By Vanessa Cornall, Lanshire Telegraph – “MACHETE wielding thugs have left two men with ‘serious injuries’ after attacking them in an Accrington barber’s shop.

The two victims had been inside the shop in Ormerod Street when four masked men carrying machetes and knives forced their way inside.

Detectives investigating the incident said the gang attacked the pair before forcing them into the street.

The thugs also attacked a parked car during the incident at midnight on Saturday.

Police said they were alerted to the incident after witnesses called an ambulance.

The victims both suffered deep wounds and had to be taken to hospital by paramedics.

One of the men, a 23-year-old man from Accrington sustained a serious head injury while, the other a 24-year-old man also from Accrington suffered a serious cut to his arm, police said…

Extra police patrols have been launched in the area to try reassure residents. Police said they were looking for a gang of Asian [politically correct British term used to describe Muslims] men in connection with the attack.” Read more.
