Rival Palestinian Factions Reach Landmark Reconciliation Pact

“Palestinian factions Fatah and Hamas on Wednesday proclaimed a landmark, Egyptian-mediated reconciliation pact aimed at ending their bitter four-year rift. The Palestinian president seized the occasion to deliver a scathing criticism of Israel, saying he would not succumb to its blackmail over the future of Mideast peacemaking.

‘We forever turn the black page of division,’ the Western-backed Mahmoud Abbas said at the declaration ceremony in the Egyptian capital Cairo, promising to ‘soon’ visit Hamas-held Gaza Strip.”  Read more.

Flowing Backwards: Mississippi Flood More Than Historic, It’s a 500 Year ‘Epic’ Flood

By Lauren Lee – “MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Mississippi River continues to rise, so much so that its tributaries are starting to flow backwards. At Tom Lee Park, preps for Memphis in May continue knowing that the worst is still yet to come.

It’s a site not often seen; the Wolf River and Nonconnah Creek are flowing backwards. The swelling river cannot take on much more water.

Gene Rench with the National Weather Service said all eyes are on the Mississippi. The tributaries flowing backwards are a big problem for the adjacent communities.

‘Right now the Mississippi river is in the process of going through what we call an epic flood, meaning it’s more than historic, it’s more than a 100 year flood, it’s more like a 500 year flood,’ he said. ‘We could flood many homes, businesses, close down factories, people could drown.’

The river is more than two feet past flood stage; it rose two feet in the 24 hours following the storms. It’s expected to crest at 45 feet around May 10th…” Read more.

Colorado Graphic Artist Questions Obama Birth Certificate

By Don Coleman – “GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. — Even after the White House offered up President Obama’s birth certificate, there are still those who are questioning it’s legitimacy.

One Grand Junction man who works as a graphic artist says he has discovered something strange about the certificate. ‘There’s no doubt that it has been edited and quite significantly,’ James Colby said.

He’s been involved in graphic arts since 2004 and has never had a reason to doubt our president’s birthplace. In fact, he says he is politically independent. Yet, Colby says he can’t ignore the obvious.

After downloading the birth certificate straight off of the White House’s website, he started noticing the apparent flaws in a computer program called Adobe Illustrator.

‘Legitimate digitized, scanned documents will always have [a] faded appearance… There are too many jagged features, here.’ he said as the scoured the certificate. ‘So, it’s not a single document, it’s actually ‘compositive’ layers.'”  Read more.

Why Does Obama Have 2 Different Birth Doctors?

By Bob Unruh – “The White House release of a copy of Barack Obama’s long-form Hawaian birth certificate continues to raise more questions – since the name of the president’s attending physician differs from previous published reports.

The name on the purported birth certificate lists Dr. David Sinclair as the obstetrician who delivered Obama in 1961.

But reports by the Buffalo News and supposedly confirmed by the hoaxbusting website Snopes.com indicate the name of Obama’s birth physician was Dr. Rodney T. West.

Here is an image of what the White House claims is Obama’s official, long-form birth certificate, with Sinclair’s name listed as the doctor.

Yet a report that West was the attending physician – and not Sinclair – comes from Snopes.com, the self-described ‘definitive Internet reference source’:

Michigan Man Kills Stepdaughter for Not Following Islam

“WARREN, Mich. — A Twin Cities man is accused of killing his 20-year-old stepdaughter in Michigan because she left home and wasn’t following Islam, police said Tuesday.

Rahim Alfetlawi, 45, of Coon Rapids, was being held without bond Tuesday in the Macomb County Jail after being charged with first-degree murder in the death of Jessica Mokdad on Saturday at her grandmother’s home in the Detroit suburb of Warren…

Torey said Mokdad had left her mother and stepfather to live with her father near Flint in Grand Blanc because she did not like their rules.

Palestinian Imam: ‘Obama Will Soon Hang Together with Bush’

By Elior Levy – “An imam from the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem vowed to take revenge over ‘the western dogs’ for killing Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden in Pakistan on Sunday.

In a Youtube video uploaded by the imam he said: ‘The western dogs are rejoicing after killing one of our Islamic lions. From Al-Aqsa Mosque, where the future caliphate will originate with the help of God, we say to them – the dogs will not rejoice too much for killing the lions. The dogs will remain dogs and the lion, even if he is dead, will remain a lion.”‘

The imam then verbally attacked US President Barack Obama saying: ‘You personally instructed to kill Muslims. You should know that soon you’ll hang together with Bush Junior.’

‘We are a nation of billions, a good nation. We’ll teach you about politics and military ways very soon, with god’s help,’ he vowed.”  Read more.

