IRSN: 70,000 More People Must Evacuate Around Fukushima; TEPCO Now Admits Likely Meltdown in Reactors 2 and 3

05/24/2011 Leave a comment

“Paris – Seventy thousand people living beyond the 20km no-go zone around Fukushima should be evacuated because of radioactivity deposited by the crippled nuclear plant, a watchdog said.

Updating its assessment of the March 11 disaster, France’s Institute for Radiological Protection and Nuclear Safety (IRSN) highlighted an area northwest of the plant that lies beyond the 20km zone whose inhabitants have already been evacuated.

Radioactivity levels in this area range from several hundred becquerels per square metre to thousands or even several million bequerels per square metre, the IRSN report, issued late on Monday, said.

Around 70 000 people, including 9 500 children aged up to 14, live in the area, ‘the most contaminated territory outside the evacuation zone’, the agency said.” Read more.

Bruce Thornton: Obama is to the Islamists what Chamberlain was to the Nazis

05/24/2011 Leave a comment

Obama thinks that doing the same thing over and over will eventually yield a different result.  What did Einstein have to say about that kind of behavior?

By Bruce Thornton – “In September 1938 English Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain, explaining why he was flying to Germany a third time in order to make peace with Germany, recited the old nursery rhyme: ‘If at first you don’t succeed, try, try, try again.’ Cynical wags in the Foreign Office, who knew Chamberlain was in fact appeasing Hitler by surrendering Czechoslovakia to him, quickly began circulating another version of the saying: ‘If at first you don’t concede, fly, fly, fly again.’

President Obama’s new ‘outreach’ to the Muslim world reminds me of Chamberlain’s serial efforts to appease a Germany bent on aggression and conquest. First there was the Cairo speech in June 2009, which was supposed to be a ‘new beginning’ for U.S. relations with Muslims, but in fact simply indulged the same old bad habits of Western self-doubt and historical guilt. Thus Obama attributed the ‘tension’ between the West and Islam to a ‘colonialism that denied rights and opportunities to many Muslims, and a Cold war in which Muslim-majority countries were too often treated as proxies without regard to their own aspirations.’ Next came the videotaped New Year’s greetings to Iran, and the multiple letters to the Iranian ‘Supreme Leader’ Ali Khamenei requesting ‘co-operation in regional and bilateral relations.’ These outreaches were followed by Khameini’s announcement that ‘the path of Iran’s nuclear progress could not be blocked,’ and by the brutal crackdown that summer on the demonstrators protesting the tyranny of the mullahcracy. Meanwhile Iran continues its support of terrorists murdering our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.” Read more.

How the Left Went Wrong on Islam

05/24/2011 Leave a comment

By DANIEL GREENFIELD – “What makes the creeping political correctness on Islam so startling is its very newness. It wasn’t so long ago that the right and the left both agreed that as a religion and a political movement, it was dangerously backward and violent.

From Winston Churchill, ‘Mahommedan religion increases, instead of lessening, the fury of intolerance’ to Karl Marx, ‘Islamism proscribes the nation of the Infidels, constituting a state of permanent hostility between the Mussulman and the unbeliever’, leading figures on the right and the left held a realistic understanding of Islam. They dismissed it as violent, barbaric, ignorant and dangerous. The right saw Islam as a threat to the Western Christian hegemony. The left viewed it as a reactionary movement of superstitious fanatics. They might praise Arab generals or scientists, but not the creed itself.

Where then did that lost consensus on Islam go? One answer can be found in the Soviet Union.” Read more.

Thousands of Muslims Surround Church in Egypt to Prevent Its Reopening

05/24/2011 Leave a comment

Welcome to the sweet smell of grass and the blooming flowers of an Arab Spring.  Welcome to Barack Obama’s vision of the Middle East …

“(AINA) — On the morning of May 19 two Coptic priests went to St. Mary and St. Abraham Church in Ain Shams and opened it together with some of the Coptic residents, but later in the day thousands of Muslims surrounded the church to protest its opening, hurled stones at the church building and the Copts, who responded by throwing stones. The army and the police stood there watching and did not intervene.

Unable to secure the church, the army and police closed it and arranged for a ‘reconciliation’ meeting between the Coptic priest and the Salafi sheikhs. They also arrested eight Copts, one of them 13-years old, and three Muslims. They were all charged with rioting, violence and causing injury to citizens. Three Copts were also charged with having cartridges but no guns and one 15-year-old boy with possessing two knives. The 3 Muslims were charged with throwing stones at the army.” Read more.

By Tzvi Ben Gedalyahu – “Israel is the only country that has guaranteed freedom of all faiths in Jerusalem, which must remain undivided, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu told Congress Tuesday. In unusually strong language, he told the Congressmen that Judea and Samaria is part of the ancient Jewish homeland and that ‘we are not ‘occupying’ the region.’

