Palestinian President: There Will Be No Peace Talks With Israel; Arab League Panel to Seek UN Membership for ‘Palestine’

05/28/2011 1 comment

“DOHA – An Arab League committee decided on Saturday to seek full UN membership for a Palestinian state in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, with east Jerusalem as its capital, it said in a statement.

The Arab League’s peace process follow-up committee said it would request membership for the state of Palestine at the UN General Assembly’s meeting in New York in September.

Earlier, Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas said there were ‘no shared foundations’ for peace talks with Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and seeking UN recognition of Palestinian statehood was his only option.” Read more.

Dam Spills Extra Water Killing Tons of Fish

By CRAIG WELCH – “SEATTLE Grand Coulee Dam managers are spilling so much water to make room for massive late-season snowmelt that they’re unleashing deadly gas bubbles that are killing hundreds of thousands of fish in the Columbia River.

Virtually all of those fish have been farmed steelhead living in net pens owned by Pacific Aquaculture, a fish farm just outside Nespelem in Okanogan County. The company says it may lose $30 million worth in the next few weeks if dam managers don’t find a new way to handle spring runoff.

But wild river life, too, may be at risk, as dissolved nitrogen and other gases in the water rise to levels that can essentially cause aquatic creatures to get the bends.

‘They’re basically sterilizing this entire stretch of river,’ said John Bielka, Pacific Aquaculture manager. ‘That’s going to wipe out not only the fish in our farm, but also the bull trout, the lamprey, the sturgeon and every other wild thing.'” Read more.

Dead Birds Falling From the Sky in Australia

“Galahs dropping dead and falling from trees in Oxley Park remain a mystery but the possibility of poisoning seems unlikely following an autopsy by a veterinarian. The vet from Central West Livestock Health and Pest Authority is investigating the deaths of a large number of birds that were found dead under trees throughout the park on Sunday morning.

Some were also seen in the grounds of TAFE. The birds did not have any obvious injuries or wounds and were all lying in a spread wing position. Some of the birds will now be sent off to the Elizabeth Macarthur Agricultural Institute at Menangle for further testing in case any exotic, notifiable disease is the culprit.

Senior LHPA ranger based in Dubbo Lisa Thomas said the bird deaths were a concern, with an autopsy carried out by the vet, who retrieved some of the birds that had been recovered from the scene on Sunday morning. The vet found no evidence of poisoning by mouse baits and no dye discolouration in the crops or stomachs of the birds.” Read more.

39 Still Missing After ‘Mile Wide’ EF5 Tornado Kills at Least 130 in Joplin, MO; 2011 Deadliest Year for Tornadoes Since 1950

“JOPLIN, Mo. (AP) — There are now 39 people who remain unaccounted for, plus four others whose families have reported them dead a week after a massive tornado hit Joplin.

The Missouri Department of Public Safety said Sunday that 39 people are unaccounted for, but that there are four more people who family members have reported as deceased. DPS says those four haven’t been officially confirmed dead, however.

More than 130 people have been reported killed in the storm that hit Joplin a week ago.

The tornado – an EF-5 packing 200 mph winds – injured more than 900 people.” Read more.

2011 Deadliest Year for Tornadoes Since 1950 – “The death toll from the monster tornado last week in Missouri has risen by three to at least 142, Joplin City Manager Mark Rohr said during a news conference Saturday. That makes this the deadliest year for tornadoes since 1950, based on an assessment of figures from the National Weather Service. The tornado death toll for 2011 is now 523. Until now, the highest recorded death toll in a single year was 519 in 1953. There were deadlier storms before 1950, but those counts were based on estimates and not on precise figures.” Read more.

A Malaysian Journey From Darkness

05/28/2011 Leave a comment

“For most Americans and those reading this, the nation of Malaysia–the country I call home–is likely nothing more but a mysterious, distant, small and relatively unimportant land. Some of you might be familiar with Malaysia’s carefully cultivated public image of being some sort of harmonious multicultural tropical paradise, which is recycled endlessly in 30-second-long television spots both here and overseas.

But for anyone who may be trying to come to grips with the grim reality that is Islam, Malaysia may be one of the most important places on the planet. That’s because anyone who still, despite all the evidence, feels that there really is a moderate, progressive, tolerant and peaceful Islam, need look no further than Malaysia. Once you do, you’ll be thoroughly disabused of this notion.

My own awakening to Islam is mostly a tale of ignorance and more than whiff of denial, punctuated by sudden, shattering and irreversible epiphanies. I say ‘shattering’ because the ideas that I embraced as I grew up–that Islam is just one religion of many, and doesn’t particularly pose a threat to anyone–does not withstand anything more than a cursory examination of the facts. And as the evidence piled up and my doubts grew, those old notions I had held previously, like a sheet of plate glass, came apart under the hammer blows of truth.” Read more.

Norwegian Authorities Covering Up Muslim Rapes; Rapist: Women Have No Rights or Opinions in Islam

05/28/2011 3 comments

Revelation 9:21, “And they did not repent of their murders … or their sexual immorality …”

“A practicing Muslim man raped and threatened a young Norwegian girl for several hours. Numerous rapes in Sweden over the past several years have been committed by ‘non-Western men,’ e.g., Muslims. In fact, in the past year, all rapes in Oslo have been committed by non-Western men.

‘He said that he had the right to do exactly as he wanted to a woman. Why? Because that is how it was in his religion. Women did not have rights or opinions. He was in charge.’

Islam teaches utter disrespect for women, who are mere possessions of savage men, to be raped whenever the beasts feel like it. At least this rapist admitted that fact of Islamic misogyny and sexism, which should be obvious to anyone with eyes to see.

‘Women are your fields: go, then, into your fields whence you please.’ Quran 2:223” Read more.

2007: Norwegian Authorities Are Covering Up Muslim Rapes – “There has been a spike in the number of rape charges in Scandinavia in recent years. It has reached near epidemic proportions in Sweden… This trend is not exclusive to Scandinavia. It is the same all over Western Europe wherever we find significant numbers of Muslim immigrants. In fact, the number of rapes committed by Muslim immigrants in Western nations is so extremely high that it is difficult to view them only as random acts of individuals. It resembles warfare. German journalist Gudrun Eussner considers this to be ‘sexuality as a weapon against disobedient and non-Muslim women, both categorized as ‘unbelievers’. Against them jihad is the duty, and what to do with women ‘conquered’ in jihad, this may be read in the Qur’an: they become slaves to be used by the victors.'” Read more.

“Washington — International Christian Concern (ICC) has learned that an Algerian Christian was sentenced to five years imprisonment for blasphemy in Oran on Wednesday after sharing his Christian faith with a neighbor. The verdict came days after authorities forced the permanent closure of seven Protestant churches in Algeria’s Béjaia province.

Siagh Krimo was charged by the Criminal Court of the Djamel District in Oran, who based their decision on Article 144 bis 2 of the Penal Code which criminalizes acts that ‘insult the prophet and any of the messengers of God, or denigrate the creed and precepts of Islam, whether by writing, drawing, declaration, or any other means.’ Krimo has ten days to appeal the sentence.” Read more.