White House to Release Death Photo of Osama Bin Laden; Update: Nevermind

President Obama has decided that he will release at least one photo of Osama Bin Laden after his recent death by US Navy SEALs.  Will it put conspiracy theorists to rest?  Details coming soon …

Panetta: “The government obviously has been talking about how best to do this, but I don’t think there was any question that ultimately a photograph would be presented to the public.” (Source)

Update:  Obama changes his mind, doesn’t want to release evidence proving Bin Laden’s death.  It might be ‘inflammatory.’  Killing the terrorist is perfectly ok, but showing a picture will hurt other terrorist’s feelings.

UK Cleric: Jihad Ultimately Coming to ‘Heart of America’

WND – “The death of Osama bin Laden will bring a ‘new era of jihad,’ predicted British extremist cleric Anjem Choudary.

Warning there are motivated jihadists ‘in the heart of America,’ Choudary said al-Qaida will likely carry out revenge operations with ‘meticulous accuracy’ and ‘devastating affect’ comparable to that of the 9/11 attacks.

Choudary is the founder and former chief of two Islamic groups disbanded by the British authorities under anti-terror legislation.

Speaking today in an interview with ‘Aaron Klein Investigative Radio’ of New York’s WABC Radio, Choudary said that while bin Laden was a ‘lion of Islam … there are many lions waiting to take his place.’

‘I do believe that the death of Sheikh Osama will bring in a new era of jihad,’ Choudary told Klein.

‘Post-Osama bin Laden, I believe the mujahedeen around the world will have something to prove, that the jihad is not about an individual.’

Choudary said instability for U.S. forces in Iraq and Afghanistan ‘will be a complete nightmare after this event.’

Asked whether he believes al-Qaida is planning revenge attacks, the British extremist speculated the global jihad group ‘will have their own emergency meetings and they will plan their own response.’

Continued Choudary: ‘It may be in the short-term or it may be in the long-term, but ultimately, we know that when they decide on an operation, that most likely it will be fulfilled with meticulous accuracy and with devastating effect.’

‘We saw that with 9/11,’ he added.

Choudary said worldwide jihad “at the current time is spread right from Australia all the way to the heart of Europe and into the United States.”

‘There are many people who believe in the phenomenon of jihad which has been franchised as well from al-Qaida. … And these people live in the heart of Europe and they live in the heart of America.'”  Read more.

Pakistan: Muslim Extremists Attack Christian Homes, Set Fire to Churches

By Jibran Khan – “Lahore (AsiaNews) – Tensions are running high in Gujranwala, a town in the Pakistani province of Punjab, recent scene of repeated attacks by Muslim extremists against the Christian minority. Yesterday, a mob attacked Christian homes and places of worship, setting fire to a number of churches. Only the action of police prevented any loss of life and injuries. The attacks were sparked by reports that a burnt copy of the Qur‘an had been found on Saturday. Muslim religious leaders responded by urging people to attack Christians. Scared for their lives, many families fled the area. Meanwhile, the authorities have begun enforcing Section 144 of the Pakistan Penal Code to limit public assemblies to a maximum of four people.”  Read more.

Mississippi River to Exceed 1927 Flood Levels

By Greg Hilburn – “Mississippi River levels will reach an all-time high this month, exceeding even the great flood of 1927, according to a new forecast by the National Weather Service, but U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials said Louisiana’s levees should contain the rising waters.

The new forecast issued Monday raised the crest 4 more feet at Vicksburg, Miss., to 57.5 feet on May 18, The 1927 crest was 56.2 feet. Flood stage is 43 feet.

But the corps’ Robert Simrall was quick to point out the Louisiana levee system is higher than in 1927.

‘These levees are designed to contain this flood,’ Simrall said.

Still, even corps officials like Simrall were surprised by the new crest prediction.

‘It would be more water than we’ve ever had,’ he said. ‘I’ve worked here more than 25 years and I never thought I’d see this.'”  Read more.

Smaller Earthquakes in El Paso, TX Could Mean A Large One Is Coming

“EL PASO, Texas — In the past week, the El Paso region has had four earthquakes at least 4.2 in scale. Seismologist Aaron Velasco tells KFOX14 the earthquakes could foreshadow a large scale earthquake in El Paso.

These earthquakes all happened in a remote area of Chihuahua, Mecico. They were still pretty close to the U.S. border.

Most El Pasoans KFOX 14 spoke with said they never worry about earthquakes because they don’t think we’re on a fault line. Velasco said the mountains in El Paso are proof that we are on one or more fault lines. ‘The hazard is not zero here in El Paso,” said Velasco. “It’s low compared to California and Japan, but at any particular time that means that we could have an earthquake.'”  Read more.