Interrupted rerated by standing ovations, he also said that there are 300 million Arabs, but the only ones who are free are Israeli citizens.” Read more.

Israel to Palestinians: ditch Hamas, UN state bid – “Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, outlining his peace vision on Tuesday, urged the Palestinian leadership to shun Islamist group Hamas and shelve efforts to win U.N. statehood status unilaterally. ‘I say to President Abbas ‘Tear up your pact with Hamas and sit down and negotiate, make peace with the Jewish state…'” Read more.

PM: We won’t negotiate with Palestinian version of al-Qaida – “Israel will not, he said, ‘negotiate with a Palestinian government, which is backed by a Palestinian version of al-Qaida,’ he said referring to Hamas after noting that they condemned the US killing of Osama bin Laden. Hamas, he noted, is not a partner for peace. It ‘remains committed to Israel’s destruction and to terrorism. They have a charter, it calls not only for the destruction of Israel, it says: kill the Jews.'” Read more.

“CBC – The number of Canadian soldiers helping flood victims along Quebec’s Richelieu River doubled to about 500 in the past day as water levels hit a record high.

Winds from the south of up to 80 kilometres an hour forced water from Lake Champlain to spill into the Richelieu southeast of Montreal.

Premier Jean Charest toured the region Monday afternoon for a third time since the flooding began five weeks ago. He then asked the Canadian Armed Forces for more help.

‘They will be used for different tasks,’ Charest said. ‘Be it security, sandbagging … we will be responding to requests as quickly as possible.’

About 3,000 homes have been flooded and nearly 1,000 people have been forced out since the start of the floods.” Read more.

Winds show no mercy to Richelieu River flood victims – “High winds are playing havoc with attempts to contain water levels along the Richelieu River as hundreds of exhausted and demoralized residents brace themselves for several more days of flooding. Officials warned that more evacuations may be required as water levels are expected to peak again this week and may surpass the records reached on May 6.” Read more.

Locust Plague Ravages Northwestern China

05/24/2011 Leave a comment

“URUMQI – Large swarms of locusts have laid waste to vast tracts of Northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, with authorities expecting the plague to worsen as the weather heats up.

The locust plague began in the pastureland of the Ili River Valley and Taer Basin in late April, said Wang Xinchang, an official with the animal husbandry bureau in Tacheng Prefecture, on Tuesday.

“Locusts have infested nearly 100,000 hectares of pastureland in Tacheng Prefecture,” he said.

As the summer heat persists, the situation might still worsen next month. At least 400,000 hectares of pastureland could become infested, he said.

Xinjiang’s regional headquarters of locust and rodent control said an estimated 15.7 million hectares of pastureland would suffer from the locust plague this summer.” Read more.

Claim: Ahmadinejad’s Team Expects Arrival of the Mahdi on June 5

05/24/2011 1 comment

By ‘Reza Kahlili’ – “Increasing tensions between Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei and Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad intensified when hardline clerics exerted pressure on Ahmadinejad to obey the supreme leader as the ultimate authority. Those tensions were exacerbated with the arrest of over 25 of Ahmadinejad’s associates and loyalists, along with a high-level member of his inner circle. Supporters of the supreme leader are referring to Ahmadinejad’s group as ‘The Deviant Movement.’

This ‘group’ has announced that within the upcoming weeks a monumental event will turn the tide to their advantage.

Based on a report from Iran’s Ayandeh, one of the officials within ‘The Deviant Movement’ has informed his confidants that certain sources close to the ‘Mahdi’s Emergence Movement’ have stated that an important event will soon change the course of operations to Ahmadinejad’s favor. According to interpretations offered by Ahmadinejad’s team, a high-ranking member of the Islamic Republic will meet with a climactic incident. This in turn will build up to the announcement of the ‘covert emergence’ of the Twelfth Imam (or Mahdi) in Medina, Saudi Arabia.

Hardliners critical of Ahmadinejad maintain that his team believes a covert emergence will commence on the 14th of Khordaad (June 5) in Medina, setting the stage for the announcement of the actual emergence in the next few years.” Read more.

Nation of Islam Leader Says Mahdi is “Present in the World, is the Christ You’ve Been Looking For” – “‘… The End of Your World has arrived! What you’re looking at happening in Tunisia, in Egypt, in Yemen, in Jordan, in Libya, in Bahrain will soon—very soon—happen in all the nations of the world… This is a sign that The Great Mahdi that the Muslim world has been looking for is present in the world. That ‘The Christ’ that you hoped for, ‘The Christ’ that you longed for is present in the world. And all tyrants will be set down—God is stimulating the rise of the masses, and soon it will come to America’s shores. Indeed it has already begun.'” Read more.
